When you click on Settings which option is selected?
Always convert - this will always set the files to the format you choose.<
Fit to Muvo (Zen) - this will only convert the files when they wouldn't normally fit onto your player such as if you tried to fit 2.5GB of files onto a 2GB player.<

  • A Few Questions About Zen MX . . .

I bought a Sandisk Sansa Fuze in the summer of 2008, and have had it replaced twice due to it failing completely. So, I'm on my third, and I considered the Zen MX. So, I have a few questions . . .
    1. Why is it cheaper than the Zen?
    2. Is it stable and not glitchy?
    3. Will it last a long time? You know, 60 years or so (I'm kidding, although that would be nice.)
    4. This one's not really inportant, but it would be nice - Does it have gapless playback?
I would appriciate these questions answered.

Has fewer compatible codecsCan only transfer videos coverted with the Creative software that come on the install cd.,Don't know how long it will last. the type of battery tends to go for about 3yrs.From the posts I see can behave badlymostly due to the software. No gapless playback. No Creative player has that. If I were wanting a player like it I would get the original ZEN. In my opinoin the best video/music player Creative has ever made is the Zen VM. You can still find them on Ebay or whenever Creative puts up the Refurbished one. I have several. Many I have purchased & rehab myself.(very easy to do) You can install larger dri'ves( I have a 40GB) there is a 80GB slim dri've that fits. This seller has refurbed players & gives a warranty.http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Gordons-...e__W0QQ_armrsZ

  • A few questions about zen to

Hi, I would like to know some little things abot the zen touche's menu options.
When you are in the main menu: you select music library-->artists--> u2 (for example, it could be any artist)- do you have the option to see all the tracks of the artist, such as an option VIEW ALL , or you have to go to each album of the artist and explore the albums one by one to find a title. When yes, can you go back to the albums via an option VIEW ALBUMS?
Second, when you listening to a title, do you have the option to see all the albums of the artist via an otion LOOK UP ARTIST or may be VIEW ALBUMS, or you have to go to the options menu and select VIEW INFO and then may be LOOK ALBUMS.
I am asking these questions because These very convenient options are on the ZEN MICRO. I am getting soon a TOUCH and I would like to have those on the TOUCH too.
And one last thing: I am almost sure about it, but how can you find a track on the player whwn I do not know the firts letter of the name of the track but I know some other parts or words or preposition in the name of the track. This feasture is called FIND or SEARCH KEYWORD on the MICRO, but I think it is not on the TOUCH.
    Thank you for your Information.

when you are using the player itself the only search feature is to go to the first letter of the song you know. As for on the computer you can probably search the way that you want to. If I were you I would just try to remember the names of the songs or the artist.
    Good Luck

  • Power problems and a question about Zen support respo

I have a Zen Micro 8gb player and unfortunately I can now be added to the list of users with Battery/charging issues. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps I can find here and none resolved my problem. Resetting does not help, nor does charging via USB/AC Adapter, I've tried switching adapters, etc. I've never had this issue before.
The problem started a few days ago when I plugged my Zen in like normal to charge - it was completely dead - and after several few hours of charging, I was still unable to turn my device on. I plug the charger in and the device does recognize it, it powers on and I get the blue light and "Creative" logo on the screen. Then the little battery icon flashes between the green "charging" icon and the red "empty battery" icon. It will go on like this for hours. Normally it would only take an hour or two to charge but now I can leave it charging for an entire day then it goes dead right after I unplug it.
My question is - based on user experience here - whether it's probably my battery or my device that is defecti've. This was a gift and I'm sure it is out of warranty, not that I'd be able to get the receipt even if it was. I've already emailed customer care. I'm just wondering what people's general overall experience has been with support and if it's even worth trying to go through the support channels to get it fixed. Thanks in advance.
    Kristal?

I am having the same problems....only I can't even get mine to come on. I have only had this thing for like 5 months.....if I would have known I was gonna have this many problems.... I would have went with another brand. And it would really help if I could get someone to give me a straight answer when I call! I am SOSOSO irritated!!

