Question on PI 7.1 release restrictions

Hello folks, we are going to be upgrading to PI 7.1 EHP1 from PI 7.0 in our environment soon. Our DEV environment is on a unix server that also hosts EP and MDM usage types (on same physical server although on different filesystems alltogether). I came across SAP Note 1004107 that says, "
Upgrade: source system must be a dedicated PI system
Prerequisite for an Upgrade to SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 is that the PI source system runs exclusively the following usage types and standalone engines: Integration Server, PI (PI  Process Integration), AS (AS Java Application Server Java), AAS (AS ABAP  Application Server ABAP), PCK (Partner Connectivity Kit ), PI-PCK (PI PCK  Partner Connectivity Kit), Adapter Engine (J2EE). Prerequisite for an Upgrade to EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1 is that the PI source system runs exclusively the following usage types and standalone engines: Integration Server, PI (PI Process Integration) , AS (AS Java Application Server Java), AAS (AS ABAP  Application Server  ABAP), PCK (Partner Connectivity Kit ), DI (DI Development Infrastructure), PI-PCK (PI PCK  Partner Connectivity Kit), Adapter Engine (J2EE).
In that case, does the "system" count as a dedicated PI system since other usage types are on their own filesystems or is this considered a shared environment. This is important since it will determine the upgrade strategy we follow (upgrade vs. new install). Or does anyone have similar experience.
Thanks in advance!

> In that case, does the "system" count as a dedicated PI system
Yes. It is not important, that other systems or on the same server.

  • A question about item "type and release" of  source system creation

    Hello expert,
I have a question about item "type and release" of  source system creation.
As we know, when we create a web servie source system, there will display a pop-up which includes three items as "logical system","source system"and "type and release".
About the item "type and release",when we push "F4" button, there will be three default selections as below:
    "ORA 115     Oracle Applications 11i
    TLF 205     Tealeaf 2.05B
    XPD 020     SAP xPD".
Who can tell me when and how should I use the three selections.
And also I attempted to input the item by some optional letters except the default three selections and it seems that I can input it freely.
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Maggie

    Hello DMK,
Thank you very much for your answer. It is very helpful for me.
Can I ask you further about it?
I got that it is a semantic description item.
You said the default selections are set by our basis people.Would you like to tell me how should we creat a new value except the default ones for item "type and release"?Only by inputing the value in the item directly? But you see we canot see the new value item we created by ourself when we push "F4" button next time ,is that ok?Or do we have to ask basis people to define one new value item just like the default seletions before we use it.
Also if possible would you like to describe detail about "This becomes important when you are troubleshooting certain issues especially when RFC connection problems."
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Maggie

  • Serveral questions to CRM On demand release 16

    Hi All,
I am using trial version of Oracle CRM On Demand release 16, and I have serveral questions to ask:
    1. In the help document "Administering Oracle CRM On Demand/Business Process Management/Creating workflow Rule Actions" mentioned that we can create an Update value action but I can't find this function in workflow rule action.
So do we have to pay for this function just as "Assign a Book action"?
    2. I can't add new values to Service Request's Status picklist, it's a read-only one.
Is there any way to achieve this?
    Thanks for any suggestion!

    Hi
1.The Action 'Update Value' is availble under Triger Event-'Before Modified Record Saved'.
I am not sure why you have to pay for "Assign a Book action". Thats out of the box functionality.
    2. Yes, SR status is a read only picklist. One workaround I can think of is to create a Custom field for Status. Then run a WF to sync the values of the Custom Status field with the Original Status field (particuluarly the Open and close values. That will maintain the integrity of all the SR matrices).

  • Question - Why Lightroom is not releasing memory?

