Question re. PSE 12 upgrade

Two days ago I upgraded on line from Photosho Elements 7 to Photoshop elements 12. Now when I open the welcome page I get a message saying that 'my trial period has now expired' and asking do I want to "Buy now?" Have I made an error in downloading? If so how to I get my full upgrade version up and running?
Thank you.
Ray

Hi shriraymond,
After you have installed PSE 12, you need to enter the serial number when prompted to license the trial version and convert it to full version.

  • How to prepare hard drive for installaton of PSE 13 upgrade

I would like to install PSE 13 upgrade on a notebook where I have PSE 5 installed.  How should I prepare the hard drive for the installation? Should I uninstall PSE 5 before installling PSE 13?  I have found that uninstall programs leave files behind does Adobe have a cleaning tool?
The notebook is a Dell, Latitude E6400, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.27GHz 2 GB RAM
32-bit operating system, Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1

KCav45 we do have the CC Cleaner Tool available at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6.  The most which it would remove from Photoshop Elements 5 would be the licensing files.  Even for Photoshop Elements 13 the uninstaller must be run first and only the licensing files are affected.
I would recommend running the uninstaller available through the Programs and Features Control Panel to remove the Photoshop Elements 5 installation.  Your photos should not be affected.
I did find Use Backup, Restore to move catalog | Organizer | Elements 6 or later although I am unsure if it is relevant for Photoshop Elements 5.  If you have questions regarding transferring the photos, and any tags or organization you have done, to Photoshop Elements 13 I would recommend posting in the Photoshop Elements forum at Photoshop Elements.  The community in that forum will be more familiar with the topic of moving your photos.

  • Questions on previous Yosemite upgrade posts

I had the following questions on previous Yoemite upgrade posts:
    1.  how do you acquire and make a bootable thumb drive installer?
    2.  how do you boot the system in safe mode?
    3.  what applications and versions of these are Yosemite compatible?
    4.  if an upgrade is required how do you get it?  I realize that this will be application dependent?
    Thanks.

I would go with Niel's suggestion for question 1 as the program will do all the work for you.

  • How to prepare hard drive for installation of  PSE 13 upgrade

I would like to run PSE 13 upgrade on a notebook where I have PSE 5 installed. Should I uninstall PSE 5 before installing PSE 13?
How should I prepare my hard disk for the installation?  I have found that uninstall programs leave files be hind. Does Adobe have a cleaning tool?
The notebook is a Dell, Latitude E6400, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.27GHz, 2 GB RAM
32-bit Operating System, Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1

Thank's for your reply - nice to know that they are independent operations.    I appreciate your thought about the 30 day trial, however I already made the purchase.
Here is the rest of my plan - please advise what you think.  I have a desktop computer with a 64-bit CPU and two 500 GB SATAs.  I thought I would create a virtual PC and run Vista in it.  Then I install PSE 5.

Apple ID has my old email address. It will not allow me to change the address and will not accept my password or ID questions.   I recently upgraded to OSX Yosemite 10.10.1.  I also have an Apple ID that works with iTunes and would like to keep it as my primary.

To change the iCloud ID on your devices you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted (if using iOS 7), then sign back in with your current ID.
If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, you will have to temporarily recreate it in order to delete the existing account.  To do this, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Question regarding pse 8

When I have multiple pictures up, how do I keep two pictures from merging when I move one of the pictures to the side?  I would like to turn this feature off.
    Thanks.

I opened 4 photos into Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 and have set the pictures to "float in all windows" so I can easily grab any one of them and move them to compare pictures. What happens is that the picture I am moving fades and suddenly I have two pictures, one on top of the other in one frame.  In the bar at the top of the "merged" picture, it shows the file names of two pictures.  From that top bar, I can undo the "merge" by grabbing one of the pictures and dragging it to the left or right, and I am back to the two original pictures.  I would like to be able to move pictures around without two frames becoming one frame with two pictures layered.  Hope that is a better explanation. Thanks. DianeDate: Mon, 29 Oct 2012 12:47:56 -0600

