Question re Online Number

hello there -- i am contemplating subscribing for an online number but i have a question i can't quite find the answer to...
i understand that with my own number, anyone from anywhere call call me on it, and pay their local rates for making that call.
for instance, if someone in belgium on their cell calls me in france on my online number, they pay what they normally pay to reach me or my voicemail.
my QUESTION is, CAN I 'call them back' from my skype online account for FREE --
if so, is this only the case if they are SKYPE members.
and/or
do i have to also subscribe or have 'pay as you go' per minute credit on account to reach them via skype, by return.
if not, do i have to take the number they've left and go through my local phone carrier at local charges?

A Skype online number is for incoming calls only. If you want to make an outgoing phone call you need an appropriate subscription or Skype credits.

First of all, I live in Canada and it doesn't appear that I can get a Canadian online number. Any idea when that will become available?
Also, is there any way to change the Call Display feature to display not only a business name, but also a number that is DIFFERENT than the online number. As I cannot get a Canadian online number, I would need the call display to read my business name, and then the local Canadian phone number that I would like people to call (so they avoid long distance charges).

We just purchased a 12 month Online Skype Number with USA, Seattle area code and we have a question: Will this number work without the +1 dial if we are called from the US?
Can we buy a real American phone number, if yes what are the costs?

You would need an Online Number to receive calls from telephones with your Skype account, and a subscription (or Skype Credit) to be able to call telephones from Skype. Except for Caller ID (depending on what country your Online Number is from), Online Numbers do nothing for calling telephones.

Online Number Question - Telemarketers / number ch...

If I pay for a year subscription to the online number and 2 months in need to change it because telemarketers are now calling it is there a charge?

Can I use a current number as my online number?

I'm interested in setting up an online number for my business, and I already have a phone number being used as my work number. If I could switch my current number to the online number, that would be amazing so that I don't have to change my number. Is that possible? Thank you!

I checked many of the FAQ's at the Skype forum, but I can not find any answer to my question. I really hope somebody can help me out with the following:
I do have an online number for one of my clients, but I need to stop or transfer this to my new Skype account asap! (my old work is still receiving calls on this online number).
Can I transfer, block or stop this number asap? (even though I already purchased the number in advance for 1 year). I'm even willing to block the number and buy a new one when possible. (and to loose my already made one year payment for this existing number)
I really do hope somebody can help me out!

If you are sharing the same Apple ID registered with iMessage and FaceTime on each device, this is by design and intention for those with an iPhone and other iOS device and/or Mac that don't share the devices or their Apple ID with someone else.
You or your teenager need to use a different Apple ID registered with iMessage and FaceTime. You can continue sharing the same Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases on each device.

Online number previously used by dodgy company

Just purchased a new online number couple of days ago.
Today I got a call through that number demanding where their product was. Huh!
Did a search using my new number and a company came up that sells products online. That number is everywhere.
It is no good for me. How do I cancel/change that number.
I need a quick fix for this as my site is about to go live.

Please do contact Skype Customer Service to request this subscription be cancelled and refunded, so you can start with a different number.

If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service, try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.

My online number isn't working

I cannot recieve calls from my online number. It stopped working about two weeks ago. I have tried everyting, changing the preference settings. waiting five minutes. uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
To be honest I really frustrated now that a service I am paying for isn't working and there is no proper support service in place.
I have marketed this number and sent it widely -- people are trying to get in touch with me and I am not able to take their calls.

My Online Number has stopped working!

My online number which I have had for 2 1/2 years for my business is now not working...Earlier today, when the number was dialed, my clients recieved a recording that said the number had been changed, and then the call disconnected...Now, when you dial the number, it rings busy...I have tried changing the privacy settings to contacts only and then back again and logging out and back in again...same problem...Looking for ANY assistance...Please help!

I have exactly the same problem. The support consists of typing in a question and getting a reply from completely incompetent agents. They get impatient if you don't know what to do if they ask you to re-program your computer. One person on this person says try GOOGLE VOICE instead of SKYPE I am going to find out about it today and let you know what its about. It can't be worse than the service offered BY THIS GROUP OF INCOMPETENT COWBOYS THAT TRY TO RUN SKYPE.......

Thanks for the question. iTunes purchases are billed to Store Credits first, before Credit Cards, as outlined by the following article:
When making purchases, content credits are used first, followed by Gift Certificate, iTunes Card, or Allowance Account credits; your credit card or PayPal account is then charged for any remaining balance.

It also may be that the iTunes Store is prompting to verify your billing information:
When there is a mismatch between the iTunes Store's records and your credit card company's records, you will receive an error message stating that your credit card's security code isn't valid or that your zip code does not match your bank's records.

Skype Customer Support doesn't monitor these community forums. Other Skype users do. Please keep that in mind, if you aren't getting answers to questions posted here.
Getting back to the question of Caller ID, one way to turn on Caller ID is to log into your account on the Skype web site. You should see a link to Caller ID Settings, which is also at:
https://secure.skype.com/account/caller-id/settings
If you have certain Skype Online Numbers, you can select those numbers. Numbers from some countries are not permiited as Caller ID. If you have multiple numbers, Skype can use different numbers on Caller ID when calling those countries. There is even a way to add a mobile number for your Caller ID when calling from Skype.
For me, I have online numbers in 4 countries (USA, Mexico, UK, Australia). When I call from Skype, my default number for Caller ID is the USA number. When calling the UK, my UK number shows up, and the USA number shows up for calls to any other place.

RTX 4088 not ringing when called using online numb...

I have read a lot of posts some with solutions( that don't work) and others stating that this is a known skype issue.
Firstly i have just bought my second cordless phone, RTX 4088, nice phone but wont ring when anyone rings me on my online number. This is hit and miss, works some days others not. Actually doesn't work most of the time.
I had a long chat with skype support and did as a another post suggested deleted an xml file, changed some settings and sat about for 5 minutes, this didn't work.
I did get it to work by doing a full reset on the phone, this fixed it temporarily. 15minutes later.
RTX support is useless, they said contact skype and skype said contact them....
I am pissed at skype over this, no public notice that this is a bug and no real solution. Online numbers are pointless if your phone wont ring when someone calls. You may as well buy a €6 corded phone and leave your computer on because thats the only calls i can receive. Dont spend th €90 euro for a fancy phone that just answers skype to skype calls.
Skype please fix this bug and stop giving us the run around.....

Problem setting up an Online Number

I've tried to order an online number. About 1 hour later I received the message "Unfortunately, we can't set up an Online Number for you in Germany." Since my paypall account has already been charged and the amount has not been yet refunden I dont know what to do in the next step. Is there any hotline I can adress to?

Discount for online number available?

Hello,
I am thinking about purchasing a Skype online number for my UK business.
At the moment, it says on Skypes website that there is a 50% discount for existing subscribers. I think this does not apply to me because this would be my first online number.
But I remember that there was some offer a while ago where you were able to receive credit towards your other subscriptions when buying an online number.
Can anybody please help and tell me what is the best and cheapest way to get the online number or if there are any promotions or discounts currently available , hidden on Skype's website??
