Question on merging office 2003 PPTs in Acrobat 9
I follow these steps to Merge office 2003 PPT files and combine the files in Acrobat 9.5.2 to create a combined PDF file with bookmarks. But only slides get printed please help me out.
Setting the PPT file printing options
When you use Adobe Professional to print both the notes section and slides to a PDF file, you have to first change a setting in the PowerPoint file:
In PowerPoint, select Tools -> Options -> Print tab -> then select the "Use the following print settings" radio button and select "Notes pages."
Note: If you want to print only slides and not the notes section, select “Slides.”
The ability to generate bookmarks for the PDF file needs to be set in the source application. In PowerPoint, you should have a menu item named "Adobe PDF." Select Adobe PDF -> Change Conversion Settings -> Settings tab, and then select "Add bookmarks to Adobe PDF".
Converting multiple files to PDF with bookmarks
Change the printing option on each PPT file. See Setting the PPT file printing options.
Open Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
Click on the Combine icon and select Merge Files into Single PDF.
Note: If this icon is not visible it is on the Tasks toolbar.
You will now see a window where you can add the individual PDF files.
After adding the individual files, you can rearrange the files as needed.
When ready, click the Combine Files button and wait for the file to be generated.
Save the file in the location and using the filename as needed.
Open the new file and review the bookmarks.
The bookmarks are inserted during the Combining process. The section names are the filenames and may need edits.
In the PDF preferences, there should be a check box for converting notes (I am using AA9). If this is selected, then when using PDF Maker, the notes are added to a layer in the PDF. To view the notes, select the little bubble icon in AA9.

I am not sure what to do about the following 3 third-party plugins. It appears that the Windows Presentation Foundation plugin "has a major security vulnerability that can be exploited by malicious websites as described in the Firefox Article "How to enable and disable Windows Presentation Foundation." It seems that the easiest way to deal with this plugin is to disable it via the add-ons manager. My question do the other two plugins pose security risks - should I disable them. I have tried to find additional information on all three plugins and cannot seem to ascertain whether they need to be updated or if, in fact, there are updates for these plugins. I am not sure if they are even compatible with Firefox, perhaps they been added to the Mozilla Add-ons block list. At any rate, any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
The three plugins in question are:
Microsoft Office 2003 Unkown ? Research Office plugin for Netscape Navigator plugin
Windows Presentation Foundation Unknown ? Research
(WPF) plugin for Mozilla Browsers plugin
Google Update Unknown ? Research
Google Update
Thank you in advance.
GAMKRTWCAhello, i have those plugins on my computer too but have always kept them disabled because i'm not exactly sure what functionality they offer - i have never encountered any site that would depend on them or would cause problems without them, so you can likely just disable them without any harm...

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 causes MS Office 2003 to freeze & mouse to malfunction - HELP!
After installing Acrobat 9.0 Professional on a 64-bit Windows Vista computer running Microsoft Office 2003 the following issues arose (note these issues were solved be uninstalling Acrobat). Does anyone have a fix?
1. Microsoft Internet Explorer stopped working - program would not launch.
2. Mouse click disabled - pointer worked but both click buttons disabled.
3. The following dialogue box opens in word when closing Word - Acrobat was not in use at the time, but it was installed on the machine:
"Do you want to save the changes to PDFMCustom?"
The Microsoft Office Program "Word 2003" would freeze at this point.
We need to run Acrobat on this machine - and unfortunately, we need Explorer and Office too, so any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.I can suggest to try this one:
Found that the file, PDFMOutlook.dll, is the culprit for many of your longstanding woes with the toolbar. A common way to eliminate the toolbar is to unregister the dll. This can be done by going to Start > Run and typing the following:
regsvr32 /u “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\PDFMaker\Mail\Outlook\PDFMOutlook.dll”
While this indeed does get rid of the toolbar, it’s not a recommended method as it basically just keeps the file from being loaded when you start Outlook. To return the PDFMaker on the toolbar I’ll recommend that you re-register the dll file. To re-register the file, simply go to Start > Run and type the following:
regsvr32 “C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\PDFMaker\Mail\Outlook\PDFMOutlook.dll” -
My end-user is receiving an error when attempting to create a PDF using the Acrobat 7.0 plug-in within Office 2003 running on Windows XP SP2. (note: Distiller 7.0 works without problems.) The error message received is: "The Acrobat PDFMaker Server could not be loaded. Do you want to run the installer in repair mode?" Choosing Yes to repair or No to not repair has not made any difference. The same error message is repeated each time an attempt is made. Suggestions?
If you are having problems creating a PDF, there are two steps you should do FIRST
Go to the appropriate vendor web site and apply all updates to the program you are using (several recent messages have concerned problems with MS Office conversion, with the response that different versions of Office have different BUGS that must be fixed by a download from Microsoft - and MS Office products are not the only ones which may, from time to time, need to be updated to work properly)
Go to the Acrobat update page and apply the updates for your version of Acrobat
IN NUMBER ORDER (updates are not cumulative so, using version 8 as an example, you must apply 8.1.0 before the 8.1.1 update)
I don't know the current update version (I use 8x) but I'm pretty sure that Acrobat 7.0 has been updated several times... and also that Office has been updated once or twice

