You should not see anything labeled iCloud in Windows Explorer.

  • IPhone update to ios 8.0.2, now iTunes can't find my phone

Updated iPhone 5 to iOS 8.0.2; now iTunes tells me it can't "find" my phone, so I can't sync.  I am not using iCloud, which appears to be a problem..?

    Hey mfrouns,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like your iPhone is not recognized in iTunes when connected to your computer. To troubleshoot this issue, see the relevant article for your operating system:

  • Question(s) about updating to iOS 5.1.

Hi everyone! I have a few questions about updating my iPod to the iOS 5.1.
    First question:
How long will it take? I have used about 8GB worth of memory on it but I have good internet speed.
    Second question:
My main computer that I originally had everything set up with doesn't want to work good at all with iTunes, so I switched everything over to my grandma's
computer. So the question is, what will happen to all my music, apps, etc. if I update using my grandma's computer?
    Third question:
Do I need to transfer my photo's over? I have over 1,000 photo's on my iPod and I was wondering if I updated would I need to transfer them to the computer
or if they'll manually stay on the iPod.
    Fourth Question:
If I update, will I be able to do future updates on the iPod itself without everything being erased like it is with past updates?
    Fifth and final question:
Is the kinks in iOS 5.1 worked out yet? I remember when iOS 5 came out they had a miserable time with it and everyone wasn't too pleased, so I'm wondering if
it'll do me any good to update?
I know I sound like a noob, but the last update I did was iOS 4.2 and I don't like doing updates because they take forever with putting everything back on the iPod. They also worry me a bit because I don't want to lose my music and apps (yes I back the iPod up every few downloads but it still worries me lol). Thanks

Downloading the update file can take an hour or more. After it is downloaded the actual update should take between one and two hours, likely closer to one hour.
    Second question:
My main computer that I originally had everything set up with doesn't want to work good at all with iTunes, so I switched everything over to my grandma's
computer. So the question is, what will happen to all my music, apps, etc. if I update using my grandma's computer?
If all the media is on Grandma's computer and in the iTunes library and the computer authrized for the iTunes accounts used then the media will be restored to the iPod during a latter stage of the update if you:
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and and make a backup by right clicking one the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up. Then restore from that backup. The restore will also do the update.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like aps and music.
    Third question:
Do I need to transfer my photo's over? I have over 1,000 photo's on my iPod and I was wondering if I updated would I need to transfer them to the computer or if they'll manually stay on the iPod.
If the photos were taken by or saved to the iPod they are in the backup that iTunes makes.  If they were synced to the iPod you have to move them from the old computer to grandma's computer. There are third-party programs that will copy synced photos from the iPod to a computer but you have to pay for them.
    Fourth Question:
If I update, will I be able to do future updates on the iPod itself without everything being erased like it is with past updates?
With iOS 5, you can do subsequent updates on the iPod itself via wifi. Nothing is lost (unless something goes amiss)
    Fifth and final question:
Is the kinks in iOS 5.1 worked out yet? I remember when iOS 5 came out they had a miserable time with it and everyone wasn't too pleased, so I'm wondering if
it'll do me any good to update?
I have no problems with iOS 5.1. It is improved over iOS 5 and 5.o.1 with the except that sometines the iPod will crash when you try to edit a photo you took.
I know I sound like a noob, but the last update I did was iOS 4.2 and I don't like doing updates because they take forever with putting everything back on the iPod. The following also tells you what will happen when you update another than the syncing computer. If you follow with what I said above, it will be the same as updating on yur syncing computer.

  • IPhone updated to iOS 8.1 unable to connect to internet

I've just installed iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5.
the iPhone is able to connect to a wifi and access internet at any other wifi network other than the one I use at home.
However before updating(when I was using iOS 7.1.2) the iPhone was working normally,it was able to connect to connect to the wifi and access internet.
The router I use at my home is a netgear one.
The iPhone works just fine with any other wifi other than the one i use at my home.
The wifi works fine with other devices I've -laptop,iPad 2(still using iOS 7.1.2)
    Thanks.

An iPhone will not pair via Bluetooth to a computer (Mac or Windows) except for personal hotspot and then only if your cellular plan supports it. Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?
If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other. The following MAY help with that but there are numerous reports of issues: Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite

  • Stolen iPhone, updated to iOS 7

    Hello everyone.
Two days ago, my iPhone was stolen. Fortunately, I had updated my software to iOS 7, which I hear has upgraded its security features. I'm not sure if there is a way around it, but I believe that you need a person's Apple ID password to wipe/reset the device, as well as to turn off Find my iPhone.
Fortunately, I did have Find my iPhone turned on. However, I have logged onto Find my iPhone on my Macbook Pro, which indicates that my iPhone is offline. I tried to set up "Lost Mode", but of course, that only works if your phone is online. Therefore, the Lost Mode request is pending. The thief must have turned off airplane mode for a moment though, because for a brief period of time (a minute maybe), I did receive email notification of his location. However, the Lost Mode request still did not go through.
I am wondering, can the thief do anything with my device? I have suspended my cell phone service (so I know that Find my iPhone will no longer work unless the device connects to wi-fi). Since it requires my Apple ID password to reset the device, which only I know, is my iPhone at all useful to that person? Especially since I am assuming that they would like to sell the device.
I am still hoping, although very unlikely, that my phone will be returned to me, especially since purchasing a new iPhone 5s could take several weeks.
Any and all comments would be appreciated, as well as advice from anyone who has experience with a stolen iPhone.
    Thank you.

