Question on Landscape?

Hi Friends
Is XI required if CCM on diff server and SUS with ROS on diff server.
Regards
Simha

Hi
XI definitely required if SUS and ROS on different or even if in same server. For ROS you do not need XI for SUS yes!!!!
I am not sure about CCM though.

  • E-recruimtment: Question about landscape standalone with use of MSS view

    Hi ,
Has anyone already done an implementation of E-recruitment with the use of MSS view ?
Or have you reliable information about the combination landscape - manager view ?
For security reasons the choice for the landscape standalone is the best.
But in documentation of SAP we have read that the Manager view isn't possible in a standalone landscape:
ERP installation (Recruiting as integral part of the ERP solution)
    - Required for MSS Manager Role integration and ESS integration
    Kind Regards

    Hello Pascale,
perhaps we mixed up some things according to the manager involvment. There are 2 different solutions.
There is the "internal" e-recruiting solution for manager involvement. This is delivered in 2 separate roles requester and decision maker but usually joined to one manager or hiring department view / startpage.
There is an bsp application for requesting requisitions. The manager can create them, fill in the data he knows and then he sends it to his hr clerk respondible for his requests who adds all stuff missing, checks if it's ok with budget / headcount and then publishes it in the jobborads. In Addition there is an application which provides the mangager with a list of candidates he has to check and fill a questionaire for e.g. to decide if he wants the candate for an interview.
Both applications are parts of the e-recruiting delivery. They have nothing to do with the MSS. They are accessed via a startpage for the amnager and run on the e-recruiting server.
On the other hand there is nearly the same functionality delivered as part of the MSS. The result is nearly the same just the user interface differs. The requisition request is not done in an bsp application but an Adobe Interactive Form (which requires an ADS Server). The intention of this is to rebuild you old paper requisition request in an interactive form and map the data to the e-recruiting requisition. So you train your managers to use a web version of the old form instad of using e-recruiting. Of course if you already use other mss functions everything will be in the same fancy frontend and you do not need to log in twice if you have no SSO. As far as I heard the ADS license alone costs 50k and then youhave the rollout cost and licence cost for the MSS. You have to decide if it is worth it.
The candidate list for questionairs to fill is also available in the MSS scenario.
The MSS solution requires e-recruiting 600 and an hr core system on ECC6.0 (ERP2005) with the newest enhancement package. The MSS is installed and processed on the hr core server no matter if you use an integrated or a standalone installation for e-recruiting.

  • E-recruimtment: Question about landscape standalone with several HR Systems

    Hi,
We are going to start with the implementation of E-recruitment , normally version 6.0.
The aim is to install 1 e-recruitment system as a standalone system who shall communicate with several HR systems of several companies (subsidiary company in different coountries Luxembourg, France, Belgium) and probably those HR systems (backend) runs on different versions.
So the aim is that every company shall search for its own candidates in the e-recruitment system and shall do its own hirings.
Up till now it isn't clear for us how this works ?
Thus anybody have already experience of such a landsccape who is willing to share his information ?
Wat are the benefits, the disadvantages, the difficulties, are there things we have to think about , ...
    Kind Regards
    Pascale