I've posted this question earlier and was wondering if anyone else is having this problem.
After Lightroom is closed everything slows down. I checked the Task Manager Process tab and noticed the LR is still hogging the memory at 80% to 92%. I have to end the task from there. I don't want to do this every time I shutdown the program. Is there a fix?
    Thanks

I cannot duplicate this as reported with V1.0 trial on Windows XP.
Memory allocations and CPU use varies with the gestures I make to the number of photos chosen. I see memory go up for each module loaded (hint: if you never use the Print, Slideshow or Web modules, don't click on them; they appear to be loaded upon demand) but it memory is also released. Average CPU seems reasonable for a foreground application.
Now, for larger libraries, I bet Lr has to flush all the journaled changes, close up some big structures and finalize all the library stuff. This could probably take a noticeable amount of time after the GUI has closed. I'd expect this work to be finalized in a short amount of time and the actual process disappear.
I guess with a really large library with a lot of pending changes this might take seconds, but even if it is minutes I'd just let it work (maybe purging previews?). A lot of big apps are designed with the new "defer what you can" paradigm, which means you defer a lot of housekeeping to shutdown to decrease startup time (and, therefore, increase perceived application performance).
Real operating systems will give an app that is the process of shutting down access to the resources it needs to complete without starving other processes.
If this is always a problem you might want to raise this with Adobe. It could be a deadlock somewhere.

  • Questions about accessing Oracle9i Database Release 2

    Hi
I'm new to this whole process. My question is how do I access the Application Development portion(SQL+). Do I have to subscribe to the OTN network in order to receive a username, password and host string, in order to log into the SQL Plus application. Is there any documentation that explains how I am able to access the Oracle 9i Database and all of its functions. What do I have to do in order to access The OTN network

This is fairly basic but it should get you to where you need: http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a90842/ch1.htm

  • Question about "Harry Potter" Pre-Release

I am contemplating buying the "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" album from the Music Store. However, in the description it says something about the digital booklet being available AFTER November 14. Does anyone know if this means that if I buy it today, I won't get the digital booklet? Has anyone bought the album or know whether this is the case or not? Also, am I correct in understanding that the album is only available this week? Thanks for any help.

  • Release quantity in q_info reocord

    Hello Friends,
After i actived the release quantity in quality info record, but it only restrict the PO and schedule lines created  manually, not  restrict the schedule lines generated automatically by running MRP.   pls help!

    Hello SujitSND
    Firstly thanks you.
Maybe I didn't describe clearly my question.  I meant the release qty function.
For example, I want to restrict the ordered qty for the material-vendor combination. I set the indicator (Release qty active) and enter the realese qty(1000PC).   Now if I create the PO and enter the qty(1100pc), the error message "For quality reasons, only 1000 remain approved for procurement" occured, then the processing cannot be continued until I input has been corrected.    In like manner, when I maintain the schedule lines mannually after maintaining outline agreement, the error message also occured.   But if the scedule lines through MRP Runing(of course, I already maintain the source list ME01), the system will ignore the error message. that is, the qty of schedule lines can exceeds the release qty(1000).

  • Access restriction based on Sales Units / Sales Area

    Hi all,
I am looking into the access restriction functionality on business roles.
One of our customers has a requirement to separate data between their different sales organisations. One sales organisation should not see customers, opportunities of the other sales organisation and vice versa.
In the access restriction I see that the access context defines on which elements you can set the access restriction.
For customers and opportunities the possibilities are: Employee or Territory.
Setting the access restriction on Employees is not a solid solution for me (when the employees are changed in the org model, the access restriction is influenced on several business roles..)
So what if we do not use territory management / if the territory management setup differs from the actual sales areas / sales units?
So my main questions are: can we set access restriction based on Sales Units? (we will setup integration with SAP ERP which means we cannot enter sales areas for prospects...). And can we influence the access context or do we need developments for that?
    Kind regards,
    Jasper

We plan to enhance the access restrictions based on sales organization and distribution channel in a future release.
If you setup territory management, we offer sales office and sales group including sales organization as attributes to define a territory if you are connected with SAP ERP.

  • MM - ML81N, Release Procedure for service entry sheet

I would like to active the realease strategy for service.
in order to customize I  set:
    -Relase Groups
    -Release Codes
    -Release indicator
    -Release startegues
Then I run ML81N TRX and I called a sheet to try.  This sheet had to has done to one of the  release strategy set...
on the menu (of this trx ML81N)Entry Sheet->Set Status->Release (is still turn off)
Where is the problem?, anybody could help me?
    Tks in advance,
    Nacho