  • Few questions on zen mi

so i got my micro ( 5bg) less than a week ago, i am pretty happy with the player itself. however i have some questions, and being that i'm not a computer genius, i was hoping u could answer with easy vocabulary so i could understand
) i have a pc with windowws 98SE, which is clearly stated usable with the micro on the box and website. so, i install everything, put a cd in, mediascource organizer comes up, i get info for the cd, and on the list of items to choose from all the way to the right of the two arrows, i click zen micro ( which was already plugged in with the included usb 2.0 and my computer has no problem recognizing the micro) and then i click the arrow pointing right to rip the cd to the micro ( i had already gone into settings and picked the copy format of mp3-sterio at 28 kbps). then an error message comes up saying that "this CDROM does not allow audio ripping, try the recording function." but the recording function records a song ( after playing through the whole thing ) but plays back absolutly nothing. so then i try my windows media player 9. For some reason when i go into settings, it lets me choose all the formats that wmp can play ( including mp3) but then when i go to choose the format to copy at, it only allows me to choose wma ( or wma at variable bit rate), so i choose wma at 28 kbps, and then when i go to copy a song from a cd ( i have to play the WHOLE song through) it copies it but plays nothing back. so i can't put music onto the micro from my home computer So then i go to my moms work computer ( also windows 98SE ) over the weekend, go through the same process om mediascource organizer, but get the same error saying "this CDROM does not support audio ripping", but my mom clearly says she's able to burn cds there for her work using <SPAN class=EmailStyle5><FONT face=Arial color=navy size=2><SPAN>Adaptec easy CD creator. so then i try her wmp and after somehow changing a setting to allow audio playback ( or something:smileyindifferent it allows me to copy a whole cd ( only at wma like my comp and only by listening to the WHOLE). does anyone know what's going on and if its right to get those errors even though i have 98SE. any help, explanations, or suggestions would be appreciated.
    <SPAN class=EmailStyle5><SPAN>
<SPAN class=EmailStyle5><SPAN>2) we are getting a new computer which should arri've in a couple days. it is a Dell Demension 2400 Intel CELERON Processor ( 2.4 ghz, 256mb, 80 gb harddri've). even though it is not a PENTIUM like the micro requires, will it still work. Also, with the the information that i gave on this computer, does it sound like ( if it does work at all) that the micro will run easy, and fast, and i'll be able to transfer music cds to it quickly and easily.
    <SPAN class=EmailStyle5><SPAN>
    <SPAN class=EmailStyle5><SPAN>THANK U SO MUCH -hope i'm not being a burden

Some very old cdrom does not support audio cd ripping maybe you have those. Anyway, since you are getting an new system already. I'm sure it will work fine in that system.

  • Some questions on Zen Tou

Hi all! I will be getting a Zen Touch a few days from now but I have a few questions.
.) Can I have the Zen hooked up to my PC via USB transfering music and have it plugged into a power outlet at the same time? The reason I ask this is because I have heard from people that transfering files tends to take a toll on the battery.
2.) Also I read about after months of use it is best to use the Clean Up tool on the Zen's rescue mode, will this damage my collection at all?

.) Yes. There is a seperate power cable and USB cable. Plugging it in to mains power is actually recommended while transferring files or music.
2.) No, 'Clean up' will not damage your collection. Consider it the 'Scan disk' on your computer; it checks for errors and damaged files and fixes the problems.

  • Some questions on Zen Visio

    Hi
I'm considering to buy Creative's Zen Vision:M. Before that however, I've some questions.
    Power Adapter
. Does it come bundled with the power adapter? If not, how much does it cost. The website doesn't seem to state this.
    Battery Life
    2. It's rated to have a battery life of up to 4 hrs playtime (MP3, 28kbps, 4mins/ song)and up to 8 hrs playtime (WMA, 64kbps, 4mins/ song). Does it mean then that converting all my music to MP3 will be best? Since it allows me to play better quality music at a high bit rate and consumes less battery.
    FM Recording
    3. How can I use this player to record FM? Do I need an additional devices. Or can I use this player to record directly from the FM?
    4. Also, can I pause the FM recording and voice recording and restart it again after a while?
    5. Can I schedule the FM recorder to start recording at a scheduled time?
    Video Watching
    6. Can I fast forward or rewind my videos to a specific scene?
    7. Lastly, is watching videos on the zen vision: m straining on the eyes? let's say if you watch it for or 2 hours.
    Thanks.

