Question mark in battery symbol

The other day I did some app updates and restarted my phone. After startup, a question mark showed up in the battery icon. The phone was working fine otherwise though. I power cycled it a few times and the question mark would not go away. Apparently it would not charge either, as it is now DEAD. When I plug the phone in, I just get the battery icon with the question mark symbol. I took it to a local Verizon store (2 in fact) and they were of no help. I have only had the phone for just over a year (so no warranty or insurance), and I love it. There is no way I'm paying for a brand new phone when I did absolutely nothing to damage it! After doing some research I have noticed that other people have had this problem as well. I cannot even call customer service because I am alone without a phone!

Contact Motorola and see if they will replace the battery for a fee. Since you will have to send the phone in, you should see if you can borrow a phone from a friend in the meantime.

  • Droid razr question mark in battery

This morning i dropped my phone on accident and when i picked it up it was turning off. I turned it back on and it had a red question mark in the battery slot. It said it was 100% and was on for about 2 1/2 hours. In that time i googled on what to do and it told me to hit the power button and both volume up and down buttons and once the menu came on to go to battery tools and it was suppose to fix everything. Well now im guessing that my phone died becuase it wont turn on, but it i have it plugged in it turns on but stays on the image of that white ''M" in the red circle. What do i do now?

You need to call and ask tech support to send you CLNR phone.  Hopefully you have a line to call from as they will want to do some trouble shooting before they decide to send you the CLNR.  I don't know how they will consider the fact that you dropped the phone.  If you tell them that!  Does the phone show like it has been dropped?  If the phone shows abuse then they may charge you for the CLNR after they get your phone back and inspect it.  If the phone is more than a year old and does show signs of dropping it then you may want to consider other options.  Do you have TEC insurance on the phone?  If so you may want to call them, that will only be $99.00 deductible and they will send you a CLNR. http://support.verizonwireless.com/information/device_replacement_program.html  http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/features/calling_features/equipment_protection.html

  • Question mark on battery

    Hi Nokia,
My Nokia Lumia 800 has a question mark on its battery.
I have upgraded to the latest version 1600.2483.8106.11500
And this did not fix the problem.
On the battery status screen via the diagnostics screen . all the values are just 0.
The upgraded has not fixed my battery problem.
NOKIA please help.... what should we do

I thought the 12070 update was supposed to fix this? My 800 still has the '?' instead of battery status, even with the 12070 update applied officially.
Am stumped. And disappointed. Nokia? How difficult is it to read a battery voltage register? Not very, I'd say.... 8-(

  • Question mark in Quicktime Symbol!

Whenever i go to say either msypace, ESPN, Gamespot, Yahoo, ETC. The little quicktime symbol has a little question in it and it wont play. I called quicktime and they knew nothing about it..

Click on the apple in the top left hand corner.
    Click on "About This Mac".
The next window will tell you exactly which version OS you have.
Please correct your system info by going to My Settings over here in the right column.---->
We also need to know which version of QuickTime you are using. Open up QT & click on "About QuickTime Player".
The next window that opens up will let you know which version you are using and also if it is "PRO". Will need to know that also.

  • Screen is grey and flashing apple, question mark and warning symbol

I was working on my computer when a message appeared on my screen telling me my hard drive was almost full. I tried to delete some files, specifically Logs files, and then continued working until my screen froze and I had to shut down. When I rebooted the following appeared on my screen.

Sorry, but you did not post your image. Please use the camera icon in the message composition window's toolbar to upload your image into your post.
    Meanwhile see:
Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • TS1440 Flashing question mark, cancel, apple, and folder symbol.

My computer has been acting weird for the longest time, I used to have a done of room on it and one day it disappeared. So I started deleting stuff off of it, big apps and what not so I could have more space, I would gain little bit of space but then a second later it goes back to "Zero KG" so I'm thinking I should restart my computer.. So I turn it off, then turn it on, and flashing symbols come up. After multiple times of turning it on and off, I put in my startup disk, but I can't get past the choosing the start up disk because it says I have zero KG on the disk.. So I take the disc out and it goes back to the flashing question mark/apple/folder symbol..

    Hello,
Try holding the Option key at startup to see if you can boot off the Install Disc to repair the drive, or the c key.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
We need to clear some really big files off of it, like Movies, or I suspect some huge logs from something going wrong. 0 KB on the drive can ruin many files on there.

  • System crashed with nothing working (question mark, os symbol etc.)

