Question On How to Install Teradata ODBC on CF9 64-bit?

Need to install Teradata drivers on 2 different servers:  A Windows 7 64-bit, and a Windows Server 2008 R2, both running IIS 7.5 and CF 9.0.1 64-bit.  Am fairly sure this needs to be set up as an ODBC Socket in CF Admin.  I've downloaded both the 32 and 64-bit Teradata drivers from Teradata web site (version 13, latest ones).   But have not installed or done anything yet.
First, is it correct with CF9 64-bit, in CF Admin, that the ODBC Socket drop-down will only display 64-bit drivers?  Thus only allowing ODBC connections using 64-bit drivers?   For example, I've been unable to get a 32-bit IBM DB2/UDB ODBC driver to appear in the drop-down.  However, the same 64-bit DB2 driver shows up in the drop-down, but when I test the connection in CF Admin, I get a "type mismatch" error message.  Have not been able to resolve.  Am hoping I don't experience the same issue with Teradata.
On a development Windows 7 server at work, I successfully installed the 32-bit Teradata drivers, but on a Windows 7 32-bit server, and CF9.0.1 32-bit.  After installing and configuring the Teradata 32-bit driver in Control Panel/ODBC Data Sources, the driver DID show up in ODBC Socket drop-down, and tested fine.
But not sure what to do on 64-bit servers, and 64-bit CF9?   If anyone has been able to successfully install and configure a Teradata ODBC-Socket connection on either Win 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, 64-bit, using CF9 64-bit and IIS, would greatly appreciate any help/advice on what you did to create a successful connection in CF Admin.  Thank you,
Gary

No luck.  After installing Teradata 64-bit ODBC drivers, and successfully configuring them in Windows 7 64-bit, <Control Panel, ODBC Data Sources>, and IIS 7.5, I got the same architechture mis-match when trying to add them as an ODBC-Socket DSN.
After running into same problem with IBM's UDB/DB2 64-bit drivers, and after reading additional posts, I've come to the conclustion that CF9 64-bit does not support 64-bit drivers in an ODBC-Socket connection.  And if you install/configure 32-bit drivers, they won't appear in CF9's drop-down list of available ODBC-Socket connections.  It appears to only display 64-bit drivers, including the built-in ones (which I believe are mostly JDBC drivers).  If anyone disagrees, please advise.
Yet, on a test server with 32-bit Windows 7 and 32-bit CF9, and 32-bit DB2 and Teradata drivers, everything works fine.  Don't understand why this doesn't work on 64-bit platforms.
At work, we are upgrading our production servers from Win2K 32-bit to Win Server 2008 R2 64-bit.  And upgrading our testing servers at our desks to Win7 64-bit.  And switching the main database from Oracle and SQL Server to Teradata.  (We do have about 4 Oracle DSNs, and 1 SQL Server DSN, and they all work fine using native Oracle/SQL Server drivers that come with CF9 64-bit).  If I can't get the DB2 and Teradata (particularly the Teradata drivers) to work on this new Win Server 2008 R2 64-bit production server, we won't be able to run any of our ColdFusion programs.
Here are some options I've come up with, and would appreciate advice/recommendations from anyone who may have some experience with this:
OPTIONS:
1.  Un-install CF9 64-bit and and install CF9 32-bit on both Win Server 2008 R2 64-bit and Win 7 64-bit.  Not sure if either of these 64-bit OS will run a 32-bit CF9 installation normally, without problems or errors.  If this is the best way, will all existing Oracle and SQL Server DSNs need to be re-configured, and will those work properly?
2. Run CF9 64-bit in 32-bit mode.  Can this be done?  If so, where do you find out how to do this?  And how does this impact current DSNs using Oracle and SQL Server, that are already configured and running normally?
3. Leave all "as is" and install Teradata JDBC Drivers.  They are available from their web site.  If this is best solution:
   A. Do you need to un-install the Teradata 64-bit ODBC drivers, or is it OK to just leave them there?
   B.  I've never installed 64-bit JDBC drivers.  After install, how are these added as a CF DSN? Do they just show up on the main DSN driver drop-down list in CF Admin?  Or do you have to use OTHER?    I've looked at doing a CF "OTHER" configuration, and it asks some questions I don't have the answers to off-hand, and our Teradata DBAs aren't familiar with ColdFusion, so no help there.  So am hoping Teradata will just "show up" as an available driver when adding new DSNs in CF Admin. And I won't need to use OTHER.  Anyone know?
Appreciate any help/advice.  I cannot ask my company to purchase additional licenses of CF9, until I know:
1.  Whether I can get, and how I can get, a Win Server 2008 R2 64-bit server to use CF9 to connect to our Teradata Data Warehouse.
2.  Which version of CF9 to purchase and install on these 64-bit servers (32 or 64 bit)
Really appreciate any help/advice.  Thank you.

