Question on buying an iphoto book

I've loaded pix onto every page but when I press the BUY BOOK button, I get this message: "Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can buy this book." What to do??

Find the page that does not have a photo on it - the most common cause of this is a full page photo layout with no photo behind a full page photo

  • How can I turn my French apple account into Australian one to be able to buy a Iphoto book I've made?

    hi
How can I turn my french apple account into an Australian one , to be able to buy a Iphoto book I 've created ?

And you need to set the "Print Products Store" in the iPhoto Preferences "Advanced" to the country you are in. The credit card you will be using with your AppleID needs to be valid in the country your AppleID is registered to. Will you be staying permanently in Australia? Maybe it wuld be simpler to create a second AppleID just for the time of your stay there.

  • DO NOT BUY AN IPHOTO BOOK!!!!!!!

I have been going at it with Apple now for over a month! I ordered a book and it came back with blank pages and with photos not scaled properly. (This was my second iPhoto book. The first one also had several minor printing flaws which we overlooked) I sent three emails via the iPhoto support page and received no replies. Apple promises a response within 48 hrs. Then some two weeks later they had the nerve to send me a survey thanking me for using the web support function and please rate "how we did!" You can only imagine how I responded. I next tried contacted a live person at Apple Care to help me out. I provided them my order number. They indicated that was not a valid order number. Turns out that Apple Care cannot track orders made through iPhoto! No one at Apple Care was even familiar with what an iPhoto book was. I then called Apple corporate hq's and spoke to a "customer care" rep. She assured me I would be contacted within 48 hrs (sound familiar) and my problem would be resolved. I heard nothing for over a week. Calls back to Ms. Graser of customer care were met by voice mail. Finally this week I received a canned response back from Apple. They noted that they would credit the charge back to my card. They also asked if I were interested in reordering my book and if so they would "assist" me. I replied that I was interested in trying to reorder the book. So what does Apple do? Without any further contact to find out why the book came back incomplete (such as a corrupt file or incomlete file transfer), they reprinted the same screwed up book and recharged my credit card for the full amount (including $15 for express shipping)!
BUYER BEWARE! Apple provides no support or quality control for this product. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Heidi,
Welcome to the forums, and I'm sorry about your book. I too have ordered a book very recently and also found several photos to be on the dark side, and several too red as well.
But I believe that there's a "but" here.
I don't know your professional background -- I work in the print industry (I design pages) and I know how hard it is to get the color correction on images just right, EVEN if your monitor is calibrated and your particular version of image processing software is optimized for use with your specific output device. And that's when a professional is behind the wheel, which I am not.
My iMac's monitor is not calibrated, I am not trained to make images look their best for reproduction, and I am using a consumer-level application. With a little bit of research on these forums (which you have done), anyone can find out that the reviews on the iPhoto books' quality are mixed... At the very least you'll know you're taking a calculated risk -- as you said yourself.
I would consider myself a picky customer, but I am not disappointed with the quality of these books, especially considering the price, and knowing how difficult and unpredictable color correction can be. If you have some photos that are good (even if it is only 25 out of 142), then I would suspect the problem is with the "pre-pressing" of these images, not the printing. If the printing was to blame, they would ALL be bad.
That said, I am still sorry about your negative experience. We anticipate these books to be great, and it's a bummer when they aren't.
Full disclosure: I am in fact asking for a refund as well on my recent book, and I too don't like the fact that there is no phone support for iPhoto orders. I sent my e-mail 24 hours ago, so it hasn't been 48 hours yet. The reason I am asking for a refund is not due to print quality (I think I am responsible for the color/darkness thing), but because my $57 softcover 8.5x11 book arrived in a flimsy envelope and got bent during shipping. The (cheaper) calendars I ordered the same day arrived in sturdy boxes, so the logic behind that escapes me.
Anyway. For the future, if you've got a project you really care about, I'd recommend spending a little extra and ordering a "test book" with the minimum amount of pages, using only your most challenging photos, so you'll know how to tweak them for the final book. If it matters that much, the extra money will be well-spent, and in the end, the price/quality factor of these one-of-a-kind books will still be more than acceptable.
    Just my thoughts.

  • Problems buying an iPhoto book!

    Hi
I've made an iphoto book that I really like. I've spent tons of time making it and I finally tried to buy it. The upload went through without a problem and I got a confirmation and everything. The problems is that after two days I got an e-mail saying that "the file Apple received contains shifted and discolored images". They recommended making a preview of the book befores buying it, and I have done that and in the preview some of the pictures come out all wrong with wrong colours and disfigured images.
Can anybody help me? How can I fix this so that the pictures on my book look normal??
I really, really want to buy this photo album, so I hope someone can help me!

  • Trouble buying a Iphoto book that I created

What does this mean when I try to buy my photo book, I get a dialogue box that says
"Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can proceed with this book."
However, I checked all of my pages and frames and they all have photos as required.