After leaving system in sleep mode overnight, came back to startup and system had crashed. Once restarting the unit makes a scratchy beeping noise approximately 3 times spaced out by 10-20 seconds. Then screen goes to flashing question mark and os symbol folder.
I have tried the following to resolve:
    1. Reboot holding down Shift key - Did not work
    2. Reboot holding down Option key - Did not work
    3. Rebooted (holding down the C button) with most recent OS X Tiger system/install cd - This caused the system to start to the Grey Apple symbol and then it went to a grey 'Do Not Enter' symbol and freezes/stops.
    4. Rebooted (holding down the C button) with Hardware Diagnostic CD - Was able to run Hardware diagnosis and found no problems. I used the Restart command in this software and system had same issues.
    5. Rebooted (holding down the C button)with Apple Care Protection CD and this caused flashing diskette with question mark.
Nothing appears to work and it appears I am on my way to Cafe' Mac (my local Apple store) for serious repairs. I can not lose the hard drive contents (pictures and everything that I do not have backed up).
Any help or advice to get my system back to normal would be greatly appreciated....
    Thanks in advance.
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Sure, use either Mac... but it all depends if your old MacBook will boot into Firewire target disk mode.
If it does just pop in the DVD (in the good DVD drive) and install. I'd suggest a reformat also, under the circumstances.
To use FireWire target disk mode
    1. Make sure that the target computer is turned off. If you are using a PowerBook or iBook as the target computer, you should also plug in its AC power adapter.
    2. Use a FireWire cable to connect the target computer to a host computer. The host computer does not need to be turned off.
    3. Start up the target computer and immediately press and hold down the T key until the FireWire icon appears. The hard disk of the target computer should become available to the host computer and will likely appear on desktop. (If the target computer is running Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you can also open System Preferences, choose Startup Disk, and click Target Disk Mode. Then restart the computer and it will start up in Target Disk Mode.)
    4. When you are finished copying files, drag the target computer's hard disk icon to the Trash or select Put Away from the File menu (Mac OS 9) or Eject from the File menu (Mac OS X).
    5. Press the target computer's power button to turn it off.
    6. Unplug the FireWire cable.
If the target computer's hard disk does not become available to the host computer, check the cable connections and restart the host computer.

  • Flashing question mark after OS / HD upgrade

I have an iMac 233 with 256MB RAM and just upgraded to an 80 GB HD. I have the correct firmware 4.1.9. The Hard is partitioned into a 7.5 GB and a second of 70 something GB. I ran the OS X 10.2 full install on the 7.5 GB partition and it went thru the entire install. When I restarted it gives a flashing question mark. I have tried resetting the PRAM and the PRAM Battery is brand new. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi Brian Welcome to the Apple Discussions, The flashing question mark is a symbol that the computer cannot locate a startup drive. When booting press and hold the option key as soon as your imac's chime goes off this should take you to a menu and give you some startup options click the X symbol and press continue, if it does not boot properly then please contact me in this topic and i will try to fix the problem if it continues . • Question mark display

i was wondering if other mac users experience this problem too. when i go on a website, a lot of the images contain a question mark with a blue background. for instance, when i go to myspace on a friend's site,a majority of the buddy icons contains the question mark.
i refresh the page a few times and still contains the same problem.
anyone know how to solve this problem?
    thanks.

I'm pretty sure that means there is no actual image. Sometimes the servers where images are stored are down, or simply the link to the image is broken (deleted files). The HTML says there's supposed to be an image there, and displays some sort of question mark or other symbol depending on which web browser you're using to indicate that it can't find it.

  • Battery Big Question Mark Symbol

My pre plus has suddenly developed a battery big question mark symbol. Any advice?

Battery symbol with a question mark indicates no battery present in the device. You can try cleaning the battery contacts with a pencil eraser, or replacing the battery.

Hold the Power button to attempt to turn the TP off.
When the TP is off, press and hold the power and volume up buttons.
The TP should power on and display the USB trident symbol.
At that point you're in USB mode and should be able to use webOS Doctor 3.0.5 I suggest using WebOS Doctor to reset the TP to its delivered condition
The forum with the greatest amount of resources for the HP Touchpad is the HP WebOS Forum. I highly recommend joining that forum.
This nicely written and illustrated standard Touchpad troubleshooting tutorial is at the WebOS forum.

  • Every once in a while when I open my mail or a page I get nothing but strange lines of symbols.  Many of the symbols are black triangles with question marks in the center.  I completely reset it like new, but problem still exists

Every once in a while when I open my mail or open a page I get lines of strange symbols like black triangles with question marks in the center.  I have reset the ipad2 to new condition but the problem still exists.

A reset does not make tthe iPad "like new."
First, let's ensure that we agree on just what is a Reset...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

I'm using a macbook pro, running snow leopard. Yesterday I got around to emptying my trash for the first time in quite awhile and was surprised by how much there seemed to be in there. Immediately after a question mark symbol appeared on all my hard disk folders. If I click on these question marks I get a message saying ' the item can't be found'.

mpagan47 wrote: a question mark symbol appeared on all my hard disk folders.
Not sure where these hard disk folders are located that you are referring to?  Finder, Finder tool bar, Finder side bar, Desktop, Dock?
More then likely they are  an alias that not longer point to the orginals,  thus the question mark.
I would reboot.  Delete icons if an alias and just recreate by dragging from the source. Try right click (control) click to remove.

Hello, My mac mini will not boot. When I turn it on, I get the chime, then the white screen, then the apple symbol, then a file symbol with a question mark, then the white screen and then it stays like that.
Is this a bad hard drive?

Sounds like it.  Try booting from your OSX restore DVDs - startup and hold down "C".  This will take AGES! Then run Disk Utility from the menu.
The flashing ? means your system is corrupt, dead, not there, on a dying HD, etc...
