Question on songs download from ovi music & compat...

Hello,
I downloaded few songs from OVI Music. can I play these music on my car stereo using USB drive ? essentially is there a license tied to playing the dowloaded songs on any other system other than Nokia phone ?
Any inputs will help.
Thanks
Venks

Just basing on my observations. I've also tried downloading a few files from Ovi (not sure if that's Ovi Music or Ovi Store).
I notice some files have the .DM file extension -- these files appear to be DRM (digital rights management) protected, and presumably won't be playable elsewhere but the Nokia device.
Other files like MP3 or MP4 would likely be playable in other players (eg car players) assuming that file format is supported to be playable on the external player.

  • Error 0x800704C7 while downloading from Ovi Music ...

    Hi
When downloading music from the Ovi Music website using N8 (which came with unlimited music), the downloader makes the download, but gives error code 0x800704C7 at the end. Artist & album name folders get created on the device, but no songs are found therein. I tried again after cleanin web browser, deleting the blank folders from N8 etc, but doesn't help. Re-installing cable drivers & Ovi suite (& all other Nokia-ware on PC) also didn't help. (I rebooted before reinstalling & thereafter).
The error persists in any connection type- Ovi suite, media transfer etc.
    thnx

However, FYI: I forgot mentioning that the last time I was transferring music using the Ovi Store on web route, my cell had switched off & restarted automatically. After this the downloads stopped transferring.
Also, when I transferred (the download got done fine) the first time using Ovi Music player, it gave some error regarding some .dll file by name of DRm <something> (don't remember its exact name). But when I clicked on transfer to N8 again, the transfer completed successfully & I have since downloaded several songs.

  • Can I import songs downloaded from Wallmart & other sites?

I have music I downloaded from Wallmart & other sites. Can these be imported into iTunes & then in the iPod?
    Thanks you,
    Howieb

You can't import songs downloaded from Walmart music service. They are copy protected (DRM) wma files and both itunes and the ipod do not support that. You would need to burn those songs to a music CD and then reimport the CD via itunes or another ripper encoder.
There is no direct way of doing that as far as I know.

  • Does Downloading music from ovi music is free of c...

I want to know that . downloading music from OVI music is free of cost or it costs downloading charges as per 2g/3g internet connection? Pls help
    Thanks in advance
    Vinoth

If you have a comes with music phone, the music you download is actually free, the data used to download it has to be paid for (as does any connection to the internet for any download), the way round this is to set up a wlan connection and use that, or download to your computer and sync with Ovi suite via usb cable !

  • Ipod Nano won't play any songs downloaded from MySpace pages...

My first generation Nano was initially sent back to Apple due to the battery losing it's charge to quickly. They sent me back what appears to be a replacement Nano and now this one won't play any songs downloaded from MySpace pages of bands, shared from friends (unprotected mp3 files) or otherwise downloaded from the internet.
Whats unusual is that any songs imported from a CD to the Nano play fine as do any songs purchased from iTunes. I know Apple has stated that any files the user wishes to play on their iPods will play as long as the format is compatible. (All of these songs in question played on the original Nano and the problems started when they said they fixed it and sent it back (although it is missing the engraving which to me indicates they gave me a refurbished Nano). My Applecare runs out in mid-October so I need to figure out what is wrong. I sent it back a second time and they told me they couldn't recreate the problem so they just updated the software and sent it back.
Someone suggested that some iPods have a part of the firmware activated (which Apple may have been testing) that prevents any non-ITunes store music or music no t off an original CD to fail to play.
When attempting to play downloaded songs from sites like Purevolume and MySpace the iPod plays for a few seconds then shuts down and restarts itself, all of these songs worked fine before Apple took it in for service.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,
I have exactly the same problem. It`s so annoying.
I did a little bit research on this discussion board and this problem seems to be known for quite a long time. It`s confusing me Apple is not able to fix that prob or give customers quick introduction to resolve the prob.
I am currently on vacation in Florida and just bought the new iPod 30 Gig. I transfered already songs from my music cd. That worked fine.
I bought 2 music video files, synced them with no error to the iPod, but it only shows me a black screen when I want to start the video on the iPod itself. itunes plays the files with no problem.
Any ideas how to fix it??

  • Ive had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been using my laptop to sync songs from iTunes.  Unfortunatley, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do i now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

I've had my iPod classic for some time now, and up to now have been connecting it to my laptop to sync any downloaded tunes from iTunes.  Unfortunately, the laptop has died and I'm thinking of buying a iPad.....but how do I now get any songs downloaded from iTunes to my iPod?