    What you gather is correct.
Report to the police and change all password used in iPhone.

  • Iphone update to iOS 6

I am trying to install the upgrade to iOS 6 on my iphone but it will not let me complete the install becasue my Apple ID is not an email address. What gives?

Many Apple services now require an Apple ID that is also an email address.  Go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId on your computer and create a new ID for use with iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime, then use that to complete your iOS update.  I believe you can still use your current ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes and App Stores.

  • I have my iTunes acc on my computer, but my computer is broken. So I barrow a computer from a friend, can I still do iPhone updates like iOS 5 and not loose my data on my phone?

Ok so. I want to get iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 but my computer recently broke on me right before the release. So im going to barrow a apple laptop from a friend but I'm wondering if I plug my phone into it, and if my data will go on the laptop from my phone and stay there so when my phone restores I can redownload my info back on my phone.  I'm trying to think of ways I can try to get iOS 5 on my iPhone 4 please help.
                                                                                                                                                            Sincer, Brandon O.

Well, I strongly recommend that before you make a backup before sync with a new iTunes, because this will erase everything you have.
Look at www.copytrans.net, they have diferent products, depending on the case.

  • Unable to update to iOS 4.2

    Hi,
I have tried previously to get some advise relating to this issue, and i spent around 2 days in total trying to resolve it with no success so far.
I currently have iOS 4.1 on my iPhone 4, when i previously tried to update to iOS 4.2 on my laptop it downloaded the updated and allowed me to run it, but seemed to lock my phone in some kind of restore mode showing me a pic of a USB lead and the iTunes icon.
I was advised on how to get out of the restore mode, which i have done and my phone is now back to were i was.. Working but still using iOS 4.1.
But, since having failed to apply the 4.2 update my phone is no longer detected by my laptop in iTunes so i am a bit stuck with what do about it?
Does anyone know how to get me updated and also make my laptop see my iphone again please?
    Thanks.
    Steven

    Hi,
I spent 4 hours last night trying to get my iPhone update to iOS 4.2, during that time i worked my way from about 6 sections of the help guides which you mentioned and i finally managed to get my laptop to run itunes and detect my iPhone, then eventually to download and successfully apply the update!
I think the only thing that made a difference was after having rebooted my handset by holding down the sleep/wake button aswell as the button at the bottom and then allow the phone to reboot for a minute or so, it then just seemed to start working again.
Thanks for your help guys, hopefully i wont have to go through the same again if any further updates are released.

  • Has anyone encountered drastic shorter battery life both on iphone 5 and ipad since updating to iOS 6.1.2? How can this problem be solved?

    Dear all,
I am new to this community even though I have been a Apple user for years, so please forgive me if this question is not in the right section.
Has anyone encountered drastic shorter battery life both on iphone 5 and ipad since updating to iOS 6.1.2? I've always been happy with these two products until the update - now the battery life is considerably shorter which is extremely frustrating.
How can this problem be solved? Is there any way to go back to the previous version?
    Thanks for your help.

If you update using iTunes the phone is first wiped clean, then the new OS is installed, and finally the backup is restored. After this finishes if you sync your music should be restored. Music is not in the backup, because it is already on your computer and duplicating it would use up a lot of hard disk space.
An OTA update just patches what has changed; it does not disturb content.

  • After updating my iphone 5 of ios 7, I delete or trash my emails rorm my inbox and they pop back up in my inbox.  How do I fix this?  They are deleted from the main server but show up in my email on my phone and will not stay deleted.

I recently updated my iphone 5 to IOS 7 and since doing this, i cannot get my email messages to stay deleted when I trash them.  They have been deleted from the main mail server but show up on my phone.  When I trash them, they disappear for a few seconds and then re-appear in the inbox. I tried deleted my mail account from my phone and re-adding it, but this worked for about 12 hours and now its doing it again. I also have shut my phone off and rebooted it but this did not work.  How do I fix this?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
Also consider deleting and reinstalling the Mail Account in question.

  • How can I update software on iPhone 3g from ios 3.1.3 to ios 4?

Recently been given an iPhone 3g. I had to restore the phone to sync to my iTunes. Now a lot of apps will not download as I need at least iOS 4 but the phone is iOS 3. iTunes tells me that this is the latest software for this model when I check for updates. Is there anyway to update to iOS 4?

The iPhone in question, iPhone 3g is running software version ios 3.1.3, my current iTunes is running 10.6.3. How can I update the software on said iPhone to iOS 4 from 3.1.3 if iTunes informs me that the current software is up to date.
The iPhone has pretty much been rendered useless as I can not download majority of apps. Therefore it just works as a pretty basic phone.
