Question RE: uninstalling Flash

Hello,
Pls tell me how to "delete directories," step 9 in document for uninstalling Flash.
Specs: OS X 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10
Thanks,
eliz_f

The uninstaller is the installer. If you have the original download, run it from that. If not, there's an emergency uninstaller in Applications>Utilities. You run it like you're going to install, only when you get to the screen where you chose "Install Components", this time you choose "Remove Components".
Your iphoto problem sounds like you set PSE as your external editor. You can undo that in the iphoto prefs.

  • Question about uninstalling flash player

I've recently had a problem with flash player videos and ads stuttering.  Anything that works off flash player always has constant stutters in it on all my browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer and Google Chrome) ever since a power outtage that turned off my PC while I was online.  It's been this way for 2 months now.
I'd like to uninstall flash player from my PC and do a clean install to see if that might fix the problem.
Will the uninstaller automatically remove flash player from all browsers?  Will I have to run it with each browser open or does it automatically wipe if off my system?
The main reason why I ask this is because I have to update two of my browsers separately (IE and Firefox).

Yes, the uninstaller will install all installed Flash Player instances; download it from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
Use the 64-bit uninstaller if your Flash Player is installed in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
Use the 32-bit uninstaller if Flash Player is only installed in C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash

  • Was it a mistake to uninstall Flash Player from Windows 8?

I have a Lenovo Y580 Laptop with IE10 windows 8.  I was not able to view embedded videos on websites and searched the problem online.  Somewhere I ran in to information about glitches with Flash Player and Windows 8.  I found instructions on how to delete Flash Player files from Windows 8 using a combination of the steps on the websites below.  Now I am able to view embedded videos but I don't understand exactly what I did/whether I will have issues in the future due to deleting Flash.  Now when I type in the search box for Flash Player it shows a Flash Player 32 Bit Flash Settings Manager.  Im confused as to what I deleted and what the cons to this may be as  I am not super computer savvy

    Hi,
Flash Player is integrated with Internet Explorer in Windows 8. It's unnecessary to install or uninstall Flash Player.
Since you have uninstalled, you may want to look at this document for reinstalling Flash Player: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html

Hello, and welcome to Apple Support!
You will need Flash to watch this video. you can download it HERE once you install it you will be able to view this video. There is no alternative to Flash that I am aware of.
One question: Could you view this video before you attempted to uninstall Flash?

  • I have uninstalled Flash, and tried many different suggestions, but Firefox still crashes every few minutes. WHY? Check crash reports for najibul.huq@

There are hundreds of Crash reports with my email address on it. I don't know what is causing it. There is no indication and help anywhere that has indicated it. Flash seemed to be problematic, so I tried uninstalling flash completely and using WITHOUT flash - still the same.
I have uninstalled FF and re-installed it with new file from getfirefox.com - still the exact same.
Is there anyone who can tell me what to do? Please review my crash reports under my email address, and advise what I can do. My last few crash IDs:

I'm going crazy with this. How can I get the Old firefox that worked. I think anything after v12-13 is complete load of crap that doesn't work!
I am using Windows XP, is that a reason? How can I get a Xp-friendly version of FF?

    Thank you for the response.
I restarted in Safe Mode, but it crashed again in 2 minutes. Can you decipher the Crash report? Because I don't understand anything from it. No way to figure what is exactly causing it.... The Troubleshoot did not help at all, very basic, and irrelevant info. I have hundreds of crash reports, but here's the latest ones, PLease Help:

  • Large file folder with question mark is flashing on screen.

Just turned on computer for the first time and a large file folder with a question mark is flashing on the screen. I am unable to do anything and have restarted and it does the same thing.  Please help!

It does this when it can't see the operating system. You didn't give much information but I'm assuming it's a brand new mini and you aren't using any external drives for the operating system. If that's the case then yes, reinstall OS X. Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the chime, hold down the "C" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your Mac to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
If reinstallation isn't possible, or if the problem continues after reinstallation, then you need to exchange it for another, because something is keeping the operating system on the drive from being read.