    Hello Rachael,
you cannot split the so called pool of talents. every applicant has the option to release his profile in the system. if he does so, he agrees to be assigned / checked to any other requisition (=position) you open in your e-recruiting system. When you open a new requisition you can check if you already have suitable candidates in the system to get in contact with instead of finding new ones (you can just put him on the requisition). In the more strategic overall talent management topic one goal is to have a pool filled with critical applicant groups (engineers, sales people, researchers. ... - the short and strategic necessary applicant groups according to your business) to hire fast (and cheap).
This pool is accessable to every recruiter in standard. There is no restriction that if an applicant applied for company A a recruiter from company B cannot take him and get in contact with him.
For the requisition handling. Requisitions are always restricted to its recruiting team. If you create a requisition you assing the people who have to work with it (and the roles they have for the process). Recruiters can only access the requisitions they belong to. So this should not be a problem. By maintaining the company and branch for a requisition you can always find out which requisition belongs to which company and react on this in correspondences for example.
Managers are not really assigned to requisitions. Their task is restricted to request requisitions (of course in this case they become a member of the recruiting team). The candidate handling works by questionairs. The manager gets a list of requisitions and assigned candidates he is supposed to evaluate. The evaluation is done via filling the questionaire. He has no direct access to all candidates in the system.
The 2 ECC systems for one E-Recruiting standalone system are possible - unfortunately with some restrictions.
There are 2 ways of communication. The HR system has to deliver all employees and if you want to integrate OM all org.units, positions and jobs to the e-recruiting system. The employees get internal candidates for internal recruitment and even if you do not plan do use this every recruiter, manager needs a candidate to work with the system. The standard way for this is ALE. If you have a consolidated HR system infrastructure with non overlapping employee IDs and organizational unit IDs you can easily transfere data from both system into the e-recruiting system. If the number ranges overlap you will need special adaptions for mapping Ids for global identification. This might get a very chalanging task exp. if you include OM.
The other way is transfering hirings to the HR systems. This is more tricky. If you really plan to use this function (note that due to the restrictions in the function not all implementations use it anyways) you will need some custome developments. How much effort is needed for that would need more info on the systems and the requirements. I think in the best scenario I could imaging it would take me 5 days but as usual the sky is the limit if it's more complex.

  • Which scenarios restrict backend instance(s) to connect to one SolMan?

We have a landscape design that would include Dev and Prod SolMan systems, each with an SLD feeding the respective SolMan.
The Prod SLD would also get a bridge connection from the DEV SLD so that all the systems in the entire landscape will be visible to the Prod SolMan.  This will aid in CHaRM, CTS+, Diagnostics, etc.  But for scenarios like service desk, the back end systems also require a connection TO the SolMan.
My question is - which scenarios specifically require the back end systems have a defined SolMan RFC?  I know a lot of the scenarios have SolMan making the outbound call to the back end, in which case we can test scenarios in both Dev and Prod SolMan more flexibly.

    Hi David,
I am not sure if I have got your question right - landscape related discussions are better understood with diagrams, and I can understand the limitations of posing such questions in Text format
Implementation and Upgrade is a scenario which requires defined SolMan RFC and within that, it could be READ, BACK, TRUSTED categories. You need TRUSTED connection if you plan to use 'Customising Distribution' functionality.
More details are available in the [Security Guide |https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700007187872005E/Secu_Guide_SM_70_SP16.pdf]from SAP.

  • SLD Landscape Design Question

After reading the Planning Guide - System Landscape Directory, I am left with a question.
    The Setup:
    Standard three system landscape
    ECC 6.0 Ehp5 on NW 7.02ECC Instances: DE1, QE1, PE1
    PI 7.31
    PI Instances: DP1, QP1, PP1
    PI Business Systems: DE1CLNT100, QE1CLNT100, PE1CLNT100
Each PI Instance has a local SLD
Management LandscapeSolution Manager 7.1 on NW 7.02
    SolMan Instance: SP1
    Local SLD
    LMDB
Reading through the Planning Guide, the recommendation (pg. 45, picture below) seems to be to have all systems self-report to PP1. That is, without synchronization, only PP1 knows about any systems because they all report to PP1 and do not report in to their local SLDs. The data is then sent back to DP1 & QP1 via bridge forwarding. Business Systems are manually entered into their respective local SLDs, but then have to be manually exported/imported from DP1 --> QP1 --> PP1. Once it's all gathered into PP1 again, all data is pushed to SolMan's SLD on SP1 via a unidirectional content synchronization.
If I read this correctly, then all SLD's will end up "knowing" all systems and business systems: e.g. the sld of DP1 will have entries for QP1 and PP1 and for business systems QE1CLNT100 and PECLNT100.
Earlier in the guide, I gathered that there was value in not having all of the data in Development in that there is then clear separation between non-production SLDs and production SLDs. The above recommended setup seems to go against this idea of separation. Plus, it requires a significant amount of manual upkeep.
As an alternative (pictured below), what if each environment only reported to it's local SLD (DE1 --> DP1, QE1--> QP1, PE1--PP1). (Note that in the picture the SLD is drawn separate, but I've heard that most customers run their local SLD on PI, so the SLD depicted in each environment actually runs on the PI system in this scenario.) Further, what if the SLD's then synchronized sequentially in a full unidirectional content sync fashion. (DP1 does a full uni-directional Content Sync to QP1, QP1 does a full uni-directional Content Sync to PP1, and PP1 does a full uni-directional Content Sync to SP1.)
DP1 would only know about it's own systems. QP1 would know about it's own plus DP1 (which it needs). PP1 and SP1 would both have full visibility into all systems.  Furthermore, the manually entered business systems would also be automatically synchronized and the whold manual export/import process could be avoided or  a manual export/import could be implemented between Q and Production for safety with an automatic bridge forward of Data Supplier data.
Are there downsides to the second scenario that I am not seeing? Please comment!
    Best regards,
      --Tom

