Question On BAPI

The SAP's SD module have BAPI that allow me to create sale order or get those detail. But, i have to insert a lot of data that i'm not really need.
How can i solve it??
Can i create table ,RFC and expose it as BAPI. It is same as using the SAP existing SD module(it's BAPI).

create RFC with required input parameters and within that RFC call the standard BAPI

  • List of Questions on BAPI and OOPs

    Hi All,
I am new to the OOPs and BAPI's.can any one gives me complete idea on below questions by providing good examples.
    1) Importance of the class, Interface type, Object and Instance ?
    2) Why we need oops concepts since we are using normal process successfully, i mean with out oops also ?
    3) functionality of BAPI ?
    4) Difference between COMMIT WORK and BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT ?
    5) Why COMMIT WORK wont useful for BAPI's ?
    6) If you give me good source code to understand the concepts of class, Interface type, Object and Instance?
    7) In real time situations, do we need to create classes or in SAP we will use only existed bapis?
    8) The process of creating customized BAPI's [entire scenario]
Since i asked lot of questions in one thread, i decided to give rewards even if you provide me solution for any of the above.
    Thanks
    Jaya

    Hi Jaya,
Answer 1. Class is a template for creating objects. Object can also be called as instance.
Interfaces allow you to use different classes in a uniform way (polymorphism).
Answer 2. Normal abap is a procedural programming where as by using abap objects we can achieve object oriented programing.
    Answer 6. Source code:
In below code i have created a interface and a class which is implementing the interface. I have declared a reference variable of type interface and created a object. Then i have called a method.
    REPORT  ZABAPOBJECTS_INTERF.
          INTERFACE I1
    INTERFACE I1.
      METHODS METH1.
    ENDINTERFACE.                    "I1
          CLASS C1 DEFINITION
    CLASS C1 DEFINITION.
      PUBLIC SECTION.
        METHODS: METH2.
        INTERFACES: I1.
    ENDCLASS.                    "C1 DEFINITION
          CLASS C1 IMPLEMENTATION
    CLASS C1 IMPLEMENTATION.
      METHOD I1~METH1.
WRITE: / 'This is a method one'.
      ENDMETHOD.                                                "I1~METH1
      METHOD METH2.
WRITE: / 'This is a method two'.
      ENDMETHOD.                                                "METH2
    ENDCLASS.                    "C1 IMPLEMENTATION
    START-OF-SELECTION.
      DATA : REF1 TYPE REF TO I1.
      CREATE OBJECT REF1 TYPE C1.
      CALL METHOD REF1->METH1.
Question 7: Yes we need to create a class but most probably we use the existing classes.

  • Question about BAPI Performance

I am currently evaluating options to implement interface between legacy systems and SAP. We have a requirement to post goodsmovement from external application. As some of my team claim that the BAPI approach can cause performance problems. I would like to cross check whether the claim is true.
And if it is, May I have your advice how can we prevent such problem about performance?
Ho w can I get additional source of information?
    Kindly advise.
The BAPI which we are going to use is BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE
    Thank you

    No performance problem is there.
Infact BAPI is advisable against BDC. Also since BAPI is like FM there is no issue.
I am using it in lot of the objects we have created.
    Cheers

  • Question about BAPI function BAPI_PP_TIMETICKET

I would like to post a production order confirmation by using the function BAPI_PP_TIMETICKET, however, an error "Total confirmation quantity not equal to planned confirmation quantity" is raised.
However, when I did it manually in CO11N, I could save the transaction successfully despite "Total confirmation quantity not equal to planned confirmation quantity" since it was only a warning instead of error.
I would like to know how can I do the same using this function (or using other function?)? i.e. create the confirmation even though "Total confirmation quantity not equal to planned confirmation quantity". Thanks!

  • Odd question about BAPI to return doc number in BKPF-AWKEY ...

One of my colleagues here needs to retrieve doc number from within AWKEY in BKPF.
He knows he can do it with a simple select followed by a substring operation, but someone on the functional side is saying that it would be better if he could find an SAP-delivered FM or BAPI that returns the doc number within the AWKEY.
Any one know whether there is an FM or a BAPI that performs this specific retrieval of doc number from within AWKEY?
I don't see why there should be one, but maybe there is ....

    aRs -
    This is funny.
The developer got back to me this morning - he does want to pass the awkey and get the docno.
    So the BAPI you suggested:
    BKK_RFC_GL_GET_DOCNO_BY_AWKEY
    is exactly what he wanted.
    Thanks again.

  • Question about bapi BAPI_MTRREADDOC_UPLOAD

    Hi!
In transaction EL29,  I can modify the consumption field for a meter reading result.
Is it possible to do the same using BAPI_MTRREADDOC_UPLOAD? I don't see the consumption field in the structures.
If it is possible, could you give me an example of what are the fields we have to fill?
    Thanks!
    Cristian

    Cristian,
Structure BAPIEABLU, has the field READINGRESULT, which has to be set to SPACE (not 0). While doing so the ABLSTAT (MR Status) will set back to MR Order.
No Enhancement need to be done. It couldn't be simpler.
Hope it helps. Please award points.