  • Using GPO to uninstall flash and then install latest version

    Hello,
I wonder if someone could help me please.  Please bare with me as I am new to Group Policy, Scripting and Command Line usage.
Given the recent security vulnerabilities in any Flash Player prior to 12.0.0.44 we need to get the latest version on all our clients asap.  We have about 1000 clients ranging from Windows XP SP3 (95% of computers) and the rest a mix of Windows 7 x32/x64 bit and one Windows 8 machine.  We have a very old Server 2003 SP2 tertiary Domain Controller setup and do not have the necessary GPO extensions to do some of the more useful things like computer file placement (for mms.cfg configs etc).
I apologise for my ignorance and lack of understanding with these things however I'm looking to do (what others seem to accomplish so easily over the Web) just two things:
    1) Uninstall Flash Player from client machines using a "Computer-based" Group Policy (Note: This could be ANY version from version 10 to 12 so we don't have the luxury of "upgrading" via Group Policy as no previous policies exist for this, and it has to be a computer-based policy because we don't want the software to install for every user that logs on and also because they don't have Admin privileges)
    2) Install the latest version of Flash Player (12.0.0.44) once the previous version have been removed (cleanly with no corruption/left-over registry keys etc)
I should point out I have successfully deployed the latest version to a test machine using a computer-based policy using a simple MSI package, however it installs it "alongside" the current version.  This is not what we want. We want ALL traces of old version to be removed regardless of version and the LATEST version to be installed in its place.
Here's what I have tried so far:
    1) Using a computer-based logon script called 'flash.bat' that contains the following in an attempt to remove existing versions:
start /wait "\\<UNC path to network share>uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall" (Note: "Authenticated Users have 'read/execute' permissions to this share)
**This caused issues with an elevated command window being left open indefinately, so I added a /B to the end which solved that, however the script didn't work.
I tried different permutations of adding the double quotes after the "exe", around the "-uninstall" etc to no avail.  I even tried introducing a time-delay by pinging localhost at the beginning of the script to see if that made a difference, but it didn't.
    2) Using a 3rd-party MSI Packaging Tool (ECMO Enterprise Edition) to "capture"  the uninstall process on a clean WinXP SP3 build, which then creates a compiled MSI which you use to deploy via Group Policy as normal - however this didn't work as it just installed other "ECMO package" files in its place and ignores flash completely.  I was going to try another MSI tool but haven't had the time to do that as yet.
I'm a bit stuck at the moment..... not sure what to do next and I've been tasked to get this resolved for the whole organisation with little to no knowledge of the processes involved (harsh I know but that's the reality of my job unfortunately; things just "shoehorned" or "slopey shouldered" onto me)
Any advice would be very much appreciated
    Kindest Regards
    David.

I found a solution in the form of this script, which was customised to meet our needs.  http://forums.adobe.com/message/4583529
The only issue is the "check" part is flaky (although this could be due to DC replication intervals [we did force replication however]).  We need a way for a flag to be set and checked so that the script doesn't run everytime at startup; because this will undoubtedly cause our Helpdesk to be flooded with calls from disgruntled users complaining that their login time has increased by 13.7 seconds.....

  • Uninstall flash 9 = explorer.exe destroyed

    Hello,
I am trying to uninstall flash 9 or update to v10 but once I uninstall it and reboot, my explorer.exe can't start anymore.
After the Windows XP login, explorer.exe is launched but crashes within a second. Same thing if I try to launch it again with Task manager > file > new task. Same problem in Safe mode.
I tried to repair it, reinstall it, clean the registry manually,  downgrade to IE6 or reinstall IE7 or the SP2 for XP (can't install IE8 or SP3 at work but it works on every other PC with IE7 and SP2). Nothing worked and I had to do a system restore to get my explorer back after each uninstallation...
Any idea that could save me from a format?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your reply!
We installed flash 9 with the .msi package, uninstalled in add/remove, or when upgrading the v10.
Yesterday I installed Adobe creative suite Premium 4 and got the same problem, that's why I came back and upped the post. In system restore, the restore point created during the installation was called "uninstallation of flash 9".
Nothing in event viewer about explorer.
Edit: If i reinstall flash 9, explorer comes back after a restart...

  • Need help uninstalling Flash Player to do a clean install.