I took your detailed advice.  I check every full page photo, noting the backgrounds on those pages.  If there was a grey background, I changed it to a colored background.  And if I found a full page photo on top of a full page photo background, I changed those backgrounds to colored ones.
Still get the error message from Apple when I try to buy my book.  Help!!!  Very frustrating

  • Progress freezes when buying an iphoto book

    Hiya,
I have created a book for my Nan's birthday and when I went to buy it the transferring data progress bar froze at about 1.20mb. I cancelled and tried again, this time it got to about 7mb (out of about 9mb) and froze so I decided to leave it incase it was just buffering or something. About three minutes later the transfer closed itself down but iPhoto and the 'Buy it now' page stayed up. I'm worried that if I keep clicking 'buy now' and repeating the process to see if it does work then I'll keep forking out the money each time. I didn't get any kind of confirmation page. Will it have charged me twice? an why is it freezing?
    Thanks, Leonora

You probably will not be charged and if you were Apple would give you a prompt refund
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Price Difference between creating and buying a iPhoto Book

I am wanting to purchase an XL iPhoto Hardcover book which is listed as $49.99 plus tax.  When I go to purchase my book however, it is telling me that the book is $73.85?  Any thoughts?  I didn't add any extra pages.

The base book is 20 pages and that is the base price - extra pages have an additional cost - you have 16 additional pages - if you delete 16 pages and order the base book of 20 pages you will get the base book price - as you have additional pages (no matter whether you added them on purpose of did it using AutoFlow) you have an additional cost per page
That is not a problem - it is a fact and has been the same since the first photos books were introduced in (I think) iPhoto 6 some eight years ago

  • Why do I get an error message when buying my iPhoto book?

It happens just after the (lengthy) transfer has completed. I have tried some of the tips on this site, eg changing account details, plugging computer directly into modem instead of wireless, turning off the screen saver. But it still happens.
What do I need to do? I have spent days putting together these books as a present and now I cant get them ordered....right at the end of a long arduous process.

I actually just worked it out for myself - I reentered all my data and it worked this time. But for one of the books somehow the formatting has all been messed up. Back to the drawing board...:-(

  • Buy iPhoto book

During the process of buying a iPhoto book, the system ask the delivery contact information, where it doesn't accept the phone number. So I can't finish the order process!
Is there a solution for this problem. Already try to create a new Apple ID within the order process and doesn't work out...same problem, doesn't accept the phone number!

There is a problem with phone numbers - if you search the forums you will find people have solved it by either not including the + (only didigits) or by moving one digit to the next field - you probably will have to experiment
the US phone number format is 10 digits aaa-ppp-nnn if you can fit your digits into that format it should work

  • IPhoto book upload error

I am trying to buy an iphoto book and while my photos are being uploaded I get the following error messge at page 51 of 75 (of my iphotobook): "There is a problem with the photo with the fileneame 'img139.jpg.' The full resolution version of this photo either cannot be located or is corrupt. Please replace photo or delete it from your book." Now, I searched for the file in question (img139.jpg) but could not find it. How do I go about finding the problem photo if the culprit file img139jpg is nowhere to be found? I tried to find the bad photo by reorganizing the photos in my book but I keep getting the same error message at the same point of the upload process (page 51 of 75 of my iphotobook). Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

I found a solution to my own problem, and I offer it to help others: I exported my saved my book to my desktop as a PDF (from File select Print to PDF) and then examined the PDF file I created. I noticed in the PDF file which photos didn't show up on the file and deleted them from my ibook. When I selected to buy the book everything went smoothly. Hope this helps. I welcome any further solutions.

  • Could not order iphoto book due to error not enough photos are filled

I am not able to buy the iphoto book , as there is a message that there is no enough photos in the frame , though every page as all the photos filled up . Please help

You do have at lease one unfilled photo frame - usually it is a full page photo page with another full page photos layout over it hiding the missing photo

  • PDF text pages in iPhoto books

I'm not sure that this is a problem. I just want reassurance before I click the ORDER BOOK button and buy the iPhoto book I have created.
I have imported PDF pages of text into the book, as I was able to get more control over the text layout that way. However, when I proof a PDF-text page, it looks more blurry and pixellated than standard, typed-on-the-page text, as if the resolution is not quite so high. It is perfectly legible, just a shade less sharp.
Is this likely to be a resolution matter with my printer, or will the text be marginally more blurry in the printed book's PDF pages, too? If blurry is the answer, is there anything I can do before ordering the book to get the text looking just as sharp on the PDF pages as on the non-PDF, direct-to-page, text?
    Many thanks in advance.

In PS under Edit->Color Settings Working Spaces set Grayscale to Dot Gain 20% and set the RGB menu to sRGB IEC61966-2.1. This is for future uses.
Now open each file in PS CS2 from withing iPhoto, go to the Image->Mode menu and select RGB. Save the changes, Command+S, and that's it. The photo will then appear normally in iPhoto.
Here's how to use Photoshop from within iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
If you ever do any scanning of B/W photos always scan as color.