If can to know that it is possible through fuction module f4in_table_value_equest. I tried this but iam unable to get the result.
I saw in search help docmentation that through import and export parameter it is possible.

    <b>Log data changes
The logging flag defines whether changes to the data records of a table should be logged. If logging is activated, every change (with UPDATE, DELETE) to an existing data record by a user or an application program is recorded in a log table in the database.
Note: Activating logging slows down accesses that change the table. First of all, a record must be written in the log table for each change. Secondly, many users access this log table in parallel. This could cause lock situations even though the users are working with different application tables.
    Dependencies
Logging only takes place if parameter rec/client in the system profile is set correctly. Setting the flag on its own does not cause the table changes to be logged.
The existing logs can be displayed with Transaction Table history (SCU3).</b>

  • Difference Between BAPI And RFC in ABAP

    Hi,
i want to know difference between BAPI and RFC in SAP,
can we call SAP GUI screen from NON SAP System Using BAPI.
    Reg,
    Hariharan

    Hi Ravishankar,
The difference is not importat while you understand the concept.
I think, RFC is the protocol for calling functions from external systems in R/3.
I understand like BAPI a series of complet functions that SAP offers you for use and model a business use.
But if I need program a function that can be called for external system i would call it RFC_NAME, because is a unique function that makes a single task.
In other words, the difference i think is about work idea more than another thing.
    RFC
A remote function call is a call to a function module running in a system different from the caller's. The remote function can also be called from within the same system (as a remote call).
RFC consists of two interfaces : A calling interface for ABAP Programs and a calling interface for Non-SAP programs.
The RFC Interface takes care of :-
    - Converting all parameter data to the representation needed in the remote system
Calling the communication routines needed to talk to the remote system.
Handling communications errors, and notifying the caller, if desired ( using EXCEPTIONS paramater of the CALL FUNCTION).
    BAPI
BAPIs are standardized programming interfaces (methods) enabling external applications to access business processes and data in the R/3 System.
BAPIs provide stable and standardized methods to achieve seamless integration between the R/3 System and external applications, legacy systems and add-ons.
BAPIs are defined in the BOR(Business object repository) as methods of SAP business object types that carry out specific business functions.
BAPIs are implemented as RFC-enabled function modules and are created in the Function Builder of the ABAP Workbench.
The most critical difference btwn BAPI and FM is that BAPI can be wrapped in Business objects whereas RFC cant.
BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
Reading instances of SAP business objects
GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method. BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.

  • Difference betrween BAPI and RFC

    Hi All
Can anyone tell me the difference between BAPI and RFC.
I am unable to find it out ,except one,ie  BAPI is based on object oriented concept .
please justify your answers with real scenerios.

    Remote Function Call:
RFC is an SAP interface protocol. Based on CPI-C, it considerably simplifies the programming of communication processes between systems.
RFCs enable you to call and execute predefined functions in a remote system - or even in the same system.
RFCs manage the communication process, parameter transfer and error handling.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/22/042860488911d189490000e829fbbd/frameset.htm.
    BAPI
BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
A BAPI is remotely enabled function module
ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access.
Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects.
You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository)
which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA.
In this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system
in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call.
Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types.
These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types.
Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs.
Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
    Difference Between BAPI and RFC
What is the main difference between BAPI and RFC and difference between BAPI and BDC?
BAPI is used only when it is available for the particular transaction like Delivery Sales order. but BDC can be used for any
transaction which have screen and fields.
BAPI is directly updated the database instead BDC run through the screen flow.
So BAPI can't handle all the flow logic checking and enhancement put by programmer to faciliate the user requirement.
    Difference between BAPI and BDC:
BAPI is a higher end usage for tranfering the data from SAP to non-SAP and vice-versa. for ex: if we are using VB application, where in that we want to connect to SAP and retireve the data, and then change and update the data in SAP for that purpose we can use that.
Apart from that, we can also use it for Uploading/Downloading the data from SAP to Non-SAP like BDC, provided we have an existing BAPI for that.
BAPI function modules will also do all the checks required for data integrity like Transactions for BDC.
There is one more advantage using BAPI instead of BDC. When we go for upgradation, there might be pozzibility to change the screen elements for transactions depending on the requirement. In that case, our BDC pgm may or may not work (depending on the screen changes they have made). Unless and until we prepare new BDC we cant use the old BDC pgm. But in BAPI, SAP promises that they are going to keep the old BAPI and for new functionality they will provide an upgraded BAPI. Until we write a new BAPI pgm, we can use the exisitng BAPI pgm.
BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA.
In this case you only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI. It is not possible to connect SAP to Non-SAP systems to retrieve data using RFC alone. RFC can acces the SAP from outside only through BAPI and same is for vice versa access.
RFC is the protocol used by SAP for remote communication, that is, for communications between remote (independent) systems. RFC is used for communications between two independent SAP systems, or for communications between an SAP system and a non-SAP system, such as an external application. It can also be used for communications between modules on the same system. Using the RFC interfaces you can extend the functionality of R/3 applications from an external program.

