Question on 7thGen nano - not syncing entire playlist.

Had to change hard-drive, and also got a new 7thGen nano.  iTunes library has been re-loaded, but now can only sync 43 out of over 1000 playlist; getting ! to the left of the playlist.  Help.

I'm having the same issue with resetting to Honolulu when ever I hook up to my PC.
3rd gen Nano
Sydney Australia
I noticed it in the week between Christmas and New Year when I looked down and it was wrong by an hour so I went to change it and it saw it was pm the day before not am.
So i changed it and then again I noticed a day or two later it was wrong.
I found that if I reset it (hold down Menu and centre button for 6 seconds) it also resets it to Honolulu.
Also my sons 4th gen Nano he got for Christmas changes from Sydney to Adelaide when you reset it ???
P.S. I just noticed my ipod was an hour 11 hours behind and went into time settings and then started typing this and it had gone to the 'screen saver' screen with time, play and battery but was now 3 hours ahead of time.
I've just change it back to Sydney time and will keep track of what I do and when it changes.

  • ITunes not syncing selected playlists, choosing songs from all playlists

I have some smaller iPods that I use on random occasions. When I sync them, I choose the following options:
    Sync Music:
    Selected Playlists, artists, genres
    Music Videos - Not Checked
Automatically fill free space with songs - Checked
I have two playlists from which I wish a selection to be made, which exceeds the size of the iPod (they were designed for larger devices synced with this machine). When I attempt to Sync, I get a message saying that the iPod is too small, and would I like iTunes to automatically choose songs to sync. If I click no, the sync is canceled. If I click yes to have a subset of my two playlists automatically choosen, the ipod will sync, but then iTunes clears all of my selected playlists and starts syncing songs from all playlists.
This seems like a bug in iTunes to me, as it is not performing the requested options. Has anyone else experienced this, or know how to get it fixed? Or to get a bug report sent in to Apple? I have been going all over the place on their support page, and since this isn't an issue with the iPod, but with iTunes, I haven't been able to find a support avenue.

iTunes not syncing selected playlists, choosing songs from all playlists
You have it selected to *sync selected playlists* and those playlists are not syncing to the iPod?
however this seems to be very counter-intuitive behavior for iTunes
It can be kind of confusing.
I suggest it's not a bug in that it is acting as it's supposed to.
The option (Fill free space) could be made clearer. Perhaps if they added "with songs at random from the entire library" or somehow added an option to select what the free space will be filled with.)
    1) The fact that iTunes it is not obeying the selected options on the screen
    Not supposed to do that.
If the playlists all fit and there is free space, what would iTunes use to fill the free space if it only used selected items?
    2) iTunes is allowing users construct an unhonorable set of choices out of four options. If "Selected playlists, artists and genres" is not compatible with "Automatically fill free space," then that option should be grayed out.
    It is compatible.
If there is free space after your selections are added, what should iTunes use to fill the free space? It shouldn't fill the free space with stuff already on the iPod.

  • HT1386 ITunes is not syncing my playlists but I have that option checked.

ITunes is not syncing my playlists but I have that option checked.

iTunes is a program. It cannot fix itself.
Select the items desired to sync and sync the device. This is not difficult, just open your eyes and pay attention.

  • Am I the only one whith an iTunes (11.1.3 on Windows 7) that does not sync my playlist on my both my iPhone 4G and iPdos classic 5G

I have multiple Playlists organized by folders (multiple folders but all at 1 level, no folders within folders) and I trying to unload some (cristmast music) and uploading other playlists instead.
From iTunes view everything seems fine, as usual, but the update doesn't show on my iPod App. On my iPhone I'm seeing my Christmist playlists and not the ones that iTunes show as "checked and loaded" in iTunes when reconnecting my iPhone to my PC's USB port. Samething happens with my old iPod Classic. ...BUT!
But if I edit a playlist from my iPhone, after sync, I can see that change of that playlist in iTunes on my PC!? So the download from iPhone works but the upload from iTunes to iPhone does NOT work.
    My Hardware:
    - Windows 7 on a Dell Laptop
    - iOS 7 on iPhone 4G (32 gb)
    - iPod Classic 5G (32 gb)
I consider my self a power-user, using iTunes since 2002 and I just can't find a solution. I've been able to sync my playlist with both devices for the last time on December 15th 2013 but I think that was before updating to version 11.1.3.
Any body knows about a problem synchronizing (updating)  playlist on devices running iOS 7? This seems like a major bug to me since any of my devices can't sync completly.

After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
    1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
    2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems.