  • Questions on IDing and upgrading my Media Live PC

I got a Media Live PC a while ago and am just getting around to setting it up for use as my main PC.  The basic spec is OK - 5400+ X2 cpu and 4GBs of DDR2-800 (which I might add another 4GBs to as there are two free DIMM slots).
What I would like to do is:
    Install Windows 7 64bit Ultra
Replace the DVB-T card and PCI riser with a modern(ish) PCI-e graphics card and riser
Replace the DVD-RW drive with a Blu-ray drive
Add an SSD for the main drive
    My questions are:
Will I be able to find all the drivers I need for the Ralink wifi, IVT bluetooth and the VFD display for Win 7?
Is there a recomended PCI-e riser I can use?
What is the best single-slot PCI-e graphics card I can use?  Could I use a 5770?  I'm not planning on doing any major gaming, and my monitor will be a 1680 x 1050 resolution.  Would a double-slot card with better cooler be possible?
Can I fit any standard laptop BR drive?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi Bas, that's very reassuring to hear that my Toshiba might not be at fault!  Right now though, this MSI is my only PC so I haven't (yet) been able to test it in another PC.  Well, if all SSDs are going to be like that, I will indeed stick with a standard hdd.  I don't really need the extra speed, I've merely become used to it :D  And I recently sold off my Velociraptors too... doh!  (got a good price for 'em though!)
I can't flip the fan on my cpu heatsink because it is an Alpine GT64 and looks like one of those low-vibration ones like you get on an AC Freezer Pro...  I guess I'll need to replace the whole heatsink as well as the fan?  The case does get hot if I run the PC for a long time but right now I don't use my PC much - just web access, really, at the moment.  I do plan to use it for ripping and playing media and will eventually replace the TV card with a graphics card...  Whilst I'm replacing the HSF, are there any better CPUs I could look out for, ideally with lower TDP than the 5400+ I have in now?  I've been running Intel i7s for ages and am really out of date on AMD chipsets and cpus...  The motherboard is an MS-7329 V1.2.  Google doesn't say much, but could I put in a low-TDP quadcore Phenom?
Are there any better PSUs available that I could upgrade to?  My goal is just to bump the spec of this machine bit by bit as funds become available.  The Toshiba SSD was the first 'bump' (well, apart from installing Windows 7) as I already had it to hand.

  • A question about student version upgrade

    Hi everyone,
I do know, that student version is only for noncommercial work, and while i'm just a student, i don't wanna take that risk that I might get commercial work to do, and I would't be allowed to do it.
Now what I've got in my mind, is that i would first buy cs4 design premium - student version. Then I would update it to the commercial version (CS4).
The question is, can I update CS4 student to CS4 commercial, or do I have to wait until CS5 is to be released.
And IF I can upgrade from CS4 student to CS4 commercial, does it cost the regural upgrade price? ( ~790€ ).
I know that student version has full upgrade rights, but on the "whats egible for upgrade" it doesn't mention CS4 (for obvious reasons, usually people don't want to pay to upgrade to same program they have), but somehwhere in the european FAQ (here http://www.adobe.com/uk/education/students/studentedition/faq.html ) there was mentioned this
Can I upgrade from a Student Edition?
Yes, a Student Edition can be upgraded to a commercial version.
Now it is not clearly stated, that can we upgrade from later version to more recent one, or can we upgrade recent student ver to recent commercial ver
Location: Europe, Finland, so before you north americans tell me that I can use student version for commercial work, i'd like to say that It doesn't work that way in Europe.
Thank you for your time, I hope someone has a clear ansrew to me.