I've installed windows 7 with the help of bootcamp on my macbook pro 2011.
Please help me how to install mac drivers for windows7 64 bit???

You either download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant and save to USB FAT disk, or you insert and use 10.6.x OS X DVD when in Windows and install and run the SETUP from there.

Step 4: Install the Boot Camp Drivers for Windows
After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for Windows using your Mac OS X installation disc.  The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, including AirPort,built-in iSight camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and thefunction keys on an Apple keyboard.
The Mac OS X disc also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows and theApple Boot Camp system tray item.
To install the Boot Camp drivers:
1 Eject the Windows installation disc.
2 Insert the Mac OS X disc.  If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
    3 Follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.
If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you mustrespond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.
Important: Do not click the Cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.
4 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware  Wizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).
5 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.
6 Check for updated Boot Camp drivers by using Apple Software Update or going to www.apple.com/support/bootcamp.
If You Have Problems Installing the Device Drivers
If it appears that the Boot Camp drivers weren’t successfully installed, try repairing them.
    To repair Boot Camp drivers:
1 Start up your computer in Windows.
2 Insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
3 If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
4 Click Repair and follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
If you need to reinstall specific drivers, you can install one driver at a time. For example,if your built-in iSight camera isn’t working, you can reinstall just the iSight driver.
Individual drivers are in the Drivers folder on the Mac OS X installation disc.

  • How to install itune under Windows XP 64-bit professional with SP2?

I have iPhone 3GS for over a year and I have set it up at my work computer (Windows XP professional) with latest iTune and it work great. Recently our IT has upgraded our system and all of our new machines has Windows XP 64-bit OS.
I can't figure out how to install iTune under Windows XP 64-bit, to synch with my e-mail, contact and calendars any more?
    Can any one help?

New machines? With XP 64-bit? Your IT department is being rather foolish, in my opinion, deploying new installations of XP 64 since Microsoft discontinued mainstream support for it (more than two years ago) and it's never really been satisfactory.
Anyway, there is no version of iTunes that supports the 64-bit version of Windows XP and almost certainly never will be. If you search the iTunes for Windows forums for "XP 64" you'll find threads describing the process some people have used to "crowbar" iTunes onto XP 64, with varying levels of success, none of them complete. Connecting to iPhones is one of the most problematic issues.

  • How to install 11g ODBC client drivers to access OBIEE 11g server?

I have a user running Microsoft Excel on Wondows XP that wants to use ODBC to access an OBIEE 11g server running on Linux. The OBIEE 11g installation documentation indicates that a full install of OBIEE is required to install OBI client tools (including ODBC drivers). OBIEE version 10 had a separate client installation kit that made it very easy to install ODBC drivers. Does 11g have a client only installation kit like version 10? OR do I really have to perform a full OBIEE install on each client machine just to get the ODBC driver installed?
Any recommendations on how to install the OBIEE 11g ODBC driver, that DOES NOT require a full OBIEE installation, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Richard Brooks

Does 11g have a client only installation kit like version 10? No
do I really have to perform a full OBIEE install on each client machine just to get the ODBC driver installed?Yes

  • How to install Oracle ODBC driver...?

    TOM,
Presently, I have oracle client version. But there no Oracle ODBC driver in my PC. But, I want to install only Oracle ODBC driver in my PC for ODBC Connectivity purpose.
How to install & where can get the source?

I found out the real answer!!!
On another thread there was a link to the client 10g installation. I download that 480Meg monster. Unzipped the package and launced the setup.exe.
You can then install just the ODBC using the custom option. But, it will not install the tnsnames.ora file. If you have ever done this from a VB app, copy the tsnnames.ora over to the \network\admin folder. It's usually under the oracle\product\client\10.0.2\ folder. Once installed you can launch the ODBC administer either from the link Oracle installs or from the control panel.
Next, you need to make sure the folders where the .dll file is readable to the iis. Change the folder to add whatever permission group you use for iis (I happen to have setup a local users group {machinename\users}. Add them to the entire folder structure (check the embedded folders to ensure they are readable).
While setting up the ODBC, the TSN names will now be listed from the tsnnames.ora file (if properly located). To make the connection work, the userid should be 'userid;pwd=password'. Otherwise the connection failed for me.
Now, if your connection works okay from the odbc test connection, it will probably fail if accessing through iis (like from a .asp page). There are environment path variables that need to be set. Reboot the server for them to get set. Otherwise you will get a ODBC driver can not be loaded do to system error 1114 message.

  • How to install Solman 7.0 on win32 bit platform?

As Installation Master do not have option to install Solman 7.0 for win32 bit.
Please tell me how can I install Solman 7.0 on win32 bit?
    thanks
    Giang

You have to use the SR2 version - which is no more available as download but only as physical media you have to order.
I HIGHLY recommend installing on 64bit, you may not be able to run all scenarios on a 32bit platform.