Although the guide states that Dev systems only needs to know about other systems in the DEV environment and QAS systems only needs to know about systems in the DEV and QAS environments and only PRD needs to know all systems, I am finding that I can't get the groups set up correctly when the DEV environment has no visibility to the QAS environment.
It seems that the recommended structure (where all systems are known in all environments) will facilitate the correct setup of the PI transports. So far, that is the biggest arguement I've been able to find against the second approach outlined above. Using full sync all the way through is also not an option if you're doing any development as any changes in the DEV system automatically flow through to PRD almost instantly. Using automatic bridge forwarding and import/export might be a usable alternative, but the recommended approach from page 41 of the planning guide does seem to have the best of all worlds.

  • BW Landscape Question - DEV and QAS in same Environment

    Hi,
I do have a doubt about the following Landscape of my client:
ECC - PRD CLNT 100 --> BW Prod
ECC- DEV CLNT 400 --> BW Dev
    ECC- DEV CLNT 100
    Basically
ECC- DEV CLNT 400 has MasterData but NO customizing !!
ECC- DEV CLNT 100 has NO MasterData but Cusomtizing !
First I pointed the Source System to DEV CLNT 100 but as has no MData that though was no point on having such connection.
So created the landscape as above described.
The only draw back I can see is that every time I activate some BI_CONT in BWD it replicates it in DEV CLNT 400 for which the client is not open for customization so get the message "no authorization for..."
So the procedure is to activate the Datasources (in ECC) on CLNT 100 where is open for Custo and is automatically visible on CLNT 400.
Think the landscape described above is a proper one or can see any pitfall ?
    thank you,
    AM

    Hi Alex
Regarding your question, there is no right or wrong approach, but one has to understand the purpose of the multiple clients on a system, plan accordingly and depending on the business requirements this drives the landscape.
On a development system, you can have multiple clients for various purposes and have the BW system linked to the relevant client:
    - Customizing
    - Testing (prefered BW Development connection to an ERP Development system)
    - Play
In response to your question, it is a good approach to following and the only pitfall would be someone trying to do transactions in the customizing client and the BW system not been able to extract the data for testing purposes.
Currently I have my BW Development system pointing a ERP Development system which contains 3 clients:
    - 1 Client (i.e. 200) for Customizing (customizing only, no transaction data).
    - 1 Client (i.e. 220) for Play (copy from the ERP production system which contains master and transaction data).
    - 1 Client (i.e. 230) for Testing (copy from the ERP production system which contains master and transaction data).
For the testing and play clients, we can also refresh the data if required, generally we try to do this ever 3 months or when there is a large project to be done, i.e. fiscal year change).
Of these 3 clients, my BW Development system only points to the ERP System's Testing client (client 230) so that the we can test extractions on master and transaction data. All developments done in the ERP Development system for BW is done in the customizing client (client 200), since most of the development work is client independent regarding the extractors, so it would then be automatically in the testing client. We have been using this approach for the last 5 years, with no major issues.
PS: The only issue you may have is regarding the extractors that use classification (transaction CTBW) as there is a client specific issue refer to OSS Note: 588184.