    Hi,
please read the FAQ note 672719, question 5:
Setting up a release procedure is explained in the following short
example: All service entry sheets with material group 007 are supposed
to be subject to a release strategy. This release strategy requires that
the service entry sheets must be released with release code A1. Only the
cost center manager has the authorization for release code A1.
    A) Create a characteristic for the material group:
o  Call Transaction CT04. (Path in the SAP menu in R/3 Enterprise:
           Cross-Application Components -> Classification System -> Master
           Data -> Characteristics)
o  Specify a name for the characteristic, for example CESSR_MATKL,
           and choose the 'Create' pushbutton.
o  On the 'Basic data' tab page, enter a description and keep the
           'Released' status.
o  On the 'Addnl data' tab page, enter table name CESSR and field
           name MATKL (Material group).
o  Enter class type 032 (Release strategy) on the 'Restrictions' tab
page and then save the characteristic.
Note: The release strategy must be based on a field of structure CESSR.
Using Transaction SE11, you can display which other fields are available
in addition to the material group (field MATKL).
    B) Create a class to which you assign the characteristic:
o  Call Transaction CL02. (Path in the SAP menu in R/3 Enterprise:
           Cross-Application Components -> Classification System -> Master
           Data -> Classes)
o  Enter a class name, for example FRG_ESSR, and class type 032 (for
release strategy) and then choose the 'Create' pushbutton.
o  On the 'Basic data' tab page, enter any name. (Keep the
           'Released' status.)
o  Enter characteristic CESSR_MATKL on the 'Char.' tab page and then
           save the class.
    C) Now carry out the required Customizing settings. Follow IMG path
(Transaction SPRO) 'Materials Management -> External Services Management
    Seite 4
-> Define Release Procedures for Service Entry Sheet'
o  At first, you must create a release group (for example 03). For
that, choose 'Release Groups', then choose 'New Entries', enter
'Rel. Group' = 03 and 'Class' = FRG_ESSR. Save the entry. The
system automatically determines value 3 (for entry of services
           performed) for the release object.
o  Now create release code A1 for release group 03. Choose 'New
Entries' and specify the following values: Grp = 03, Code = A1,
and description, for example cost center manager.
o  Create two release indicators, for example A and B. Select the
'Released' field for release indicator B and save the entries.
(Note: A release strategy must at least contain two release
indicators. The first indicator (here A) must be defined as
locked, the last indicator as released. Furthermore, the general
changeability of the service entry sheet and the behavior for
value changes are defined via the release indicators.)
o  Finally create the release strategy. Choose 'New Entries' and
specify the following values: Release group = 03, release
strategy, for example RS, release codes = A1. Assign the two
release indicators A and B via 'Release statuses'. Assign
material group 007 via 'Classification'. Save the release
           strategy.
    D) Assign the authorization for release code A1 and release group 03 to
the cost center manager. In role maintenance (Transaction PFCG), you can
for example use the default values for Transaction ML85 for that.

  • Issue with retriggering Release Strategy

    Hi all,
We have a one off situation here. We had already 10 release staragies in our system. We added 2 more release strategies with a new characteristic. We updated the characteristic value only for the new 2 release strategues and did not update the rest 10. Although now we had updated the characteristic value for remaiining strategies, the purchase documents created in the mean tme is not subjected to release strategy. To ensure business control we need to retrigger back the release strategy for almost 1000's of documents.
As any change to purcahsing document will retrigger it when done manually, but given the number of documents and as per Note 493900 we cannot trigger it by any backgoriund job to modify as below:
    16. Question :
Why is there no release strategy determination when a program changes in
background a purchasing document which corresponds to the classification of
    a release strategy ?
    Answer :
This is the system design that a release strategy determination can only be
triggered through a user action and not by changes made in background
    process.
If you create a document (e.g. PO, Contract, etc), the determination of the
release strategy takes place only in case of a user event like checking or
    saving the document.
Kindly suggest any best practise to retrigger release strategy  for the missing documents to ensure business control. Any easy and time savig measure to get it resolved will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Anand Sampath