  • How to install oracle database in window7-64 bit corei3 processor?

    Hi All,
please help me in installing oracle database on window7 64 bit machine with corei3 processor.
i have tried to install oracle 10g but not able to install. Is any higher version of oracle will work with same configuration?

You may have better luck with 11.2.0.1, from:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
10.2.0.5 is the earliest version certified for Windows 7. Note that no Home edition of Windows 7 is supported, you should use Professional and up.

  • How to install Oracle-ODBC-Driver in WAS 6.40

    Hello,
I'm new in Netweaver/WAS. I developed a Webservice, which uses JDBC to access a oracle-Database. I use the JDBC-Driver in classes111.zip. So classes111.zip has to be in the classpath.
For Tomcat there exists a lib-Folder, where I cant copy the driver, so that every deployed Application/Webservice etc. can use it.
Is there such a Folder in WAS, or how can I deploy the Driver to WAS?
    Thank you,
    Chris

    Hi,
this thread should answer your question:
Where must I add the classe12.zip from Oracle in WebAS

Thanks a lotDoes the machine that you are trying to configure have the Oracle client software installed?
When installing the Oracle client software, the ODBC driver is NOT installed by default. I do a standard run-time installation, then go back and run the installer a second time, this time selecting 'custom install' - select to install in the existing ORACLE_HOME (by default it will prompt for a new one), the select to install the Windows components.

  • Buying/Subscribing Question - where/how product installed...

I have MS Office Pro 2013 installed. It was acquired via my company's HUP (Home Upgrade Purchase) at a real good price. However, that appears to be a curse rather than the opposite.
Specifically, after installation of the HUP version, it failed to remove the old 2010 pro version I owned (and paid for myself I might add). In fact, it left all the tell-tale signs that 2010 remained on the system, and I eventually had to hid 2010 auto-updates
simply because they never did anything anyway.
Yet, the 2013 never got updated with current releases, and I've had it over a year now. So, the result: I want to get fully supported, but I am confused about which version is better.
I've read all the comparisons, but given my unique approach here (HUP license remains installed and operational), I need to know a few things.
If I purchase a subscription to Office 365 Home Premium, will the product be installed on my local system? I have no use for something that has to load from the web, I simply
don't have the band width to support a web based product load every time I launch it - and I do so a lot.
When it is installed, will it automatically find and get rid of my old 2010 and 2013 license versions along with the software (that's great if it will) so it will do a clean install of the 365 version?
I need all the products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access, OneNote, etc.) not just the "common" ones. Will the single subscription product ($7/mo) provide all that?
Although Skype is included, it's just icing on the cake, I usually scrape off the icing, and it'll not be used since the band width I have doesn't allow it's use (I'm at the max allowable speed now at 6MB Download/1.5MB upload).
So, any buying advise in direction, pitfalls or other guidance is greatly appreciated.

    Okay, here's the low-down...
I attempted to run the Office Update feature from Excel. In this way, it may clear up the error code that was flashed when I followed the other steps.
The approach defined here was EXCELENT, as I never realized the manual update was available or where it was located - my bad on that - it was in sight after all... :(
However, when I attempted to run the manual update of the product, it threw an error. So, I followed the steps outlined in MS's other resolution page, and attempted to use the Change > Quick Repair then the full repair option. Both failed miserably. The
first option didn't do anything but throw an error (didn't record it) so I tried the next option - Full Repair.
Boy, was that a mistake. It began by invalidating my activation of the product. From that point forward, I had to scramble to find the original order and the product key. Eventually it was found though, and I was able to re-key the product key.
It originally asked me for my Activation email address, which I didn't know until I found it on my work computer. Since it was a HUP acquisition, I had to go all the way back to find the original order confirmation email. By the way, it was originally licensed
    on 1/24/2013.
After entering the product id all over again, it came back fully activated. I then proceeded to attempt an update.
What did I find - that I have the "current" version. This I figured. What it never told me or attempted to perform, were any security updates or other general updates to Microsoft Office Plus 2013. I know there have been at least a few updates to 2013 since
1/24/2013. Yet, it says there are none.
Apparently, most everything is now run from the web links (which is 365 anyway and is fine), but it seems that updates are not taking place. No entry exists in my update history, except for 2010 - which is long gone - even though it keeps trying to do updates
and failing (so I did a 'hide' on those updates).
I'm really at a loss as to why all this stuff is happening, and why 2013 isn't getting updates. - OR - maybe it is. I just know the version numbers never change; and nothing pops up on the auto-updates which are received on a monthly basis.
Like I said though, the response above was right on target. It at least helped me to get my configuration back on track (or so it seems), and I even recovered my id and original email to boot... :)
    Thanks!