  • End of contract questions (Data plan and upgrade eligibility)

    Hi All,
I found another thread also titled "End of contract questions" and it was very helpful but I want to make sure I'm not mistaken in any way.  Here's my scenario:
    2 Line Plan
    ME (primary): 2-year contract, unlimited Data (10/15/10 - 10/15/12)
    WIFE: 1-year contract, unlimited data (10/15/10 - 10/15/11)
I signed her up for a 1-year contract on the advice of the Verizon rep that was helping us.  It ended up netting an additional cost of $70-100 (I forget exactly) but it was worth it in my opinion because I knew that one of us would be able to get a new phone in 1 year as opposed to 2.
So here are the specific questions:
    1.  Verizon has done away with 1-year contracts.  This means that whenever my wife goes in to renew her contract (and get a new device), she will need to sign a 2 year contract, correct?  All further questions will be posed based on a "yes" answer to this one.
    2.  Assuming she has to sign a 2-year contract, will she still be able to retain her unlimited data plan?
    3.  Assuming she signs up for a 2-year contract, will she still be able to get "loyalty" pricing or whatever they're calling it now (used to be "new every 2")?  Is she even eligible for anything since she's not the primary on the line?
    4.  In the other thread titled "End of contract questions..." it was mentioned that "The loyalty discount expires 6 months after it becomes available -- so 2 months after your contract ends".  Is this correct?
    5.  Currently, if I go to MyVerizon and hover over the "?" next to my number and "Eligible for a discount" it says:  "You are eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing. If you upgrade on or after 6/15/12 you are eligible to receive an additional loyalty discount. "  I intend to wait for my line as it still has a year on the contract however when I do the same for my wife's line it says:  You are eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing."  Does it not mention the Loyalty discount because it's not applicable to a secondary line?  Or perhaps because it's implied since she's technically out of her contract period?
I'm trying to make heads or tails of this.  At the time, it sounded like a great idea (her on a 1-year, me/primary on a 2-year).  I'm hoping it will work out for us so that every year, one of us will be eligible for a new line.  I'm only concerned with the unlimited data aspect being that she's going to be going from a 1-year to a 2-year and also the actual loyalty/discount aspect.
Thanks in advance for anyone who helps!!

Not eligible because she is 1)not the primary line and 2)1yr contracts weren't eligible in the first place.

  • PSE 8 upgrade album conversion issue

I upgraded my system to Windows 7 and since I was going to have to reload everything anyway, I upgraded to PSE 8 at the same time.
Before the upgrade I saved my catalog files to my external drive and then moved them back to the C:\Program Files\Adobe folder  I put it there because I didn't see a catalog folder under the Elements Organizer folder
Anyway, I then converted my catalog - renamed it "My Catalog 7.0" to differentiate
The conversion says it was good and upon inspection all meta tags and albums seem okay.  The issue is that it didn't bring in the images from May 2009 onward.  I know those were in the catalog in 7.0 and had tags on them.
Any sggestions on how to get those images (with their metadata) into PSE 8.0?
    Susan

    Thanks John
You were right, I pulled the wrong file to convert (the one I used to convert 6 to 7)
Thankfully I had a back up and was able to restore my correct 7 catalog.  All is good now.

  • License key question with regards to upgrading from 7/8.1 to 10

Hi, I hope I've posted my question in the right area of the forum:
I understand that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for Win7/Win8 users.
That's really wonderful but I was wondering what the exact mechanism with regards to our 7/8 license keys. Here's a couple examples to clarify my question:
first, example: I have Windows 7 Pro license and say I upgrade to 10 within the first year. Let's say I need to reinstall Windows after that first year is finished will I still be able to use that same license key I used to upgrade 7 to 10 to install a fresh
copy of Windows 10 or will I need to purchase a new license because the year is elapsed?
Here's another scenario. I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and after trying Windows 10 for while, I decide to uninstall 10 and go back to 7... because I'm crazy like that.... Will I be able to use my original Key for Windows 7 or is the upgrade a one way road:
where the 7 key turns into a Windows 10 key and can no longer be used to activate Windows 7?
    Thanks for the feedback!

