Question on Sound

I recently videotaped something with my camera because my battery ran out on my Canon. I imported the file into FCP4. I expected the image to be of poor quality, but it's not too bad. However, there's a constant rattling of some kind in the audio, possibly a reflection of the cheap component of videotaping with a Nikon camera. It was recorded in mono. Any ideas how to get rid of the rattling? I'm assuming there isn't since it was recorded in mono.

There used to be a program called sound soap that was highly touted here...
What it does is copy a noise sound and then mask that out of the rest of the file. Not sure if there's a universal version or even if it worked all that super-well.
Might google and give it a try.

Question 2
When ever there is an external speaker source (i.e. docked in windows speak), i always want it to automatically use the external speakers. These speakers are USB. I seem to have to play with settings when I reconnect to the speakers to change the sound from the internal speakers.
Question 3
When I disconnect the external speakers, it automatically moves the sound to play out of the internal speakers (and back to the external when they are reconnected). This is happening via a KVMP switch, but happens with no KVMP switch with speakers just pluged into mac. Is there a way to prevent this from automaticaly happening? Is does not happen if the external speakers use the RCA type 3.5 jack; it only happens with USB speakers.

Just bought a Macbook Pro and have questions about sound libraries

I just bought the lower end Macbook Pro 200 GB Mem/2GB Ram. I installed Logic Studio on it. I have about 129 GB memory left. My question is, how does anybody deal with installing Libraries. On my main desktop, I got a separate hard-drive which holds about 150 GB of sound Libraries which I pretty much use. I could not even put this on my Macbook. I would like to work on my files on my new Macbook but would have half of the sounds missing if I work on an existing file (transferring from my Desktop to my macbook) How does everybody else deal with this. A separate ext HD?

Hello - It seems to me that there is a total mess on Logic Studio Installer that doesn't allow one to install the Jam Packs onto an external drive, if that's where you keep your sound libraries. Why is no one from Apple responding to this post, probably because they know what a dogs dinner the installer is. The run through on the install insists on a system disk to load all the listed software. My Ibook has no room for all the Jam Packs and other audio data, so I did a basic install of just the program packages, invested in a 250GB firewire portable for my libraries. I then tried to install the Jam Packs onto my external drive but have to go back to the main installer, which although is aware of the application install, insists upon my system drive as the disk to use even when you tell it to install media only. Incredibley bad, bad, bad error Apple. The only work around I can find is to actually install the Jam packs then move them to the external hard drive and then use the browser for access - I have no idea as of yet how this will affect other operations. And why is there not just a simple setting ( like all good programs PROTOOLS , ABLETON LIVE ) where one selects the path for the Library. Still can't believe how bad an error can get onto a finished product from Apple. Kinda totally disgusted, Is this just Garageband with some Bells & whistles? I've been editing sound for film for the last 10 years, so I know my way around, but this is just stupid. If anyone knows the answer , as this is a question as well as a rant please do respond. Maybe someone from Apple ?

QUESTION ROUTING SOUND!!!!!!!

I was wondering if it was possible to route sound on my macbook pro. For instance, if I plug in headphones, all the sound goes through them and plays in my ears. Same thing for external computer speakers. But my main question is, how can play sound lets say Skype through my laptops speakers but also have music from itunes playing through my headphone jack into my external speakers at the same time. So my computer is outputing sound into 2 sets of speakers.

Lots of questions about Sound Cards and DJ'ing

I am thinking about purchasing a MacBook. First some background. I play in a wedding/corporate band who occasionally hires a DJ to play in between our sets. Sometime I just bring out my Ipod and plug in to avoid this cost. Most DJ's we use bring out a laptop and just plug directly into our PA. I started looking into laptops so we could cut out The DJ cost all together.
In my research I found that Mac's seem to be the Laptop of choice for most DJ's. My question is about the sound card inside the Macs. Is it a good quality. Would I need to upgrade in order for it to sound good going through a PA system. What are the audio outputs for Macs? As I said before I sometimes just use my Ipod and that sounds pretty good but its hard to search for things etc. And which Macbook do you think I should be looking at. The Pro or the regular?

General question about sound libraries and instruments in Logic

I am possibly looking to upgrade from Logic Express 8 to Logic Pro, mostly to take advantage of the vast sound library's and software instruments. My question is to those who are familiar with the sounds, vintage instruments etc. I have a Nord Stage piano with incredible acoustic and electric piano samples...I'm thinking of selling my Nord but I don't want to lose the incredible instrument recreations...can the sounds in Logic Pro compete with the real thing for trained ears?