If an iPod is set to update automatically it will be associated with a particular library. If you connect that iPod to a different computer or a different library on the same computer you get the the message you are referring to. "The iPod "iPod Name"is linked to another another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library". To use an iPod on multiple computers you change the update method to "manually manage songs and playlists". You can also use multiple iPods on a single computer so you will be able to connect both of your iPods to your existing iTunes. Connect the new iPod and follow the on screen instructions, iTunes will open and update your iPod.
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • HT201303 how can i get songs downloaded from other apple products on my shared apple id on to my ipod nano?

how can i get songs downloaded from other apple products on my shared apple id on to my ipod nano? my daughter just got a new ipod nano for her birthday and we redeemed the shared apple account our family uses and when we went to go buy music it says we need to redeem another card for us to buy the music so i was wondering if i could just let my older daughter download the music onto her phone via itunes app and see if that music would go on my younger daughter's ipod nano but i am looking on the itunes and i don't see an option for that for ipod nanos. thanks so much.

You should always make sure that you put all of your music on your computer.  From there you can sync it to whatever device you like

  • Wh can't I burn a disk with songs downloaded from itunes?  It won't let me burn MP3 songs

I downloaded some songs from itunes and tried to burn them to a disk.  When I tried to burn them as MP3 I got a message that the songs downloaded from Itunes can't be burned as MP3.  Because I paid for the songs I'd like to be ablet o burn them to a disk.  Any solutions?

The songs downloaded from the iTunes Store are in AAC format.  If you wish to use them for an MP3 disc, you need to create an MP3 version using these instructions:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
Note that the conversion process creates a new MP3 version, but leaves the original in the playlist.  You can replace it manually.

  • What does Apple class as a "high quality" download from iTunes (music)?

What does Apple class as a "high quality" download from iTunes (music)?

    no1villafan wrote:
    Not really high quality, then?
I guess that depends on how you define "high quality," eh?
But seriously, in blind listening tests the vast majority of people can not tell the difference between AAC @ 256 Kbps and a CD. So it can be argued that the tracks available on the iTunes Store are, at least, CD quality. And since the tracks Apple gets to sell are coming directly from the master recordings it could also be argued they are, in some cases, better than CD quality.
Just because a digital audio track is lossless does not automatically make it "high quality." At least, not to me.

  • Unable to play songs Downloaded from Nokia Ovi Sto...

    Hi,
I bought Nokia N8 when it was launched. I was using another laptop and music download and playback were working fine there.
Recently i have changed my laptop and Have registered it for Music download through Nokia Ovi Suite and Music player.
I am able to download songs but when i try to play them it throws a message that it needs to install Microsoft DRM software, after i click OK. It either simply hangs or errors out and closes. And the songs show a orange triangle next to them.
Have googled the problem as much as i could but cannot make any sense of the error. Have tried playing downloaded songs from Ovi Suite and Ovi Music player. Both are causing the same problem.
When i try playing the Downloaded songs through Windows media player, It tries searching for Security update then errors out saying that it cannot find the update.
I am running Windows XP SP3 with all Windows updates installed.
Any help in resolving the issue would be Highly appreciated. If there are any Nokia people here, Kindly help me, Its very irritating to download songs and then not be able to play them
Thanks in advance for your help.

I have actually progressed a bit but it is not for the faint hearted and will not work for most:
    1. I had an image of my installation from last year when my OVI PC installation worked so I rolled back to that. That suddenly allowed me to play most of the titles I had downloaded prior to when the image was made.
    2. Unfortunately this did not allow me to play the titles I had downloaded post the image creation. I have tried just about all solutions on the web including MS DRM fix up and installing a new DRM folder.-nothing worked. However, the other day I copied the drmstore file only from my most recent installation before the rollback and it seem to have the DRM information for more then 60% of my music titles. 60% of 38000 titles is a lot better then 10% of 38000. It is now running with my older OVI Music software.
    3. I have spoken to Nokia numouros times; the click one title at a time still means I have to take half a year off work; the techs have intimated (not promised) that the greying out of all titles after downloading one title may be removed - here is to hoping!
In summary: if you have older backups by the actual drmstore file you may be able to retrofit it in the DRM folder and it may work. I am not game to try with a more recent OVI player upgrade so I will keep playing the one year old installation.
