Question on hyperlinks

Hi All,
I'm working on a report which is like a dash board, it is a summary report which has many columns eg: coffee, chocolate etc. These summary columns i.e chocolate coffee etc have scorecards which is the detail of the summary. the requirement is when we generate the mail summary report the columns need to be hyperlinked so that when we generate the PDF of this report on clicking the column the corresponding summary or scorecard PDF should displayed (based on some logic)
The question i have here is when i hyperlink it is there a way to close the report from where the hyperlink was activated. as in currently the screen is cluttered with amny PDFs as the user can press the hyperlink as many times as they wish.
wanted to know if 1)we can have just one PDF opened for a hyperlink (irrespective of how many times it is clicked)
2) a way to close all the other PDFs once the hyperlink is clicked.
Please let me know how to go about doing this.
Thanks
Shilpi

One of the 3rd-party Report Managers listed at http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html provides a solution for this.
It allows you to use Crystal formulas to control the generation of hyperlinks in the exported pdf.  One of the options for pdf hyperlinks is:
New Window Option:
1: opens target pdf file in a new Window
0: opens target in current window

  • One other question about hyperlinks

I nearly forgot to ask this.
Is it possible to hyperlink from one part of a page to another, within the same page. For example, if i talk about a style of music that I write, and lower down the page there are some examples, is it possible to write click HEREto listen, and be taken lower down the page?
I know it can be done in HTML, but i cant see a way in iweb.
    Anyone?

    Hi,
This is called anchors. But it is pretty hard to do. Varkgirl has a tutorial here:

Cyclosaurus has a different method here:

  • Hi All! Found this community and have a question about Hyperlinking docs

I have eDocs DM 5.3.1 and some of my users are getting broken hyperlinks in pleading indices being created in the Records department.
We noticed that if we purge the DM cache, shut down the DM process and then restart windows explorer, it fixes the hyperlink.
Anyone have a clue or two I could investigate to find a fix?

  • Hyperlink in obiee email reports

    Hi,
Well I have a question on hyperlink in obiee dashboards.
The requirement is to email obiee Report or dashboard with Hyperlink

    date.
End user will not access obiee analytics at all. They will access only their emails.

  • Is it possible to create a hyperlink in a WebI chart?

    Hi,
I am trying to create a grouped bar chart in WebI (BO XI 3.1) in which clicking on a column should open a different WebI report, passing the selected values as parameters to the report. I have tried to create a hyperlink on the x-axis dimension object, but even when the "read content as hyperlink" option is checked, the axis labels still show the "<a href=http .... " text instead of the hyperlink interpretation and the hyperlink does not work.
When the same link is applied to a table, it works fine.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sander

    Hi Praven,
Thanks for your reply. However, the problem is not in creating a hyperlink in a cell. As I mentioned in the initial question, the hyperlink works perfectly when part of a table. It will show the other report with the dimension objects filtered as you would expect.
    The table holds three columns:
    - Shoporder
    - Operation
    - Count
I have set the hyperlink on the operation dimension and when a row is clicked, the target report is opened for that operation and that shoporder.
The problem is that this hyperlink functionality seems not available (or not working correctly) in a chart.
    Thanks,
    Sander

  • Action (navigation) when click on Hyperlink field in ALV web dynpro

    Hi - I had a question about Hyperlink in ALV web dynpro and it was answered in  Link: [web dynpro abap ALV link to (hyperlink);
Now I need to click the Hyperlink field and navigate to another screen.
i.e. I have a Object ID (PR Number) when I click the PR number I need to open the PR Document also another case is at the item level if the PR has more than one item I'm showing the word "MULTIPLE" so if the user click on Multiple I need to show all the items (material) in another ALV table that I already create.
    Thanks for your help!
    Jason P-V

    Hi,
As per my understanding, there are PR number and Material and other columns in the SAME ALV table right.
There is a ONCLICK event for ALV not for the VIEWCONTAINTERELEMENT.
In the View where you have the ALV as component usage under view's properties, you have ALV usage right.
Now, under the METHODS tab of the ALV, implement an event
Onclick   EventHandler  ONCLICK(press F4) of that ALV.
Now the Click event is implemented for that ALV. When ever you click on any column(Hyperlink) this gets called.
Here there are parameters that you need to use it. R_PARAM has both the index and the element.
Based on the COLUMN you can call the respective event.
The index that you have clicked i shown from r_param->index and you can also know ATTRIBUTE name(column name).
    If attribute eq 'PRNUMBER'
    *call the Purchase requistion transaction
    elseif attribute eq 'MATNR'.
*call the popup for other ALV as component usage to display item details.
    endif.

