Question on Data Storage drive and its related hardware

DB Version:11gR2
To set up RAC, I have 2 x86(Intel) PCs of same spec. I am going to install Solaris 5.10 (x86) on both. I don't want to use VM ware or Openfiler.
Question1.
I would like to know what storage Device i should use for a Home RAC setup?
Question2.
What extra hardware (Cards) i should be adding to both nodes to connect to this Network storage system?

You can pick up 1TB and larger external Firewire 800 drives, with 2 ports - allowing you to wire two machines to the external drive at the same time.
It is "kind of" supported by Oracle for non-production use - or used to be in the past.
Unsure whether Solaris has the required Firewire kernel driver to support this though - have only done it on Linux myself.
Question2.
What extra hardware (Cards) i should be adding to both nodes to connect to this Network storage system?Firewire PCI cards if you do not already have on-board Firewire 800 ports on these 2 systems.
PS. Had a quick look at support.oracle.com and found the following note: "+How to install a cluster using firewire to access to a shared disk on RHEL4/EL4 [ID 433889.1]+". Nothing about Solaris though. Why Solaris btw? Especially on x86? Linux is a much more commonly used o/s for RAC clusters.

I was trying to move 4000 photos to a storage drive and ended up putting them on the desktop. My computer is now frozen. I have tried to restart several times.

I was trying to move 4000 photos to a storage drive and somehow it ended up on my desk top. Now it is frozen. I have powered down a few times and still comes back up but you cannot do anything.

Try to wait it out. Moving 4000 photos to the desktop can take a long time. After awhile, if the mac responds go to edit - undo move. That may place the photos back in their original location.

Stock on posting date -storage location and batch wise

I need to developa report exactly same as MB5B but with storage location and batch wise.
We need storage location wise opening stock, total receipts, total issues and closing stock, and values for given time period.
I have gone through some history tables like MCHBH and MBEWH.
But all the history tables are having fileds for period wise but not date wise.
Any focus on this?

You have to read the coding of MB5B to see how SAP is doing it.
The stock per date is calculated, starting from a month end, adding or reducing quantities based on movements until the date in question is reached.

Split library, folder names and paths are in a mess. Need to get library all in one place on my storage drive and off my OS drive. In a fix!

Help appreciated on this one as I'm OK on my PC but far from a whizz. Done a little investigation and reading of https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5199195?start=0&tstart=0 but I just can't seem to get anywhere and end up with a very underpopulated iTunes.
To set the scene. Been using iTunes for many years and have had several PCs in this time and migrated the library over. Each time I have had a half hearted attempt at organising it all on 1 drive but it has obviously not gone to plan hence my split library and weird file/ folder paths. e.g.
for some reason my recently downloaded apps are stored in C:/users/mark/my music/itunes/mobile applications. I also have numerous itunes library files on this drive
my music is mainly stored on my storage drive B:/itunes music/music/music. On both drives I have mobile applications folders each with many apps in.
I have set my itunes media folder location to B:\iTunes Music\Music so have no idea why all my downloaded apps end up on the C:/, nor have I any idea why they appear in the library seing as the itunes media folder is set to B:/
I hope you can make heads or tails of this as I am even confusing myself as I type!
Help appreciated as every time I try and move stuff around I end up with a very depleted library and have to remember what I moved where to put it back!

So I right clicked to find the files and relink, and it did not work. The folder name disappeared.
It didn't disappear, it moved (because you told Lightroom to move it). It moved from the incorrect folder location, to the new folder location. Please look in the new folder, in whatever location it is in, not in the old folder and the old location, and you will find the photos.

Hard drive and Battery related issues.

During the start up it shows the message to run the hard drive test and also shows the message that chances of imminent failure of hard drive and my batty backup is also too low.

I transfered my itunes library to an external hard drive, and its accessible, but I can't burn a cd now. I need help!

I transfered all my music to an external hard drive, and changed the location in the preferences options in itunes. I can add music to the library, i can play music and make play lists, but I cannot burn a cd. What's happening, and what can i do to fix, or get around this problem?

So is your media folder called iTunes Music or iTunes Media? And does it have a folder called Music inside it?
Before going any further you should first attempt to use File > Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (ignore if grayed out). This will make sure that any iPod Games or Mobile Applications get placed inside the iTunes Media folder which is needed for portability.
If your iTunes Media folder is called iTunes Music, close iTunes, rename the folder as iTunes Media and start iTunes again. iTunes will automatically adjust. Close iTunes again.
On your external drive rearrange the folders that you have already copied there so that they match the layout in your active library. You should end up with a folder called X:\iTunes where X: is the external drive letter, and the media folder is X:\iTunes\iTunes Media. If the library layout was upgraded then you will need to create a Music folder inside this and move all the artist folders and Compilations into Music. You will also need to copy iPod Games and Mobile Applications from your internal drive into the new media folder. Next copy the files iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork from the internal drive into X:\iTunes. The preceding manipulations should make the internal and external copies of your library match without you having to copy all of the media over again.
Now hold shift as you start iTunes. Click choose, browse to and open X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
Finally use File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files. This will ensure that any stray files that might have been added from outside your original media folder will be copied into the new one.
You can now reclaim the space used by your library on the internal drive, however before you do so I would advise you to obtain another external drive and make use of this backup tip.

