Question re: HP Color LaserJet 3800n

Is the HP Color JaserJet 3800n Adobe PostScript compatible and can it print at 600dpi?
If so, is the current drive package available from HP?  What is the URL and name of the driver dowload?
I am attempting to print from a Windows 7, 32-bit workstation and the printer is on a network.

Excellent suggestion.  I've copied the question to the discussion board.

  • Software for HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP is not currently available from the Software Update server.

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion, and found that I could no longer print to  my HP CM1312nfi.
This is usually a problem with HP at every upgrade, but this time, they appear to have offloaded the driver download process to Apple.
My printer is connected wirelessly through a time capsule by IP address—the physical, not the virtual, e.g: 169.254.xx.xx instead of 10.0.1.x.
When I try to download the driver by bonjour or IP, I get the following error message:
Can't install the software for the Hewlett-Packard HP Color LaserJet CM1312nfi MFP because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.
Is this truly a Software Update server error, and if so, any clue when it will be resolved?
I am able to print with the generic driver as of now, but fax and scan capabilites are gone. The add fax dialog  lists no devices.
Scanning is not supported on my printer model with the Hewlett Packard Print 2.12 driver. Will support be forthcoming, or did Mountain Lion brick my scanner?
Thanks for your time and attention.

Of course, once I posted this, I tried again and downloaded the driver without issue.
My second question still stands, however:
Scanning is not supported on my printer model with the Hewlett Packard Print 2.12 driver. Will support be forthcoming, or did Mountain Lion brick my scanner?

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw - PostScript support?

    Hi,
I'm looking to purchase a new printer/scanner/copier(/fax is a nice to have, but not mandatory), and I'm deciding between the following models:
HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw
HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw
PostScript support is important for me, and I know that the 175 has this.  However, I'm not sure about the 177, even after digging through several web pages and documents.  Here's what I found:
    - The main specs page for the 177 says that it supports "PCLm".  I'm not familiar with this PCL variant, so I don't know how it compares to PCL5 or PCL6, etc.  I was unable to find more information on "PCLm".
    - The "Software Included" section of Page 2 of the PDF datasheet for the 177 mentions "HP PostScript" driver.  This is the only place where I've seen any potential indication that the 177 supports PostScript.  This section also mentions a "PCLmS" driver.  I could not find any further information on "PCLmS".
    - The  for User Guide the 177 only mentions PostScript in a section that refers to ePrint.  However, it does not imply that the 177 itself supports PostScript.
    - The Product Specifications page (in the Support section of the HP site) for the 177 has a "Printing Specifications" section which lists only "PCL3 GUI" next to "Device languages".
I'm guessing that the 177 does not support PostScript, but does anyone have any more definitive information?  Also, is there a description of PCLm / PCLmS somewhere?
    Thanks!

  • HP Color LaserJet MFP M570dw and HP Web Services

    Hi,
I have a HP Color LaserJet MFP M570dw printer and have tried to enable the HP Web Services, but without success.
My printer is configured on a fixed ip-address, with a default gateway and of course with static DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
Every time when I try to enable the Web Services feature I get the error message "Connection error. Check your internet connection.".
My internet connection is working fine and the printer is able to communicate thru the firewall fine too. When I do some tracing I see the printer communicating to the public ip-address "23.21.172.122" but there is no response comming back. So I assume the problem is external and not related to my internal configuration. I have tested this with a fully opened firewall (allowing all communications from my LAN to the Internet) with exactly the same results. There is no answer comming back from the ip "23.21.172.122".
Also I can't find the HP Color LaserJet MFP M570dw printer in the supported HP ePrint printerlist.
The 400-series is supported, the 500-serie is not mentioned.
But since the webinterface of my HP Color LaserJet MFP M570dw printer is giving me the HP Web Services configuration page, I asumed this type would be supported too...
Does anyone have a clue how to get ePrint working on the HP Color LaserJet MFP M570dw printer?
Is there anyone who got the HP Web Services working on a HP Color LaserJet MFP M570dw printer?
    Kind regards,
    Rene.

