Question RE Single Orientation

I have a client who wants to do a horizonal only layout. No vertical.
How does DPS render the pages, when it's held in a vertical position, considering there are no vertical folios only horizonal?????

First you should consider yourself fortunate to have client who
understands that dual orientation is a waste of time and effort.
Then you design to whatever orientation the client wants because I
strongly disagree with you assessment of what most people do.
I haven't done a dual orientation app in years and have done a fairly
even amount of portrait/landscape projects. Take a look in the app store
and I think you'll find almost all major publications are single
orientation only. Most print publications choose portrait because it's
easier to adapt the design from the original print version.

Importing layouts as PDFs, single orientation now rotates on iPad

The single orientation mag I make... I've just started importing multiple articles, I only publish vertical orientation but now my iPad will flip to a grey screen when you hold it in horizontal. It never used to do this.
What am I doing wrong?

If you imported them in iTunes, then they will show up in iBooks. At the top of iBooks you will see "Collections" next to the "Store" button, tap Collections and switch to PDFs, your imported PDFs should appear in there on the bookshelf.

Question about page Orientation

Hey guys,
I have a couple of questions,
I Know there are issues between Safari and acrobat's browswer plugins, without having to resort to unsinstalling adobe.
Also If I do continue to use adobe reader, is there way to reverse or mirror image the pdf and save that preset to that printer so it happens everytime.
I am trying to print out tickets using pdf's online, and have to rotate the image twice so that it appears upside down, before the ticket will match the paper, and print correctly.
We have staff, that don`t necessarily work all the time, and keeping this process to a single "just hit print" type of scenario (simpliest way possible), is what were trying to do.
So I would like to adjust, the pdf reader to automaticly rotate the pdf the minute the pdf is loaded online.
Any help is greatly apreciated,

I apalogize for that, it wasen`t that I was trying to ask the same question because I didn`t get a respnse, it was more that I was trying to better explain myself, and clairfy the question. The earlier post I admit was a bit confusing, and I have since narrowed the problem a bit.

Question on Video orientation in Quicktime

My wife's camera, a Kodak EasyShare C875, saves its movies as quicktime movies.
90% of the time, this is fine.
However, she has one where she put the camera on its side to take the video with a 'long' view top to bottom.
All we want to do is change the orientation. Does QT pro do this? Can I download it? It just seems to want to 'ship' to me.
Are there any other editors out there that can do this?
I'm pretty frustrated.

Yes, that video size will work on iPods (that support video, of course), I have several 320x240 video Podcasts on my iPod Classic and iPod Touch. More important is the rest of the specification for video.
I'm not an expert on this, but typically the common problem seen on these forums is that a video Podcast will not transfer to an iPod because it's not in the correct format. There is a conversion facility (in iTunes) for videos, but my advice is don't rely on that, because users do not always succeed with the conversion, for various reasons.
The size is okay, in fact you will see that 640 by 480 is mentioned. But it's all the additional encoding, frame rate, audio etc. I've clipped the following from the iPod Classic specifications:
H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
As I said, I don't fully understand these specifications, partly because I don't produce video Podcasts, but hopefully the specs above are familiar to you in the programme you use and that I have partly answered your question. Perhaps someone else may chip in with comments.

Question about Single Sign On

Hi Gurus!
I have a question about the following scenario:
The login in EP6 is with the NT User (adriano.oliveira), but to access the SAP applications I need to use another User (aoliveira - the size of the NT User is bigger than SAP User length).
I know this works with user mapping, but the problem is that each user will need to configure his mapping (5000 users). Then I think the option is to use the SAP Logon tickets.
My doubt is: Is it possible to validate a user id at login (in the EP6 SP10) and generate the client certificate with another user id???
Important: In the AD (Active Directory), for each NT User id, there is a field with the SAP User id. I could use this field...

Question re single account upgrade

Hi - I am in the UK and have a current single-app Photoshop subscription. I want to take advantage of the special offer discount to upgrade to the full CC, however when I choose "pick a plan" for existing CS6 holders and then go through to the next screen and try to chose the £17.58 option, it takes me to a general CC screen, not an account update. If I go to manage my account, I only see the option to upgrade for £45+ a month. Can you help?

Question about single sata faq

when i do the whole raid setup
do i loss my partitions?
been having problems with installing xp on sata (see my other thread)

It's unclear to me if you already have a RAID array (at least 2 drives) or just a single drive. If you have these partitions, you want to save, on a SATA drive that was not originally part of a RAID array when these partitions were created. Then creating a RAID array will delete those partitions. If the drive was part of an array then it has to stay with the other drives or these partitions will be lost.

Question about Object-Orientated design for GUI'S

Hi everyone,
I am designing a simple GUI, which basically enables a user to input and retreive data.
So I have a prototype GUI lets call it "myFrame". It extends JFrame, and I place my components onto myFrame, JButtons, JTextfields etc. I have the GUI set up the way I want it, so I move onto implementing the actionListeners.
The problem is that one of the components I have placed on myFrame has its own mouseListener. Its a type of Icon (i created in a seperate class)which extends JComponent, and I thought it would be sensible to give it control of its own mouseListener, so it cuts down on the code within the myFrame class.
But I now realise that I can't alter the other components on myFrame from within the mouseListener in the icon class. I know the icon class doesn't have access to any of myFrames methods or instance fields, so how do I correctly implement this. Surely the answer isn't to bung all the code together into one class?
visually what I have so far looks like this
SERVER <---Requests---> myFrame --------> IconList ---------> Icon
the IconList class looks up a server to update its array of Icons[]. But when one individual Icon is clicked on myFrame, i want its mouseListener to load some of its values onto myFrame's GUI components.
I hope I'm making myself clear, im sorry if this seems like a muddled incoherent question, but any advice would be great. I only need to be shown the correct way to design, and then i carry on coding happily. If this kind of design is way off, please let me know!!