    Hi Arnand,
After investigation by searching customer messages database ,I found
other customer has  similar problem as the release strategy has changed
after creation of the SES please review the  explanation from developer
:(whose release code is 03 )
When you try to revoke the acceptance of the service entry sheets
in ML81N or ML81, the 'Enter release code' pop  up window appears, but
entering the code that is determined via the menu path Goto -> Entry
Sheet -> Release Strategy (which is the 03), the SES remains the same.
Nothing changes. The status does not vary and no error or warning
    message is issued.
Checking the customizing for the release strategy, the release code
03 should have never been assigned to the SES 800024272 as the values
for the relevant characteristics were not included under that code.
I do not know how it was managed to accept the SES.
Now, when you try to revoke it, it seems that no release
strategy can be determined, not even including the values RCARESANO
and 012 between the valid values for the characteristics of the release
code 03 (RCARESANO as valid value for SUPERVISOR_SERVICIOS
    (CESSR-ERNAM)and 012 as valid value for GRUPO_COMPRAS (CESSR-EKGRP)).
The only Possibility is to change now the SES so that the release
strategy can be re-determined by the system. This is the Only possible
way that the system can  redetermine the Release Strategy , but it will
not be possible to do so as the SES is already accepted with the Old
strategy and it does not admit any further changes.
To be able to change it you would need to revoke the SES first,
but this Will also not be possible as the Release Strategy was changed
and the system still applies the old rules for determining the Release.
    Solution to our Problem
The Only way to revoke the SES is to Restore back the Old Strategy that
was prior to 03 in the customizing. So now what will happen is that by
applying the Old Rules the System will be able to revoke the SES that#s
using the Old one. Once the necessary SES are revoked then go back to
customizing and apply the new strategy as it was did now, and
Change the SES and save , the new value of the Release Strategy will get
updated in the table ESSR and the field frgsx will now have 03.
Problems associated if the Release strategy is changed
Actually the release strategy is not supposed to be changed when there
are some documents in the System that uses it and even if you change the
Strategy the Old records will not get AUTOMATICALLY UPDATED by the
system. The Release Strategy routine has to run again to update the
values. This is Possible by changing the document SES ,
This change will happen only if the SES is not accepted and if its
accepted then you need to revoke and to revoke you need to restore the
old strategy , revoke and then change the SES , and have to go back to
customizing and Start using the New strategy from now on by doing so the
Routine will update the old record with the new strategy.
    b) You may want to use CEKKO-BADAT(Requisition Date) or any other
structure in CEBAN or CEKKO and create a new release strategy
to differentiate the old release strategy.
    Hope this helps,
    Kind Regards,
    Matthew

  • Preview and Print restrictions in PDF

    Hi there,
I bought the Adobe Type Basics pack, and I would like to use one of the fonts that has the Preview and Print license.
The Preview and Print license states that "Preview & Print allows the font, either fully or as a subset, to be embedded in an electronic document solely for the purpose of viewing that document on screen and/or printing that document. While a font with a Preview & Print embedding permission (either through data in the font file or the font’s license agreement) may be embedded in an electronic document, the embedded font may not be used to further edit the document it is contained in or to edit or create other documents."
If I use this font in a PDF file meant to be sold/distributed, am I violating any of these terms? As far as I know, you can't create an "editable PDF." PDFs are, to my understanding, relatively static--so I do not understand why there is such specific wording about the prohibition of "further edits."
I am using MAC Pages, so I could use the additional password protection option (under the "Save as PDF" not "Export as PDF" section)  to prevent people from "copying text, images, and other content." I presume "other content" covers fonts, but I'm not sure. And I don't know if the password encryption will prevent "editing." Technically doing so would be encrypting the PDF, I believe. However, this would not be bulletproof protection. And I do not know if that will prevent font extraction.
I would appreciate some help. From what I understand, all these points seem more relevant for PSD, AI, EPS and other workflow-type files.
    Cheers

    Thanks for posing this question.
Although fonts have embedding restrictions baked into the font such as preview and print, the real restrictions are to be found in a font's EULA (End User License Agreement) which may have other restrictions including payment of royalties on copies of PDF files or any other asset in which the fonts are embedded.
In the case of any and all fonts sourced from Adobe, not only do you have at least preview and print embedding privileges, but there are no restrictions or royalties required for distribution of files (i.e., PDF, EPS, eBooks, etc.) in which the Adobe fonts are embedded.
In other words, you are “good to go” with Adobe fonts. On the other hand, make no assumption about fonts sourced from other font foundries. Many do not provide such liberal terms!
