Question mark on some of my folders in LR3 on a Mac. Right click does not result in anything... no drop down menu to fix the problem

I am trying to learn Lightroom 3 on my Mac. I mistakenly renamed some folders (not while in Lightroom) by adding a subject to the date. Lightroom could not find the photos in the folder and gave me an error message that "the file named ... is offline or missing" I then went back and changed the files to what they were originally named but still get the same error message. Scott Kelby's good recommends right clicking on the file and i'd have the option to 'find the missing folder'... Not happening. What can I do other than starting over?

In choosing folders to merge in photoshop elements CTRL-click does not work

I cannot use CTRL-click or SHIFT-click to chosee multiple folders for merging. How do I select multiple folders?

I am using PSE13
I mistakenly created dozens of subfolders and wish to merge them. I tried placing my cursor on the name of the subfolder as you suggest. CTRL-click or SHIFT-click on another name of the subfolder chooses that folder but then un-chooses the previous one.
Any other suggestions?

Blue question mark on some web pages

hi i am getting blue questions marks on some web pages. like..... TheAVENUE.com i see the start page, and i see the pictures there, but when i go to click an link like sweaters, and the sweaters are suppose to pop up i see the blue question marks. this only only happens on a fewweb pages. any idea whats going on?

thanks for your help, I called my internet people. and they are having the same issues. they are guessing they company is blocking us from viewing it. It happens alot though. My husband is in the military and we are stationed overseas. I will have to call them and let them know they are blocking our Ip addresses

FYI: I have been using boot camp with windows 7 and started getting a kernal_data_Page_error and it would reboot windows, i was trying to do a chkdsk on the next reboot, but thats when i started getting this issue. I have put in a new hard drive and went from 2 gigs to 4. I can not get the computer to do anything, even the monitor does not show anything now????

Prep your new drive:
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs,) then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install OS X.

My mac book pro does not connect but shows an error message with a question mark on the screen.I took it to a retailer that said it was not reconizing the hard drive.He said i needed a new hard drive but it may be something else as well but he was sure a new hard drive would fix it.So putting faith in someone who deals with them i purchased a new hard drive to find it was still not working although he said the computer did know reconize the hard drive and i may have to send it away to get it checked .After already paying 120 pounds for a new hard drive and they wanting another 80.00 pounds to diagnose it i am a little sceptical.

I think that your Mac detects your hard disk, but the problem is that your new hard disk doesn't contain any operating system, so your Mac doesn't find any bootable partition and you see a question mark.
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X Install DVD and hold the C key while your Mac is starting. Then, just install Mac OS X. If the hard disk isn't prepared to install Mac OS X, you will have to erase it using "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". See > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU1.html

Found some instructions but they called for using keys my computer doesn't have ( key in OSX There is no file, edit , history, help, tools, navigation, all the things your directions say to use. Also I always get hung up and the message a scrip is running. I don't know what thises scrips are but I sure don't need them.

Sometimes when starting my iMac it shows a folder icon with a Question mark in it. Mac does not start up, only when shutting down and restart again solves it

Sometimes when starting up my iMac it shows only a folder icon with a question mark in it. Nothing happened. Only when start up again it runs ok.
What can be the cause of this.

That's an indication your Mac can't find a system folder to boot from.
Open System Preferences > Startup Disk
Select: MacintoshHD OS X
For OS X v10.4, v10.5, and v10.6 > A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac
Helps when you ask for help to tell us which Mac OS X is installed.
If you aren't certain, click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
The version is noted there.

Question Marks in Web Gallery using LRG One (with PayPal) on Mac

I have an issue when using LightroomGalleries.com's otherwise excellent "LRG One with PayPal" gallery template in the LR Web module on my Macs. The template produces a drop-down menu to display unit pricing, in a range of currency options. When I set the currency symbol to anything but the default USD/ $, I get a ? symbol in a diamond shape instead of the currency symbol. (I need to use £ for GBP, but it does the same if I select EUR or Japanese Yen.)
This shows up in the LR Web Module UI, and also when previewed in Safari. Likewise when exported to desktop or remote server and opened in Safari.
It does not happen with other browsers - I've tried Opera, OmniWeb, Firefox, Camino, Mozilla and even IE 5.2 for Mac. All of these display the currency symbol as £
I've posted on LightroomGalleries and Luminous Landscape Forums, but have not found anyone able to advise how I can stop this happening in LR and Safari (though Admin at the former made some suggestions - see http://lightroomgalleries.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=51 , and it seems clear it's a Mac issue and something to do with UTF-8 encoding issues).
Just wondered if anyone on this forum might be able to suggest a way forward... I'm not a coder, but I'm willing to try anything not too complicated in the way of file editing.

Here is a modified version including an Euros and an UK Pounds and a Japan Yens module working fine.
Ive modified the galleryMaker file including Euros and UK Pounds and Japan Yens symboles. These instructions were not written in the original files so PayPal used the default currency, i.e. US Dollars.

My right click is not working. the context menu does not come up and i can no longer drag files/folders. I have checked the mouse and track pad in system preferences and the correct boxes are all checked (with a support member). Please can you help

For this question, it might help to know if you're dealing with a trackpad, Magic Mouse, or something else?
(Until your issue's resolved, you can Control-Left Click to get the right click functionality).

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Thanks to the super-users, and questions on backgrounds and drop-down menu

Hi all.
I've spent a fair amount of time perusing the archives, so I don't have to bother you all with the basic questions. Great thanks to Wyodor, Old Toad, Ethmoid and Cyclosaurus for their excellent and oft-repeated tutorials.
With your help, I've figured out how to set up a personal domain name, modify my background image, and create a drop-down menu. (These were major accomplishments for a neophyte like me.) My primitive template can be seen here:

And I am pretty happy with it. I have one problem, and one minor element that I'd like to fix.
The drop-down menu was created following the excellent tutorial from the iWebfaq but I notice that although it looks perfect there is one malfunction. If you hover and try to select an element where there is no underlying content, it works fine. When you try to select a list item with underlying content, however, the drop-down disappears. Any idea why that happens or how I can fix it? I suppose I could just add a space buffer, but that is an inelegant solution.
On a more trivial note, the background was actually supposed to be composed of two images. The top row was supposed to be a horizontal set of tiles (slightly darker in color) and the rest of the background was tiled in a second image, giving a gradient effect. I used the script Wyodor described here with repeat set to yes which gave me single-image tiling. Looks OK, but if I could get both sets of tiles used it would add substantial richness to the visual effect. Ideas?

I appreciate your reply but those arrows were not the ones I was trying to describe. In the same box where you would type your web address on the far right is a small star and then next to it an arrow pointing down. If you click on this arrow, it normally drops down a list of the websites you commonly use. Or, if you are on a website ordering something, there might be a similar arrow that you need to select in order to choose which shipping you might want such as ground, next day air, etc., these are the kinds of arrows that are not working correctly now. Any ideas on these? Thanks for trying to help me.
