Question/Problem with SystemPreferences since updating to 10.4.3
Since update there is no printing/Faxing selection in System Preferences Pane. It simply isn't there to select. Is there a work around or Utility to get it back? Printer installation
shows up as selected, but I would like to confirm it as a system wide selection. Thanks to any suggestions Leighla
Go to www.versiontracker.com and download Pacifist. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the Print & Fax preference pane from the file archive on the Tiger DVD, and install it in the /System/Library/Preference Panes/ folder.
Download and install the 10.4.3 Combo Updater. This time before running the installer do the following:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Now reinstall the 10.4.3 Combo Updater.

Problems with Mail since update Yosemite
Hello
I have a MacBook Pro 13" from approx. Dec. 2010.
I made last weekend the update to Yosemite. Since then the Mail.app does not work correct anymore. I can send mails and I can get mails from my webmail server if Mail.app is open. When I start Mail.app new I can not get the incoming mails from the webmail server. Mail.app does not download the incoming mails arrived in the meantime as the Mail.app was closed from the webmail server. I tried to create the mail account new but that did not work. I can not create a new mail account either.
Now I tried to create a new main account and I installed one of my mail account. there. In this new main account the mail.app is working well again and got all mails downloaded.
So it looks that during the update of Yosemite my existing main account got an error.
I could work now on the new account. But how can I bring all adjustments and data's out of the existing account into the new account? Is this possible to do?
Or how can I fix the existing account that has an error? Do I have to go back to Mavericks again? And how can I go back to mavericks like it was before the update to Yosemite?
Hope I can get some answers that would help me in this case.
Thank's in advance!
RetoHere is my list of problems with Mail since upgrading to Yosemite (all was working just fine before) ...
[MacBook Pro, Retina 13", late 2013, 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB, 500GB running OS X Yosemite 10.10]
Mail is very slow (seems to be a memory leak?)
Read emails not being marked as read (sporadic - sometimes it works just fine)
Deleted emails not being deleted (sporadic - sometimes it works just fine)
When replying to a message, does not close original message (sporadic - sometimes it works just fine)
When dragging a message to a folder cannot scroll up (can scroll down)
Message is sometimes blank (but the same message opened fine previously or later)
Message is sometimes one line of text and it is not possible to easily scroll horizontally to read the message (two finger side swipe on trackpad works but not Magic Mouse ... easiest way to read emails is to forward or reply)
Calendar invite messages not closing or being deleted when invite RSVP is completed
I should roll back my OS but this is a real hassle so I am hoping for Apple to submit an update to Yosemite or Mail & Calendar.
Has anyone else had any of the above problems? Anyone got any temp solutions until updates come from Apple? Perhaps changing settings can resolve some of the above issues - I have tried but failed. -
Since i update with 10.4.9, I observe some problems with sound that I don't observe with 10.4.7 on an old partition:
1. no more sound when opening excel file with office
2. no more sound with files .rm opened with realplayer
3. no more sound with files .wmv opened with lecteur windows media player.
Ths files are opened normally with 10.4.7 that I conserved on an other partition.Welcome to Apple Discussion!
This is a well known bug with the optical audio based Macs with a very simple fix:

Hopefully that's the one you encountered. -
Problem with FCP since update to 10.0.6
I'm up to date on Mac OS X and FCP, but since updating to FCP 10.0.6 switching events causes it freeze.
Jwrbloom wrote:
Trashing my preferences???
Corrupt preference files are the cause of many many problems in FCP X. If that is the cause of your problem, then deleting preferences will solve it; otherwise it will at least do no harm.
(In case you don't know, most applications keep your preference settings in little files with .plist extension, in a "Preferences" folder. You usually don't notice and may not care about it unless they become corrupted and then your software may malfunction - as is the case here)
Pref Manager, which I mentioned in the previous post, is a free software which can delete (and optionally backup and restore, in case you want to) these .plist files, without you going to look for them in the Finder.
Deleting preferences does NOT affect your events and projects - it does not touch them. So it is innocuous and usually the first thing to try when FCP X misbehaves.
Jakob's post may well be on to something, especially if the problem happens with some events and not others.
If deleting preferences does not solve the problem, then you may have to delete some folders in the Finder. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. I suggest you delete preferences and report back. -

Problems with finder since updating to 10.9
Hi,
Since updating My Macbook Pro to 10.9 Mavericks I can't copy files to my external. It stops, they disapear, it's just not working as it has for Lion & Mountain Lion. Any advice?
Thanks,
JFor some strange reason the accents issue seemed to be resolved before I followed your suggestions; no idea why! Tried your tips and yes, the special characters are there when I go to Edit>Special Characters, but no change after the False/True process. Still not in the menu bar even though it's ticked under Keyboard preferences. GotBattery, Input Source Date etc etc, but not the Keyboard or Characters still.

