Question on ZMCR process

Hi,
I am configuring Request for change on a SolMan 7.1 SPS 10 system. I have a question regarding the RFC flow.
Once the change request is created --> CAB approved --> change manager hands over for development then change document is created.
When I check the urgent change document which is created status. I don't see the developer, Tester and IT operator partner functions populated.
I am not clear once the change document is created how would the developer get notified as the developer partner function is blank on the urgent change document created from change request.
Attached is the screen shot of the urgent change document created from RFC.
Please suggest.

Hi Junaid,
Once the change document gets created, the Change Manager has to manually enter the developer, tester and IT Operator.
You can add the conditions in your action so that once the status is 'Created' and when saved, an email would be triggerred to the developer.

Question on App Process and Java script performance

I have quick question regarding performance of Application process and Javascript.
I'm having OnDemand Application process, which fetches data from db and thru javascript
in page, i'm invoking the application process.
My question is :
If I did not render a page say for 10 mins, and i'm changing field values in my tab report.
Consider i'm having a huge record in my tab report and changing certain updatable column value for all records.
Once i finsished updating the field value (before hitting submit). The same field might have been updated by someother user.
If i render the page, Would it shows data as per current session value or data same as 10 mins before?
Bit confused on this.
Your views on this would be highly appreciated!!

I'm not sure this is related to performance. I think this is more of a lost update question. If you're using a standard Tabular Form, APEX will check the value of that data in the database to see if it's changed since you opened it. If so, it means someone else edited the data then saved it since you opened the page. APEX will return an error. At that point, the user would have to reload the whole page. If you expect collisions and the fields are big enough that it will take a person a long time to edit, I would strongly suggest NOT using Tabular Forms. If you're only editing one row at a time, the chance of collision between you and another users is substantially less than if you were both editing 15 rows at a time. Also, if there is a collision, you only have to reload one record, not a whole set of them.

DVDSP preset question with batch processing.

I hope someone can help.
When I drag my files that I want to batch process, where I can
choose the output, for example DVD HD, etc.
These presets have different times with them for video, like 120, 190, or even 30.
My question is, what is the difference between them? Does any of them produce better quality of the video?
My video files are .avi files and run about 30 minutes.
Also, does it matter which I choose as far as HD DVD, DVD best quality, etc., if these are already .avi files or just choose DVD HD and have the best quality possible?

About the numbers, the 30, 120, 190, etc. What do
those numbers mean?
Are they minutes? And if they are minutes, does that
mean it goes by how a regular dvd has minutes on it
or does it go by how long each file is, or total size
of project?
What those numbers mean are the amount of material that will fit on a DVD-5 based on the encoding settings, so in other words if you choose 120 it means that about 2 Hrs of running time of video will fit on the DVD encoded at that rate. Normal and high quality are whether it is a one pass or two pass
I am still a little confused.
I have 10 .avi files. Each one is about 30 minutes
long and is about 300mb.
I am unsure on what video setting or settings to use
that will allow me to have at least the same quality
as the files already are.
Encoding will reduce the quality, sometimes you may notice, other times not, but you have about 6 hours worth of material there. Depedning on what it is you can make a DVD-9, but unless it is very low motion probably not a DVD-5 (Also 300 Megs for 30 minutes of material (and I have not looked at new avi codecs recently) sounds like the material is already compressed heavily
To give you a rough idea, DV which is what comes from many consumer cameras with firewire, is compressed at a rate of about 5:1 already, and 9 minutes 20 seconds is just shy of 2 Gigs, so 30 minutes would be in the area of 6 Gigs of DV (or about 18 times the size of your files)
i have already done the audio portion of each file so
the video portions are all I need to do now.
Best thing to do is play with the settings, test small sections where there is less motion and more motion. In general 2-Pass is going to provide you with better results than one pass

Question on parallel processing using the STARTING NEW TASK keyword

I have the following code in a program on my development system:
call function 'FUNCTION_NAME'
    starting new task ld_taskname
    performing collect_output on end of task
      exporting
        pd_param1       = ld_param1
      tables
        pt_packet       = lt_packet.
You'll notice in the code above I left out the following part of the function call:
DESTINATION IN GROUP group
In my one-server development system the topmost code executes fine, but I'm getting a 'REMOTE FUNCTION CALL ERROR' when I execute this in a multi-server Q&A system.
My question: Is the missing 'DESTINATION' keyword required in order for this technique to work in a multi-server environment or is it optional keyword? I made the assumption that since it worked in my development environment that without the 'DESTINATION' addition the system simply used the current logged on system to start the new processes.

Just take F1 help on CALL FUNCTION key word and go to the variant
CALL FUNCTION func STARTING NEW TASK task
              [DESTINATION {dest|{IN GROUP {group|DEFAULT}}}]
              parameter_list
              [{PERFORMING subr}|{CALLING meth} ON END OF TASK].
This gives you very clear information about this Key word.

Question regarding Inbound process codes

When I look into WE64 (inbound process codes), I can see that some messages have only the following process codes:
- ABI_AIDN_IN
- ED00
- ED00_XML
- ED08
Can someone please tell me exactly what each of these process codes does? I can find very little information (and none of it helpful) about these process codes.