Bugs with Acrobat Pro & OFfice 2003
Hello. I bought/downloaded Acrobat Pro yesterday and immediately started having probs with office 2003. I have lost most mouse functions in word and outlook. I can no longer click in the body of the documents. Tried closing and restarting and still same prob. Any suggestions on how to fix?
Good morning.
I just installed acrobat 10 (it's the latest version that they are selling
on adobe's website) and yes, when I uninstall, the issues go away. I then
tried reinstalling acrobat and the probs came back.

Error converting office 2003 apps to pdf - acrobat 9 pro
I have today upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and I cant anymore convert to pdf from my office 2003 applications. (outlook - word - xl). It does however, converts from the Internet Explorer.
Printing directly to the adobe printer from word - xl doesnt work either.
Everything was working fine prior to the upgrade.
I reinstalled the OS (Windows Vista Ultimate) and performed a clean installation of Acrobat 9 Pro but still doesnt work.
It must be a bug related only to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and office 2003 and I am surprised that I cant find anything in the forum. (Ive searched a few hours prior to opening this topic)
Any help please please please?
Thanks and regards,
ChristosIn AA8 (I assume AA9 is similar) you simply open Distiller, select Settings and click on Add Adobe PDF Settings. However, you have to have a file to add. In vista, the standard location for the jobsettings files is C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings. I have 9 files there by default. They are also located under Settins in the Acrobat 8 folder (Program Files>Adobe) I would have to go to other machines to find the standard locations for those systems, but you might be able to search on line for "Acrobat <OS system> joboptions" with the appropriate OS listed. To see the current setup, open Distiller and check the settings files that are available.<br /><br />If there are none listed in Distiller, but they are on your system, then you might simply try to add. There are some joboptions files available online from several publishers for folks that submit manuscripts to their magazines. That might be an excellent place to get a file if you can not find one. Simply put it into the appropriate folder and use the Add menu in Distiller to add the file.

Disappearing content MS Office 2003 Acrobat 9 Pro
After upgrading to Acrobat 9 Pro from Acrobat 8 Pro, a lot of PDF documents created from Microsoft Office 2003 had missing paragraphs. This happened in Microsoft Word.
The problem did not happen when creating the PDF files through the print driver. Rather, it happened when creating the documents through the "Add-In" where folks can click in a toolbar or "Adobe PDF > Convert to Adobe PDF" from a menu.
The solution was to turn off the "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF" option.I can suggest to try this one:

Acrobat 9 and 10 on the same computer with Office 2003
I am using windows xp. I currently have acrobat 9.x pro installed and PDFMaker is installed in my Office 2003 application...works great. I am considering upgrading from CS4 to CS 5.5 which includes Acrobat 10. I would like to know if I can install Acrobat 10 on the same machine as 9 and if so, will PDFMaker be available for each version in the Office 2003.
Thanks,
ChickHaving 2 versions of Acrobat together is possible (though not recommended), but you will have only one PDFMaker in Office 2003 - ie. from latest version of Acrobat. The entire list of supported PDFMakers with various Office versions/applications is available at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html

Acrobat Standard 8 on Windows 7 printing issues with Microsoft Office 2003
When I try to print from Microsfot Word, Excel, etc. Version 2003 files will not print. I have adobe standard version 8, Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit, Microsoft Office 2003. Please help!!!! I don't get an error message. The progress bar stops at about 10% and goes no further.
AA8 is not certified for Win7, particularly X64. Be sure to update your Acrobat to the most current version and you might be able to use it. As an alternative, print to file when using the printer and then open the file in Distiller to get the PDF. That may be your only choice, but I do think some folks have been successful with WIn7 and AA8. However, the x64 system puts a wrench into the problem.

