Question on burning MP3 Cds

I'm new to iTunes. I set up my music library & would now like to burn selected songs to a cd. However, the "burn Playlist to Cd" button is not located at the bottom of the iTunes window, as the help instructions state. The "burn playlist to cd" option under "File" is also not highlighted.
What am I missing?
TIA.

I have selected the songs from my playlist ... (emphasis added)
iTunes burns an entire playlist, not a part of one.
So you <a href="<a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93045"> create a playlist  with exactly the songs you want to burn to a CD. Make sure they're all checked and then select (highlight) the playlist itself in the Source List.
The Burn Disc button should appear.

  • Troubles burning mp3 cds

i'm able to burn audio cds fine but whenever i attempt a mp3 cd, it is never able to finish during the "finishing" stage. it usually just freezes. this whole process is very strange to me considering i used to burn mp3 cds several times a week a few months ago then i took a break, now this happens...
    any suggestions?
also, i have already uninstalled and reinstalled as well as performed a system restore.

I am rumming Windows XP and the latest version of Itunes 7.1. The question I have is this, does music have to be stored on the hard disk in MP3 format in order to burn an MP3 CD? In reading the documentation I get different answers.

  • ITunes 11 - How do I burn mp3 CDs WITH folders??

I know how to burn mp3 cds on iTunes 11, but all the mp3s are thrown into a root folder.  I would like to be able to separate albums into different folders.  I'm sure this is pretty simple, yet I cannot figure it out.  This is for iTunes 11!  Thanks.

If you sort the playlist by Album, they will be burned into Album folders on the CD.
If you sort by Artist, they will be out into Artist then Album folders.
See this -> iTunes: How to set the play order of songs on an MP3 CD
(it should be the same with iTunes 11 but I haven't tried it yet)

  • Third party tool for burning MP3 CDs?

    Hi,
Are there any third party tools for burning MP3 CDs from an iTunes library?
The iTunes functionality is not sufficient for me for two reasons:
*) I have ALAC files in my library and iTunes won't convert them for putting them on the CD. I know I can convert them in iTunes, but I am looking for a more elegant solution.
*) iTunes seems to put all files in the root of the CD. My car stereo does not use MP3 tags but subdirectories to recognize albums, so I need a directory for every album.
    Any hints are appreciated!
    Thanks, Robert

Easily done. See iTunes: How to set the play order of songs on an MP3 CD. Basically, if you sort the playlist by album, iTunes will burn the MP3 CD with album folders.
Thanks, that solves the second problem, which was the more pressing anyway.
Do you maybe also have an idea how to get rid of the number in front of the album title in the directory name?
    Cheers, Robert

  • Burning mp3 cds using AAC files

How can I burn mp3 cds using AAC files from iTunes?

You can't burn MP3 CDs from MP4 (AAC) files. You have to convert the AAC files in in iTunes to MP3 before you can burn them to MP3 disc.
You can use iTunes to convert any copy protection free songs in your library another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. If you are using iTunes 8 go to iTunes>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings, change your option to MP3 for example. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version": iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format
One exception to this are standard copy protected songs (if you haven't upgraded to iTunes Plus versions) purchased from the iTunes Music Store which can't be directly converted due to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) copy protection. However you can burn these to an Audio CD which will work like any regular CD.

  • 7.6.2-burned mp3 CDs won't play in players that 7.5-burned versions did

I have discovered yet another beef with iTunes 7.6.2... does anyone else have this problem?
mp3 CDs burned in iTunes 7.6.2 on my Intel iMac will not play in my car player, while identical mp3 CDs burned in itunes 7.5x on my iBook G4 WILL play in my car player (too bad my main library is on the iMac). The 7.6.2-burned CD's will play in my son's new car player, but not mine, which is a couple years older.
What the heck??? Is there some hidden change that now mp3 CDs burned in the newest iTunes will only play in some kinds of players, whether or not the players are all marked as mp3 compatible?
What does anyone know about this issue?
Because i have to decide whether to buy a new car stereo, or deinstall 7.6.2 and go back to some earlier version (i really don't like to navigate iPod menus while driving, i prefer CDs, so using an iPod instead isn't a good solution for me). or is it the intel iMac that is causing the problem? It doesn't matter what burner or user account i use- i tried an external burner, and i tried another user account. The burned files are identical, they aren't an issue.
I am in OS 10.4.11 on the iMac and 10.4.7 on the iBook, if that makes any difference (frankly, i'm afraid to upgrade the iBook to newest versions at this point).

