Question on Netbackup configuration

DB version : 11.2
OS platform : AIX 6.1
Netbackup version : 7
I need to configure RMAN backup to tape for my Production DB using netbackup as the MML. The instruction given to me was
Shutdown all DBs running from this Oracle Home # Missed this step
cd $ORACLE_HOME/lib
ls -lrt libobk.a
ln -s /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/libobk.a64 libobk.a
Start all DBsI did all the above steps except bringing down the DB running from this ORACLE_HOME. After the symbolic link creation I even tested backup of the Control file to tape successfully. Tonight at non-peak hours I am going to run the Full DB backup. Will there be any issue due to DB not being bounced? I can't test it now as it is production.

You do not need to start or shut down the instance when installing the media management library.You seem to be on 11gR2 so it all should work fine.
I can't test it now as it is productionWell doing the backup now will generate extra I/O now as well....

I am sorry to say that I am not quite sure of your environment.
Did you mean that you have a local DNS server in a workstation? Based on my experience, you can configure as below on the DNS server:
Primary DNS server : itself
Secondary DNS server : 127.0.0.1 (As the BPA for DNS indicates that DNS servers on <adapter name> should include the loopback address, but not as the first entry)
In addition, if you want to perform external name resolution, please configure a DNS forwarder (You can point it to your ISP DNS server, if the time provider can perform external name resolution, you can also point it to the time provider) on the DNS server:

Then please point the DNS server on the clients in the workstations to the IP address of your local DNS server.

Questions on OTL Configuration

I think you are using a very old version of the config document!
The latest version (I think) is called "Configuring The Oracle Time and Labor Timecard User Interface White Paper" and is dated 25th March 2008.
I'm not a technical person, so I am not 100% sure on which qualifier attribute(s) you ight need, but have a look at the specification for the type of component you need to use (e.g. LOV) and see what each qualifier attribute does.

Just double-checking - a question re. right configuration

I would like to ask the experts whether my following network setup is configured correctly (or ideally for that matter).
We have a flat with a lot of walls between the rooms, so one router is not enough to ensure wifi reception in every room. Thus my current setup is:
a)
In one room:
Internet -> TC (configured using dual wifi networks with different names / 2,4 + 5Ghz) -> + additional connection via LAN Port to Powerline Adaptor / wall socket
b)
second room:
Wall socket / Powerline Adaptor -> Airport Extreme via WAN Port (The AE is in Bridged Mode, the wifi networks are configured exactly the same way/same names as in room #1, but however using different channels than in room #1).
My questions:
1) Does this setup reflect an ideal setup in a flat that is so large / with a lot of walls that I need a second router to ensure wifi reception everywhere?
2) If yes,
     2a)     Using the WAN port instead of the LAN ports on the bridged AE is correct? Or doesn't it make a difference if I use LAN or WAN on the bridged AE?
     2b)     Using the same wifi network name in both rooms (but on different channels) makes sense, right? I figured my end-devices will always choose the                      better router (either TC or AE) depending on where I move about in my flat...

An ideal setup would use Ethernet cabling between the routers. Powerline Adaptors have a good deal more signal and speed loss....and can be "iffy" as far as reliabiliy. After all, you are sending an Ethernet signal over the electrical wiring in your home.
Powerline can work OK in some homes,but not others. You just have to try it out to see how it works in your home. Ethernet cabling always works, and there is no signal loss in a wire.

When you have an AirPort in Bridge Mode, it makes no difference whether you use the WAN or LAN port(s), since they all behave as LAN ports in Bridge Mode.
2b)     Using the same wifi network name in both rooms (but on different channels) makes sense, right? I figured my end-devices will always choose the                      better router (either TC or AE) depending on where I move about in my flat...
Same Wi-Fi nework name, same wireless security, and same password on channels that are separated at least 4-5 settings on the 2.4 GHz band and another channel on the 5 GHz band.
Most laptops will automatically switch to the AirPort providing the strongest signal as you "walk" them around the house. But, do not expect iPhones, iPads, etc to do this, as their operating systems are not as sophisticated.
If you want an iPhone or iPad to pick up the "other" AirPort when you move it around, you usually need to turn off the Wi-Fi on the iPhone, move it, and then turn it back on again. Hopefully, it will pick up the signal from the closer AirPort router.

A few questions regarding the configuration of Adobe Document Services

For Your Information: the main questions are repeated at the end of this post.
The Adobe Document Services seems to work fine. The test I did on http://<server>:<port>/AdobeDocumentServices/Config gives the error
' "Required stream: "PDFDocument" not found. ' so that's fine.
But when I do this: http://server:50000/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/TutWD_OnlineInteractiveForm/OnlineInteractiveFormApp
The result: the PDF is shown and I can enter text in the textboxes and also use the radioboxes.
But I can't use the dropdownboxes, neither can I use the "submit" and "check" buttons..
Is this normal? Or is it because of the ReaderRights credential?
Or is it necessary to install the ACF?