  • Help about ESS/MSS - Deploy error and landscape question

    Hi.
I read a lot of post about this topic, but I continue something confuse about them.
I want to configure ESS and MSS.
    My landscape is:
    -  J2EE 7.0 with Portal 7.0 (2004s) in a server “A”.
    - ECC 5.0 ( with HR component SP05) in a server “B”.
Server “B”, has only stack Abap.
Server “A” is the latest version of Netweaver today. (stack j2ee and stack abap, BI, XI, Portal, etc)
I download and deploy in server A (J2EE 7.0), this components:
    - BP ESS for erp2004
    - BP MSS for erp2004
When I deploy the ESS BP, the deployment break raising this kind of error with the most of components, for example:
    <i><b>

Obviously, for this reason the most of iviews raise errors. A few of these works ok.
I assign role, and others configuration steps, this part I thinks that is OK
I configured the Jco, the role in Portal, the profile in ERP for ESS, etc.
    My principal question is:
Can I use Portal 7.0 against ECC 5.0 in order tu use ESS/MSS based on webdynpro, without stack j2ee in ECC server (“B”) ?
Is necesary install J2ee stack in my server B ? or not?
Where I need to deploy the XSS 500 components ? in the J2EE 7.0 ?
Why when I deploy have this problem and the most of components can’t deploy it?
For my landscape, which is the recommended setup ?
    thanks in advance.!

  • Portal Landscape - With 2 CSM (load balance) related question

    Hi,
We are currently having a portal landscape (Dev, QA -2 app servers, PRD - 4 app servers). The load balancing happens on Production Portal using CSM (load balancer) and it does SSL offloading for security encryption and it lands onto one of the application servers. When we try to login to portal it authenticates using the LDAP (OID). And we have some links which takes to backend R/3, BW etc (we use SAP load balance using SMLG logon group)
Now due to another special project the following is what we are planning:
    1. Adding couple of more application servers for production portal or having seperate second portal landscape itself
    2. Adding couple of more application servers for R/3 production server (load balance can be done with special logon group for that)
    Questions are:
    1. When we land into current production portal page and click a iview link for the special project it should go only to those special portal app servers (planning to do through another CSM) and from their to backend R/3. In this scenario how the authentication (or sso ticket) happens when it goes from CSM to another CSM, will it ask for login again or any issue will happen with SSO ticket ?
    2. If we decide to go for second portal landscape and in the same scenario when login to current prod portal page and click a iview link for the special project it should go to that another production portal,in that case what will happen to the login authentication happened through the first portal and SSO ticket ?
    3. Suppose if we go to the second production portal directly through a website and if the user tries to login using the same id to first portal how portal will deal in terms of security (SSO) and also how backend R/3 will behave when same id comes as part of SSO.
Or if anyone thinks of any other issue apart from SSO or encryption related things which i need to be aware of, kindly let me know.
    Thanks,
    Murali.

I am not sure what CSM is, but I would expect it only does ssl offloading and a sort of "reverse proxy" against the cluster.
    >1. When we land into current production portal page and click a iview link for the special project it should go only to those special portal app servers (planning to do through another CSM) and from their to backend R/3. In this >scenario how the authentication (or sso ticket) happens when it goes from CSM to another CSM, will it ask for login again or any issue will happen with SSO ticket ?
This depends on the host name you use for the two CSM clusters. If they have the same subdomain, there should be no problem as the SAP Logon Ticket (MYSAPSSO2) cookie is issued to the sub domain of the portal.
If they do not have the same subdomain, the second CSM cluster will receive the request without the MYSAPSSO2 cookie, and will therefore trigger reauthentication.
    >2. If we decide to go for second portal landscape and in the same scenario when login to current prod portal page and click a iview link for the special project it should go to that another production portal,in that case what will >happen to the login authentication happened through the first portal and SSO ticket ?
It will fail, as the MYSAPSSO2 cookie from the first portal is not recognized in the second. However, you can easily setup so that the second portal trusts the first and does a logon based on its credentials
    >3. Suppose if we go to the second production portal directly through a website and if the user tries to login using the same id to first portal how portal will deal in terms of security (SSO) and also how backend R/3 will behave >when same id comes as part of SSO.
I assume both portal will be setup against the same LDAP/UME source. Therefore it will allow the logon. The backend systems should trust both the first and second portal (STRUSTSSO2 transaction)
I think your architecture choice comes down to if the new project has special considerations with regards to versioning of portal. If it does, it would be sensible to separate it into a separate portal (and you can always integrate them with the first portal through portal federation if you have a relatively new version).

