Question re; Raw files, Canon

I have Photoshop CS5 with Camera Raw Version 7.0.0.308. I can't open raw files from my Canon EOS5D Mark III........

Camera Raw version 7.x is ONLY for CS6.
For CS5 you want version 6.7.
There's a dedicated Camera Raw forum where you should post:

  • Can't Find Or Acces My RAW Files ( Canon EOS 350D

I'm new to SLR Cameras.. I have a Canon EOS 350D So y decided to shoot in RAW. But i have problems and question. If you just go to the camera directory can you see the RAW images? And i cannot find my RAW files that i shot..in my camera i can see them but in Bridge CS3 and PS CS3 nothing...i've already downloaded the update Camera RAW 4. But Nothing So how to work with RAW.. Pls Help me..because i need to shoot again tommorrow so i'm short on time..
    Raizen Albertsz,

I found some one with almost the same problem so i am going to change his words a little bit so that you can understand my problem.
I'd taken a few shots here and there this week in RAW + Large format, but wasn't able to find the RAW files. OK, I thought perhaps I was mistaken and didn't have the settings correct & didn't really take any RAW shots.
So I reformatted the 4GB Scandisk CF card (via the camera) and took more shots, all in RAW + Large. Going thru the camera display with Info turned on, I can verify that each one was indeed on RAW + Large. But I still can't find them.
I'm using a cable to connect my EOS Rebel XT (EOS 350D) to transfer the files to a selected folder on my pc. Opening that folder in Windows (I have Win XP)there are only the the JPGs in it. If i open Adobe Bridge CS3 or PS CS3 i would find only the JPGs. Where are my RAW .CR2 files going? I was under the impression they would be in the same folder as the JPG images, with same file number. So that i can see like a thumbnail or something.
I've downloaded the Camera RAW 4.4.1. Upgrade. I did what is written
To install with Adobe Creative Suite 3 or Photoshop CS3:
    1. Exit Photoshop CS3.
    2. Open My Computer.
    3. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
    4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
    5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
    6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as in step 4.
    7. Launch Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Bridge.
Note: If generic camera thumbnails appear in Adobe Bridge, follow these steps:
    1. Check to make sure the plug-in was installed in the correct directory in step 4 above.
    2. Start Bridge.
    3. Choose Tools > Cache > Purge Central Cache.
but still nothing. So what else could i do?
    Raizen Albertsz,

  • PSE 10 RAW-files Canon EOS 700D.

I have PSE 10 and I can't open raw-files from my Canon EOS 700D. How do I do?

    You have three options:
    1. Upgrade PSE to a later version that supports your camera.
    2. Use the canon software to convert the photos and just use PSE for additional editing.
    3. Download the free adobe DNG converter to convert your .cr2 files to something your version of the raw converter can understand.

  • Raw files Canon 5d Mark 3

How do I get support for raw files for the Canon 5d mark 3?

Download the free DNG Converter 6.7 RC and convert the files to DNG. Since you didn't bother to tell us what version of Photoshop you are using, that's the only answer I can give you.

  • General question and RAW Files

My apologies if this has been asked before, or if this is in the wrong forum, but I just couldn't find all the answers that I was looking for by searching the forums.
I am getting ready to purchase a new Mac Pro for my wife (and myself of course) because she has really gotten into digital photography. In addition, she has asked for a new high end Camera. Something that would let her enjoy her hobby to the fullest. Now I have a couple of questions I'm still looking for clarification on.
    1. What exactly are RAW files, most of the other terminology she has thrown at me I have found the answers too and think I now understand. I am getting the feeling this is something that I should understand based upon what I have read but I just havn't found a clear definition.
    2. Is there a good website that I can use to help educate myself in order to make informed decisions in purchasing a new camera and helping make full use of the new mac. I enjoy the help of the forums but I don't want to waste anyone's time when I can just 'RTFM' in a manner of speaking.
I have already bribed her to buy the mac, however I ask these questions due to the fact the camera is a surprise for her b-day so I don't want to just start asking her questions and give it away. I want to make sure I get the right camera the first time around.
    Thanks for the help!

