Question on domain name impact on email address

All,
I am setting up a new Exchange 2013 server to replace an old GroupWise server. Forgive my ignorance but I am new to Exchange.
My AD root domain is like this "LHISD.WATER.TX.NET". The Edir is set as "WATER.TX.NET"
So with our GroupWise Server a users email is like
[email protected] Can I use the same format even though the Exchange server is in a root domain called "LHISD.WATER.TX.NET", or am I stuck with
[email protected] ?

Yes you can have them. This can be acheived using accepted domain in Exchange 2013 server as WATER.TX.NET

According to your post, my understanding is that you want to change display name of workflow email address in sharepoint 2010.
In my environment, if I assign a task to a user, the email is as below:
The “test” is the site name, the [email protected] is the “From” user.
Do you want to change the “From” field in the workflow?
If so, you can have a look at the "Send email extended" custom SPD workflow activity (http://www.codeplex.com/SPDActivities
) which allow you to specify the sender.

Domain.local proxyAddress and Email Address Policies!

I have inherited an Exchange 2007 organization.
The organization has several public domains (Different departments require different domains) with one overarching domain.
The default Email Address Policy is the only email address policy set up which has the following:

I have a few issues here:
Issue 1: Office 365 DirSync Readiness Check is complaining that I have proxyAddresses that are not publically routable (domain.local). How do I go about resolving this? Does editing a Email Address Policy cause everything to be re-evaluated? I am thinking
I could go in and remove the domain.local entry (I am assuming it is not needed?) but then would simply applying it cause issues?

Here are my answers you can refer to:
1. As far as I know, the name domain.local cannot be published externally by any CA. Then I recommend you create a accepted domain for example domain.com and a related Email Address policy.
2. We can add multiple email addresses for one mailbox and set one email address as the primary address.
3. Based on my knowledge, we can manually select the primary email address.

I had a name for my user name not an email address and now I cannot get access to my itunes account

I had a simple user name through the itunes store. It was just a name not an email address, now when I sign in it sends me to an old itunes account which does not recognize purchases that I have made over the last 5 years.
Any clue as to how I can access my old account again? I tried asking the system to send me a password with my username (which is not an email address) and have yet to see an email that was on flie with that address.

Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple, Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

If you only have alternate/secondary email addresses on your account then you won't get the reset link, an you won't be able to add a rescue email address until you can answer your questions - you will have to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.

Start here (change country if necessary) and navigate to 'Password and Security', reset your security questions using the link provided, you will receive an email to your rescue address, use the link in the email and reset your security questions.
If that doesn't help, you don't receive a reset email or you don't have a rescue address, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.

SAML-based claims authentication in SharePoint: how to show Display Name instead of email address?

The authentication works well; however, Sharepoint shows the users’ email everywhere including at the top right suite-bar. I rather to see users’ display name instead of email. Is there any way to have SharePoint shows user’s display name instead of email
address when the primary SAML claim is email address?

Newbie question - Changing domain name from .local

Hi, I'm trying to change my domain name from dns.local to dns.domain.edu. Can someone help me with this. The server was already set up and some places it has:
dns.local and other places is has dns.domain.edu. when i type in dns.domain.edu into a browser it works. when i type in dns.local i get an error.

Leave the .local alone. That is your Bonjour access name.
Bonjour is also known as ZeroConf in the Unix world, and is how your Mac discovers other Macs, Mac file servers, and Mac print servers on your local network (also know as a subnet).
You can add search domains via
System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> DNS -> Search Domains -> [+]
A search domain is where you can enter 'fred' and the name lookup will look for fred.local, fred.domain.edu assuming both .local and .domain.edu are provied as search domains.
As to other people finding your via dns.domain.edu, that is up to the domain.edu name servers, and their administrators. Your Mac does not establish that, unless they have a dynamic DNS updating service.
To have a DNS name in a domain, your DNS name must be registered with the domain server that owns that domain name. That is not automatic.
In this case if you have not already been assigned dns.domain.edu by the domain name and fixed IP address by the owners of domain.edu, then you cannot just take the name dns.domain.edu. If you have been assigned the name dns.domain.edu and a fixed IP address, then you would set that up in System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> TCP/IP
At best, if domain.edu allows the DHCP servers on campus to both assign an IP address and also create a dynamic DNS name in domain.edu, then you might get a name like
college-name-192-168-27-232-subnet-12-dorm-name.domain.edu
A very creative and memorable name
If you cannot get the domain.edu administrators to give you dns.domain.edu as an addressable name, you can go ahead and get a dynamic DNS name from a service such as No-IP.com or DynDNS.org (free ones are available), and just run one of their dynamic DNS updating utilities on your Mac so that when your DHCP IP address changes, your dynamic DNS name is updated with the new IP address as well.
A dynamic DNS name service such as the 2 I just mentioned, will give you a fixed name such as fred.dynamicDNSnameService.net that will not change, and when you run an updating utility on your Mac, the dynamic DNS service will keep the fred.dynamicDNSnameService.net updated with the every changing DHCP assigned IP address.

Name beside my email address wont change

When i try to send an email from a different computer the name beside my email address shows my dads name. I went to appleid or something like that and changed the name to my name. But when i try to send an email it still shows his name. How can i change this or just remove his name from showing up.

Go to www.icloud.com, open contacts, mark your card, click on the little icon in the lower left corner, and choose "Make This My Card".

Handle name is my email address when I post?

I've created 2 accounts and with both accounts it appears my handle name is my name but when I edit the profile it shows my email address as my handle?
I've never posted or replied before and noticed today when I tried that when I do a preview my email address shows as the handle even when I have my profile set to not show my name or my email address?
I've read the FAQ's and help but don't see what I'm doing wrong.

IÂ´ve got the same problem and was wondering, why no one has it too.
I donÂ´t want my username to be my email adress. My profil shows my name as the handle, so itÂ´s curios that the email adress appears when previewing the post.
But itÂ´s also curios that in the Forum Settings my email adress is my handle. I have not expected differences between those.
So I am interested what appears when posting.