I see this type of question all the time.
It doesn't matter.
When someone listens to your song it doesn't matter what type of instrument you use, real or not.
If the melody isn't there, no one is going to remember your song.
You know when you get the song right when people hum it while walking, taking the bus, etc...
What they don't talk about is, hey, Sweetsonic used a pretty good Nord on that one song....
Buy Logic 8 cause the massive amount of instruments you get with it will help you explore other instruments, which can lead to a creative song.
Look at the Beatles, when George Harrison experimented with the Sitar, they got more classic songs.

the first one is how can i make a download button for a file
in flash? so that when the user presses it he can have the save as,

1. if you have flash 8, you can use the filereference class
2. if you mean you want to arrange text like a newspaper is
arranged with columns the answer is yes, but there's no easy way to
do that.

Question on Sound forge pro mac with Logic.

I would liketo know if the plug-ins that come with Sound forge pro Mac could be used with Logic directly like using 3rd party plugins.SF has a whooe bunch of plugins but wil be able to use those plug ins ,like EQ ,Exciter, etc as induvidual plugins on a Logic project without having to export the wav file into Sound Forge?

The answer is No if it's anything like the PC version. The plugins are proprietary and only usable in Sound Forge, just as Logic's are only usable in Logic.
However, I don't know this ti be 100%, true.

Question about sound from two clips... any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm doing multiple angles of a shot. I'm importing both video's (miniDV) to iMovie. Now, is there a way to keep the audio from one of the clips going continuously while I switch back and forth from the main clip to the second angle? This way, even if the video is a bit out of sync, no one will notice sound messing up

I want to put together a multimedia PC (if possible at all) with the following abilities:
Want to be able to play music CDs on PC hooked to a stereo system ? a sound card with 2 analog outputs connected to an integrated amp, but also want to be able to play DVD movies with 5. sound ? connected to an A/V receiver ? would Audigy 4 Pro or Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro do the job here? How would it connect to A/V receiver?
Burn quality (emphasis on quality) music CDs and movie/music DVDs with dual layer capability, must be able to read them in other CD and DVD players ? would Plextor PX-76AL do the job? Any other recommendations?
And would the same DVD dri've do the job of burning and reading DVD? Should get another one? What about progressi've scan?
How to bring video to TV, what video card would do the job, something with DVI? Any recommendations?
Though in a few games (decent graphic).
What motherboard/PCU would be needed here?
Finally, any recommendations for stores in GTO or on-line stores that would put something like this together?

Good point on CPU and heat generation, but can I really save so much and lower the noise, other components still need to be cooled down?
And water cooling would be probably way to expensi've.

Question on sound qual

I own a zen micro. Will I notice a change in sound quality if i change from the stock earphones to sharp md33s/creative ep630?
The catch is that all of my mp3s are from limewire and 70% of them is 28 bitrate. Only 5% are above 200. And some are not quality ri
ps.
Will I still notice an increase in sound quality to justify me buying better earphones?

28 is a decent enough bitrate, but with nice enough headphones you can hear distortion in it too.
The better and better headphones you get, the better it sounds. 28Kb/s is enough to hear a difference in the audio quality, but it depends on how nice teh headphones are.
One big thing is their ability to reproduce low-end sound, which 28Kb/s music DOES have (it is the high end sounds that are usually lost when encoding). only nicer headphones can do that. some good ones are the Sony MDR-EX-7 earbuds, any Bose headset, and many many others. Is there a way to increase the number of times a sound activates for the various events? On my Curve I think I could choose from 1 - 3.

Question ref sound

Model 55UX600U. When I change the sound option to Cinema, Spatial or off - I hear no difference. They all sound the same. Is there suppose to be a noticeable difference in these options? Also when I adjust the Bass and Treble options I do not hear any difference. The sound does not change no matter what options I use. I talked to support and they had no idea and said they have never heard of this problem, if it is a problem, and if not then I will have to pay service people to look at it and tell me there is nothing wrong. It seems to me those options would not be there if they do not do anything. Volume adjustment works fine so I assume that section is OK. Can anybody advise if there is suppose to be a difference?
Guess I am the only person in the world that owns this TV. I would think someone who might own it would have tried the sound options. Guess not.

I just got the 46SL417 last week and have preaty much the same sound issues. I don't even see any speakes in the holes below the screen. I updated the firmware and hear no diffence infact when I make picture adjustments the sound sounf seem to revert to the dynamic sound being off even though the adjustment are still there. Ihave to turn the TV off and back on to get it to work. Treble and base seem to have no audible effect.

Question regarding sounds/notification

I have my bluetooth ear piece connected to my iphone. When I receive a text message the sound goes to my ear piece only. Is there any way to get the sound to come to my phone as well? When the phone rings, my phone and Bluetooth rings. I would like to get the same thing for notifications. Thanks.

What you have observed is the way it works. It's not user adjustable.