  • EREC: Question concerning system landscape

    Hi all,
I'm looking for someone who has excperience with a systemlandscape like this:
    development-system: one frontend-system and one backend-system
    quality-system: one frontend-system and one backend-system
    produktive-system: one frontend-system and one backend-system
    training-system: only one system (backend=frontend)
The customer has no transport connection between the frontend- and backend-systems. There are transport connections between the frontend systems and the backend systems.
The question is: which transport requests go into the training-system? Do we have a problem, when the frontend- and backend-transports go into the training-system?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards
    Chris

    Hello Chris,
first of all I am a bit confused why there is no connection between the frontend and the backend systems. The best practice approach for implementing an e-recruiting project with frontend / backend separation is to do all customizing and development on the dev backend server and then transport to the dev frontend system to ensure th systems are in sync. Parallel customizing and development in frontend and backend is not adviced.
In general the training system should have the same system architecture as all other eRec systems in the landscape. This way even if there are customer developments which have been done in a way that only supports your project landscape instead of supporting all possible eRec landscapes (integrated / standalone, frontend / backend separation, ... ) they will work properly on training. Furthermore the system setup will be the same.
Of course it could work if you use a training system without frontend / backend separation if this has been thoroughly planned during the project. If you can ensure that all developments have been done in a way that they support this landscape this should work. Special in your case, if you have really implemented in parallel on frontend and backend you must have applied and tracked sufficient naming conventions to prevent any conflict in development objects when they are combined on one system. (As the effort to implement the required processes and tools to ensure the compliance to such development standards is usually exceeding the costs for a small separated training frontend server having the training landscape aligned to the other systems landscape is the bst solution).
    Kind Regards
    Roman

  • Question to BW landscape

    Hi, Expert
we are implementing BW project at the beginning of the project. Now we decide one server for two clients namly client 400 and 500. Client 400 is for configuration environment, in this client the consultant can only do configuration and don't allowed to load any application data. The client 500 is for both configuration testing and develpoment environment. This client allow to enter testing data, don't allowed to configuration changing; its configuration comes from client 400.
And another one server is for BW pro.
    Question:
    1) In this case, should we create Defining Client Administration, Defining a Logical System, Assigning Logical System to Client and Creating an RFC User for both client 400 and 500?
    2) Now when we use RSA1, system display message 'You can only use it in client 400. So, is this case how could we use this client? Could anyone explain about this kind of BW landscape setting for both client 400 and 500 and give more detailed information.
    Thanks!
Edited by: hi ni on Apr 14, 2008 7:44 AM

    Hi NI,
In BW you can use only one active client....In R/3 we can use more than one client.
if you want use client 500 you cannot use client 400.
if you want, you can switchover to client 500
You can find the details in Table : 'RSADMINA'
    find the field value "BWMANDT"
    Hope thyis will help you.
    Regards,
    Vijay.

  • BOE/BW landscape question

HAd a question about managing/configuring BOE in a BW environment.
We are planning to have many non-production systems in our BW landscape. (Dev, Dev+1, Product test, Performance Test, Training..etc).
If we are also including BOE in our environment (Webi, Infoview, etc), do we need a corresponding BOE environment for each BW environment?
We currenrly make all BW changes in our develpment environment and transport thru the landscape to all other environments. Wondering how that works for BO objects , what systems need to be set up, and what is best practice for this and managing changes through the landscape.
Seems that a separate BOE environment for every non-prod BW implies additional cost (hardware and licensing) and we are trying to determine the best scenario.
But also want to maitain the control of versions and changes through the landscape and ability to test them as they progress through.
    Thanks.

My recommendation is to have a 1-1 setup.
There are two kinds of connections between BO and SAP.
    1) Authentication connections
    2) Data connections.
Authentication connections allow your SAP users to use the credentials to log into the BO system. You can indeed create more than one authentication connections within a BOBJ system.
Data connections retrieve data from SAP sources into your BOBJ reports. A single report/dashboard (WebI,CR,XCelsius) can connect to several SAP data sources at once. But you cannot dynamically change the name of the system you are connecting to. At least not by applying generic BOBJ functionality.
SAP Business Objects offers the LifeCycle Manager to help you manage the life cycle of your projects in a multi-leveled environment.
Assuming you are using a single BOBJ installation for multiple SAP systems you have to make sure that the security is well defined in order to separate your development from your production environment. You will probably have to work with separate
folders to host your different environments. In this case you will not be able to use all capabilities of the LCM (like mapping of data connections).