    Just on a hunch.
Pop one of your 7.6.2 burned MP3 disks in a computer and check if the music is nested in folder by the Artist and Album. Then do the same with one of your older burned disks.
Some older units will not accept MP3 disks with the media grouped in folders. I found this to be the case on a couple of MP3 capable machines that are just a few years old.
My current version of iTunes (7.7 needed for the iPhone v2) seems to only burn MP3 files nested in folders. I found a machine that had not been updated and was still running iTunes 7.0.2 and burned an MP3 disc with all the files numbered and in the root of the disc.
Also, make some older MP3 units do not like the variable bit rate and may also be choosy about the bit rate is. ie 128 vs 160 vs 320

  • ANY way to burn MP3 CDs/DVDs with folders on iTunes??

Hey all, so I was trying to backup my mp3 collection onto a burned DVD or two (it's pretty big), but that could still play them when I put it into my computer now and then.
iTunes has always been pretty good about burning MP3 discs that'll easily play in your computer (I haven't yet tried burning a DVD as an MP3 disc, but I've heard they work the same). However, the one drawback about it that I see is that the MP3 discs don't really separate the actually albums/songs on the disc when you try opening it on the desktop into actual folders by album/artist/etc., they're all just kind of cluttered together (so if you wanna recopy/reburn an individual album off an MP3 disc back to your computer, you've got to do a Show File in Finder on iTunes and hunt & drag 'em in the Finder, as opposed to just having one folder that you can drag back onto the desktop, Toast, etc.) And that's just with one 650-700 MB CDR; if you're dealing with 4.7 GIGS of music, you can see how it'd be a pain to organize and keep track of).
I know that for PC, Windows Media Player can find any play data CDs with music on them pretty easily. Is there a similar player for Mac users??
I hate to ask about other programs on an iTunes forum, but maybe you guys can relate to this problem, have found ways to deal with it (in the past I've just color-labeled the songs according to album so I can visually see which songs go with which on the Finder, but again, you can see how that'd be a pain to do w/ 4.7 GBs worth). Thanks.

Sort the playlist by Album and Burn and the DVD will be in Album folders.
Sort by Artist and Burn and the DVD will be in Artist/Album folders.

  • Help needed ... Burning mp3 CDs

I've created a playlist with 100 songs that I like the best. Now I wish I can burn them to a MP3 disk so I can listen to it in my car.
Can someone help me out for that??
Sorry about posting the wrong place, but Im in hurry. It seems like nobody has even read it in the iTurns sucsion.
    Thanks in advance

    Creating your own MP3 CDs
You can use iTunes to create a data CD with the music stored in MP3 format. MP3 is a high-quality, Internet-standard encoding method. You can listen to the MP3 CDs you create on special consumer CD players or on your computer.
You can store over 12 hours of music, or about 150 songs, on a 650 MB CD-R disc.
    1. Choose iTunes > Preferences, then click the Advanced button at the top of the window and click Burning.
    2. Choose MP3 CD as the Disc Format, then click OK.
    3. Select the playlist containing the songs you want to burn to the CD, and make sure all the songs you want to include on the CD have a checkmark beside them.
You can only burn a CD from the songs in a playlist, and only checked songs are included.
If the playlist contains more songs than will fit on one CD, iTunes will burn as many songs as fit on the CD. You may want to move some of the songs to a new playlist, and then burn each playlist to a separate CD. (You can see the size of the selected playlist at the bottom of the iTunes window.)
    4. Click the Burn Disc button in the upper-right corner of the iTunes window.
    5. Insert a blank CD-R disc and click Burn Disc again.
If you plan to only play the CD using your computer, you can also use a CD-RW disc. To play it on a stereo, use a CD-R disc.
If your playlist includes songs in formats other than MP3, such as songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store, they will not be burned on the CD.

  • Burn mp3 cds with protected AAC?

i noticed the new itunes site said "Play them anywhere
Create audio CDs to play in CD players like the one in your car or home stereo. Or make MP3 CDs to play on Mac and Windows computers and in MP3-compatible car stereos and CD players.".....does this include music you buy? why would they put this if it isnt even for music you can buy from them?

No, I imagine that nothing has changed, and you can still only burn audio CDs from purchased music, not mp3 CDs.