  • How to Create a "FAQ" page where the top of page has all the Hyperlinks

    Hi,
On iWeb, how do I Create a "FAQ" page where the top of page has all the Questions as Hyperlinks.
The hyperlinks would not actually link to a separate page, but would automatically scroll the page to the spot where the question is answered.
    An good example is below:
    http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=102 &Itemid=2
    Thanks for your help!

    Sarah,
As is pointed out what you would like to do is old fashioned Anchors, real easy on a conventional site but not so easy in iWeb.
I made an FAQ by just making questions followed by answers and increasing font size and using bold to make the questions stand out so it is easy to use.
Much more work for you but will approximate what you are trying to achieve is this: On the FAQ page make your list of questions each of which you will make into a hyperlink to go to another page. For every question add a blank page to write the answer on. Uncheck the relevant box so that that page does not appear in the navigation bar. Write your answer on that page then under it make a hyperlink back to the FAQ page. The page would also by default have the normal navigation menu at the top, but adding a "Close Window" or "Back To FAQ" link that is actually just a hyperlink to the FAQ page is helpful for site visitors.
While a lot of work to make the extra pages it should work well and solve your problem.
The simplicity of iWeb soon provides problems as soon as you want to do more than the basics offered.

  • Is Flash the solution for my problem?

    Hello All:
This is a question about hyperlinks in Flash, but it is not a "how to" question, because I know that hyperlinks can be created in Flash.  More, my question is whether Flash is the right tool for what I'm interested in doing.
Basically, I'm a video producer and clients occasionally ask me whether I can insert hyperlinks into their videos.  My answer has always been: "Sorry, no deal.  Final Cut Pro does not have that capability."
So my question is this: am I making things way too difficult by seeking out Flash as a solution to this?  Apple has a software called Keynote that is supposed to be able to add hyperlinks, but it may be a bit of a clumsy to use and it seems that it sometimes delivers rather uneven results.  That's at least what I was understanding from what I read on the Apple forums.  And, on those same forums, several people suggested others like me to use Flash for creating hyperlinks in video... i.e. we produce our videos, we import to Flash, we had text hyperlinks, we export out to Quicktime.
Would you say that Flash is probably too expensive and sophisticated a tool for something fairly straightforward like this, keeping in mind that I don't know a darn thing about how to use Flash?  What I'd really like is an intuitive piece of software that would make the process easy.  If Flash is not the answer, do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks, Geoff

Thanks for the response.  From what I heard on the Apple forums, it was pretty clear that creating hyperlinks within the video was something that Flash could definitely do.
I guess I'm curious to hear whether it's easy since I know nothing about Flash!  If ithere's going to be a major learning curve, I might not bother and continue to tell my clients I can't help them.
BTW: If I wanted to import my video and create the hyperlinks, is it possible to export the video as a quicktime file and still keep the hyperlinks?  That's another important piece of this.

  • Keynote and hyperlink (webpage) question, please help

Hi, I know how to insert a hyperlink in a Keynote slide and have it open a web link on a Safari window. However, when I use the presenter's view from my MBA connected to an external projector, the Safari window won't display on the external projector unless I switch to "mirror display" mode. The problem is: once I am done with the webpage and want to return to presenter view mode, I am unable to do it instantaneously. I click on the green arrow on the Keynote icon, but I now see my presentation on my MBA screen mirrored and not in presenter mode. I remember when I had the PB 12" I was able to toggle the option for mirroring and separate screen by using F7, but that option doesn't seem available on the MBA. Do I need to change the Keynote preference? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This doesn't really answer your question and I hope somebody comes up with a more efficient solution. However, this is what I do to overcome your problem. The second display (on the external projector) is to the right of the main presenter display. Before the presentation I move the Safari window on my laptop to the right, off the screen. If you have the projector on you will see the window and mouse appear.
This is also how you get the mouse to control a movie being projected. Move the mouse to the right off the presenter display on to the projected display and on to the movie so that the controls appear.
I think you can change whether the projected display is on the right or left in the Displays preferences.

