Question on how to move files in iTune Liabrary

All my file types--music, podcasts, and audiobook--are located in Music folder in the Library. I wish to move podcast files to Podcast folder and audiobook files to Audiobook folder.
After trying the intuitive Windows' methods like drag & drop, I searched both online documentations and preexisting discussions on the subject, but no avail.
Does anyone know how I can move files (Podcasts and Audiobook) from Music folder to other folders in my Library ?

Although I can not completely claim to understand your question, I think that you are concerned with how to put together two or more songs of the same Artists' group when each songs are loaded at different times. If that is your concern, I might have a suggestion.
You can group two or more songs, added at different times, with various groupings. The varying groupings are by Artist, Album, Genre, etc. Since if you knew how to do it with one, then you can do other ways as well; let's pick Genre for my suggestion purposes.
First, you need to select two songs that you wish to group together. You can select both of them by highlighting the first one, then the second one by clicking the second one while holding "Ctrl" button. You should see both songs highlighted.
After both songs are highlighted, you want to edit information of both songs at the same time. To do so, you first need to get the Form called Multiple Item Information. You can get this form by first moving your cursor over one of the two highlighted songs, then "Right" click. You might get a dialogue box, which is to verify whether you really want to modify information on multiple items. When you get such dialogue box, click on "YES." After that, you should see the Form I mentioned--Multiple Item Information.
In this Form, you might see some or most of the fields already filled. If not, you might want to manually type in whatever you wish. For our purpose of grouping them together, you need to modify two fields--Boxes named "Compilation and Gapless Album." For each of those boxes, you will want to select "Yes" from its drop-down menu. Each drop-down menu is located at the right corner of each Box. You will also want to fill in the check boxes, located on the left them, by clicking in them.
After sequentially following all those steps above, you can now click on the "O.K." button of the Multiple Item Information Form. If you followed those steps successfully, you should see both songs grouped together.
Any further help or clarification needed, reply back with your specific concerns to which I can try my responses.

  • Converting MOV file to iTunes file

On my MacBook Pro, I have been converting MOV files to iTunes files. Suddenly, however, this won't work. I get the following message: Can’t make file "Macintosh HD:private:var:folders:Al:AlJFXwbEEgqKI3EA0xH26
TI:-Tmp- How can I fix this?

With the MOV file on my desktop, I click it open, then click on the icon that is a square with an arrow coming out of it.  This gives me the option to convert the file so it can be viewable on iTunes, Mobile me gallery, or Youtube. If I chose iTunes, previous MOV files I have converted this way appear to have been converted to m4v files for iPhone or iPod.
Now when I click on the iTunes option, I get the "Can't make file" message.

    USB syncing
    Open iTunes.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable and select it in iTunes under Devices on the left-hand side:
Some tabs may not appear if you do not have corresponding content in your library. For example, if you do not have any podcasts in your library, the corresponding Podcast tab will not appear.
Click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen, to sync.
    Wi-Fi syncing
    Open iTunes
To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable. Select your device under Devices on the left-hand side.
In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi".
Whenever the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when all of the following are true:
The iOS device is plugged in to power
iTunes is open on the computer
The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network
While the iOS device appears in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.
If the iOS device does not appear in the Devices section or you are unable to sync, please see this article for troubleshooting.

  • How do i file fraudulent itunes charges on my debit card?

How do i file fraudulent itunes charges on my debit card? I contacted my bank, who told me to contact itunes. When trying to do so, I'm told that i have to pay $29.00 for them to help me resolve this issue.  Also, I have an album that has "appeared" on all 3 apple iphones that are in my family. In which, none of us purchased it

If the album is U2's Songs of Innocence then that was given free to everyone back in September - if you don't want it on your account : http://itunes.com/soi-remove
For the iTunes charges, then if they are on your iTunes account (and nobody else has access to your account or devices and made the purchase), then you can contact iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
If it's not on your iTunes account then your card issuer should deal with it.