My installation of Acrobat Pro extended works printing all types of Microsoft Office 2003 documents (Word, Excel, Pagemaker, etc) but NOT with Powerpoint and I'm trying to get more information other than what I'm seeing in Powerpoint when I try to create the PDF which is "an error occurred while trying to print the Adobe PDF"
where would I look for the log file?
thanksRESOLVED!!!

for this reason I tried to write a .sh script which a liked to use as a folderaction script (automator)
I would like use crontab, but seams that doesn't work under 10.5 !!!
if I call the .sh in the app. terminal it seams to work, even if there shows up some error message for each founded file
"chmod: Failed to clear ACL on file *.doc: No such file or directory"

any help would be gratefulHi
Cron does still work in 10.5, however its better if you use launchd. If you're not comfortable with launchctl then you could use Lingon instead? This provides a graphical interface for launchd and is freely available. Google for an appropriate download site or use this link:
http://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Lingon.shtml
For assistance with the script you could cross-post over in the Technologies Forum? You might get a better/quicker response:

howdy all,
Could you please help me to resovle the very much odd issue of HP Priner driver on Win7sp1x64 as below.
1.HP Deskjet 970Cse printer connected thru usb to a router and installed to all LAN PCs thru a standard tcp/ip ports works well (i.e. printing anyting w/o any problem) on 3 PCs - 2 of 3 with win7sp1x64; and 1 of 3 - win7sp1x86. All 3 with
IE11[11.0.9600.17041] recently(!) updated from IE8.
2. However BOTH (that is 2 of 3) above PCs of win7sp1x64 return errors to admin log every time when printing any web page from IE11 and/or docs from Office as below:
Error in short:
The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\UNIDRVUI.DLL, error code 0xc1. See the event user data for context information.
This error in log occurs only if printing from IE11 and/or MS Office. None of other printing jobs are affected including a printing from Acrobat, ACDSee, Google Chrome and Opera. The printing of Test Page by printer
itself not affected as well!!!
3. win7sp1x86 PC prints everything w/o any errors in log!
4. Printer uninstall incl. cleaning of Print Server config + clean install doesn't work.

That's it. Any questions are welcome.
Thank you.
PS: I just wanna confirm that this odd error occurs only when printing from IE11 and MS Office 2003 on Win7sp1x64. MS Office 2007 is not affected!OK, Z COMPLETE SOLUTION FOUND!
Although z cause of this odd issue is yet unclear. However it seems to be z HP driver problem after all.
Actually my printer is not HP Deskjet 970Cse but HP Photosmart 1115 Series. Z very nice working dinosaur, which was officially run out by HP Support from WinXPx86 times. Though it was always working
just nice with either HP Deskjet (DJ) 970Cse Win7driver (better) or HP Photosmart (PS) 7200 Series one (worse – when it works no so good with TCP/IP printer installation).
Well… when I got into z recent problem with DJ970cse driver I happened to check if printer works with z PS7200 one. Oops, same not good as before but NO LOG ERROR! A bit of study gave me understanding
that both drivers are using z absolutely same core files but PS7200 driver uses its own PCL Language Monitor as well as z Print Processor (not a standard winprint of Windows).
And while I unfortunately got no any reasonable ideas on how to solve this issue from IT Pros and others MS MVP during a few days after my posting here and there, except those very smart ones
like ‘uninstall, reboot and install again’, I had no option other than to find solution by myself.
I’ve downloaded a bunch of HP printer models Win7x64 driver pack from MS Update Catalog "http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=hp%20deskjet%20970cse" (x86 also available.
This driver pack is for maybe over 400 HP printer models incl. both DJ970Cse & PS7200) and modded its genuine INF file for HardwareID of my PS1115 as HPPHOTOSMART_11150FFF with use of 970Cse driver but also some DLLs and PCL Language Monitor
of PS7200 one.
This modded by me INF file is attached as a Code Block. Pls be advised that all originally integrated printer devices strings except DJ970cse & PS7200 ones were deleted for convenience and
z 1 new combined string for PS1115 added. Then everybody interested can compare & track z changes done. This modded driver is now installed and working w/o any glitch on 2 of my Win7sp1x64 PCs. Although I’ve maybe spent totally a day or
so on all that fuss of posting about & studying around.
My final conclusion is z very much common one
– f**k HP… and/or MS as well, when it’s yet unknown why this error occurred after z years of no problem use of DJ970Cse driver but after Win7sp1 updating to IE11 and/or KB2775511 and only with x64 version
of OS.
bye for now.
PS: btw, why I’m not able to attach any small text file or post a link to MS site here???!!!
END
UPDATE 2014-06-12-Thu: there is one more small glitch of printing to paper from IE11 only found! now it's about a Print Processor settings...
pls set not any hp oem print processor but z standard windows one aka 'winprint' to be used for printing in Printer properties > Advanced sub-menu, otherwise a printout is incorrect in part of a printed page header &
footer. a page print preview is ok but z printed header is incomplete = cut at right side, and no footer printed at all.
pls be advised that above note is valid for both modded & genuine driver installed and for both x86 & x64 win7...