I am not able to uninstall it.It is eating all the resources and my pc is getting slower down day by day.
I tried uninstalling via Control Panel->Programs and Feature->Windows Intune End point Protection.
Its uninstalled,and after some time,it is installed automatically in my PC.
Don't know whats happening.Please Please any one guide me.My PC is not even responding some times.

Yes, removing a device will uninstall Windows Intune Center and its association with Windows Intune. Check this:

Folder with Question Mark, Clicking hard drive and unformatted status on the hard drive in DU

Hi.
We have a mac Mini 2012. Only 6 months old and has been used as a media server for the entire 6 months.
All of a sudden the mac will not work as usual.
When it starts up there is a clicking sound, almost like a clock, then a white screen with a flashing Folder and Question mark.
I have used every startup key combination possible. I've even tried to boot in target mode with my Macbook Pro to see if I can access the files on the drive but had no luck.
I can only boot from the internet download OSX. I tried to install Mountain Lion again but there was no destination to install it to. When I go into disk utilities the drive is shown as a TOSHIBA (Blah Blah blah). Macintosh HD is not shown.
The drive has no verify or repair options and is classed as unformatted.
I decided to try and erase it and reformat it but it gave me this error "unable to write to the last block of the device"
I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but I'm gonna ask anyway.

No, no backups, this was the backup for my laptop which was failing as well. I moved all my media and files across to the mini, deleted them on my laptop and had the mini work as a media server as well as a back up location for the files that were still on my laptop (mainly photography work)
I guess I'll have to take it back in store for the hard drive to be replaced as it's still under waranty.
Does apple give you the failed hard drive back? we have lots of bank statements/bills/passwords and all manner of personal data stored on it. I don't want it falling into the wrong hands.

How to create up-to-date Recovery Drive and Recovery Partition on Windows 8.1 U1.

I am running 8.1 and exploring the recovery options.
I'm periodically creating recovery images, etc. but would like to do better than that.
I'd like to know how to:
Create an updated Recovery Partition that will restore to a Recovery Image (WIM) that I choose.
Modify / Create a Recovery Drive that includes a system image
of my choice, as opposed to an image created by the manufacturer / supplier (and the extra work that that implies). If I can create an up to date partition and mark it as such, then I'm clearly done. Should I not be able to sensibly
make my own partition, how do I create this on a USB recovery drive? (The built in interface has a Boolean option, use hard drive recovery partition OR use nothing. This would be solved if it
also had an option to use current recovery image. I'm happy to write simple code to make this happen if that's what it takes.)
Put another way. I can make a recovery image at will, how do I create a recovery partition and recovery drive to match?
I'm no expert on the ins and outs of Windows 8.1 recovery, if this is already covered elsewhere, I'd appreciate a link.

I have documented an unsupported process for creating an automated recovery for use in a task sequence
here. However, if I read your post correctly you are suggesting being able to do this from USB media. The method for creating the recovery partition is simple. It is simply a partition containing a folder called RecoveryImage with your install.wim
inside. Reagentc is the tool that will actually tell Windows where that recovery is. While I don't personally have a use for what your suggesting, I may give it a shot just to see if it can be done. I suspect it will work.

Can we start a relatively elementary thread about the quality level of a saved .jpg file and its relation to camera resolution settings, if any?

My daughter has thousands of photos shot with a maximum resolution setting on her camera, each one occupying an approximately 4 MB file and apparently capable of generating a quality 32x48 print -- clearly a case of overkill. I think she's doing it because she thinks it will maximize print quality. I know it's exhausting our disk space.
In PSE9, I've taken a sample .jpg file (4 MB) and saved it as three .jpg files: at maximum quality (5.2 MB), 50% quality (934 KB), and minimum quality (359 KB). Note that the minimum quality file represents a 90% reduction in disk space! Then for each of these four sizes, I printed it on letter-size plain paper, and again on 4x6 photo paper. They looked identical to me. I asked her to compare them (she did not know which photos had which quality) and with her calibrated eyeballs she thought that the minimum quality was a bit more "pixellated".
I successfully experimented with the editor's "Process Multiple Files" to resize the photos and I am pleased with its performance on my iMac -- less than seven minutes to convert 197 photos. As a further test, I ran 5 photos four times: low-quality and high quality, each at 300 dpi and 600 dpi. Again I saw no apparent difference between 300 dpi low and high quality on letter-size plain paper, but I was taken aback to see the 600 dpi print as approx. 4x6 in the center of the letter-size paper. I took another look at the four of them in the PSE workplace, and sure enough, the 300 dpi files showed up approximately letter-sized and the 600 dpi files showed up as approximately 4x6.
Obviously I'm dealing with apples and oranges here, and this is why I'd like to see some elementary-level conversation on this subject.

Thanks for the hints, Lundberg. Google led to ImageJ. Rather difficult to understand what it does, but fun to play around with. Further reading led me to this statement:

And since jpeg is based on the DCT I thought: simply compressing an image at jpeg and looking at the file size will probably give info re the sharpness of the image. At maximum jpeg setting, there was a significant reduction in file size for a particular image when I applied a Gaussian Blur. So all I have to do is work out how to relate the jpeg file size to the minimum acceptable resolution.