A raw file in essence saves the information differently, so you can make a photo mistake (underexpose for example) and correct it within reason on your computer. with other formats ie. jpg you get what you get, the information is embedded into your file and you really can't change anything. so if you have a really red photo, take it out in raw, but in jpg you can take it out but then it will replace with green. hard to explain the numbers are set in jpg, not so in raw. Or the underexposed example, in raw you play with the numbers and it can still come out good, in jpg format you do the same thing and the photo would lose crispness, lose saturation, and color, and would probably come out looking washed out.
There are standards starting in the RAW arena DNG and most programs do support it. and it is the way to go if you are considering high end photography, amatuer or not.
my latest complaint is that i was trying to utilize my TIFF files made from a raw format for some of these quickie projects. I'm having a bit of an output problem here with iphoto. But once solved will probably be fine. but no matter i would want HIGH input, so there is plenty of wiggle room for whatever output.
I have a D70 nikon... takes only 6.1 mp shots.. works great for my usage for now. cost is in the $1500 range. Best advice is pick a brand and stick with it. because once you start buying the lens's to go with the camera they don't alway work on other new digital bases from different brands. anything SLR is going to give you the same feel shooting from an old film based SLR. Some lens's will swap out. My old flashes from my older cameras work fine in digital.
No matter what you get, shooting in raw format takes up space. minimum 20mb per photo. retouch resize, and resave and you can get larger. And although the iphoto 6 does seem to be able to handle the large requirements, it seems they can't handle the quality that goes with it on the output end. Knowing what your output is going to be is important when managing your files (my newest lesson learned).

  • Raw files Canon 60D

HI am running v9.6 and yosemite for couple of weeks. just tried to download some photos in RAW format but when selected to download to file all i am getting is black squares with no picture. All the pics are fine to view before selecting, camera is a CANON 60D,thanks for reading

Reinstall the Raw Support from the Support page:
    Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6.01
You need to exchange files in the System Library.
So be sure to backup your computer before patching the system library.
The RAW support files are installed in the System Library in the folder "/System/Library/CoreServices" Folder:
To open this folder, use the Finder's "Go" menu. Click the smiling Finder icon in the Dock to bring the Finder forward.
Then type the keyboard shortcut ⇧⌘G  (for "Finder > Go > Go to folder")  and copy and paste "/System/Library/CoreServices" into the text field.
In the Finder window that will open, delete both the files "RawCamera.bundle" and "RawCameraSupport.bundle". You will have to enter your Administrator password.
Download the current RAW support update from Apple's Support Site: Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6.01
In the Downloads folder you will find the disk image with the installer. Double click it to open and run and the installer.
    Then restart your Mac.
If the current support is still causing the problems after reinstalling, try to downgrade to Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.07

  • Adobe Lightroom 5.7 does not recognize Canon 60D raw files. I have Camera Raw plugin 8.7 installed. Is there solution?

Neither Bridge CS6 or Lightroom 5.7 can recognize Canon's raw file (Canon Camera 60D).
This only started a few months ago without any change that I made to the system
    Any clues?

Is this only when reading CR2 files on the camera memory card or also for CR2 files that were previously imported to your hard drive (i.e. ALL of your 60D CR2 files)?
LR 5.7.1 is only at Camera Raw 8.7. so OK. What Bridge, PS, and OS versions are installed? In Bridge go to Help> About Bridge
From inside Bridge launch any raw file and check the ACR version:
From inside PS go to Help> System Info and check PS and OS version:

  • Handling of RAW files question

I haven't purchased Aperture yet, waiting for the dust to settle from 1.5's release and make sure it's going to do what I need. However, I have a question about RAW files.
I understand there is only one 'master' copy stored, either in the Managed Library or Referenced. If I work on that RAW file in Aperture, make some colour, contrast, etc. adjustments to it, how are those changes saved? Is it in fact a sidecar file as in Bridge? And if I move this file to a different location, will the adjustments I made follow along?
For example, when I download a wedding all the images go into one folder. Currently, I use Bridge to sort and select the images I need to proof. I then move the selected images to a 'Selects' folder. If I make any adjustments to an image in the original folder (to make sure the image is usable), and then move it, will the adjustment follow?