You can absolutely do work on the frame from the mouse listener--It just needs an instance. i.e.

That said, what you'll see more often is a Model-View-Control approach, wherein the Control (the mouse listener in your case) effects the Model and the Model notifies the View to update its display, rather than the Control updating the view directly. That's the extreme overview version, lots of good hits on google if you're interested beyond that

Question about Object Oriented Design in Oracle

Hi everyone,
Right now I'm updating my oracle skills, years ago without programming (last time with Oracle 7.3 :O)
Well, if I have to design a new system with this features:
1.- Using Oracle as DB
2.- Web enable
3.- OO Design
My questions:
1.- What is the best practice to make database design? E-R + Object Types? I mean is better making the design on Oracle directly or in Java-UML environment?
2.- I was thinking in programming with Forms, but it works well with OO design?
3.- If I want to program some web services based, Could I do it with PL/SQL and Jdeveloper?
please if you know about articles and whitepapers about OO design approach with Oracle let me know!

I have been involved in some of these projects that have used Java, C#, VB, C++ etc. as front-end languagaes. I have been able to implement these projects successfully using the following approach:
1. create a relational model of the database - third-normal form (assuming it is an OLTP application)
2. Write PL/SQL code (packages and procedures mainly)
3. Interact with the front-end layer by sending and receiving ref curosors and/or PL/SQL tables
If you want to use Forms (I am assuming Oracle Forms) then there may not be much need for an OO design. Embeeding SQL in the forms will do most of what you want.

Question about single user licence for design premium cs6

Heya, I just purchased the student version of design premium cs6 and I am wondering what the rules are in the case that my computer hard drive fails.
Would I be able to use it on another computer or do I have to buy a new set of software?
Are there any things I should know about installing like backing up the software files somewhere? If so, I would appreciate if anyone could tell me how to do that.
Also I would like to know if I can use my serial number for a mac version of the software or if I have to buy a whole new set.

You have 2 activations and those can be reset when a computer no longer is accessible, otherwise one simply would use Help-->Deactivate and the like to manage activations. Serial numbers are platform specific, so you cannot use the same license on Mac and Windows.

Question concerning orientations

Hi,
My question is concerning H and V orientations.
While testing I noticed the following:
If I create a folio file with a few articles with only H orientation, everything works fine. I can preview with content viewer in ipad. But when I add one other orientation to only one of the articles, no updates will be detected in the ipad content viewer. In the folio organizer the other orientation is visible however.
Only when I add the second orientation to ALL the remaining articles in the same folio will content viewer detect an available update.
My question:
If I only add one other orientation to one of the articles in a folio (so not all the articles, just one), and I publish the app, will this work?
I had a scenario where I wanted to create a simple comic book where I have one page in the vertical orientation, and a dual page (spread) in the horizontal orientation. So if you read the comic book horizontally you don't need as many pages because you only need half the amount of pages.
So suppose I have 10 comic book pages, I need 10 pages in the vertical orientation, but only 5 pages in the horizontal orientation. Can this work?

Hi Bart,
The basic rule – either single orienation or both – applies to whole folio. You can't have whole folio in single orientation with some articles using both. And you are not allowed to have a single orientation folio with some articles vertical only and some horizontal only.
Your comic book can be made as a single article folio with 5 page horizontal document and 10 page vertical document. Don't use Indesign spreads in DPS, only single pages.
Other method (more DPS-like) is to make 5 articles, where horizontal layout will have one page per article, and vertical layout will have 2 pages. Building your folio this way, lets you keep sync between orientations in each article when adding interactivity.

Some Single Edition and Single Folio Questions

First of all, sorry about my english, is not as good as I'd like.
I've some questions about single edition and single folio projects, the process is not too clear for me:
With single folio, is possible to protect access through user/password? If it's possible... what's the way to get it working?
How many time does adobe need to give you the IPA file for the appstore when you work with a sigle folio project?
I've read with single edition you can't update your app, so if you publish in the App Store a book, and you find some mistakes... how can you solve them? Is possible to solve them buying another license or you need to load an complete new app?

I think I can answer this one:
"How many Single Edition can I purchase? I have 16 small brochures for one client to publish to Apple's App Store."
Having 16 brochures to publish, it would be unwise to buy 16 SE codes for$395 each. Buying Professional Edition for one year (12x $495) would spare you $1200, and give possibility to publish even 1000 small brochures during the period.

Create two Quickpoll with different campaign name and start ongoing..
Next create iview for each quickpoll by using KM QuickPoll iView Template enter the corresponding campaign name for the quickpoll iview.
Next create one JspDynPage component in NWDS
In that JSP file

I would only add that in FlexPod we are trying to create a highly available solution and "flexible" solution; Nexus switching helps us deliver on both with vPC and unified ports.
NPV equats to end-host mode which allows the system to present all of the servers as N ports to the external fabric. In this mode, the vHBAs are pinned to the egress interfaces of the fabric interconnects. This pinning removes the potential of loops in the SAN fabric. Host based multipathing of the vHBAs account for potential uplink failures. The NPV mode (end-host mode) simplifies the attachment of UCS into the SAN fabric and that is why it is in NPV mode by default.
So for your last question, I will have to put my Product Manager hat on so bear with me.   First off there is no drawback to enabling the NPIV feature (none that I am aware of) the Nexus 5000 platform simply offers you a choice to design and support multiple FC initiators (N-Ports) per F-Port via NPIV. This allows for the integration of the FI end-host mode described above. I imagine being a unfied access layer switch, the Nexus team enabled standard Fibre Channel switching capability and features first. The implementatin of NPIV is a customer choice based on their specific access layer requirements.