    Hi Rene,
Have you tried updating its firmware version?
The latest firmware should improve the web services connectivity and may help resolving such an issue:
    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5210913&sp...
Also be sure to follow its steps which may help resolving a connection issue:
    • Improvements made for connecting to HP Web Services.
NOTE: After updating from firmware datecode 20121002 to firmware datecode 20121019, if a connection to HP's Web Services cannot be established a Security Reset should be performed. Use the following steps to perform a Security Reset.
    1. At the printer's touch screen control panel press the wrench & gear icon (Setup menu) at the top of the touch screen.
    2. Using the scroll arrows on the right side, scroll until Network Setup appears then press Network Setup.
    3. In the Network Setup menu select Security
    4. Using the scroll arrows on the right side, scroll until Reset All Security appears and then press Reset All Security. Allow the reset to complete before attempting to connect to HP's Web Services.

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw fax to pc

I have just bought this printer and want to msend faxes to my pc.  I was told by PC world that it had this function.  So far I cant find it can anyone help.  Many thanks

Hi ,  I would be happy to help shed some light on the issue your are having with trying to setup this Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw to receive your faxes on your PC.  I have looked into this further for you, and I'm pretty sure this model doesn't support receiving faxes on your PC. You can double check to make sure I haven't missed it in the  COLOR LASERJET PRO MFP M177 User Guide.
I did however locate a different model, where in the manual does provide instructions on how to set this feature up but it is a black only printer. Its the LaserJet Pro MFP M225dw (again black only, no colour.)
Step 5 (Optional): Configure settings for receiving digital faxes (Windows) The product can save incoming digital faxes to a computer folder. Use the HP Digital Fax Setup Wizard to configure the settings. This feature is available only for Windows. 1. Click Start, and then click Programs. 2. Click HP, click the name of the product, and then click Digital Fax Setup Wizard. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure the settings.  HP also has this feature available on it's HP Officejet Pro 8610/8620/8630 e-All-in-One Printers, which are Colour Inkjets. Some of the commerical products also support this feature but I'm unsure of which ones. I would really suggest contacting HP Shopping for more information on these models.  Hopefully this has answered your questions, and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.   Thanks,

  • Solved! Windows 7 driver solution for HP Color LaserJet 3550

I had success getting the HP Color LaserJet 3550n (the 3550 family ) printer to install in Win7.  That printer was the only thing that did not fire up with Win7. In the Devices and Printers window, I tried troubleshooting, but it was a problem with the DOT4USB drivers. Similarly to others, I was successful by using the following course of action:
      1) Went to HP and downloaded the Vista 32-bit drivers for the 3550, unpacking them at C:\HP CLJ3550\ as suggested by the driver file.
      2) In Devices & Printers, did <Right-Click> <HP 3550> <Properties> <Hardware tab>
      3) I selected the first "Device Function" <DOT4USB> then did <Properties> <Change Settings> <Driver tab> <Uninstall>.
      4) I then selected the second and third Function (which were <HP Color LaserJet 3550> and <IEEE 1284.4 compatible printer> and did the the <Properties> ... <Uninstall> for each.
      5) I disconnected the USB to the printer, went back to Devices & Printers, and selected <Add a Printer>.
      6) I selected <Add a local printer> <Use existing port DOT4_001> <Next> <Have Disk> <C:\HP CLJ3550> <OK> and installed the printer.
      7) It would not work unless I "let" Windows make it the Default Printer
      8) After it was finished, I did <Right-Click> on my preferred printer and selected <Set as default printer>, and everything worked.

I want to thank you for the solution.  You saved me the expense of having to purchase a new computer.  I used the 64 bit 2003 version and it works just fine.  The people at HP were not very cooperative at all.  When I called, the lady who answered the phone asked if I was from the United States or Canada. When I stated the United States she had a big sigh
of disgust.  When I explained my problem that I was having with the 3550 Laser jet and HP not having the Window 7 drivers, and that the printer was non functional, she stated that I should have researched whether or not my printer was compatible with a new operating system before purchasing it. I asked her if HP would have a compatible driver soon as I did not want to have to purchase a new printer. Then she stated that my printer was old (I bought it in 2005) and what did I expect,t as if the printer not working was my fault.    I told them about your solution to this problem and if they could help me through the step but she did not cooperate .Even if I had to pay the $39 fee to the tech dept for their assistance it was worth it saving time.  HP service in my opinion is very poor and will lean toward a competitors product if I am faced with a choice.  Thank you again.