  • Burning mp3 cds on zen mirco softw

the creative solutions software has apparently got a default setting for its mp3 burn list thats alphabetical which means no matter what order i put the tracks (theres lots of them) on the list it reorders them. which is a complete wind up. also the file names in joliet? script will only be accepted if they are less than 64 characters which many of them arent.can anybody help please.
    regards lloyd

    - First of all, lloydlove is burning a data CD, not audio CD. My guess is that when he replied SSR that he is burning "audio", he was actually referring to burning MP3 files into a MP3 data CD.
    - When burning in to an MP3 data CD, the notion of track order does not apply. There is no such thing as track order for MP3 data CD. An MP3 data CD simply contains MP3 files. You can choose to view the files in whichever order you want by clicking the Windows Explorer's column. For example, to view by Filename order, by file date order, etc. You can also view by artist order, album order if you enable the artist and album column in WIndows Explorer. So, this is not a problem with MediaSource.
    - The current MediaSource uses Joliet format. I do not see any settings to use otherwise. So, for now, you have to bear with the limitation of the filename.

  • Newb Question for burning DVD/CDs

I have an external DVD writer on my iMac.
I got the thing last month and an completely new to Apple (sorta)
Now how do I make a data CD and DVD?
On Winblows XP all I need to do is select the files, right click and click on SEND FILES TO CD for making data CDs.

    Will iDVD do the trick?
Thanks for the looking at this simple newb question.

Now how do I make a data CD and
DVD?Drag the files to the icon of the
blank CD/DVD that appears in the
    Finder.However for DVD I need 3rd party
software. You might want to try Patc
    hBurn.Will iDVD do the
trick? No, iDVD is only for making video
DVDs and it requires a G4 processor.
    Thanks for the tip Duane.
I was just reading abotu burning CD on another site. It mentions about what you said, drag the files to the CD.
However I am reading in my profiler that burning is NOT supported by OS X on this CD/DVD writer.
Will Patchburn or any other software overcome this?

  • Burning mp3 cds- what rate?

At what rate will Itunes burn an mp3 CD? Will the quality be as good as my 128kbps AAC files?

iTunes can convert them for you.
Converting in iTunes means making copies of the songs in the new format of your choice.
Go to Preferences>Advanced>Importing and select 'MP3 Encoder' at 'Import Using'.
Select 'High Quality (160 kbps)' at 'Setting:'
Select your songs that need conversion (are not MP3s) and choose 'Convert Selection to MP3' from the Advanced menu in the menubar.
When the conversion is done, select the converted files and others that didn't need conversion and put them in a playlist.
Add the 'Date Added' column in View Options (command-J) and sort on Date Added to quickly find the converted copies.
In Preferences>Advanced>Burning set the 'Disc Format:' to 'MP3 CD'.
Select the playlist with your MP3's and click the 'Burn Disc' icon.
To set the play order of the MP3s, read this article:
iTunes: How to set the play order of songs on an MP3 CD
If your original songs are AIFF or Apple Lossless, you can choose 192 kbps MP3, although you probably won't notice any difference with 160 kbps on home audio systems. If you have a high-end system you could notice the difference.
Converting 128 kbps AAC to 192 kbps MP3 isn't of much use, 160 kbps will do. The reason for this is 'transcoding' them from one lossy format into another lossy format. That won't do good to the audio quality.
If you want the best quality, re-import your CDs in AIFF or Apple Lossless and then convert them.

  • Burning MP3 CDs to be used on my car's MP3 Radio

I am looking for an official answer from Apple stating that the songs and audiobooks that I have purchased cannot be burned as an MP3 CD (except for the ones in the "plus" format).
The files are generally speaking rather expensive, but I have decided to choose iTunes as prefered platform a while back as it seemed extremely portable to me. Now it does not seem so anymore, and I want to either find an answer to my issue, or take a decision on how to continue.
    Thank you for your time.

I am looking for an official answer from Apple stating that the songs and audiobooks that I have purchased cannot be burned as an MP3 CD
    Good enough for you?
iTunes: Music purchased from iTunes Store cannot be burned to MP3 format CD
"Songs purchased from the iTunes Store are in AAC Protected format. You cannot convert them to other formats, including MP3. You can, however, back them up to a data CD or DVD, or you can burn them to an audio CD."

  • Trouble burning Mp3 Cds???

So i was trying to organize my songs into something and i read somewhere here that you can sort them by the artist or album by sorting them that way before you burn it. And it organaized the songs on all of the cds, but the problem was on 3 of them not all of the songs were burned. Even though they would fit they were not showing up. It seems that it can only hold about 25 artists songs and then after it shows the artists but no files. Is there anyway to change a setting so that it will burn all of them or am i going to have to sort them a different way?

any help would be appreciated thanks...

  • Burning MP3 CDs

Can I burn my itunes playlist onto a MP3 CD-R CD? If so, how?

Yes. Make sure the files are already in MP3 format. If they are not, refer to support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550 for conversion instructions.
Put the MP3s in a playlist, and click Burn Disc at the lower right. When the dialog comes up, choose "MP3 CD."
