Question on the Gapless Play feature

I'm setting up my new 80gb and was curious if there was anyway to get iTunes to go through my libray and set up the gapless play. Right now I have to go through each album's and click that it is part of a gapless album.
Any idea on if this can be done automatically. Thanks in advance.

when you installed itunes 7 it should have done it automatically. i don't know of any way otherwise, i haven't played with it much yet.

Hi there.
I listened to podcast there were two things I found that helped me out. Both we're in the podcast app itself.
Firstly change the default sorting order. When looking at the list off episodes a available on your ios device tap on the description part at the top, this will bring up the settings for that podcast (subscribe mark as played etc) scroll to the Bottom and select oldest first. This will mean that if you are listening to the latest download it will stop at the end as there will be no more to play.
Secondly, and useful if listening to older podcasts in the list, you can use the timer to stop once the current episode has ended. To do this when you are in the podcast playback screen slide the "album artwork" up, revealing the playback options and nifty tape playing animation this is where you adjust playback speed and set a timer. The timer has a number of options to set playback to stop after set amount of time. However one of these options is to stop once the current episode you are listening to ends. This can also be current chapter if the podcast you are listening to supports chapters.

does the gapless feature work on every 5g ipod because it doesn't work on mine. when i listen to nirvana on my ipod there are seconds in between songs. when i listen to it on itunes through my ipod it palys gaplessly but not through the ipod alone.

Gapless playback is a feature on iPod 5th Generation models, and iPod Nano Second Generation. There is some confusion at times over generations. For this post, a Fifth Generation iPod, is an iPod that will playback video files.

I do know that gapless playback depends on the source material. If you imported the songs from a CD, have you tried importing them again after installing iTunes 7?

Why has the "resume play" feature never worked on rented on demand movies.

I've had Fios for over 2 years now and have been generally happy, but there is one feature that is driving me and my family crazy! The resume play on rented movies does not work, has never worked, and from reading these forums Verizon has no fix for it. It's been a known issue and it boggles my mind that it can't be fixed. When will there be a fix?

This problem seems to have been known to Verizon for several years. I just completed a Live Chat with a Verizon representative and was told "This should be resolve in few days.". Is this the standard response Verizon has been providing their customers over the past few years when questioned about the problem? When I questioned why it's taken so long, I was told "It was resolved in between but there were few settings that were still suppose to be changed and they are working on it. " If Verizon spent as much time actually fixing the problem as they have in addressing all the inquiries that have been made about the problem, this issue, most likely, could have been resolved a long time ago. Enough excuses. Let's have a solution!

A question on the self-registration feature

I've managed to get the self-registration feature running. I've set that the user can log on immediately after registering. The question is: how do the portal administrators know if someone has self-registered? Is there any type of alert or e-mail facility that has to be set up?

I successfully implemented a data validation on the self registration form for a field named birth date using Java script.
This method will retrieve the value of the birth date from the form.

Question about the Location Services feature

I have the iphone 4A. How can I prevent the Location Services feature from coming on by itself after I turn it off?

Hard to really say without testing.
I would assume since there is a prompt to verify that it holds ids of txt to remove prior to saying yes so shouldn't get new ones.
Can always test.
Start a thread with yourself (eg: mail you txt email addres...for att users it is [email protected]) thus you can start a conversation.
Then try clear option. Wait when it says are you sure. Then send another txt from computer. Wait to hear that it showed up, then confirm clearing.

Why oh why did you remove the continuous play feature from videos!? Please bring it back!!!!!

Please bring back this feature for all the parents out there.

Question about the VI/VO feature on the 5600

I currently have my PS2 hooked up to my computer in order to play. I seem to be having a problem with the video-in/video-out jacks on the card, however. Using the MSI Media Center Delux II software that came with the card, I get a black edge around the screen that is about an inch thick. In order to get the video dislpayed properly I have to stretch the display on my monitor which is ok, but a pain when I have to reset it once I'm done playing. I'm just wondering if this is a problem with the RCA input (I'm using the RCA cable instead of S-Video for right now), the VI/VO jack, or the software. I've tried one other program for the device, but it wasn't any better. Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

That looks like the correct fix to me. The previous version was definitely wrong.
I wanted to add a comment to that article in the community zone, but couldn't find a way to do it event though I was logged in.
There is a comment that the results are in valid for the first 4 iterations. The way to fix that is to divide by the number of iteration that have occurred using the In range and coerce function to limit it to 5.

Now playing feature in windows messenger no longer works with latest iTunes

I recently updated iTunes to version 7.1.1.5 but now the "Now Playing" feature in windows live messenger no longer works. I had no problem before the update. Any suggestions, as i find this rather annoying

I'm a lover of iTunes over Windows Media Player and made the switch approximately a year and a half ago when I bought my iPod. At first I was upset I would lose the "Now Playing" feature of my Messenger and said the pros were far more beneficial. However after a month or two I noticed that suddenly it worked and all was well...
However, Just recently, I believe when I bought an iPod Nano recently and synced it for the first time. It has stopped working and no longer displays no matter what I've tried... now before you go tell me something you'd tell a noobie, Let me first say... Yes, "Show What I'm Listening To" is checked... and I've tried those stupid little work arounds that make no sense such as the option of iTunes not being minimised to the system tray and Messenger being the main window...
Why did it work before and why did it stop, was it the new iPod syncing causing iTunes to malfunction? I've uninstalled and reinstalled both to no fix... Please help!

Okay... I've solved my issue using a work-around. the iTunes code for broadcasting these things definintely needs to be looked into. Its pretty trivial that syncing an iPod that doesn't have the "manual ejection" option ticked could cause a detrimental issue such as this.
As Hinted, to fix the issue. Make sure the iPod is set to be 'manually ejected' once its finished syncing. This means you will effectively have to eject it yourself using iTunes once you've synced it.
The steps I did was...
*1. Set iPod to be 'manually ejected' once synced and hit apply.*
*2. Sync iPod... again, for good measure.*
*3. Restart the computer.*
*4. Start iTunes with the iPod still connected, Sync it again.*
*5. Open Windows Live Messenger and make sure 'show what im listening to' is ticked.*
*6. Play a song in iTunes and see if it worked.*
*Please post if this helped you.* Im sure a few of those steps like re-syncing aren't neccesary, then again it's "Apple" iTunes so it's best to be safe then sorry.

How does the LCM rollback feature work in theory?
Let's say
1. I've Webi report 'x' in QA system
2. I promote a modified version of webi report 'x' from DEV to QA using LCM. So now I've 'x1' in QA.
3. I "rollback" this promotion job in LCM. Which means I've get back 'x' in QA system.
So does this mean that LCM kept a "backup" copy of 'x' in QA (CMS+filestore file backup) before overwriting with the promoted 'x1' from DEV?
If yes, does it clear the 'x' anytime from QA? (maybe after second iteration of 'x2'?)

Gapless Play - does this modify the files?

I've noticed whenever I open iTunes7 now it starts sorting through all the files for some gapless play mombo jumbo....what is this? does it modifie the files at all? please help....Cheerz

Apple, please upgrade iTunes 7 and include the ability to disable gapless playback completely for those of us who edit our wavs before saving to MP3. I also find absolutely no use for album art and would like to be able to COMPLETELY disable iTunes from searching for art. Merely choosing "no art" on set up did not do the trick.
If you're going to glut and idiot-proof your products with features of this kind (a la Microsoft), please give those of us that don't want them an easy and complete way to opt out and still use the product for its main purpose (for me) which is to manage files on iPod.
