Question on preferred language errors in logfile
Hi,
running ICS 5.1.1 plain on Solaris 9. In the http.log file I see hundreds if not thousands of warnings/errors like:
[21/Dec/2004:10:01:16 +0100] <nodename> cshttpd[29477]: General Notice: User <username>: Preferred language (nl) can not be found. Use English instead.
Is this 'Preferred language' setting derived from the user's LDAP entry attribute 'preferredLanguage: nl'?
And if so, what can I do to prevent this error from showing up? AFAIK the 'preferredLanguage' setting is shared between various applications like the webmail interface and possibly other site-specific applications. So just changing the preferredlanguage value seems to be not an option.

I have recently upgraded my Apple mac computer to a new

am unable to use Contribute. I transferred everything from my
old computer and cannot understand the error message. When I
attempt
to connect in Contribute the error message says the following

the
preferred languages in the international preferences." I then
proc
eed to the language settings under system preferences and
check to see
that the only language checked is english. I do not know what

Support for this procedure was withdrawn in SPS 5. See the following release note:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/43/2f50dcc0750b18e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
I am afraid that does not fix your problem, but at least you know why it does not work. I am disappointed to see the procedure still available on the Help Portal, though it does not appear in the structure in the navigation pane at least.

I just agreed to a update of iTunes and now I get a "language" error when trying to open it.
I just agreed to an update of iTunes on my imac (running OS-X 10.8.4) and now I get an error when trying to open iTunes. The error is: "This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language. Please run the English version." What?
I'm not a tecchie and could really use some step-by-step instructions on how to get my Itunes working again! I've never changed the language on my Mac...have no idea where this language error came from.
Thanks!Hello E1777,
You can try this link to download iTunes from the Apple website. It should resolve the issue for you.

Best Practices Question: How to send error message to SSHR web page.
Best Practices Question: How to send error message to SSHR web page from custom PL\SQL procedure called by SSHR workflow.
For the Manager Self-Service application we’ve copied various workflows which were modified to meet business needs. Part of this exercise was creating custom PL\SQL Package Procedures that would gather details on the WF using them on custom notification sent by the WF.
What I’m looking for is if/when the PL\SQL procedure errors, how does one send an failure message back and display it on the SS Page?
Writing information into a log or table at the database level works for trouble-shooting, but we’re looking for something that will provide the end-user with an intelligent message that the workflow has failed.
Thanks ahead of time for your responses.
RichWe have implemented the same kind of requirement long back.
We have defined our PL/SQL procedures with two OUT parameters
1) Result Type (S:Success, E:Error)
2) Result Message
In the PL/SQL procedure we always use below construct when we want to raise any message
hr_utility.set_message(APPL_NO, 'FND_MESSAGE_NAME');
hr_utility.raise_error;
In Exception block we write below( in successful case we just set the p_result_flag := 'S';)
EXCEPTION
WHEN APP_EXCEPTION.APPLICATION_EXCEPTION THEN
p_result_flag := 'E';
p_result_message := hr_utility.get_message;
WHEN OTHERS THEN
p_result_flag := 'E';
p_result_message := hr_utility.get_message;
fnd_message.set_name('PER','FFU10_GENERAL_ORACLE_ERROR');
fnd_message.set_token('2',substr(sqlerrm,1,200));
fnd_msg_pub.add;
p_result_message := fnd_msg_pub.get_detail;
After executing the PL/SQL in java
We have written some thing similar to
orclStmt.execute();
OAExceptionUtils.checkErrors (txn);
String resultFlag = orclStmt.getString(provide the resultflag bind no);
if ("E".equalsIgnoreCase(resultFlag)){
String resultMessage = orclStmt.getString(provide the resultMessage bind no);
orclStmt.close();
throw new OAException(resultMessage, OAException.ERROR);
It safely shows the message to the user with all the data in the page.
We have been using this construct for a long time for all our projects. They are all working as expected.

After changing the System's Preferred Language to FRANCAIS, then back again to BRITISH ENGLISH, I've found that the FLAGS menu of MAIL.APP will not change back to ENGLISH.
e.g.
- I change the Preferred Language setting to FRANCAIS,
- I restart Mail.app.
- I change the Preferred Language setting to BRITISH ENGLISH
- I restart Mail.app.
The Flags menu is still in FRANCAIS. Every other menu is using the correct language
- I then change the Preferred Language to ESPANOL
- I restart Mail.app
- I change the Preferred Language setting to BRITISH ENGLISH
The Flags Menu is now in ESPANOL.
It seems I can change the FLAGS menu to anything other than ENGLISH or BRITISH ENGLISH.
Rebooting between changes and/or leaving Mail.app open or closed seems to make no difference.
It's quite annoying as I make extensive use of keyboard shortcuts to flag emails....!
Any clues?I should point out that every other menu is changing correctly to reflect the Preferred Language. It is just the FLAGS menu that is not changing to english.

Why when I set up my Country or Region on my iPhone 5, the default language of the phone is the country's and not the one I selected when I set up my preferred language?
Go to Settings/General/Reset and choose Reset All Content and Settings. This will erase everything on the iPhone and allow you to set it up again as new with the proper Apple ID.

