Question Regarding itunes and all things Music!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question Guys,
Back here again for some more advise. Now I know that really, I should be on 10.5 but at the moment i'm still on 10.4.11 and I'll have to make do with it for the next few months or so. Just wondering, the reason really why i got my powerbook PPC was because of music. I have had some good reviews that the MAC or any MAC is the way to go for MUSIC, mp3 etc.
Now with this said, I'm a little worried about try to connect my ipod classic 160GB to a PPC. not only that I'm worried that there is nothing out there as far as software that will be complatible with PPC. For Example, I have heard of cubase VST and all its forms and version. This week, I found a really good piece of software called Melodyne. For those who dont know what it does is it takes music files and I am able to change the pitch of any track or change the track down to a semi-tone higher or lower if needs be without damaging the original track.
Now the question is....firstly, will I have any issues connecting my ipod classic to a PPC, I know that i will need to upgrade itunes to the correct version but will I have any issues. Secondly, does anyone know out there which is the best studio software for PPC. Will I be able to run cubase or Melodyne on a PPC Powerbook G4.
Or is this a non starter as far as music goes. My powerbook G4 is 1.67mhz with 2GB of RAM....
thanks

... My powerbook G4 is 1.67mhz with 2GB of RAM....
The best one! (we have several ...)
Your iPod Classic will attach to your PowerBook just fine.
Melodyne products won't run on the Powerbook, as they require a G5 or Intel processor.
Cubase 5 is the last version with PowerPC support. Finding a company still selling the mac version is difficult.
Anymore, unfortunately, you really need an Intel-based mac for more current software to run.

ive got a laptop from a friend, she cleared everything off it. ive downloaded itunes and for some reason all her music has appeared in the library. How do i delete her music from the itunes libary so i can add my own music?

In iTunes, select the music you want to delete (⌘+a to select all) and hit Delete on your keyboard.
Also delete the music files in Finder. Also make sure you have your own Apple ID and iTunes account and logged in.

  • TS1967 I got a new Windows 8 laptop, upgraded Itunes and all my music is missing, including album names. Help!

Recently had to get a new laptop, everything was showing up correctly on the old one in the process of transferring music as far as playlists and albums. I recently went to sync my Classic and found it had most of my albums missing completely or the titles changed to "Unknown Album." My playlists are missing completely, and my "most played, etc" albums are blank. This is all on the new laptop, I haven't tried to plug in the ipod Classic or Iphone 4s to sync yet since the original transfer a month ago.
I'm not sure if this was due to the transfer between computers or new Itunes upgrade. Any info you can give would help. I'm running a windows 8 laptop.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • I recently bought a new computer, downloaded itunes and all my music from the cloud, made a few more purchases on itunes then plugged in my ipod and it wont sync. My ipod is already associated with my itunes account and the computer is authorised...

I have a new laptop which will not sync my ipod to it. I've registered the computer, this is the only ipod associated with this itunes account. It shows the syncing symbol on the laptop and on the ipod but then when i eject the ipod afterwards the new songs have not transfered or my playlists.

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • My computer crashed.  I backed up everything on an external drive.  How do I get the backup of itunes and all my music back on my new computer?

My computer crashed.  I had everything backed up on an external drive.  I have a new computer.  How do I get itunes back on my new computere from the external drive?

This question has to do with how to restore your computer drive if you backed up the computer to an external drive. Did you use backup software or did you just copy the data from the old computer to the new computer? If you just copied, then you need to just copy over the Music folder which should contain the iTunes folder.

  • I just downloaded itunes and all my music is there but the files won't fit onto my computer so now i can't play the 12000 songs i have n my library y isn't this possible if all the songs are on the cloud ?this is ridiculous ...

i got a new laptop because my old one won't turn on anymore .i can only sync my account to 5 computers so how do i unsync the account from my old laptop if i can't use my old laptop ?and i have over 12000 songs that i now have to individually drag and drop onto my computer that doesn't hold that much space because none of my songs will play because there is no file on computer to back it up .all of my songs are saved in the cloud y isn't that enough to make my songs play ?so now i have a list of songs that won't play on my itunes that won't let me use my account because it's the 6th computer on my account .it's kindda pointless .

Tigon's already got you covered here. But I'll chime in with some English localisation advice.
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • ITunes deleted all the music on my ipod - help!

I purchased a fourth generation black and white screen 20GB ipod that had some music on it.
I've been listening to the music for about a week without bothering to connect up to my computer.
Today I installed the software that came with the ipod and updated to the newest versions of iTunes and Quicktime.
I connected my ipod when it told me to.
No music appeared in iTunes and all the music has been deleted from the ipod, the ipod menus for music are empty.
When I disconnect my ipod I now have no music to listen to.
Where did it go and how can I get it back?
    Thank you.

You might not bea ble to get it back. Invest $100 on itunes cards!

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • HT1751 After "Restoring iTunes Library Backup" it wont link to the files in the iTunes folder. I've followed the correct procedure, and iTunes lists all my music correctly (but with no artwork), but can't locate any of the files. Using Windows 7. Help ple

After "Restoring iTunes Library backup" it wont link to the files in the iTunes folder. I've followed the procedure as described, and the iTunes folder is in the correct location. iTunes lists all my music correctly (albeit with no artwork), but can't locate any of the files.
I've been restoring my iTunes folder from a backup hard drive to a new computer on which I've downloaded the latest iTunes (10.7). If this is a newer version than the one I backed up with could this be the problem? (I had the latest (to my knowledge) iTunes when I backed up the folder about 3 weeks ago, was this version 10.7?)
Or is the version of iTunes (within recent updates) not an issue when restoring a library?
    Using Windows 7.
    Any help please?

From the top of the page where the scripts live...
The general method of use is to download the script to a folder of your choice, e.g. your Desktop, Downloads folder or create a folder at ...\iTunes\Scripts. Select a playlist or highlight some tracks in iTunes and then double-click on the script to execute it. If no specific tracks are selected the script will try to work with all tracks in the current playlist. Some scripts offer a choice of track by track confirmation of changes or fully automatic processing of the selection. Many of the scripts can optionally display a progress bar while running.
You are strongly advised to backup your entire library, or at the very least the iTunes Library.itl file, before use. Test the behaviour of your chosen script on a small group of files first to make sure it does what you want before applying it to large numbers of files.
Most builds of Windows will execute *.vbs scripts when you double-click them. If that doesn't happen then you might need to visit the Add/Remove Programs or Programs & Features control panel to enable the Windows Scripting Host. I can track down details if you have issues.
Backing up and restoring data is an area that is often glossed over. Most people don't try to learn much about it until they've lost something important. (Me too )
If your iTunes library was in the usual layout then normally copying the whole iTunes folder from the User's Music folder in the old computer to the User's Music folder in the new one will usually work fine. Ideally this is done before iTunes is installed so that there is no empty library to replace, and all settings are picked up from the old library. This post contains more details.

I just want to know if there is a way to get all of what is still on my phone, back over to my iMac with it's new drive and restore my full iTunes library to the iMac with playlists, CD downloaded music, and my iTunes bought stuff, so i can go back to synching the 2 devices without losing everything that's on my phone that used to be on both devices?

    - Have you tried the troubleshooting here:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - You can try disabling the camer notification
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1500
    - Do you have any camera, scanner or similar software installed?  That may prevent iTunes from seeing the iPod.