    Hi
My zen vision:m didnt come with a power adaptor but just look at the website when buying-they should say if it comes with one or not, also generally i found when buying mine that without it costs around ?60 and with ?90 that should give you an indication.
Cant help you with the battery life though except that i've never had a problem with mine (lasts a good few days anyway)
Fm recording (although i've only used it once) is great, you dont need any additional devices and i think it lasts a maximum of 0hours. I havent tried pausing recording but i think you can. I dont think you can schedule it (i may be wrong though)
Videos can be fast frwarded, you can set a playback speed and change the size to fit the screen which means you can watch a video comfortably on it. Although i havent tried watching a full length film on it i dont think it would hurt your eyes but like i say i havent tried!
hope that helped (at least a bit)

  • Some quick questions about Zen Microph

    Hello,
I just received my Zen 8GB Microphoto today after recently purchasing it and I love it so far, but I have a couple questions.
. The pdf manual that came with the installation disc makes it clear that you shouldn't jog with the Zen Micro since continuous shocks aren't good for it. This is a bit of a shock (no pun intended) for me since I planned to use this quite a bit while running, and I know that micro-dri've MP3 players are susceptible to shock which results in skipping, but this seems a bit extreme. Is this statement just "extra-precautionary" so Creative can say to you, "I told you so" just in case it breaks, or has anyone actually have one of these things break pretty quickly from jogging with it's
    2. This might be a stupid question but according again to the pdf manual you have to be using the supplied headphones to scan for radio stations as well as recording radio stations while listening to them, but nothing was mentioned about simply listening to FM radio. Will I be able to use the FM radio feature without using the headphones that came with my Zen Photo. I'd test but I haven't had a lot of time to mess with it yet and it's still charging, but I would really hate to have to not use my Shure E3cs in order to be able to use the FM radio.

  • Questions Regarding Zen Mi

I've a few questions, hopefully someone is able to answer them?
    0. I saw my friend's iPod whenever he connects his device to his computer, there will be a small icon on the lower right corner of the system tray indicating the device is plugged in, and that whenever he wanted to remove the device, he will have to click on that icon and then click "stop" etc to fully stop the device so he can safely disconnect his iPod from the computer, how come my Zen Micro don't have this? Is there a way to activate this thing?
    02. How do you usually disconnect the Zen Micro safely from your computer after transferring songs and etc?
    Thanks

I've disabled automatic docking on my computer and only use Zen Micro Media Expolorer for organizing my Zen Micro.
If I want to dock the Zen Micro, I plug it into the USB cable, turn it on and once it's fully booted, open ZMME.
The Zen then docks and I can transfer files on the Zen.
Once I'm done, I shut down ZMME and wait until the icons show that it is finished transferring files and rebuilding the library. Then I unplug it unless I want to continue charging.

  • Few questions about Zen V p

okay i just got this mp3 player and have a few questions...
    - where is the "selected music" section, i cant find the folder.
    - how do you get the music to transfer onto your player in track order instead of abc order.

I tried the selected music folder. i pressed down in now playing (held it down) and nothing happened. its just frustrating to find all the music in the selected folder when it doesnt have a list of playists or albums. i used to have a jukebox zen extra so im used to their selected music folder...is that the same type of folder on this player?
i did rip all my cds and they go in abc order when i rip them. i was wondering if there is an option on the creative organizer that makes them transfer in track number order.
    also another question...
how do you edit the album art that shows up in the "now playing" section? i found that many albums dont have album art (even though they did on windows media player) or that some had album art of the wrong cd. so is there any way to correct these mistakes?

  • Short question about Zen Mi

Is it possible to display my Mp3's in a folder structure with the Zen Micro
so that i can chose songs or albums like in Windows Explorer?

Yes, use Creative Media Source Organizer, you can sort by Album, Artist, Genre, etc. Also you can browse in Windows Explorer if that works better for you.