Report Generation Toolkit does not recognize Office 2003
Hi there
The newly installed MS Office 2003 and LV 8.5.
When installing Report Generation Toolkit is screams that it does not recognize Office 2003:
"Microsoft Office version 2000 or higher was not detected on the system. You need to install Microsoft Office 2000 or higher before you install the NI Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office 1.1.2."
What to do?
thanks
PawelDid you reboot your system after installing Office 2003? Have you launched Word and/or Excel since installing Office 2003? I think there might be some registry initialization that takes place on first launch of Word and Excel. If you've launched Word/Excel and the RGT 1.1.2 installer still isn't detecting them, there may have been a problem with your Office 2003 install. Try uninstalling Office 2003 and reinstalling it. When you reinstall, double-check that Word and Excel are selected in the install. Then launch them both a first time before trying to install RGT 1.1.2. If it still doesn't detect Office 2003, perhaps there's another problem with your system. Are you using any foreign language software? What OS are you running? Is it Office 2003 standard or professional? Is there anything weird about your Office install, like is it installed over the network instead of from CDs?
I'm hoping the answer to one of these questions helps you solve the problem. Keep me posted...

I can't create pdf files from word 2003 files in acrobat 9 pro any more
Until recently, i was able to make pdf files from word 2003 documents using the "create pdf from file" in acrobat 9 pro. Combining several word documents into 1 pdf was also a piece of cake.
Now, this doesn't work any longer. If i want to select the files, office 2003 files are no longer listed in the supported file formats.
See the picture belowTry running a Repair Installation on Acrobat (via the Help menu).

Office 2003 - Client Version 7.1.5
Hi,<BR><BR>We are using both Essbase and TM1, during installation each piece of software knocks the other out of the..<BR><BR>"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Excel\Options\OPEN" <BR><BR>registry key. It is possible to work around with a VB Script which adds the following back into the registry..<BR><BR>[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Excel\Options]<BR>OPEN="/R \"C:\\Hyperion\\essbase\\BIN\\ESSEXCLN.XLL\""<BR>OPEN1="/R \"C:\\Hyperion\\essbase\\BIN\\ESSXLEQD.XLA\""<BR>OPEN2="\"C:\\Program Files\\Applix\\bin\\tm1p.xla\""<BR><BR>However, my question is whether or not a user can actually repair this themselves using the usual Excel, Tools, Add-ins, Search function to find the add-in file again. When they do this using Office 2003, ESSEXCLN.XLL is not valid because it does not have a .XLA file extension.<BR><BR>Anybody know of a 'user' workaround, we have policy implications for sending .VBS files around the network.<BR><BR>Thanks,<BR>Dave<BR>
I have read somewhere (here or network54) that if a prior version of office was installed (and Office2k3 is an upgrade), that the install works. What prior version of Office (97 or 2k), I don't know. (Thinking out loud here..) The the add-in installer must be looking for a reg key to confirm that Excel has been installed, so you might be able to use a registry inspector utility to determine what keys the installer is reading, then add the reg entry(s) as as a prerequisite of the add-in install. As a side note, I don't know that Excel2k3 is officially supported, so be careful. It may be 99% compatible, but if the one item that isn't compatible turns out to be a major issue with youer apps, and you just deployed XL2k3 to a lot of users, it could be a big headache.