Problem with crashing since update to Yosemite 10.10.2
I have a Macbook Pro (15inch, Mid 2009) that has been trucking along fine for years. I upgraded the RAM from 4GB to 8GB about a year ago, no issues on that front. I then updated the OS from Mavericks to Yosemite not to long ago and began to experience an unstoppable loop of crashing that would at most get me as far as to the desktop for a few minutes. I ran Recover HD and it told me my hard drive had a bad volume in it and that it was unrepairable, that I would have to reformat it completely, luckily I have a Time Machine backup of the day just before this began to happen. I figured at worst the hard drive was old and that I might as well take the opportunity to upgrade to an SSD. So I did just that, went from the stock 500GB Western Digital drive to a Intel 256 SSD, installation was no sweat. The process afterwards when installing a fresh clean OS was the painful part as I ran into another issue where "Essentials.pkg" error was preventing me from completing the reinstall of Mavericks/Yosemite, the problem as far as I could tell was that it supposedly did not like my aftermarket 8GB ram. Since I had no back up of my old Apple OEM Memory (misplaced it somewhere) I ended up having to borrow my friends Macbook Pro and hot swap his stock memory temporarily into my Macbook to just complete a fresh install of the OS. Luckily I was able to get everything back up and running and the SSD made my Macbook Pro incredibly fast, Time Machine worked flawlessly everything back to normal like it never happened.
Until today, Just a few days after this whole fiasco, I began to experience the same issue again. The symptoms would start with having Chrome loaded up and running, Chrome would begin to crash, unable to show a webpage no matter how many times I refreshed or went to another website, a minute or two later of this happening and then my OS would completely crash and it would give me that splash screen that your computer has been restarted unexpectedly to continue press any button etc...
I have the report listed below, this is the most recent crash report that just happened now, since I have no idea how to read it I was hoping for some help here to maybe figure out what exactly is going on. I don't have the crash reports from before the whole fiasco happened, I can only imagine it is the same in nature.

Problems with itunes since updat to 11.1.4
ever since Itunes upgraded to 11.1.4 I have not been able to use it . it keeps telling me that MediaAccessary.DLL is missing i've tried everything. oi've removes all itunes and apple files about 30 times in the last 2 weeks
Hello dmartins1977,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update. I recommend following the steps below:
1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then, restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components, may have unintended affects. If you encounter an error while uninstalling, try repairing the affected component:
2. Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalledIn most cases, removing iTunes and its related components from the Control Panel will remove all supporting files belonging to those programs. To fully resolve these issues, manually remove any remaining iTunes-related folders listed below. On 32-bit and 64-bit systems:On 64-bit systems:
3. Reboot your computer.
4. Download the iTunes installer. When prompted to select what you want to do, choose to save it to your computer.
5. Install iTunes.
Right click on iTunesSetup or iTunes64Setup.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: Select the 'Run as administrator' option.
Windows XP: Select the Open option.
Finish installing iTunes.
I understand that you have already uninstalled iTunes, but it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.

Hello,
since the update to 10.1.0.273 my bluetooth connection with handsfree in my car doesn't work properly anymore.
A new pairing with the handsfree was also unsuccessful.
With Software 10.0.10.90 all functions works correct.
Then I tried to connect to my notebook and my nokia lumia first time.
Pairing initially was OK, but then the error message "Es ist kein Netz zur Verbindung verfügbar. Sie können Dateien mit diesem Gerät über andere Anwendungen freigeben."!
What does this mean???
Can anybody help me?
Solved!
Go to Solution. Some feedback from blackberry would be good. I don't want to have to change to an iPhone if possible

Problems with Office since update
I have a macbook pro (purchased mid 2010) and using MS Office for Mac. Since I have updated to Lion, whenever I download excel sheets from my email and open them, it creates a temporary file that I cannot delete. On restarting the OS, these files disappear. Added to the problem is that a temp file will be created for every excel sheet I download and open and is cluttering my desktop. I any1 has any suggestions, pls let me know.
The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

Problem with samba since update
well, im not 100% sure, but im pretty sure this is a result of the last update
basically, i can't seem to browse samba shares anymore, sort of, its half and half.
i first noticed the problem last friday ish or so when i went to show a friend something from my xbox running xbmc, and realized i could not access the smb share, which happens sometimes, i usually have to renew the ip on my desktop and restart the samba deamon. but it didn't work this time. i had to go out for the rest of the weekend, just got home not long ago, figured id toy around, and im getting no where
now im noticing that i cant browse my work group at all from my desktop running the service, or my xbox. but my brother says he can access everything fine from his machine, thats running windows.
i don't know, seems wierd to me, and i dont know what to dook, well, i think whatever configuration file i had before was missing something the newer version wanted.
i used gsamba to make a new configuration. now i can see my workgroup, can't browse my machine. heres the config files, can someone tell me whats wrong here? or is there something i can cut out?

iphone 6 will not find service. I have tried resetting numerous times. It worked once but soon after lost service again. This problem started gradually last week and if I shut phone off it would usually find service again. This time nothing. I have tried every reset, removing sim card, and restoring from iTunes. Nothing works.
Its still in warranty. Take it to an Apple store. Make an appointment first.
