Question regarding Aluminum front cover of Macbook pro late 2011

Hi, this is user name Jae. I have a problem with macbook pro front cover. The front cover has aluminum skin off at the right corner, and I was wondering what can I do to fix this issue? Should I take it to Apple and have them fix? or Should I paint it with silver color?  If you suggest me to paint it with silver color, what kind of product should I use to color this aluminum skin? Please let me know thanks.

jhtak,  From the looks, there is very little problem there, I would just use a Sanford silver paint pen and touch it up.  Nothing to be worried about.  First use a little rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth with the MBP turned off, and unplugged from the power adapter. you should be able to clean a good amount of the discoloeation off with that.  Then you can touch up,(carefully) with a Sanford silver paint pen. Let the alcohol dry completely, then rub it again with a soft cloth.  Then use the paint pen to touch up the scuffs, use little "dabs" as opposed to "drawing" the paint on.  All the while have the power off, and power adapter unplugged.  It should come quite nice.   Thank you for the photos, this is nothing to be concered about.   Hope this helps you.  All the best

  • Graphic problem in 13'' macbook pro late 2011

I have problem with my 13'' i7 macbook pro (late 2011) . for instance when i swipe up/down with 4 fingers, my apps or docs minimize So logy and slowly as well as when i want full screen my browser or other application, it do it very bad with some vibration and i dont know what do i have to do?
is this problem for my graphic card or is for Lion ios?
as the matter of fact , i bough this mac 2 months ago.
Im wondering if someone can help me in this regard!

Since it is less than a year old call AppleCare: 800-SOS-APPL (in the US).
Have your Mac's serial number ready: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1349
After you wait on hold for a very long time they ask you some frustratingly basic questions like is it charged and did you spill water on it etc., they will talk you through some basic troubleshooting such as an SMC reset. In the end they will offer to schedule an appointment at a Genius Bar where they will fix whatever is wrong. It won't cost you anything (unless you spilled water on it etc).
You can do all this yourself:
    SMC reset:
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Genius Bar Reservations:
    http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/
You can test the hardware yourself also, if it reports something wrong tell them what it is.

  • Macbook Pro (Late 2011) Won't read game

My Macbook Pro (Late 2011) plays dvds (I used Family guy to test) but will not read the disk for Football Manager 2015 despite it being Mac compatible. THe disk itself runs on PC so isn't faulty. Any thoughts?
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)

Thanks, OrangeMarlin.  Lots to learn about in land of the Macs.
Point taken on the driver.  The reason I'm hesitant to assume it's power related is because everything else works.  Here is a short list of other devices I've used it for in the week or so I've owned this machine:
iPad (connected fine and charged iPad to full)
Seagate GoFlex (connects fine, but this device also uses wall power)
Samsung Spinpoint HDD (in an aluminum Rosewill enclosure, also uses wall power)
iPod Classic (fifth gen, 30GB), also charges
    Samsung Captivate (Android phone), charges
I got this machine from the Apple store last week, when I swapped out my original purchase MBP due to a screen defect.  I asked them to run a gamet of tests to ensure everything OK, and they complied (at least claimed to).  I assume if I brought it back, with the drive, they would be able to test for a power issue, correct?
    Thanks again.

  • 16GB HYNIX for my MacBook Pro late 2011

It is taking me so long to find a 16GB memory by hynix (8X2) to install in my Macbook Pro late 2011 . 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 . 1333MHz DDR3 .
Need a to upgrade and i think that i need a 204PINN SODIMM
    DDR#-PC3-10600 .cl9 Unbeffered.NON - ECC 1.35V.1024MegX64.
Please correct me if I am wrong . And if you can assist me where to get it Or maybe SAMSUNG Memory .,Either one is Good but do not Prefere ather kinds.
    Best regards to all.
    Sam

I actually prefer Crucial - I have the same model as you, but I've 16GB of Corsair in my machine. Had I to do it over again, I'd buy Crucial (particulary now that the prices have come down).
Go to the Crucial website and use the System Scanner tab - it will let you know your upgrade options. Your machine, like mine, uses  204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMMs. I don't know a thing about Hynix, but Samsung is good as well - I just prefer dealing with Mac specialists.