  • About RFC and BAPI

    Hello Masters,
What Makes the exact difference between RFC and BAPIs. Both can perfom same thing. BAPI uses the RFCs only. Then how can it justify?
    Thank you

    RFC:
RFC --- > Function module and general will be used to make call to function
sending the function (XI has RFC adapter)
    BAPI:
BAPI ---> Other version of RFC (Objected oriented) mostly we will use for Sync

BAPI is nothing but the Business process programing interface which are standard and stable and these are store in the business object repository.
Standardized programming interface that enables external applications to access business processes and data in an SAP System
RFC is the remote function call which is used to call the function remotely which may be in same system or ather system

    RFC means remote function call,
these are the function modules which can help u to access across the sap and from sap to third party front end,
BAPI means Business application programing interface which is the RFC enable function module and uses in OOPS concept.

This is a short description of BAPI and RFC
BAPI stands for Business Application Programming Interface. It is a library of functions that are released to the public as an interface into an existing SAP system from an external system.
RFC is the protocol used to call functions in an R/3 system by a caller external to R/3 or to call programs external to R/3 from an R/3 system.

  • Some doubt on bapi

    hi
1)if want to use bapi, we must check the function module in method, right? why so many people use the function module in the abap program?
2)what is the difference for bapi FM and other common FM?
    thanks

  • What the advantages of having an BAPI over Other data migrations

What the advantages of having an BAPI over Other data migrations

    Th advantages of BAPI
    1. Simple to use (its just an FM)
    2. Not cumbersome like bdc
where we have to record each and every screen
    sequence.
    3. SAP guarantees the consistency
    of bapi in future releases.
One of the big plusses for BAPIs is that the interface and function are not supposed to change. This is a big plus when you do upgrades or hot packs because the transaction can change (format, required inputs etc) which means you then need to update the call transaction.
Some of the BAPIs are better documented and easier to use than others.
You usually need to perform the BAPI that actually does the COMMIT after you call your BAPI.
The Program coding for calling a BAPI is usually cleaner than setting up the screen flow etc for the Call Transaction.
You don't need to worry about special data circumstances interrupting the normal data flow of the screens and causing errors because of that.
BAPIs probably have better performance since they don't do the screen flow processing.
In general if the BAPI exists for the transaction you want to perform and you can figure out how to use it the BAPI is probably the best way to go.
This is just from my experience working with both BAPI and Call Transaction. I have had some very good successes with BAPIs, but very occasionally found that I could not get the BAPI to perform the update I needed.
Refer the transaction BAPI for detail information.

Java Connector(JCO) can call not only BAPI's but also the function modules which are remotely enabled..
BAPI's as i said earlier are remotely enabled function modules..
Hence, JCO can call also BAPI's(n not only BAPI's as u mentioned).
Check the following BDC over BAPI
The steps to be followed are :
    1. Find out the relevant BAPI (BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE for VA02).
    [for VA01 use BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2]
    2. Create a Z program and call the BAPi (same as a Funtion module call).
    2. Now, if you see this BAPi, it has
    -> Importing structures.
eg: SALESDOCUMENT: this will take the Sales order header data as input.
    -> Tables parameters:
eg: ORDER_ITEM_IN: this will take the line item data as input.
    Note :
Only specify fields that should be changed
Select these fields by entering an X in the checkboxes
Enter a U in the UPDATEFLAG field
Always specify key fields when changing the data, including in the checkboxes
The configuration is an exception here. If this needs to be changed, you need to complete it again fully.
Maintain quantities and dates in the schedule line data
    Possible UPDATEFLAGS:
    U = change
    D = delete
    I = add
    Example
    1. Delete the whole order
    2. Delete order items
    3. Change the order
    4. Change the configuration
    Notes
    1. Minimum entry:
You must enter the order number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
You must always enter key fields for changes.
You must always specify the update indicator in the ORDER_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commit control:
The BAPI does not run a database Commit, which means that the application must trigger the Commit
so that the changes are read to the database. To do this, use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT BAPI.
For further details... refer to the Function Module documentation for the BAPi.

  • LSMW what BAPI to use to load Business Partner?

Could anyone tell me what BAPI to use for business partner? i think its part of CRM..... I'll work out what a BAPI is later! But i gather batch recording is not the go?
I don't know anything about SAP, BAPIs and Idocs and Batch recordings!!! I have a number of flat files, I want to import please show be some direction, would be appreciated.
    mike

    Thanks,
Yes we have used the recording tool and actually loaded one file in the SAP system, as a test, however we have fields in "tabs" ie one customer has many phone numbers - a multi structure record. I believe the recording tool is no good for such cases!
I'm not sure whether I have need to have one input file or whether I need to have two files one for cutomer and another for phone details.
The 2nd question is my original question what BAPI or other method can I use for customer (business partner) details, as the recording method is no good for data with 1 to many relationships. HELP!
