Question on storing mult row result set in Associative arrays

the strange thing is, that if I run the same query out of java on MS SQL 2000 it works fine.
the Stored Procedure fills first a temp table and after it selects an InvestmentType and executes a select
I call the select procedure from a other procedure.
EXEC PRInvestmentObjectList3      
@cdIdentifier=@cdIdent,
@idIdentifierSystem=@idIdentSystem
the case is that PRInvestmentObjectList3 is from a product which we have bought and therefore we do not reference directly on this Stored Procedure in our Java Code.
So we have a own made Stored Proc which only calls this SP.
I use the same statement for the query on MS SQL 2000 and MS SQL 2005 I change only the database.
Edit:
If I execute another statement which also retuns a row with many columns in the Management Studio, I get the same error...
The result in the Managment Studio is something like this:
idInvestmentObject tyInvestmentObject ......
34802 1 ...... etc

    The Stored Proc below returns about 1000 rows of result set when a date is passed to the query. In addition to that, there are about 5 rows of data (which is in my excel file) needs to be added to the result set. What is the best possible way?

    Description:
    GET_SKS:
    The GET_SKS procedure is used to generate a number of surrogate keys. It has one input parameter NUM_SKS_IN that specifies the number of keys to generate. The generated keys are returned as a result set.
    So i tried:

  • Multi Row Update set fields disabled

    Hi
    I have a multi-row table and the functionality I need is when the user changes a value in a drop down list it either enables or disables certain fields.
    I have set the depends on value for my fields to the drop down list and checked the clear/refresh box. On each field I have tried
    #{bindings.dropdown.inputValue=='codeA'} and also
    #{row.dropdown=='codeA'}
    Each of these work as when the form is first loaded and the first row selected, the correct fields are disabled. However if I add a new row or change the dropdown, nothing happens.
    Any ideas?

  • Result set looping and arrays??????????

    Hey i have a result set problem in using an applet connected to a database.
    After i have accessed a database, i am using a result set to store these values, then put them into arrays to out put to screen. im using:
    count = 0;
    while(rs.next())
    lecturer[count] = rs.getString("FirstName") + " " + rs.getString("Surname");
    room[count] = rs.getString("Room_No");
    sentence = rs.getString("Subjects");

    The while is there untill there are no more values in the result set. This should work(in theory). But for some reason the while loop goes around and around until 'size' (which is the size for all the arrays) is reached. This is a set value at the start of the applet. But whenever i change it the while loop goes around that many times without fail. this results in duplicate outputs to screen, that i dont want.
    Anyone got any ideas????????????

    This flow doesn't make too much sense to me. Why are you setting an absolute limit on the length of the array, if it should really be determined by the number of rows in your resultset. It sounds like you would be better off using a Collection class, like:
    List names = new ArrayList();
    while(rs.next()) {
      names.add(rs.getString("name"));
    }

    Hi,
    Today I was in discussion with database team.
    One of my dba created tables without any PK.
    I asked why you have not created any PK and indexes.He replied that Index will not work if table holds less than 300 rows.
    It seems strange to me as per my understanding DBMS parse and make plan on the basis on indexes rather number of rows in table.
    what are your thoughts?

    In nutshell it will use index as long as indexed column is in where clause of query and optimizer thinks that full table scan will be slower than index scans.

    I have created a class that uses a result set object. I need to scroll through the result set twice and my code is not working. My first question is:
    Is there a method that will return the length of a result set?
    If there is a length method that will solve my problem. Otherwise from what I understand if I set my result set to have the following properties it will work:
    (ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE,ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY)
    In the API it states that you pass the above as a parameter to the createStatement method. However in our application we do not use the createStatement method. I am wondering is there any other way of setting the result set to have these values?

  • Stored Procedure in Universe - Multi-result set

    I have been trying to get more information on stored procedures as a source for universes. Business Objects designer 3.1 documentation says the following
    Stored procedures with multi-result set
    Example: A stored procedure that returns more than one result set. At design
    time, several tables are created in the universe structure based on the same
    stored procedure.
    Does this mean?
    1. These result sets are shown as multiple tables in designer?
    2. if so, can these result sets be used as regular tables in designer to build joins and contexts.
    I searched the forum for relevant threads before posting but could not find any. I tried posting this thread earlier - internet connection timed out. Please forgive me if this is a duplicate post.