    Trudy,
Make sure your iPod is configured to sync this playlist from under it's Music configuration tab in iTunes.  You can access this tab when your iPod is plugged in.

  • Ipod will not sync because playlist was deleted

We cannot sync ipod because playlist was deleted. We also cannot get past the registation page when ipod is selected in itunes. I understand Iam supose to chang the playlist for syncing but since I cannot get past the registration page I can't do this step. I am very frustrated and trying to get this working for my child. Thanks

*We also cannot get past the registation page when ipod is selected in itunes.*
Have you tried choosing "never register" next time you are asked. Never register shows up after the second or third time you connect if you have chosen "Register Later" previously.
*We cannot sync ipod because playlist was deleted*
You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Nano will not sync my playlists

I had to free some space because I didn't have enough so I unchecked many songs. Now none of my playlists will sync.

Also, as an update to the earlier post, I've tried the "5 R's" to attempt to fix the issue including the reboot and the restore options with no results.

  • I've created a play list on itunes but only want to transfer the play list manually, not sync entire ipod due to large size of itunes file. Playlist is made but I can't seem to drag to the ipod

I've created a playlist for my ipod but want to add it manually instead of using the full sync feature as I have a rather large music file in itunes but am trying to add to a 30 gig pod. How do I do this?

I have reviewed numerouse forums and have tried many suggestion but still can't get my classic 80 G ipod to sync music. Everything was deleted from my ipod after synching it to my library. I only had a few podcast that needed updating. I am not sure why the ipod had the items deleted in the first place. I linked the ipod to itunes and was told I needed to reset the ipod. I reset it, loaded the newest software and still could not get the ipod to synch. I have 4335 songs and podcast total. The ipod would sync to 3775 and just stop. I have deleted itunes reinstalled. Reformatted the ipod. Reset the ipod. I have followed all suggestion and still can't get the ipod to update. Even after the ipod appears to be updated when it locks up and I disconnect it the songs do not show. Any suggestions would be so appreciated.

  • 2nd generation Ipod nano not syncing?

My 2nd generation Ipod nano won't sync up with my Itunes library anymore after updating to Mountain Lion and the latest version of Itunes.  I plug it into the USB port on the laptop and the Ipod beeps and seems to be getting charged by the laptop but no sign of connectivity on Itunes.  I've also got an Ipod shuffle that I used just earlier today and it seemed to work fine with the same set up.  I'd like to switch back to using the Nano though and it seems to work fine other than Itunes not recognizing it now.  I know it's old but if it seems to work fine and i'd like to keep using it if I can sync it up.  Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro OSX 10.8.2.

I have unfortuantly had the exact same problem following my update to iTunes 11.

  • Ipod nano not syncing with Windows 7

Just replaced my XP with Windows7.  Downloaded ITunes and have downloaded my music from cloud.  My IPod Nano is not shown on the screen, yet the battery charges.  It seems that Dell has too many obstacles preventing music from syncing to nano.  What needs to be disabled?

  • ITunes 11.1.3.8 is not syncing my playlists.

I have old playlists on my iphone but any new changes I make don't take place when I sync the phone.  The apps and other music in the main library sync, but the playlists never do.

Okay, so since the volume I had the music library on was mounted with AFP I tried unmounting it. Then I remounted it from the Finder with SMB, opened iTunes, and set the new path in the iTunes prefs window to point at the new volume, then clicked 'yes' where iTunes asked me to organise the library. Then closed and re-opened iTunes. All went smooth, and since that manoeuvre all has been working normally without the accessing issue.
I suspect that since SMB2 is now the preferred mounting protocol, and AFP is deprecated, a shift to SMB might solve the question, and it did.

  • HT1386 iTunes not syncing all playlists?

When I sync my 5s with my Mac, the playlists are not updating or syncing.  Furthermore, some of the songs are not playing again.  I had this problem before and never really could figure out what fixed it.  It just began working again.  Now, however, I have tried updating the software, re-syncing multiple times and it still won't work.  I had edited some of my playlists and whenever I sync my phone, it adds the old playlist to the Mac and adds a "1" to the title of what should be the new and updated playlist.  I have even deleted the old, original playlists and it's still happening.  After doing that, I can't get one of the playlists back on the phone at all.
    Anyone else with this experience?

That still doesn't work.  I've tried several times.  Some of my songs, which are not purchased songs by the way, but songs off of cds are also not playable now.
When I check the box to un-sync the music, then click apply, a sync starts and immediately the box unchecks itself and all the playlists repopulate on the Mac screen.  They aren't even being deleted from my phone either.