  • Help! MacBook Pro Late 2011 Not Charging

My MacBook Pro Late 2011 is Not Charging. I have tried plugging it into multiple outlets and none have succeeded. He is a screenshot of my System Information>Power: http://grab.by/tkOM. I have no clue what happened. Last night we had a massive storm, but I don't believe there was any thunder or lightning. Whenever I plug the adapter into an outlet, the battery usage in the top right hand corner shows the "plugged in" icon, then it shows the "charging" icon. Then it just goes blank and back to normal. I have tried to restart it and do the SMC or whatever, but nothing seems to work. I have had this charger for a little bit over 1 year. Thanks in advance!

    Hey Angelo_here,
    I'd run through these steps:
If your computer won't turn on, try each of these steps:
Verify you have a good connection from your Mac to the wall outlet by confirming the power cord and adapter if present are securely connected and plugged in. To check if the wall outlet is working, plug in a lamp or other electrical device.
If the wall outlet is working and you continue to have no power try another power cord or adapter if available. If it works you may need a replacement cord or adapter.
Note: See Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters for further troubleshooting with MagSafe adapters.
Disconnect all accessories that are plugged in to the computer, such as a printer, hub, or other mobile device.
If your Mac supports user-installable memory, solid state drive, or hard drive, and you recently installed any of these, make sure they are installed correctly and are compatible with your computer. If possible, reinstall the original memory or drive into the computer to find out if the behavior persists afterwards.

    I found a similar question on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/2560x1080-resolution-macbook-resolution-option-/forum/Fx15 6DUSW1J104N/Tx14L2NHT4Y3F8K/1/ref=cm_cd_ql_tlc_al?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B00JM99DIU
It looks like you may need a mini-displayport to Displayport cable. You can also try holding the option key while clicking on "scaled" to see if the option you need comes up.

  • Macbook Pro Late 2011

MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2011)     MacBookPro8,3 unable to run on 16gb install corsair, how that be possible macbook pro late 2011 inter core i7 unable to use 16 gb ram memory how fix that. i see same model working with 16gb ram memory.

Regarding the 1 stick -vs- two. Spoke with a Crucial (RAM memory manufacturer for Macs) tech said they test memory sticks by installing them one at a time, starting, and run the mac. If it runs okay with the one stick, that stick is fine. If you put one stick in and it doesn't work, than that stick is bad and should be returned to the manufacturer for replacement - many of them have lifetime warranties.
The three beeps indicates a problem with the RAM.
I'm currently running on one stick (8mb), so far with the light stuff, it's working okay.
I've gone through 4 logic boards trying to run with the 16mb (8x8) Crucial memory (same computer & running latest OS), and I'm about to give up because it seems both of these sticks are 'okay', but after they run for a while they blow up my logic board. Very frustrating.

  • MacBook Pro late 2011 Battery Performance drop dramatically

MacBook Pro late 2011 Battery Performance drop dramatically
9 months 94 cycles and its health is now at 89%

Does the system still run off the battery only? Does it run for a few hours off the battery only? Then No it is not defective and no Apple will do nothing for you and No Applecare does not cover Consumable items which the battery is one of those.
The only time Apple MAY, and that is BIG MAY, replace the battery is within the first year and only if Apple Deems the battery to be defective. Fat chance of that as long as the system runs off the battery for any length of time.

  • Macbook Pro Late 2011 Intel VT

    Hi everybody,
I'm in front of a problem.
    I have a macbook pro late 2011 (MacBookPro8,2) , cpu is Intel Core I7 2,2 Ghz.
I've installed the latest parallel desktop 7 and the lastest vmware fusion on OSX Mountain Lion (10.8).
Into a virtual machine, i've installed microsoft windows 2008 R2 in both parallel and vmware, and i would like to add the hyper-v role, but i receive this error message :
The processor on this computer is not compatible with Hyper-V. To install this role, the processor must have a supported version of hardware-assisted virtualization, and this feature must be turned on in the BIOS.
I'm  pretty sure that my CPU is Intel VT compatible.
I've restored the laptop via a timemachine with OSX 10.7.4, but it's still the same problems.
My system is fully updated, but i remember that i played some times ago with reefit, but i dn't know if it matters.
Anyone here successfully enabled VT on the macbook pro late 2011 and could help me ?
    Thanks in advance.
NB: I've also tried to install Citrix XenServer, and i've also received a warning that my system isn't VT compatible, but i'm sure it's.