    Hi,
I'm feeling pretty stupid now, since I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.
    I'm running Windows 7/ 64 bit. I've got Flash player version 11.1.102.63
I'm having Spotify problems, and Spotify support asked me to uninstall and reinstall Flash Player before reinstalling Spotify. But I can't seem to get the blessed thing to uninstall.
I'm following the directions here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html
I've killed everything killable on the toolbar. I've checked with Task Manager to see if any applications are running (none are). There are still processes running I've run the uninstaller in Administration mode and in user mode and in every mode I can think of, but when I restart after uninstalling, I've still got the Flash Player installed-- same version. I get no error messages when I run it, it just (apparently) doesn't work.)
Any ideas? Any stupid mistakes I might be making?
    Thanks!
    Cheryl

  • Can't Uninstall Flash CS3 Professional

Yes I've looked around the web and Adobe forums. There's a whole mess of things I'm trying to fix right now so I might as well start from top and keep it compact.  Scroll down to where it says "Let's recap" if you wanna get a summary of my technical issues. It may scare away some of you, but please at least someone respond. (ps all links are put here purposefully by me)
I joined a site called newgrounds and became fascinated by flash movies there. I found a link which lead me to Flash CS3 Professional free trial download page.  I installed the program without a single problem. But after installation & restarting I couldn't find flash in there at all instead I found these (screenshot). I asked for help on newgrounds, and got advice to install CS4 instead. First I attempted to uninstall CS3, but it will only let me uninstall the Flash Player 9 ActiveX Component and not the program. I looked this up and the solution seemed to be CS3Clean Script. However I have two problems: first off I can't backup my files like recommended because the backup drive doesn't have enough room, which means 7.63GB out of 10GB is somehow being used (screenshot). If I decided to run CS3Clean Script without backing up my data I'd get a message telling me I need to install Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. (screenshot) Which leads me to my second problem.  When I run the file to install "Windows Installer CleanUp" (just downloaded)  I get this error. What does it mean? Because I am on the Administrator's account so I don't understand why I don't have privileges.
    That's all of it!
    Let's recap:
+Can't Uninstall "Flash CS3 Professional" Trial
+Can't use "CS3Clean Script" to Uninstall Flash unless "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" is installed
+Can't Install "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" because of this error
Minor-ish problem slightly related---> Can't back up data in case something else goes wrong!
ps Did I scare any of y'all away yet?

    Hi,
Google Chrome pre-installs the Flash Player in their browser.  That is why it is showing as installed in the screen-shot you posted.  Firefox does not pre-install Flash Player.  You didn't specify how you uninstalled Flash Player.  Did you use the Flash Player entry in the Control Panel or the uninstaller?  The uninstaller will uninstall all versions of Flash Player on the system, except for the version pre-installed with Google Chrome, however, you can disable that by navigating to chrome://plugins.  You may need to click on the '+' sign next to 'details' in the upper right to view all installed plugins.

  • Boot into os9 shows ?question mark? flashing - How do I fix this?

Hi All - old g4 - from snow leo i was able to boot into os9 classic - but I needed to go farther and boot directly into os9
    - so i chose it from startup disk prefs
    - it came up with os9 happy face for 1/2 second then moved to a page with floppy icon and ?question mark? flashing inside - now it was stuck on this even with off/on
    - I tried all the known keys etc. to restart in 10.6 - nothing worked... I had to remove the drive and start from external - then xxxx and re-chose 10.6 so I'm back to work...
BUT: I would like to fix the os9 partition that always worked in the past so :
Q: HOW DO I FIX THE -  floppy icon and ?question mark? flashing inside - and get it to see os9?

Using OS 9 in Classic isn't quite the same as booting directly into OS 9. When installing OS 9, one step that must be done in order to boot to it is to install the disk driver. If you didn't do that, then you can't boot into OS 9.
You might be able to get it to work by running Disk Repair (I think that's what it's called. Can't remember for sure) within Classic. Somewhere in the menus you have the option to install the driver on the drive you choose. See if that works.
If not, the only fix after that is to boot to the OS 9 disk, do an erase and install, and make sure to choose the option to install the disk driver. So back up both your OS 9 and OS X installations first. If OS 9 is on its own partition, then you can do the Erase and Install to that drive without affecting the OS X drive/partition.
Afterwards, either copy your third party apps back to the OS 9 partition from your backup, or reinstall them.