Quote: So, you can make as many adjustments as you
like, Aperture will track them all (and you see them
as images in the interface, just like the original
RAW file), and whenever you export one of these
adjusted versions, it will make a real image for you
that everything else understands and can work with.
First, are the changes you make viewable in the
different versions and can you make different
versions of the same RAW file? For example, a B&W, a
Sepia and full colour. Do you see all three
    versions?
    Yes, absolutely.
Secondly, if you edit the image in PS, do some
retouching etc., I understand that this will now
become a tif or jpg. Is this new 'version' also
tracked within Aperture and how is tracked in
relation to the original RAW? Currently, when I do
work on an image like this, I'll save it with the
same name but in a different folder - 'processed'.
Yes, it comes back as a tif, or whatever you specify (can't be RAW anymore), and then it is automatically "stacked" with the original RAW and its versions. You can, if you want, put it somehwere else, but it defaults to being linked with the file it cames from. To see more on "stacks", see the Aperture tutorial(s) on the Apple website.
    cheers-

  • How do I open .CR2 Canon Raw Files in PS Elements 8 for iMac

When I open a .CR2 Canon Raw File (Canon T3i camera) in PSE 8 for iMac, I get all greys - no color.  It is showing as color as a .CR2 on my desktop - when I bring it into PSE, it is grey.  I chose first 16 bit, then 8 bit.  Same result.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks.  George

Thank you Barbara for pointing this out. Since I'm new to forum stuff so missed the catch here. Got exactly same information as you posted. Got to know that ACR 6.2 doesn't support T3i files. It's ACR 6.4 which supports them but is incompatible with PSE8 ( http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407111.html ).
So the solution seems to be either upgrade to a newer version of Elements or download the free DNG Converter ( http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html ) and convert the raw files to DNG.
Thanks again for correcting me here

  • Elements 7.. raw plugin 5.5 .. Dose not support raw files from Canon 60D

Elements 7 dose not support raw files Canon 60D. I have up dated the raw plugin to 5.5 still dose not support my cameras raw files

    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
The 60D is included from ACR 6.2 on.  I think that means you may need Elements 9 or later.

  • Editing RAW files after taking it in to Photoshop

Hello, I'll probably have a hard time explaining my question but I will do so to the best of my ability.
When I import to lightroom, I leave my RAW files (canon .cr2) as is and I do not convert them to DNG.
I am able to use presets to preview the finished file- and I notice I have exact color temp sliders when editing the RAW files.
I then reset the RAW file and take it into photoshop to perform mainly skin touchups- but when I save it back it saves as a PSD.
Then when I use my preset- im able to generally get the color close to what the preset looks like on RAW but there are still some things about the photo
that I can not exactly put my finger on- but they are different. I like the way the sliders change things when editing raw but not after saving as PSD or TIFF.
I know its not possible to "SAVE AS RAW" in photoshop to have all the same controls back in lightroom- but is there any way around this?
I know I could technically use the preset in lightroom BEFORE going into photoshop but I like using the preset as a final touch regarding color and
using the highlights shadows whites and blacks sliders.
Is there anyway to make my presets look exactly the same as they do on a RAW file but on a saved file from photoshop?
    Or is there any workaround?
    Thank you!

By the time you are editing in Photoshop you are no longer working on the raw image. Photoshop might indicate that you are, but it is only telling you the name of the file from which the image came. Photoshop cannot save raw images because it cannot edit raw image data. The conversion has already taken place. There is a workaround, sort of. Do is much as you can in Lightroom and then open into Photoshop as a smart object. Then you can return to Camera Raw from Photoshop to make adjustments on the raw image data. This works best however, if Lightroom and Camera Raw are from the same version.

  • Printing from Raw files?

I have been trying to print directly from Aperture to an Epson 4000 using the adjusted RAW files (Canon 1DMK2). I have the files looking great on the screen, I choose the printer and all of the correct printer settings but the prints are totally blue. If I export the RAW files to jpegs, then bring those jpegs into Aperture and print them using the same print settings they print just fine. Likewise if I use Adobe Bridge to adjust the raw files, then have them printed thru Photoshop using Contact Sheet, they print fine. It's only when trying to print from the RAW files within Aperture that I have problems.
Does anyone have success printing from RAW files to a printer?