  • Can't upload .mov files to iTunes anymore

Hi!  I don't know if this just started when I upgraded to Lion and did all of the recent updates to iTunes, and added iCloud, etc, but suddenly I can't drag .mov files into iTunes like I used to be able to do. I can't add them with the Add To Library menu either. Because of this I can't put them on my iPad. Is anyone else having this problem?  Is there a fix?  TIA!

Actually, I can't open anything in quicktime anymore. I've tried opening avis, mov, mp4 and m4a files... all give the same error message and number. I've reinstalled both qt and itunes but no luck.

  • EXS24 instrument created from audio region- How to  move files?

In Logic Pro X. I have created an EXS24 instrument from an audio region with 3 well-separated sounds. The instrument in EXS24 editor shows a zone with 3 files. Each file is actually the same physical file, but, when examining the three separate "files" (what should I call them??), a different section is highlighted for each tone. I can set a note for each of these "files". This instrument plays perfectly.
So now I have 2 files in my project folder  - a .exs one for the instrument, and ONE SINGLE .wav file somehow representing three different samples. I want to move them to ~Library/Application Support/Logic/folderName, where folderName is , say,  myInstruments (for .exs) and mySamples (for .wav). When I do this, and erase the files in the project folder, I can load the instrument and the sample file into EXS24, but the sample file is recognized as one single tone - that is, in the EXS24 editor, there is only one file rather than 3, and that file has all three audio sounds.
How do I move these files correctly? Is there some way to get them created originally in the correct place?

    Hi keystrike,
This article will give you information about how to move files in Logic -

  • How to move files between folders within Lightroom 3?

I would like to move a file from one folder to another within Lightroom 3 (let's not discuss why). I searched the threads but couldn't find the answer (maybe I missed it). When I click on a photo within grid view then drag and drop that file onto a different folder in the folder panel (to do the move), a little plus sign (copy) appears and a copy of the file is placed in the second folder. If I try to delete the photo from the original folder (to get the move), both copies of the file are removed. I've tried holding down all sorts of keys on the imac but cannot get the move to work. Ideally, I'd like to move a group of photos but cannot even move one. Does anyone know how to move files between folders in Lightroom 3?

Your suggestion works. Thank you for posting it.

Try selecting the photos, right-clicking the target folder and choosing
"Move Selected Photos to This Folder".

  • How to move files not copy

how to move files from mac to an external hard drive. Copy leaves the files on the mac hard dive. I am trying to free up space on the mac hard drive.

Whenever you migrate data to an external drive, the files will copy. Once the copy is done, simply delete the files from your internal drive.

  • How to move files after installing new hard drive

I am considering the installation of a new 80 or 100 GB hard drive. I purchased the new iLife 06 program but I do not have enough space to install on my present 60 GB unit. I only have 3 GB available. I've read all the posts involving the possible brands, downloaded the instructions how to swap out the units. My question is how to backup and install my files and applications so I may reinstall onto the new drive. Can I just copy my hard drive volume onto my external Lacie storage unit and then drag the volume back to the new hard drive after booting off my OS disk? Any advice on how to move my apps and files? Do I need to purchase cloning software?

The easiest way is buy an external firewire enclosure and put your new drive in it. Then format your new drive. then use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy your internal drive onto your new drive. Then install your new drive and put your old one in the enclosure. You are now in business with an external backup on your old drive.

  • Transfer AVI movie file to Itunes to upload to Ipod Touch

    Hi
Just got Ipod touch and have some movies/tv shows on desktop that I want to put to my ipod. Tried the Save file to library on itunes but nothing happens. Does anyone know how I can put these AVI files to my ipod touch.
Simple instructions appreciated, first ipod so still learning the ropes.
    Ta Urs

You need to find Windows software to convert .avi to .mp4 or .mov, then import that file into iTunes, then sync it.

  • Problem sharing .mov files to iTunes...