  • Questions: Hyperlink and Rollover

    Dear all,
I use InDesign CS6 and i'm going to create a Interactive PDF file.
    I have two questions:
    1) I want to create some create buttons in all the pages of my document. I've created 3 small object on the Master page (one button for the "previous page one button for the "home" and one for the "next page")
Now, if I try to exoport the document in an Interactive PDF i have an error massage that says "got to page" is not supportated" The only button that works is the button with the hyperlink to the home.
Could someone of you explain me why??
    2) I would like to realyze a Rollover from a photo to a text. The idea ist that wehn I go with the mouse to the photo i can see a taxt. How can i do that?
    Thanks a lot!!
    LordD.

Go to Page only works with SWF export or Adobe Digital Publishing. You need to make a Hyperlink destination of the page you want to go to and use the Go to Destination action.

  • Hit counter, hyperlink appearance, fetch questions

Hi. New to Mac/Iweb. Hope you don't mind a compound question -
I rebuilt my site recently using Iweb (www.joshbass.com), and for the most part, like it very much. However, there are a couple things I'm lost on. My settings tell me that on my hyperlinks, they're supposed to be white when "normal", and turn red on rollover. However, I have three browsers right now, IE, Firefox, and Safari, and only in Firefox do they behave correctly. In the other two browsers they simply stay white when rolled over.
Secondly, I wanted to put a hit counter in (I believe there's no other way to measure traffic with this program, right?), but I'm NOT using .mac. So I found a random free counter, pasted the code into a web widget, and in Iweb it looked fine. Once published, not so much. Doesn't show up at all. Tried all the browsers, no difference.
Third, I was wondering if there's a simple way to tie Fetch (for FTP) to Iweb, so that as I update the site in Iweb, I can publish only the changes, instead of FTPing the entire site's contents. There are indeed directions in the Iweb help files, but I'm afraid of doing something dumb and publishing garbage.
    Thanks.

    hi derek,
    1) the hit counter is a .mac only feature! you need to get an alternative counter such as statcounter:
    http://karreth.com/iweb/How%20To%20Add%20A%20StatCounter.html
    2)yes - check these instructions
    http://www.rowan-cottage.co.uk/Site/Autoplay_Music.html
3)no sure what you mean with "automatically"
4)my favorite is cyberduck. i also ahve some instructions for it:

  • Possible to add a hyperlink on a T/F question slide?

    Greetings,
I'm delivering a Captivate 5.0 course in Adobe Connect Pro which is recording completion on the last slide through a True/False question slide (a one-question "Quiz").
However, I want to add a hyperlink to the Correct Caption that appears after the user submits the answer. (I'd also like the Captivate course to close upon clicking the hyperlink, but I'll settle for just the hyperlink actually going somewhere.)
I see that the hotspot, button, & slidelet tools are disabled on this question slide.
I've looked for widgets or some way to run javascript, but I haven't found anything.
What am I missing? How can I add a hyperlink to a question slide?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cheryl

    Hi Cheryl
Normally adding a Hyperlink is simple. You insert a Click Box and link it to the URL. But as you likely have discovered, you cannot insert a Click Box on a Question slide.
So what options do you have?
Well, you could visit Lilybiri's blog and learn how to build your own Question slide using basic tools and Advanced actions in Captivate. At that point the slide is just like any other and you may then insert the Click Box object and link to the URL.
Or you could create a single slide Captivate project that is sized really small and contains nothing but a Click Box that carries out the action of linking to the URL. Then publish that as a SWF. You would then be able to insert the SWF into the Question slide. I'm not sure how well that will actually work in action, but I've done it before without issue. Like anything, your own mileage will probably vary.
    Cheers... Rick
