Question re: wmp 9 and flip4mac

I was trying to subcribe to watch nebraska football games via their website. Before you subscribe they have you test to see if it will work on your computer. I clicked on the the link and it opened up my WMP9 with an error message reading: specified stream type is not recogniezed.
I read some great advice here on the boards and downloaded flip4mac. I tried again. Flip4mac opened up, but still nothing. Do you think that the trouble is due to DRM from the website and Flip4Mac not supporting it?
And, should I uninstall WMP9 now that I have Flip4Mac installed?

The Flip4Mac plugin does not support any Microsoft DRM at all, and WMP9 for Mac does not support past version 1.3 of Microsoft's DRM, I believe. So if Nebraska is using Microsoft's current DRM for their stream, then you're SOL. This is the case with watching online courses from my school; they use DRM'ed WMV streams, so I have to watch them on a Windows computer.

I have QT Pro 7.1.2 and the free version of Flip4Mac (2.1.0.33). I heard about problems with Flip4Mac and 7.1.3 so I held off on that update. Is anyone using QT Pro 7.1.5 and Flip4Mac with any succuess?

What I am trying to say is that the only problem that I know of concerning updating from 7.1.2 to 7.1.3 still persists with 7.1.5.

Future buyer of W530 with questions on screen type and GPU.

I'm contemplating buying a W530 laptop to replace my aged Acer Aspire 5517. Anyway, I have some questions regarding screen type and graphics cards. One, my current Acer has a 16x9 HD screen that works perfectly fine for me, unless I go outside, so is it really worth the extra 200 bucks to upgrade to the 1920x1080 screen, or is that just overkill? same question regarding making a choice between the NVIDIA Quadro K1000M or K2000M, again, is it worth the money and what"s the biggest difference? Now I'm not a hardcore gamer, I mostly surf the web, do my work, and play a few games that are not really too demanding on the GPU.

The 1920 x 1080 screen offered on the W530 is one of the best TN panels on the market so it's a worthwhile upgrade. Upgrading from a K1000M to a K2000M isn't a good idea unless you either spend a good amount of time playing games (or want higher settings playable) or need the extra power for CAD.
On my W530 , I upgraded the screen to the 1080P one and kept the K1000M GPU.

Many Questions on Windows 8 and Bootcamp

Hi. I have a couple questions question on windows 8 and bootcamp. I know this is probably on the internet somewhere, but i can't find it anywhere if it is. So please don't strike me down for repeat questions.
My first question is wether or not widows 8 will run on the current version of bootcamp. I know that it is not fully compatible but can it be installed with few issues since the underlying code for windows 7 and 8 should be relatively similair. I have read a posting on line that says this is possible but i wanted a second opinion. I have a 64 bit version system builder edition shipping to me right now, is this ok.
My second question is when (if ever) the patches come out for winodws 8 to run perfectly on bootcamp, will I just be able to download them, Install the patches and everything will be just fine. Would/ could it be done with out having to reinstall the operating system. This is important because a system builder lisence can only be installed once and then i have to buy another copy of windows 8 for $100.

in terms of updates to win8 then as far as windows8 goes it's running on a normal "pc" not on a mac it's not virtualization here so everything works as normal
I bought an imac 2011 version 22" 4GB ....
I installed windows7 ultimate 64bit on it
since I bought the digital update to windows 8 pro
updated over the internet (you download an exe and take it from there)
it updated fine it use the windows7 drivers so everything in terms of mac stuff works as before
I let it update the amd video card driver and got a lot of crashes at bootup
rolled back to the bootcamp win7 drivers and it's a lot better
sure every now and then startup result in a crash but a reboot always get me into win8
play games and program in win8 never had a cash when I get in and because it's native games run great
likely when the official apple win8 support comes along I will stop getting the odd crash at boot into win8

Launch pad has question mark in icon and won't launch

A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Simple question about table structure and HR in BW

i need to following data from HR:
current FTE, employee number, cost place
i dont think the current FTE is stored per employee. Therefor is would need a list that contains:
mutation start date, mutation end date, FTE, employee, cost place
i think cost place is a custom field.
my question : what tables names and field names do i need?

For Head Count you can use 0HR_PA_0 datasource and the other Employee details like start date and end date you can get them from employee master data and FTE can be calculated from the Emloyee Master Data and Head count data.