    Hi Momashi
Here's another scenario. I upgrade to Windows 10 from 7 and after trying Windows 10 for while, I decide to uninstall 10 and go back to 7...
because I'm crazy like that.... Will I be able to use my original Key for Windows 7 or is the upgrade a one way road: where the 7 key turns into a Windows 10 key and can no longer be used to activate Windows 7?
If you Upgrade to Windows 10 and do not like it, for whatever reason.
Before you upgrade to Windows 10.
Create an image of windows 7 to an external HD and a recovery CD, using windows 7 Backup and Restore.
You can re-install windows 7 in the SAME SYSTEM using the recovery CD without using  a key.
    Hope it helps
Where did you get your outlandish information about a Windows 7 key turning into a Windows 10 key?  Nothing in the past has ever happened like this before, so what makes you think it will happen with Windows 10?
My Windows ME did not turn into a Windows XP key!
My Windows XP key did not turn into a Windows Vista key!
My Windows Vista key did not turn into a Windows 7 key!
    And so on!

  • Question regarding MSCS post upgrade.

We currently have ECC 5.0 ABAP only system (NO JAVA) running in MSCS environment. ( Windows-SQL server)
Currently we have Two nodes such as  Node 1 and Node 2. At a given time we have all resources running either on Node 1 or Node 2.
Now, we have completed upgrade of above ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 ( again we do not have Java in ECC 6.0 ).
Asper upgrade guide Page # 141 Section 6.2 some post-upgrade activities are necessary for an MSCS configuration, for this follow OSS note 941092.
After reading these notes and as per OSS note 941092 / 1011190 / 919046 we have to install
    1)"ASCS" instance and
    2) Enqueue Replication server
    3) Additional ABAP dialog instance on other node.
We will not be adding JAVA in future  OR we do not want JAVA isntance at all.
So, my question is do we really have to do above step 1 , 2 & 3?
Can we leave system after upgrade as it is? i.e not to install ASCS and enqueue replication.
What is the necessity to install ASCS?

    in earlier version
Central Instance = Message Server + Enqueue server + disp+work
    in newer version
ASCS = Message Server + Enqueue server (only)
you need to install CI (disp + work) + Enqueue Replication server in main node and DI (disp + work) + Enqueue Replication Server in additional node
from my understanding only ASCS and DB Instance are clustered
for example in my recent project
    BEFORE UPGRADE
NODE 1 : CI Active + (DB INSTANCE passive)
NODE 2 : DB INSTANCE Active + (CI Passive)
    AFTER UPGRADE
NODE 1 : ASCS (Active) + (DB INSTANCE passive) + ENQ Replication Server (Active) + Central Instance (Active)
NODE 2 : DB INSTANCE (Active) + ASCS (Passive) + ENQ Replication Server (Active) + Dialog Instance (Active)
Dialog Instance is optional but please do remember without Dialog instance, once your CI down, you dont have Application Server
Dialog Instance can be installed in additional node (node 2 in example above) or you can install in separate server
all this information you can read from Upgrade Guide and SAP Notes

  • MAC PSE 8 upgrade to 10 issue

I've searched and not found the answer I'm searching for. I called Adobe Sales who said to upgrade to 10 to stop me from having to redo all my near 20K images again in LR.
What I want to do: I have been using BR on my MAC for some time now. My Sony SLT-33 RAW files don't show preview or keep some of the metadata due to it not being recognized in BR CS4 CR5.7. And in LR of course when I import an image now all the metadata doesn't show up on RAW files, but does on JPEGs and of course I want to import just RAW. Adobe told me to upgrade to Elements 10 that has my camera info in, so I installed a trial version. I was told when I install it a screen will pop up for me to bring everything from BR w/all info, favorites, folders, ratings, etc. and to view RAW files. I didn't get the screen and this isn't BR but Organinzer which I've never used.
How do I bring the library/catalog from BR over into Organizer? If I cannot do this, I will have to redo all 20K and if that's the case might as well skip PSE10 (next year will be getting PS CSx) and do it over again in LR (which will take months!).
Thanks in advance for anyone's advise on saving me loads of time!

Yes I know it would still be the same in 10 using BR, but I'm transferring over to LR anyways and just uninstalled 10s trial version.
When I called Adobe yet one more time, I finally got a knowledgeable person. He said unfortunately that I will have to imput all data again once cataloged in LR (Lightroom) and after answering some other questions he had, I was told since I didn't use Elements, that LR will do all I need until I get PS CS.x next year.
Again thanks so much for your time!
