Question on Account and I have more than one!

I hope this is the right forum in which to post this question. If not, please someone indicate where I should post.
At present I have 2 Apple Discussion accounts. I'd like to close one and just use one (this one). BUT the other one has the same sign-on eMail as my .Mac account - and I don't want to find out that they are connected and that by canceling the [email protected] (not the real eM address) Apple Discussions account, that I also cause problems with my .Mac account.
Perhaps they are NOT related?
And if not, how do I cancel an Apple discussions account?
Further - how do I know which account is used for the Apple Store? Is that related to either the Apple Discussions or the .Mac account?
Thanks for any explication here or where to go to get it.
Regards,
Steve

Hi Steve!
"I'd like to close one and just use one (this one)."
There is no way that you can close, delete, or combine Discussions accounts.
You could just stop using one.
I would think you could access the online Apple Store with either account.
After you quit using the other account, those posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 2 to 6 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
Threads in heavily trafficked Forums, may be archived more rapidly than those in areas, with less activity.
The Topics that you started using the other account, will show your Other Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:
Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories
Restrict by Date Range: All
Restrict by Username: Your Other Alias
all of your posts, created since about 11/13/05, would be found.
Good Luck!

  • Hi, can anyone tell me if I can have more than one iTunes account on the same PC. I've just bought my wife an iPad2 and want to create a separate account for her. Can I do that on the same PC as mine?

Hi, can anyone tell me if I can have more than one iTunes account on the same PC. I've just bought my wife an iPad2 and want to create a separate account for her. Can I do that on the same PC as mine? Thanks.

I would advise that you not set up a second Apple ID. It's really not necessary - having two Apple IDs won't affect how iTunes works with your iPads - and will just complicate matters. Each iPad will be treated independently and can be set to sync only the items you want on that particular iPad. If you really want to keep the two iPads separate, set up different iTunes libraries and have only those items you want on the related iPad in that library, rather than a different Apple ID. If you plan not to use a computer and just download directly to the iPads, you can again choose what apps and content each iPad gets.
But answering your specific question, you can have content from up to five iTunes Store accounts on any one computer or iPad. To create a new iTunes Store account, you'll need a different email address, and from there you just create the account the same way you did the first one.
    Regards.

How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer. The only way is for you to have a separate user account to log into on that computer.

  • Can't I get my old iTunes that I have purchased downloaded from Apple?  I don't have the old computer anymore.  Also, is there a number to call if I think I have more than one account and would like them to consolidate my accounts?

    I have two problems:
    1.  I no longer have my old computer and want to download the iTunes I have purchased in previous years.  Aren't they all in "the cloud?"
    2.  I think I have more than one account and would like to get them combined.  Is there a good number or email to Apple that I could get that done?
    THanks!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Have you failed to do this?
You can redownload some iTunes purchases in some countries:
Download past purchases - Apple Support
As provided, you cannot merge accounts
    Sorry

I have business and personal e-mail accounts with different contacts. Can I have more than one address book on my iPhone?

Set up an additional user account and use one for work and one for personal stuff - each will have a separate address book. Turn on fast user switching for easy switching between the two.

You can neither merge or delete them. Pick one and stop using the other. If they both have purchases associated with them you will have to keep using both.

  • Can u have more than one account on a single pc as i dont want others using my account, and we all use same pc

can i have more than one itunes account on a single pc, as i dont want others using my acount

The most practical route is usually for each person to have their own user account in Windows. Then everyone's iTunes library will be completely separate and each person can have and use their own iTunes Store account without impacting anyone else's information and account.

  • Contacts & iCloud: can you have more than one iCloud account syncing with Contacts on the Mac?

I want to set up a shared iCloud account for multiple users in a (very) small office environment, where several new iOS devices and, for the moment, two Macs (2012 13" MacBook Pro and 2013 Mac Mini) will be able to read/write to a shared Contacts account – and at the same time maintain a second, personal iCloud account linked to the same Contacts app on one machine, which account's contacts data will remain private and inaccessible to the other Macs/devices which are likewise using the shared account.
Can this be done? (I.e., can Contacts app on a Mac include separate iCloud accounts?)
If so, how to set it up?
    Thanks

Thanks for your answer. There's no problem with others accessing that Mac – it's used by one person only – my question is can you add a second iCloud account to Contacts. Over the past two days I had tried to add the shared iCloud account to Contacts and kept getting failures. But maybe the server was down or the ISP was weird: your response assumes it can be done and so, to my embarrassment, I tried again just now and violá, it's done. Thanks again.
P.S. Finding a simple presentation that makes clear you can have more than one iCloud accounts syncing to Contacts at the same time was very hard to find, either from Apple or others on the web. Maybe I don't know how to search, but they could do with a clear explanation of this for the uninitiated.

  • Can I have more than one e-mail address attached to my apple account?

I can't seem to create different FaceTime accounts using different e-mail addresses but with 1 Apple account. My daughter's IPod is attached to my Apple account, but I want to use her e-mail address for her FaceTime app. Any thoughts?

how do i sign up for a new e-mail address @icloud or @me; and can I have more than one e-mail address?
You create an @icloud.com address in the first place by signing into Settings>iCloud with your Apple ID and choosing an addres - you can only create an @icloud.com address, not @me.com.
Then if you want further addresses on the same account you can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account or move it to another account.

  • Can i have more than one icloud account on my apple id

Can I have more than one icloiud account on one apple id

No: but it costs nothing to create another Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with that. The only caveat is that you must associate a different email address with the new Apple ID from that with the old ID (since the address will itself become the ID) - you could open a free email address with Yahoo or Gmail.

  • HT2731 can i have more than one apple id on a computer? As when we go away we want to facetime from our macpro to our main mac at home and both are registered under the same apple ID. Thanks

Can you have more than one apple id on a computer. We are going away and want to facetime from our macpro to the mac computer at home but both are registered under the same apple ID. What should we do ?

I will share with you what I have done to manage this with my family.  While the solution isn't without flawes, it seems to do the trick.  First, you need to have one person who is managing the synching of everyone's devices.  In my family, I have three iphones, about to be four, and five ipads.  We all synch to the same apple ID to allow one another to take seemless advantage of our Itunes, which is on our Imac.  To synch individual music or video interests, we simply select which playlists we want and manually synch that way.  A couple of us use imatch and the cloud to make the entire library accessable as well.  With respect to the imessage, mail, contacts, etc. we each have a gmail account for our individual emails, contacts etc.  So for instance, my forth grade daughter has a gmail account that we choose to synch her contacts, calendar, etc to and then that is also the account where she receives her imessages from on her ipad and itouch. My son, who has an iphone and ipad, does the same thing, but under settings, he goes to imessage and checks his phone number and his email as his preferred way to receive imessages and texts.  My wife and I do the same thing.  To avoid having everyone see one anothers contracts etc, we only synch contacts from our individual email accounts.  Here is the downfall to this:  When you update your phone or add a new device, apple always wants to reset everyone's facetime and imessage settings and then low and behold we are all receiving imessages from one another's friends etc.  To work around this, I simply take each of their devices and go to their imessage settings and only check the email and phone numbers relative to their devices.  I dont' know is this is the best solution, but it seems to work for us.