    From the MS docs for "create table"
    Local temporary tables are visible only in the current session;
    A local temporary table created in a stored procedure is dropped automatically when the stored procedure completes. The table can be referenced by any nested stored procedures executed by the stored procedure that created the table. The table cannot be referenced by the process which called the stored procedure that created the table.

    I have an issue where i have created a stored procedure that returns multiple result sets

    SELECT * FROM Addresses
      WHERE Addresses.OrderID = @SalesOrderID AND Addresses.AddressType = 'Billing'
    This is just a quick sample, the actual procedure is a lot more complex but this illustrates the theory.
    When I set the report source in Crystal X to the stored procedure it is only allowing me to add rows from the first result set.
    Is there any way to get around this issue?
    The reason that I would prefer to use a stored procedure to get all the data is simply performance. Without using one big stored procedure I would have to run at least 6 sub reports which is not acceptable because the number of sub reports could grow exponentially depending on the number of items for a particular sales order.
    Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.

    Adam, apologies for the redirect, but it is better to have .NET posts in one place. That way anyone can search the forum for answers. (and I do not have the rights to move posts).
    Anyhow, as long as the report is created, you should be able to pass the datasets as:
    crReportDocument.Database.Tables(0).SetDataSource(dataSet.Tables("NAME_OF_TABLE"))
    Of course alternatively, (not sure if this is possible in your environment) you could create a multi-table ADO .NET dataset and pass that to the report.

    You are calling commit on every row inside your for loop. I would avoid this because it's time consuming.
    Next thing I noticed is that you call the commit directly on the application module bypassing all binding layer stuff.
    Try putting the commit operation into the bindings and call it there. This will give the framework the chance to do its stuff.
    If this does not help you can re execute the query of the VO in question after updating the selected rows.

  • How do you report from a multiple-result-set stored procedure?

    I am writing a report against a canned stored procedure which returns eight result sets.  That is, inside the stored procedure, there are eight SELECT statements which pump to the output. In ADO, you would read the first one, then use SqlDataReader.NextResult to advance the reader to the next one until you have done all eight.
    Q1: Have you ever written a Crystal Report against such a sproc? How?
    Q2: I see that I could pull this data using ADO.NET if I knew this: Have you ever read such a sproc into a dataset? When I drag-and-drop the sproc into the dataset designer, it only makes a table schema for the first result set. I desire to have a table schema for all eight.

  • Performance to fetch result set from stored procedure.

    I read some of related threads, but couldn't find any good suggestions about the performance issue to fetch the result set from a stored procedure.
    Here is my case:
    I have a stored procedure which will return 2,030,000 rows. When I run the select part only in the dbartisan, it takes about 3 minutes, so I know it's not query problem. But when I call the stored procedure in DBArtisan in following way:

    It will take about 100 minutes. When I used DBI fetchrow_array in perl code, it took about same amount of time. However, same stored procedure in sybase without using cursor, and same perl code, it only takes 12 minutes to display all results. We assume oracle has better performance. So what could be the problem here?

    4) The perl code is almost exact same, except the query sql:
    sybase verson: my $sql ="exec DISPLAY_ADDRESS";
    and no need bind the cursor parameter.
    This is batch job, we create a file with all information, and ftp to clients everynight.

  • Getting result set from stored procedures in database controls in weblogic

    I am calling a stored procedure from database control which actually returns a result set
    when i call the stored procedure like
    * @jc:sql statement="call PROC4()"
    ResultSet sampleProc() throws SQLException;
    it gives me exception saying
    "weblogic.jws.control.ControlException: Method sampleProc is DML but does not return void or int"

    What ur trying to do can be conceptually possible through bound values only as there are many rows in table.Read bound values section in dev guide, to understand the fundamentals.