Capture runtime std output and error to logfile using dbms_scheduler
Hi,
I am trying to replace my cron jobs with dbms_scheduler.
can we capture output of a job from DBMS_SCHEDULER to a logfile similar to cron.
As in cron, we capture output in logfile.
30 18 * * * test.ksh > /home/someuser/cronlogs/clean_tmp_dir.log 2>&1
I am not getting any way to send std output and error to logfile in dbms_scheduler.
I tried also ...
dbms_scheduler.set_job_argument_value('test.ksh',1,'>');
dbms_scheduler.set_job_argument_value('test.ksh',2,'/home/someuser/cronlogs/clean_tmp_dir.log');
dbms_scheduler.set_job_argument_value('test.ksh',3,'2>&1');
But output not coming to /home/someuser/cronlogs/clean_tmp_dir.log.
Any help?
ThanksHi Karam,
Unfortunately there is no good, easy way to do this. The Scheduler treats arguments as literal arguments so ">" is seen as a regular argument and not a redirection symbol.
You will have to create a one line script that does your redirection and then call that script from the Scheduler.
Here's another idea. Write a redirect.sh script which takes three arguments: script_to_run stdout_file stderr_file
Then you can convert your cron jobs by calling this redirect.sh file with your script and the files you want to send output/stderr to.
redirect.sh will probably look something like
#!/bin/sh
$1 > $2 2> $3
Hope this helps,
Ravi. -
I've chosen Galician as my preferred language in iOS8. Since the iPhone is not translated to Galician, only the apps which are translated into Galician show up in that language, but the UI shows in Spanish (the second preferred language). Or should it be like that, because some apps (Twitter, Telegram, even the App Store) which have an Spanish translation show up in English. The App Store is even buggier because its fine on my iPad and it used to be OK on my iPhone with these settings, but suddenly it switched to English only in the iPhone. No matter how many times I force quit or reboot the iPhone, wrong language is displayed in some apps.
I think correct behavior is for apps to use the 2nd language on the list, if they do not have the first but do have the 2nd. I don't know why some app would do otherwise.

How can event reminders be delivered in a user's preferred language?
Can the event reminder function of iPlanet Calendar Server(iCS) 2.1 P1 be
configured to send reminders in a user's preferred language if the language is
not English (e.g., French, Italian, or German)?
<P>
In iCS 2.1 P1, there is a server parameter in the server.conf
file called
caldb.smtpmsgfmtdir for
configuring the email notification tag lines. Setting the
caldb.smtpmsgfmtdir
parameter indicates which locale iCS will use for email messages. The default
value is "en," or English.
<P>
Unlike the user interface, iCS 2.1 does not automatically attempt to change
the locale on a per-user basis. A future release of iCS will address this
issue of automatically changing the locale on a per-user basis.Hi,
All you need to do is to create the condition in the discoverer instead of in the query.
Create a custom folder containing the following sq (note that i removed the condition)l:
SELECT s.segment1 vendor_number
,s.vendor_name
,flv1.meaning classification
,pca.certificate_number
,pca.certifying_agency
,pca.expiration_date
,flv2.meaning status
FROM ap_suppliers s
,pos_bus_class_attr pca
,fnd_lookup_values flv1
,fnd_lookup_values flv2
WHERE pca.vendor_id = s.vendor_id
AND flv1.lookup_code = pca.lookup_code
AND flv1.lookup_type = pca.lookup_type
AND flv2.lookup_code = pca.class_status
AND flv2.lookup_type = 'POS_BUS_CLASS_STATUSES'
Then create a discoverer report using this folder using all fields.
Create a new calculation as (use this exact syntax):
Sysdate + :No_of_Days_in_the_Future
Create a new condition:
pca.expiration_date <= <your calculation>
To complete it add a sort as you did in the SQL.
That's it.

How can i display system messages(forms,rep) in prefered language
I want to display returned messages from the system,on reports,charts,Forms buttons in users preferred language. How can i dot that
Thanx in advanceHi,
If you want to display your own message then you add those messages in a table wwnls_strings$. The strings you insert should be in a different domain like 'userdefined'. Please describe the table to know more about the table. You can then use get_string
wwnls_api.get_string(
p_domain => 'USERDEFINED',
p_sub_domain => p_sub_domain,
p_name => p_name,
p_language => wwctx_api.get_nls_language,
p0 => p0,
p1 => p1,
p2 => p2,
p3 => p3);
Thanks,

Question about expression language
Hello,
I have a question about expression language - is it possible to access one variable using abother EL as variable name? For example?
${applicationScope[${sessionScope.project.name}]}Or is there any other way of achieving that?
Thanks a lot for your help
Cheers,
Maciej
Edited by: swider on Oct 29, 2008 2:12 AMI ran some other tests and I found out that following expression does not return value:
${applicationScope[sessionScope.project.aclId]}but this one is working
${applicationScope[sessionScope.aclId]}It is very strange. Project class ia simple JavaBean, has two members (Long and String).
Any ideas what can be wrong with that?

How can I change the preferred language of my online account?
By mistake, my "region" upon sign up was set to Japan (my employer did this, since I live in Japan), but I am American & don't speak Japanese.
Based on a few Google searches, it seems like I have to delete my account & sign up again in order to change the region.
I'm hoping that's outdated information. But if that's indeed the only remedy, how inconvenient for everyone involved!You can not change your country region by yourself.
Could you visit to following site and then click link "Still need help? Contact us".
