Question on Divx-compatibility

hi
i'm planning to buy an iPhone 4 but i have a question:
i'm aware of the various video formats the iPhone 4 is compatible with.
but as regards Divx-compatibility has anyone actually tried this OPlayer app for the iPhone? does it actually work? the reason why i'm insisting on this is because i have lots of AVI (and some MKV) videos that i would love to transfer and watch on my iPhone. anything on this...?
do you guys recommend Oplayer? or is there another way around as regards watching AVI or MKV files?
thanks.

You cannot transfer DivX video from iTunes to iPhone.
For streaming, use Orb which is much more versatile in my opinion.
Streaming on 3G is not in good quality.
For transfering DivX to iPhone, you should convert them.
On Mac, QuickTime, with appropriates codecs, convert any video to iPhone size and format.
On Windows they are a bunch of converter, I suggest this one http://www.movies2iphone.com/. It's a backend of ffmepg.
I suggest to convert DivX to a desktop format and let iTunes do the job with iPhone format, so you can remove your DivX versions, and keep movies with highest quality.
If you have got no iPhone before, video are awesome on device !
Battery allows me at least 5 hours of show, and screen is wonderful

  • Questions on applications compatibility

I am thinking of buying an apple computer and currently have windows xp. If I install Iworks and email a document from iworks to someone and they have windows will they be able to open it? Also I have a smart phone with windows mobile on it, can I still sync with apple?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
This forum is dedicated to the productivity application, AppleWorks. It is not a "catch-all" for how Apple computers work. There are dedicated forums for the iWork applications in the iWork '09 category.
That being said, the iWork '09 applications have added the option of e-mailing your documents in Word/Excel/PowerPoint/PDF, etc. in the Share menu (the options depend on the applications). You can also export your documents as these various file types.
If you live near an Apple Store, you could "play" with iWork on one of the computers in the store.
For syncing with a Windows Mobile phone, I suggest posting a question in the Windows Compatibility forum.

  • Question on Platform Compatibility

    Hey all -
I've been having very perplexing errors in my Production environment:
    APP SERVER-
    Sun 420R 450Mhz, 4G RAM
Solaris 2.7 (Patched to Weblogic Spec)
    Weblogic 6.0 SP2 (NO hotfixes)
    Oracle 8.1.6 Client
    Weblogic jDrivers
    DB SERVER-
    Sun Enterprise 6500
    Solaris 8
    Oracle 8i (8.1.7)

The wlserver is "freezing" and queueing requests. Sometimes it will
queue as many as 900 (!) requests and then rip through them all. Other
times she never comes back to me and finally freezes and becomes
unresponsive. The log is filled with:

It will then ramble on about how it can not open the socket, toss

Here is the meat of the question - I found this compatibility

  • Question about camera compatability

    Hi,
I bought a DVD Panasonic VDR-D200 camcorder only to find that it doesn't work well with iMovie 6 because it doesn't use Firewire, only USB. I've been hearing the term miniDV in the discussion forums and now I'm confused...how many typs of camcorders are there and what type is supportd by iMovie 6? Is miniDV a tape camcorder, I'm assuming? Any specific models that would work well with iMovie would be greatly appreciated. Please only give advicec if you're sure you know what you're talking about...this will be the second camera I'm returning for compatability issues amounting to $160 in re-shelving fees! What an idiot I am! Thanks for your time and help...By the way, I use a Powerbook G4 if that makes a difference.

miniDV is a specific kind of tape format, have a look at any camera store or do some wiki… I estimate, 70% of consumer camcorders do use this format.
    (pic by wikipedia)
any camcorder with miniDV plus firewire (Sony calls it iLink) should work with iM.... (and socalled Digital8 too, but that is an older standard... actual cameras are miniDV); I did own a Canon, now for years using a simple but excellent SonyTRV14…
no, iApps don't support DVDcorders, mpeg4, flashmem, harddrive, solid state, whatsoever cameras...
Please only give advicec if you're sure you know what you're talking about..
me sure? ... mostly ... failed often, but still self-confident...

  • Questions about firmware & compatibility

    What's goin on guys,
    I have a iBook Blueberry 300 MHz PowerPC G3; 288 MB Memory; 3.1.2f4 bootRom; and i'm running Mac OS X 10.3.9.
My first question is: Do I really even need to upgrade my firmware? I've read through about 25 pages of the forum so far, and I've seen it suggested more than a few times.
My second question: I have tried relentlessly to watch streaming video on this Mac. It simply will not work. I downloaded the latest FlashPlayer, updated my Java settings, checked my internet connection speed, and it simply will not work. I'm beginning to think that 300 MHz just isn't a fast enough processor to handle streaming media. Is this true? Are there any updates (besides hardware upgrades) that I can try?

    Yes, this is correct.
Unfortunately, almost all G3 machines studder with streaming video. Especially the older ones -- even the 466 Mhz iBook studders a good bit with video. The reason for this is that the processor can't keep up and process the information. That's the main reason I found when I was researching the topic!
It's really not because of the graphics card, which many believe is the reason.
Keep on enjoying your clamshell, Miles

  • Question about parts compatibility G5-Mac Pro

Hello! Thanks to anyone that has some insight for my question
I have a loaded G5 powermac and am wanting to make the switch to Mac Pro for some time now. I have 4gigs of RAM and 2 400gb HDD's in my G5. Would I be able to use any of that in the Powermac? Or is it all incompatible now?
    Thanks for any responses...