Questions on Client Failver and Fast Failover

've few questions regarding Client Failover and Fast Faiolver of Oracle Database HA. Before I ask those questions I would like to explain my environment. Below are the details.
- We have two physical locations called 'ABC' and 'PQR'
- ABC is the primary site.
- PQR is the standby site.
- In ABC, we have Oracle RAC database (11.2.0.2) with two nodes.
- In PQR, we have a single server standalone database (11.2.0.2) with ASM. This is not a RAC.
- Data Guard has been configured between ABC and PQR and it is working as expected.
- Please note that we have a licence for Active Data Guard.
- We have Oracle Identity Management products at both ABC and PQR and they are going to use RAC database as a primary database which is in ABC.
- We did not configure Data Guard broker yet.
We want to achieve below goals:
Goal 1:
Whenever RAC primary goes down completely, standby database should become primary database AUTOMATICALLY and it should allow read/write operation.
I guess this is called 'Fast Failover'. Please let me know if I am wrong.
Questions :
- To make this happen, Do I need to configure Data Guard Broker so that standy database becomes primary when RAC goes down completely with planned or unplanned outage.
- Let's say RAC goes down completely, how long does Data Guard broker take to make standby db as Primary.
- What about the client/application who already connected to RAC.
- Let's standby DB has become as primary and after sometime if RAC comes back , Does data guard automatically changes the role of RAC to primary ?

As I explained above, all Oracle IDM products and applications speak to RAC database they only know about RAC database which is primary.They are not aware of standby database.
- Whenever a client session is in progress with RAC primary database, if RAC goes down completely , we would like to expect client session should get transferred standby datbase without loosing session information . I have a quick question regarding best practice and dedicating NIC's for traffic seperation for FT, NFS, ISCSI, VM traffic etc. I get that its best practice to try and separate traffic where you can and especially for things like FT however I just wondered if there was a preferred method to achieving this. What I mean is ...
- Is it OK to have everything on one switch but set each respective portgroup to having a primary and failover NIC i.e FT, ISCSI and all the others failover (this would sort of give you a backup in situations where you have limited physical NICs.
- Or should I always aim to separate things entirely with their own respective NICs and their own respective switches?
During the VCAP exam for example (not knowing in advance how many physical NIC's will be available to me) how would I know which stuff I should segregate on its own separate switch? Is there some sort of ranking order of priority /importance? FT for example I would rather not stick on its own dedicated switch if I could only afford to give it a single NICs since this to me seems like a failover risk.

I know the answer to this probably depends on however many physical NICs you have at your disposal however I wondered if there are any golden 100% rules for example FT must absolutely be on its own switch with its own NICs even at the expence of reduced resiliency should the absolute worst happen? Obviously I know its also best practice to seperate NICs by vender and hosts by chassis and switch etc

Does anyone know why the mcxquery and the dscl . -mcxread commands don't show any info about MCX managed login items & printers? The System Profiler's "Managed Client" section does. Id like to see info regarding managed printers and managed login items using the mcx tools. I have Mac users running 10.5.2 with both login items and printers that are pushed out to them via MCX. The System Profiler app shows all of their policies, but the dscl . -mcxread and mcxquery tools dont. Why not?

How do you "call procedures/functions" without sql code? You need at least the call statement like
{call myProc(?,?,?)}that you wrap into a CallableStatement.
Other than that: when you switch off autocommit, you need to call commit/rollback at the end. Usually, if you don't commit/rollback a non-autocommitted connection, the transaction get's committed/rollbacked when you close the connection - that depends on the JDBC driver. But it's never a good idea to ommit the commit/rollback calls on a non-autocommit connection. Usually you enclose your code in a try/catch block like this:
con.setAutocommit(false);
try {
   con.commit();
} catch (Exception e) {
   con.rollback();
} finally {
    con.setAutocommit(true); //or:

How to make Random questions work without closing and restarting?

I have a quiz using random question slides and random pools.
The random slides display random questions when I run the CP4 file, let it close then relaunch it. I'm using an LMS.
I would like to be able to repeat the quiz again without closing and relaunching, but my method does not work.
I tried using a button (retake) on the last slide to 'jump to' slide 1 when clicked. The quiz does repeat, but show the exact same questions.
I thought there might be a variable that would reset the quiz, but could not find one.
Does anyone have method to do this?

I don't know of a way. My experience is the same as yours. The quiz questions are selected and shuffled when the lesson is launched. When 'retake' is clicked, the quiz repearts the same questions. The only way to get a new set of questions is to close and relaunch it.
I suppose there's be some function to invoke or array to manipulate via AS, but I've no idea what that may be...
So no help here, just backing what you're seeing.