-The SLD is okay, it doesn't need to be configured
-The Adobe Lifecycle Designer is automatically installed when installing the Netweaver Studio Sneak Preview SP16

If the replacement value called is an interval, you use this setting to specify whether the lower interval limit (from value) or the upper interval limit (to value) is used as the replacement value.
For formula variable, you can also choose the interval difference as the replacement value. Using this setting, you can easily calculate the difference of period boundaries. The interval difference is the from value minus the to value plus 1. For example, the period January to March gives a result of 3 (the to value 3, minus the from value 1, plus 1)

Question on potential configurations for resource cluster as virtual machine server / beowulf / render farm

I am looking for a starting point on where to focus my efforts in researching a desired configuration. Of course anyone who spends anytime researching in forums knows that one thing that people hate is for people
to ask questions that can be easily answered with a simple Google search, so let me start by saying I have done many hours of research on this already. The problem I am having is that although there is a huge amount of information out there on what I
am looking to do, I don't believe many people have attempted this on as small of a scale as a single user system. Also, the amount of routes to go down seems endless, which for me so far has led to many hours of wasted trial and error. So keep
in mind that I am not so much looking for a handout on answers but rather a more narrowed path of searching and researching.
What I am looking to do is take the current equipment that I have and consolidate it into a 9-12U server rack using mounted 2 or 3U atx cases so that I can have a more organized, space saving setup. That is the
easy part, what I have been looking into though is the combining of cores and processing power to make a "super computer" yet I use this term very loosely. From what I have read, the closest thing I can compare the idea in my head to is referred
to as a Beowulf Cluster, or a Render farm but I believe as the name suggests that this is more dedicated to a single task of rendering. I like the idea of a virtual machine server where I would never actually locally use this machine but rather set up
many virtual machines that I can remote into. I started to compile a ProxMox Server, and this was the right idea, however when running a VM, that VM is constrained to the hardware resources of the single node that it is assigned to. If there is
a way to be able to have a machine that would utilize the 20 some odd cores that I would have in the cluster, along with the 40-50 gigs of ram, well that would be ideal but sounds too good to be possible. Also, ProxMox isnt quite there in compatibility for
a home/home office user. I understand that the programs that are used have to be written in a way where the architecture allows for such, but if it could even be used for speeding up my render time with Adobe and Autodesk (which I know do have such functionality)
that would be wonderful.
So without writing a whole book I am looking for suggestions on how to proceed. Can I literally build a "super computer" that is not really that super... more mediocre super... or am I better off just consolidating the hardware but not the
OS's and programs. Also, I do currently use three or four different distros of Linux, mostly for ethical hacking and security type work like pen testing. One thing I have never been a fan of though is dual booting. Perhaps investing
in a hot-swap HDD chassis that I could load all the different OS's on where I could just pop in whatever OS I am looking to use. As you can see I am far from knowing where to spend my efforts in research.... THANK YOu for ANY help.

The cluster works only for standalone webcache and httpserver installations types.
If you want to do this you have to use dcmctl command to change from one farm to another.
try checking with dcmctl command with out options an dyou will get a full list of options.
then run dcmctl usage(orhelp) option to see what you need.
As far as I remember
you have to check the farm id of the server you want to be the master
then in the second, you have to run dcmctl joinfarm or something like that.

Question on example "configuring qllc to eth with local switching"

Let's consider that the Mainframe is on the ethernet side (OSA card) and the station on the serial side. Then I guess the example will work fine.
To make things more complecated, now suppose that there is another station on another serial let say s0/1, with its own x.121 address, whereas the station is on s0/0. Now, if the station also wants to speak x.25 with the server on s0/1, how this could be accomplished? Does the configuration of the s0/0 with the x25 map and qllc dlsw commands, forbids the station from talking to other serial interfaces? Or if I just add a x.25 route to the s0/1, then whenever station asks for the x.121 address of the server it will be guided there?

I am sorry but I think the question as it was set was a bit confusing. So, please let me rephrase it using the same example as basis. Let's consider we have two AS400 (a & b) connected with x25 to two serials on a router. This router is connected with a x.25 serial interface with another router, at serial s0/0, which has two connections:
i) Ethernet to mainframe (OSA)
ii) Serial (s0/1) x25 to another server (Stratus)
AS400A is to speak with OSA card whereas AS400B is to speak with the stratus server.
If I configure the serial interface to map x25 address of AS400A to a vmac and guide this to OSA, then will the other AS400B be able to connect to the Stratus?

Question about Integrated Configuration (Advanced Adapter Engine in PI 7.1)

When you use Advanced Adapter Engine in PI 7.1 with Integrated Configuration scenario, it bypasses ABAP stack therefore you can't monitor processed message in SXMB_MONI. Instead this message shows up only in RWB Adapter Engine message monitoring. When you select the message from there, you can view the BEFORE mapping payload in Message Content tab. My question is how do you view the AFTER mapping payload when using Integrated Configuration.

You can't.
So first you have to configure a standard scenario and test the stuff. When everything is fine, remove the standard scenario and create an Integrated Configuration.