So the RAM will work as well? The drives are SATA.
Well a few reasons for upgrading are that my apple care will soon expire, about 6 months left and I cant renew it ( I wish I could). So if something does finally break down on me, I would be throwing money at it to fix. Plus I would love to run Parallels and BootCamp and just get into the next generation of mac computing. With leopard coming out and all things advancing...i already feel left behind! haha...the marketing demons have me.
This powermac is by no means obsolete and more than fulfills my needs. Settling for a macbook pro would be awesome...but looking at some of the refurb mac pro's I was thinking I could super fuel it with my current G5 parts.
    Thanks for your replies, gurus!

  • Question about camcorder compatibility

I was just wondering if the sony HDD HD camcorders worked with imovie as that I can import the videos and stuff.

You need to check the Apple compatibility list to see if the HDD cam you want is on that list. If it is, you can import into iMovie 08 only. If it isn't, forget it.
If you wish to use the superior "older" iMovie, iMovie HD6, no HDD cam will work. For that you need to consider a HDV miniDV tape cam.

  • K1 questions - arabic software compatibility, game compatibility, status of ICS update?

1 ironiclly k1 have arabic systems in menues . And not comptile with arabic softwre market. Office apps -words are not comected
2 decie specs is no difference than xoom . And games are incpotiale unless i root and change to xoom!
3 i dont want to root since ICS is soon .. As MEEP in lenovo News about third world region wil get the update.

    I believe usnsws means:
    1. Why does the K1 have an Arabic language setting, yet it is not compatible with Arabic language apps? (I think this is a complaint about the rendering of Arabic fonts in some apps)
    2. The specs are similar to the Motorola Xoom, but some games can't be played unless the device is rooted and the build.prop is edited so apps think the K1 is a Xoom.
    3. When will ICS be available?
And my thoughts on these questions:
    1. I believe Arabic rendering was fixed properly in Android ICS - this would explain why it's not perfect on the K1, but will hopefully be fixed with the ICS update.
    2. I'd tentatively suggest that if a game doesn't work until build.prop is edited to change the device name, it's probably the fault of the game. Can anyone confirm this is true? (could be the case with Gameloft games?)
    3. Keep an eye on the K1 ICS thread.

  • Adobe Creative Suite Question [Photoshop File Compatibility]

I have recently received a ten year old macbook with the OS snow leopard, according to the apple store associate using CS3 or CS4 would run better on this particular macbook. would I be able to open a file created in CS3 or CS4 on a computer that runs CS6? Would I be able to open a file made in CS6 in the CS3 or CS4?

That all depends on what you mean by "a file"
Industry standard DATA files such as JPG pictures are independent of program version
Proprietary PROJECT files such as a Premiere Pro video project file are very much dependent on program version
Also, program specific data files such as an InDesign file are dependent on program version, since newer programs often have features not supported in older versions
So... just what do you mean by a file?

  • Question about CD compatibility

I used "TESCO" CD-R and I was wondering if TOSHIBA recommends these brand of CD's or not?

I suppose you want to know if you drive can handle and support the medium. Am I right?
In my user manual I have found a list of compatible CDs and DVD which are recommended by Toshiba.
I think you will also find the same list in your user manual. Please check it.
Ps: I use a TDK CDs and DVDs. These mediums are not listed in the manual but Im very satisfied with these CDs and DVDs. I can burn and read it without any problems but you know, everything depends on the drive.

  • Question on backward compatibility

    Hi all,
I have a BPEL process that uses activation agent and Oracle Apps Adapter and it is running on Oracle SOA suite 10.1.3.4.
I need to know the minimum version of the server it could be run on.
Is there any way to determine this other than deploying it in every possible server ;) ?
    Thanks
    Srini

Thank you for this posting, bob. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position where I can afford to slow down to revert to FCP602 and am just pushing my other system to the wall until a break appears to do so. I wholeheartedly agree with your closing statement regarding Apple's remarkable silence to this issue and relying on us, the users, to solve tech issues created by them.

  • Newbie Question about OS compatibility

I recently run across a claim on Adobe's website that Lightroom 5 requires a 64-bit OS.
However, the Lightroom 5 trial worked well on my 32-bit OS.
On the other hand, Lightroom 5 did not install from my CC desk top app (came as a bundle with photoshop).
I know this is very basic stuff, but I'm confused:
is there a difference between Lightroom 5 as a standalone and as part of creative cloud?
Is Lightroom 5 always 32-bit compatible, or not?

is there a difference between Lightroom 5 as a standalone and as part of creative cloud?
No. Only the licensing is different.
Is Lightroom 5 always 32-bit compatible, or not?
It's 64 bit only on Mac because all Macs are 64 bit anyway.
It's available in both 32 bit and 64 bit on PC. Depends on which operating system is installed - 32 bit Windows or 64 bit Windows.

  • Question about WRVS4400N compatibility with WMP300N

I am looking at buying me a new home network suite with a NAS, router, NIC, .... While researching the WRVS4400N, I noticed that the modulation type is OFDM for 802.11n as listed on the data sheets. But the WMP300N modulation type is BPSK, QPSK, 16-QAM, 64-QAM for 802.11n. They both support 802.11g OFDM for modulation so I know they will work together but will they work at 802.11n or is it a miss print on the data sheets.
    Thanks in adv.

Assuming you mean Type 1 fonts - (as opposed to Truetype)
If it's an OpenType font, yes.
    Otherwise, no.
They can be converted, subject to the licensing restrictions
    applicable to the particular font.
Font families (multiple styles) aren't interpreted the same way, and
    may require internal renaming.
Under Windows 9x/me/NT, Adobe Type Manager is also required for the
use of Type 1 fonts (including Type 1 flavored opentype). Windows XP
and Vista support Type 1 natively.