The most likely answer to this question lies in a bug
apparently introduced in Aperture 1.5.1. Supposedly
1.5.0 was OK in this respect.
Anyway, if you print RAW using a Contact sheet
profile, the colors are messed up. Any printer. Any
    OS. Any camera.
Print that same picture in RAW using single photo on
a page and it will work fine.
Any other format besides RAW works fine in contact
sheets. Many of us are waiting for Apple to fix this
bug. In the meantime, you will indeed need to either
convert the picture to tiff or jpeg OR send it to
some other program to print (Photoshop, etc.)
Interestingly, if you hit print preview, a picture
will get created and loaded into Preview and it will
show you just how badly this is going to print.
Compare some RAWs in single and contact print
profiles to see how the same picture would be printed
    very differently. (without wasting ink)
It looks like GeneTucc had it right. I got the latest update that was released today (December 11) and the contact sheets print much better. Still have a long ways to go, but that's just the normal color mgmt issues.

  • DNG Converter 6.4 does not recognize any RAW files

    Hi,
I have updated DNG Converter from 6.2 RC to 6.3 and 6.4. DNG Converter 6.2 RC from Adobe Labs recognizes all my RAW files (Canon PowerShot S50, PowerShot SX1IS, EOS 400D). The official releases of 6.3 and 6.4 do not recognize any RAW files of these cameras.
I select a directory, where the raw files are located, but DNG Converter tells me that no files where selected. With 6.2 RC, I select the directory and everything just works fine.
    What's wrong with this picture?

  • Aperture 3(.2.1): overexposure on RAW files from EOS450D

    Hi all,
I'm trying to come to terms with the way Apertue 3 imports my RAW files (Canon EOS 450D/Digital Rebel XSi), in terms of exposure... Basically they seem to be overexposed by at least 2/3 of a stop on average, and possibly more.
In the release notes for Aperture 3.something I've found a note specific to my camera, stating "exposure lightened by 0.25", or something to that effect; alas what I find in everyday use seems to be much worse.
I've created an alternate profile for my camera RAWs in "RAW Fine Tuning", copied and modified from the stock Apple one, but it seems not to better the situation.
Is there an easy way for automatically managing exposure when importing, so that pictures don't get overblown by default?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Check the version of the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update that is installed. Your camera should be supported by update 3.13: The version of the raw support is shown in the About panel: from the main menu bar:
         Aperture > About Aperture
Supported by Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.13
    Canon EOS-1D X
    Nikon D800E
    Nikon D3200
    Olympus OM-D E-M5
    Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GF5
    Sony Alpha SLT-A57
    Download the latest from here:
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.14
If you have the latest raw support installed, but Aperture does not recognize the format, try to register the raw support for your camera with the launch services db, see this post by Alan Roseman:
Re: Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
But also read the following post, that explain how this is supposed to work and to correct the typo in the command
In short: Quit Aperture, open the terminal, paste the  follwing text in (all in one single line) and hit return; then reboot the system.
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -R /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library

  • Problems emptying RAW files from Recycle Bin

    Hi
I am not sure, but think my problem is connected with Lightroom 1.4.1
When I delete RAW files from disc via Lightroom, they go into the Recycle Bin. However, I am unable to delete them from the bin without using an unlocker program. This is because when I choose to delete individual RAW files from the bin (or choose completely empty bin)I get a message saying that file Dq(number) cannot be deleted as it may be in use by another program. But no other program is open.
I think this only applies to RAW files (Canon CR2) where I have created an editable file in Photoshop CS3. I am fed up with the tedious task of removing each individual Dq/CR2 file from the Recycle bin (the unlocker program will not let me batch delete) and suspect a workaround involving removing the CR2 files from the Lightroom catalogue and then deleting them from their source folder might work.
However, this semms a clumsy way of having to do thistask.
Has anyone else come across this please and does anyone have an elegant solution? Oh, the files concerned are all on an external hard disc, but I cannot see why this should affect things.

Hi, Andrew. I do not have an external HD, so I am not sure if this is related. LR 1.4's seems to do some odd things with files that it sees as Read Only, such as from a CD, DVD, or external drive. Maybe it has something to do with this. Also, can you exit LR, then dumb Recycle Bin normally?