You can remove the certificate but you need to be in certificate chain configuration mode to delete certificates. An example configuration is provided here

Benefit - Question on EOI configuration for Insurance plan

I have a question related to Evidence of Insurability under Insurance Plan.
The requirment is that when an EE enrolls into an Insurance plan within 30days of DOH then EE doesn't need to provide EOI otherwise if EE enrolls into the plan after 30days then its mandatory to provide EOI. Could you please help me on how to set this condition when configuring EOI?

Hi DF, Thanks for the comment.
Actually the requirement is, the EOI to be provided by EE is determined by DOH. Under garce period it determines the period when the EE should return EOI.
In our case, the EE don't have the provide EOI when they enroll within 30 days of DOH and they must provide if they enroll after 30days.

Question on QOS Configuration

I am classifying traffic using NBAR and Access-lists, setting DSCP values, and then useing bandwidth percentages to reserve bandwidth for protected classes in times of high utilization.
I currently have this setup on my outside interface (connecting to PE) and have the service policy set on output (egress).
I have found that large data transfers of default-class traffic is still able to overwhelm the link and the resereved bandwidth percentages to not seem to be able to protect the data in those classes.
Question 1 - Is it common configuration to classify, mark, and set queing policies on the same interface? Or should I be classifying and marking on the ingress of the LAN interface and then apply the queing on the outside interafce egress?
Here is my current config. As you can see, I am classifying the traffic ussing access lists and NBAR, and then I am using the policy map on my outside (PE connnected) interface egress. For brevity, I have not included the contents of the access-lists. Does anyone see any issues with this config?

I don't know how common one technique is vs. the other, as QoS is still a bit uncommon, but if possible, I personally prefer doing everything in the egress policy.
Does anyone see any issues with this config?
I normally recommend against using RED unless you really understand the technology. I would especially question using RED and FQ in the same class, as you do in class AF21.

You describe connecting to a PE, so this is not a p2p link? If you're working across some kind of cloud technology, just setting QoS, even correctly, on the egress to cloud interface might be insufficient. Might you describe your WAN environment?
As you mention default-class traffic, but you didn't post a default-class, you're just using the implicit default settings for this class?
As you're using NBAR and FQ in a named class, I assume you're working with a software based router using post HQF QoS, but identification of the actual platform and IOS version being used, might also be helpful.

A question about CAR configuration

Questions re LOM configuration via ipmitool

After configuring an Xserve's channel 1 LOM with the Server Monitor (and powering off/removing the plug to make the LOM reconfiguration to take effect), running the command
IPMITool user list 1
produces no output even though the Server Monitor does list the configured LOM user name. Is this (non)output expected?
Relatedly, I am trying to figure out how to configure the LOM with IPMITool rather than Server Monitor. The tool documentation seems to imply that one would use
IPMITool user set name <user id> <username>
to configure the LOM user. Assuming that one is interested in only one user (as effectively allowed by Server Monitor), what should one specify for the user id?

Try using sudo before your command, as the tool may need to run as root.
I just tried:
sudo ipmitool -v -v user list 1
and get this reply

Questions regarding customisation/configuration of PS CS4

I have accumulated a list of questions regarding customising certain things in Photoshop. I don't know if these things are doable and if so, how.
Can I make it so that the list of blending options for a layer is by default collapsed when you first apply any options?
Can I make it possible to move the canvas even though I'm not zoomed in enough to only have parts of it visible on my screen?
Is it possible to enable a canvas rotate shortcut, similar to the way you can Alt+RightClick to quickly change brush size?
Is it possible to lock button positions? Sometimes I accidentally drag them around when I meant to click.
Is it possible to lock panel sizes? For example, if I have the Navigator and the Layers panels vertically in the same group, can I lock the height of the navigator so that I don't have to re-adjust it all the time? Many panels have a minimum height so I guess what I am asking for is if it's possible to set a maximum height as well.
Is it possible to disable Photoshop from automatically appending "copy" at the end of layer/folder names when I duplicate them?
These are things I'd really like to change to my liking as they are problems I run into on a daily basis.
I hope someone can provide some nice solutions

2. No. It's a sore spot that got some forum time when Photoshop CS4 was first released, then again with CS5. It's said that the rules change slightly when using full-screen mode, though I personally haven't tried it.
3. Not sure, since I haven't tried it. However, you may want to explore the Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts... menu, if you haven't already.
4. What buttons are you talking about? Those you are creating in your document? If so, choose the layer you want to lock in the LAYERS panel, then look at the little buttons just above the listing of the layers:
5. There are many, many options for positioning and sizing panels. Most start with making a panel visible, then dragging it somewhere by its little tab. One of the important features is that you can save your preferred layout as a named workspace. Choose the Window - Workspace - New Workspace... to create a new named workspace (or to update one you've already created). The name of that menu is a little confusing. Once you have created your workspace, if something gets out of place, choose Window - Workspace - Reset YourNamedWorkspace to bring it back to what was saved.
You'll find that panels like to "stick together", which helps with arranging them outside of the Photoshop main window.

6. No, it's not possible to affect the layer names Photoshop generates, as far as I know. I have gotten in the habit of immediately naming them per their usage, so that I don't confuse myself (something that's getting easier and easier to do...).