    Hey @Germanimagenet ,
I suspect your question would be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community, as your HP Printer is a commercial model.
My technical expertise is with consumer products and software, I am sure the commercial folks would be happy to help if you re-post your question for them to answer. The HP Enterprise Business Community is an HP Forum designed for the Commercial and Enterprise customers to help one another. I am sure you will find some HP folks there to help too.
Click here to view the Printing and Digital Imaging. When the page opens you will see the option to 'Log in' or 'Register Now' on the right. The commercial forums are separate from the consumer boards, thus you will need to register if you don't already have a commercial account.
You may find the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise flow M880 Multifunction Printer series page helpful while you wait for somebody in the commercial Forum to respond to your inquiry.
    Best of luck.

  • HP Color Laserjet 2550n has no more printing on both sides

In 2005, I bought an HP Color Laserjet 2550n to go with my laptop.  I had no printer problems.  I loved the feature where I could print a document on both sides of the paper.  The option would show up on the properties menu on the print document dialog window.
Over the past summer, I lost my laptop to a crash and had to get a new laptop using Windows Vista OS.  I hooked up the printer using the USB port and all seemed good until I tried to print on both sides.  In the properties menu of the printing dialog box, the option has disappeared completely!  I tried updating the drivers - didn't fix it.  I tried reinstalling the software that came with the printer, but Windows Vista OS wouldn't accept it.  Help!  I don't know what else to do.  I appreciate any help.
I have also tried Bob_Headrick's advice on Vista Duplex Printing Troubleshooting Guide for "No option for two-sided printing."  The option appeared in the properties menu, but the printer still did not print properly.

I went into the HP P2015 user guide & found the answer. on page 32.
I went into printer properties, device settings, noticed that duplex unit for printing on both sides was showing as "not installed". I changed this to "installed", and it worked.

  • Undesirable and random GET_CONFIG pages printing from HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi

An HP Color LaserJet CM2320fxi MFP is printing at what seems as random times two pages.  The first page is a GET_CONFIG page and the second page is a two line page of random giberish characters much like the Windings font.
Error logs on the printer don't reveal anything is wrong.  It apears that the printer is not aware of these printing events or is not recording them in the logs.
Something similar to this has been encountered and was a result of bad memory or a corrupted firmware load.
This sort of behavior was found posted online in a very brief message on HP's site. Different model of course. http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-LaserJet/get-config-pages-on-models-CP2025/td-p/1095046  The problem apeared not to be resolved.
I dislike the event log of these printers. It doesn't define datetime stamp of the events.
    Copied event log:
    Number Code Page
    8 54.2500 2606
    7 54.2500 2598
    6 13.0000 2324
    5 13.0000 2264
    4 13.0000 1503
    3 13.0000 888
    2 13.0000 812
    1 54.2100 0
The number of events with these symptoms seem pretty sparse. At least those that are reported. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-printing-questions/CM2320fxi-Locks-up-when-printing-from-Ubuntu-9...
Also, the error 54.xxxx doesn't appear to be documented which makes identifying the problem rather difficult.
The "Get_Config" occurrences were taking place shortly after the scheduled calibration process occurred. This was discovered by chance when i just happened to walk by and heard the printer spin up and watched it give birth to the get_config pages.  Almost like it was trying to communicate with me.. Perhapse I need to "get_config".  LOL
As a last resort I reset the NVRAM.  The reset of the NVRAM didn't resolve the problem. There is not enough information available from HP to find a resolution to this problem. This is an attempt to open up a support request with HP or knowledeable HP guru types via this forum.
Suggestions other than that of  watching and reenacting Office Space are welcome.

Phillip -- that did seem to work. Thanks!
One thing of note, after sleuthing it out a bit more, I realized that this happened after I was prompted by Apple's Software update to update the driver to version 1.1.1 (I think that was the number). that update seems to have broken Acrobat, so returning to the one on the Adobe site restores the functionality.
Perhaps this will be an alert to others not to install the Apple driver when prompted, though it's easy to let that slip by.