Thank you very much for your fast answer
BTW, according to parallel and vmware, VT is implemented and compatible, but on my laptop, it seems not.
I tried only with parallel desktop 7 installed, but same problem, i'm unable to add hyper-v role to my virtual machine.

  • Macbook Pro (Late 2011 model issue)

I purchased my Macbook pro (late 2011 Model) a couple of months back, towards the end of last year. Staright after i had purchased it, and had got it delivered i experienced cracking and clicking noises coming from within the Hinge of the Macbook. And got it replaced for a brand new one as i was still within the 2 weeks prior to purchase, as the apple policy states i was eligible to get a new if i had any problems. So i did. And the brand new replacement macbook pro that i have NOW has the same problem. Ever since i got the other one replaced THIS ONE has the problem or rather much worse, Cracking and clicking noises everywhere whenever i handle the notebook or carry it there is cracking noises everywhere. Whenever i open and close the screen lid, UP or Down. There is loud clicking noises coming from inside, sounds like something is breaking. This is totally unacceptable. First macbook had issue, replaced it, And now replaced Macbook pro is much worse. Since i had it replaced i havent had time to come bring it in. It still bears the same preoblem and is getting worse!

You're just going to have to take it into your local Apple Store. They won't replace again but you're still within your one-year warranty so they will certainly repair. I have the same model and have not have any of the problems that you describe.

  • MacBook Pro (Late 2011) calibration problem

    Hi,
I have tried to calibrate the monitor of my MacBook Pro (Late 2011, Mountain Lion OS) with the Spyder4Express, but the monitor has a yellow cast after the calibration. I've verified the yellow cast by comparing my monitor with other calibrated monitors and with some photos printed with calibrated printers. Moreover, I have calibrated the monitor of another MacBook Pro with the same Spyder4Express and the result is different from mine, i.e. the same photo is displayed with different tones on the two monitors of the two MacBooks.
As calibration parameters of the Spyder4Express I have selected
    Gamut = Normal Gamut
    Backlight = White LED
and set LCD Native flag in the Preferences Panel.
Any suggestions to solve this issue? I suspect that the graphic accelerator (Intel HD 3000) of my MacBook Pro doesn't support the calibration. Someone else had the same problem?

  • MacBook Pro late 2011 not switching to ATI graphics when running off mains power.

    Hi there.
My MacBook Pro late 2011 doesn't appear to be switching to ATI graphics when running off mains power. It always seems to stay on the Intel adapter instead. I've checked the option in the energy saver settings and it's ticked to "Automatically switch..." and when I untick this box, it switches to ATI and stays that way even when running on battery (as expected). Either way it will not switch to ATI graphics when plugged into mains unless forced to in this way.
Any one else seen this? Very frustrating when trying to run an external monitor with the Intel adapter!
    Thanks in advance.
    Dan

"As a last resort I opened the bottom cover and disconnected the battery power plug (MagSafe adapter also disconnected)."
After everything was disconnected did you press the power button and walk away for 5 minutes? Try that, just had one restart after waiting for that long.

  • MacBook Pro Late 2011 Restore and EFI partition gone.

    Hello!
Sorry if my problem seems easy to you but im stuck in a difficult situation. Im quite new to Mac, but after i tried to delete the BootCamp partition on my MacBook i deleted the Recovery HD and the EFI partition by accident. Now my question: is there ANY way to get a new copy of the Recovery HD so i dont have to use Internet Recovery each time? And is there a way to get the EFI partition back so i can update my EFI Firmware again? Mac OS X isn't damaged and is at the same place on the disk as before. 200 MB of free space before Macintosh HD and ~4 GB after it. I have a MacBook Pro Late 2011, 13", 4 GB RAM, a 500 GB Hard drive and i have the EFI Firmware version 2.3 on it so i can still restore using Lion Intenet Recovery.
    Thank you for your answers!