I'm making another attempt to solve a problem that's been vexing me for some time.  I have video files I've downloaded from the internet (legal content I have paid to download) that I can watch on my iMac using iTunes.  I bought an Apple TV (one of the first generation ones that has an internal hard drive), but only some of my video files will sync to it.
I've tried addressing the problem using the option in iTunes to create an Apple TV version of the file, but that failed (I got a message that said "Error occurred while converting the file "Filename". An unknown error occurred (-54).").  I get that message immediately.
I have Flip4Mac and Final Cut Studio (the version before the current version).  Since I couldn't fix the problem using iTunes, I thought I'd open the file with Quicktime and see if I could do something to convert it to something that iTunes could sync to my Apple TV.  So, I opened the file in Quicktime and tried to Share it to iTunes.  When I did that, there were three options:  iPhone & iPod, Apple TV, and Computer.  I could only select the iPhone & iPod option (the others were grayed out and not selectable).  so I clicked the Share button with the "iPhone & iPod" option selected.  An export progress window pops up, and it appears that the who export process is completed, but, at the end, it tells me "Can’t make file "Macintosh HD:private:var:folders:Ue:Ueqla9MhGcSWPlZdlCEsOE+++TI:-Tmp-:Filename (iPhone & iPod).m4v" into type alias."
This is all probably some basic aspect of how the video files I'm dealing with are created.  I'm hoping someone here can tell me, in fairly basic terms, what's going on here, and if there is anything I can do about it.
Here's some information about the file that might be relevant:  It's a QuickTime movie file (.mov), 135 MB, Codecs: AAC, Sorenson Video 3, Hint, 18 minutes, 2 audio channels, total bit rate: 961, Encoding software:  Sorenson Squeeze 5.0.
I'm a novice when it comes to video editing.  I really can't understand why in the world I have files that play in iTunes on my computer, but won't play on my Apple TV.  Is it a limitation of compatibility, or is it something that is done purposefully to the files?  How can I fix it?

Okay, I opened it with MPEG Streamclip and tried to export it in the Apple TV format three times, and every time I immediately got a message that Streamclip had closed unexpectedly.  It started to create the .m4v file, but only got about 8 KB into it, so it almost instantly failed.
I then used streamclip to export it to the .mp4 format, and that worked, which is very strange.  I would swear that I have tried that before and it didn't work.  Maybe I only tried to convert it to Apple TV format in the past.
You've helped me resolve an important issue, and I appreciate that.  Do you have any idea why the other options didn't work?
I'm going to set about converting some other files from different sources and see if it continues to work.  I'll post again then.  If everything goes well, I'll mark this thread answered.
    Thank you for your help.
Note:  I should mention that these files are older.  They were created before the iPad was avaiable, and maybe before the iPhone and Apple TV (or at least early in the life of those devices).  They look like they may have even been filmed on video tape and converted to digital (they are not widescreen or HD).  I don't know if that matters or not, but thought I would mention it.

  • Transfer .mov files to iTunes?

Hi!  I was hoping someone could help me out.  I have some movies I created a while back with iDVD.  The finished file is a .mov file and I would like to now put this in iTunes so I can sync it with my iPhone and iPad to watch the movies I created.  I can't seem to figure out how to get those files into iTunes so I can sync them with my devices and play them on my mobile devices.   Anyone have any ideas or figured this out?

    Do you mean iMovie?
iDVD takes video (including .mov) and converts it to Video_TS format on a playable DVD.
If you have a .mov, then File > Add to library in iTunes.
Or if it is in iMovie, menu Sharing > Send to iTunes.

  • Combining .mov Files for iTunes

    Hello
I have a training CD (not DVD) that has 20+ .mov files that want to import into iTunes as one video media file.  I tried importing them individually and of course I wound up with 20+ individual media files which is undesireable.  How can I combine this for import into iTunes?
    Thanks

You'll probably have to use a video editing tool such as mpegstreamclip or Quicktime Pro.