Anji - thanks for your reply.
I've looked in WE42, and can see the entries. This still does not give me any additional information about how these process codes work. For example, I know that TXT1 is a process code tied to a workflow task that will process a TXTRAW01/02 idoc. The TXT1 process code is tied only to that IDOC. However, the process codes listed in my original message are tied to all inbound idocs.
Hence my original question, what exactly do these process codes do?

Question on unlock process for iPhone 4

Hello,
I have completed my 2-year contract agreement with AT&T and received the instructions for unlocking my iPhone 4.
My question: My iPhone is synced. Now I should do a full backup and restore of the iPhone via iTunes, but will this (1) keep all my current apps and (2) affect my current settings, specifically will I need to re-adjust all my individual notifications (alert style, badge app icon, sounds, view in lock screen)? This would be a tremendous chore for me as I currently have 176 applications on my mobile.

Question on BPEL Process Performance

We have a BPEL process reading the datafile through file adapter and upserting into DB using DB Adapter. Our requirement is
If there are 10 records to process and two records (record 5 and 9) fail while inserting/updating for some reason(i.e data type mismatch, column length mismatch etc..), at the end of the process you should see 8 records in the destination table and two records in error table.
I know there are solutions of this :
*1) Multiple calls to DB:* Use a While loop in a BPEL process and Invoke DB adapter for each record and use exception handling(Catch all block).
*2) Invoke Store Procedure:* to prevent multiple calls to DB, create a stored proc on DB side to iterate and insert the records and the stored proc should also return the IDs of failed records back as error response so that you can insert those failed records to a log table or in log files.
Can you suggest which solution is best in terms of performance and why ??
Also we need to perform some business validation (i.e NOT NULL check, date format check etc..), Where should we perform this.. at DB level or BPEL process level?? and why..

BPEL is a slow performer.
Always call a stored procedure to do complex data processings.
Hence go with the second approach.
Error records:
If your going to log errors in the same database, insert the error details direcly into the error table. Dont go back to BPEL.
Application specific validations should be handled in the application itself.

we need an image processing utility for our web processing.
requirements are as described below:
we have a e commerce based application where we need to display product images which we are currently displaying successfully.
now we have to provide user with image processing functionality like user can zoom image can flip image can rotate image.
what we want like when user click on zoom we can generate a dynamic image of that region based on a single source of image and can provide zooming functionality.
more over company requirements is to go for only open source solution [:-)]
we tried some open source solutions but due to the in house E-Commerce framework constraints we not able to integrate them,.
can any one point me to any open source java based library so that we can use that to provide solution or do we need some other approach.

An "impression" doesn't prove much unfortunately, so I'd recommend getting friendly with the debugger to see what's really going on.

Question about documenting process maps and form object properties

Does the new version of Workbench have a tool that allows us to print a report showing the properties of the object used in a form template or process map? For example... showing all of the properties like fonts, size, patterns, defaults, whether or not a field is required, etc...? I am also checking to see if this capability has been added to Workbench for Process Maps?

As my understand, an user process is a piece of software that can connect to an oracle server. You (the user) can start a piece of this kind of software, then connect to oracle. If so, why Oracle creates a user process to run the user's application?

This text is trying to say that the application starts a client process that can connect to the database. The database manages server processes and background processes; the application runs the client process.

Question on Parallel Processing in ABAP

Hi Experts,
I am trying to process my records using Parallel Processing concept making calls to Remote Function Module.
So, in simple terms it would look as shown below
loop.
call function <rfc_module> creating new task with <taskname>
endloop.
1. In the above scenario say it created 5 tasks.
2. If one of the tasks have been failed because of timeout error then what happens to that task.
In the below link it says that the dialog work proces can run only for 300 seconds.

Question regarding multi processes in ABAP

We have written a ATC / Checkman Check Implementation.
As we know the ATC / Checkman framework checks objects in object bundle of 50.
Inside the check implementation we have to make a remote HTTP Call. That will be valid for all n instances.
So the number n is determined by total number of objects / 50.
Question
In this multithreaded scenario how can we introduce a static variable which will be thread safe (making sure no two parallel threads write to this at a same time)
Any suggestions / help.

Question on Parallel Processing

Hello Guy's . We would like to run more one payment run FPY1 simultaneously for different programs. However the system locks the relevant BP or CA during this process, hence we cannot run more than one payment run at a time. This causes a lot of delay as we have to wait for each payment run to finish. Is there a way where we can run more than one FYP1 or FPMA at a time. Will fpscheduler cater this. I think there should be a way where you can do it as PSCD is designed to process huge volume of data for different activities. Please advise.

Three security questions are not processed

I am prompted to enter three security questions upon which I am not allowed to proceed because my year of birth is wrong. Yet nowhere in the system is there a place to write in or correct year of birth. How do I fix this?

I am having the same problem. I know I have never answered any security questions in the past. They came out of nowhere when I got another Apple device. I called tech support and they were not helpful at all. I can still download paid apps to iTunes on my computer and transfer them, but I cannot download apps directly to my device.
By the way, I think this came about because of the Wired tech writer that was hacked when someone hijacked his apple account, among other things, by simply calling up Apple and having the password reset.
Anyway, if you find a way to resolve the security questions issue, I would love to hear the answer.