  • Video on ZEN V Plu

    Hi All,
    new member here..
I just bought a 2GB Zen V Plus. Love it so far. Sound is good and size is great.. My only disappointment comes from the video playback. The video conversion method Creative is using for the Zen V+ end up with HUGE files sizes! Much bigger than the original video file size. I did a few experiments and that's what I found:
    - Apparently .AVI files results in small(er) files after conversion. Still, the converted file size is no where near in size than the original
    - It happened many times that the converter fails to convert and/or transfer the video files to the device. It just sits there and times out with a message saying that "Unsuccessful Conversion/Transfer" No other reasons are given!!
-I converted a few .AVI files of original size about 9-20MB (0 or so minutes), the output file was about 220MB in size!! That's more than 0 times larger? WHY!!
You would imagine that a device with a small screen (28 pixel sq.) and slow refresh rate will need only smaller files to play, but it is not the case with the V Plus..
I was wondering if anyone has experimented with 3rd party converters that gives a video format playable on the V Plus? Or if there's anyway to get a reasonable file size out of the Creative converter?
Otherwise, it is a nice player and I like it so far.
Ah, forgot to ask if Games can be played on it's The joystick is kind of appealing, and will work great with games I suppose..
    Cheers,
    Ahmed

Yeah...prolly about GB give or take?a little...when i put youtube on my zen v plus (2GB) i just put about 2 episodes of anime on which is about an hour..so My best guess is slightly under a GB.And I have never tried to put a dvd on it...prolly never will try...but the only thing i can say to that is you should probably find an "online video converter" just serch google or use vixy.net or convertdirect.com?just DONT download converters...they're just some big lie. ^_^

<SPAN>Alright, I?ve had my 5 GB Zen micro for about a month now and absolutely love it. However, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help me with some issues that I?m having.

<SPAN><SPAN>)<SPAN> <SPAN>Last week I went to my cousin's house, and I brought my micro, planning to transfer some of his cds to it, since I have pfs firmware 2..02 that allows you to use your micro with any computer with wmp 0 and service pack 2 ( which he does have) without drivers or software.<SPAN> I tried so many things, including changing my micro to removable disk, then dragging his music to it through explorer, but I was unable to view the songs and play them on my micro. If anyone knows away around this, please tell me.

Strange. I only tried the v2 firmware briefly, and didn't try moving between PCs with it. It could of course indicate a problem with Windows or WMP on the other PC. Hard to say.
also i know for a fact that mediascource allows for a 2 way synch, so i might use that. however, i like wmp0's interface more, so i was wondering, if i ever put music from the micro into mediasource, will i somehow be able to put those songs into wmp0?
I'm sure that WMP can have tracks in its library, irrespecti've of where they are.
also could someone maybe tell me what DRM means, and also just tell me how they put other people's music on the micro without drivers.
    DRM = Digital Rights Management
I think all the methods of putting music on the player have been covered, I can't think of any other ways.

  • Playlist Shuffle question - M Zen M: 3

Hi - have a question on playlists and shuffling them. I have several playlists ranging from around 75 to 500 songs. I tend to play them in shuffle mode, and have noticed that some songs get played a lot, and some almost never. I assume that there is some sort of glitch in the randomizer that determines shuffle order that makes it not truly random - I've seen that before. So I get that this is hard to fix, so I'd like to fix it myself by simply loading a playlist on my computer and shuffling the order of the playlist, then saving it. I figure that the randomizer will still have the same glitch, but the playlist order will be different, so I'll get different songs played often. So I can manage the list this way every time I get bored with the sequence. I've used this technique before with another player I had (Archos Jukebox) and it works fine. Problem is that when I load the playlist on my computer it will only allow me to change the position of track at a time (even if its multiple tracks, its a block at a time). I'd like even to sort them in alphabetical or size or artist or duration sequence, since I think that would solve my problem, but it doesnt seem like this is an option. Any ideas? Thanks?Colin

    Anyone?

  • Computer won't recognize Zen V plu

The same thing happened about a month ago, the computer won't recognize my 2gb zen v plus.. Then I just reinstalled the programs, and everything was normal. It recharges my player normally, but I can't add any songs, videos, pictures etc. The player hasn't fallen down or anything. It's about 6 months old (bought in October. When I open My Computer, there isn't even a removable disc or sth. So, could anyone give me some advise?

When I purchased my Sleek Photo last spring, I had the exact same problem. My PC via Windows Update was up to date, and I knew it wasn't my hardware, USB drivers, etc. as I have another player (a Rio) that worked fine. I found this thread, and followed what the poster <EM>DM</EM> had said. This worked perfectly, make sure you follow the directions, and see if your PC is compatable with DM's fix. I hope this hel