  • HP Color LaserJet 2840 misidentified as 2830

    Hello, Everyone
We were having problems with our HP Color LaserJet 2840 so I took it to a local computer store for repair.  (The problems were that the printer was squeaking really bad, and tray 2 had ceased working...)  So, I got it back from the shop, and those problems still persist...  But that is a different issue, to be taken up with the store I had it "repaired" at...
Here is my new problem: I plugged the USB cable back into the printer and put the power cord back where it belonged.  Interestingly, Windows XP decided to not only detect it as a new piece of hardware, but it insisted on detecting it as a  HP Color LaserJet 2830.  Again, we have a "2840", not a "2830"
I do not know what the difference is between the two models, I just know that Windows XP has never detected this printer as a "2830" before.  I then proceeded to delete all the printers and then re-install the appropriate driver.  Unfortunately, the install failed.  Which, again, has never happened to me before with this printer.  I halfway suspect that if I could get Windows XP to detect this printer as a "2840",which it IS, instead of a "2830", which it is NOT, that perhaps the driver install might work.  But that is sheer opinion
One reasonable question that you might have is "Are you sure that they gave you YOUR printer back?"  All I know for sure right now is that the model number printed right on the top of the unit says "2840", not "2830"  There was at least one note that someone from our Church taped to the printer.  I will look for that the next time I see the printer...
So, I have two real questions:
    1. Had this problem ever happened before, and what might be the cause?
    2. And, the BIG QUESTION: How do I get Windows XP to understand that this is a 2840 and not a 2830?
    Thank you for your help
    Steven P. Ulrick

The cable for your card reader has been knocked lose - if you pop the side cover off you can put the cable back on.  If the cable is firmly attached, then the card reader has died.  There was supposed to be a 2830 released that had the fax but no card reader but at some point they canceled that decision.  However the firmware was written for all 3 models, so when the printer sees a fax but no card reader it reports itself as a 2830.
The squeaking carousel and not pulling from tray 2 means it needs servicing by a genuinely trained HP tech on that particular model.  Tray 2 should be easy enough to fix, but the carousel may need to be realigned and that is not an easy job.  You may have to call around or go out of your way, but find a service center that is certified in this model printer.
I've worked on this models myself for a couple years - if you think one squeaking carousel is bad, try listening to 4 or 5 of them all at the same time!!!

  • Is there a univeral printer driver for HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP on Windows 7 64 bit?

I had bought a HP Color LaserJet CM1312 Multifunction Printer last year - up to now I could print out via the computer of my doughter (Windows XP), but now this computer is bugged and I would like to be able to use also my own Windows 7 64 bit Computer. Unfortunately the "Full solution" does not work at all, while there also appears to be no Universal Printer Driver for my special printer. In other words: I can´t use the printer and I am upset (HP at its best?).

This is what I have from HP Support:
    Here are the printer drivers:
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL10879/ly-31631-6/hp_CLJ_2600-HB-pnp-win32-en.exe
Use this software for first time USB installations only. Do NOT attach USB cable until prompted by the install program. Once you have successfully installed the driver using the USB cable, you can reconfigure the printer as a network printer using the Add Printer wizard.
For me personally I found that last past to be pretty vague...
i wrote a private message to Rainer who started this thread, but I got no response.
You gotta love people who once their problem is solved leave the rest of us hanging...
Way to go Rainer!!!  Instead of Kudos I wish I could drop bombs on you and make your printer stop working buddy...
    Anyhoo:
I installed the HP2600n printer locally with the link HP sent me and waited until prompted to connect the usb cable...
Local install works perfect!  Was able to print a test page successfully...
I then disconnected the usb cable and rebooted just to be safe...
Now I went into start>devices and printers>add a printer... (Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit)
when i ran the wizard... the 2600n wasn't detected...
I thought I would be slick and I went over to the printer and went into the network settings to find out the address (192.168.1.4)
(press the green button once, right arrow twice, green button again once, right arrow once, green button, right arrow to change to manual... this will tell you the tcp/ip address of your printer....  make sure you hit the "x" button next to cancel and changes... you were just going here to get the address, not I repeat to make any changes)
I then went back to the printer wizard and manually chose to install over tcp/ip and entered the address....
Yay!!  I was able to find and connect to the 2600n and print a test page.
I then went back in and removed the local/usb 2600n printer so that I only have one 2600n (Copy 1) choice to print  (the other people who use this computer aren't all that smart...  wouldn't want to confuse them!!  LOL)
    Works Perfectly!!
