Question regarding student version install policies

HI,
Can I install my student version of Creative suite on my work PC in addition to my home PC? I'd like to be able to use it in both places.
If so what is the procedure? This was purchased a few (2ish)  years ago, so I dont recall what I did to register other than proving I was a student then.
Thanks
Sharon

Yes. Once you have the serial number you are good to go.

  • Several Questions Regarding Educational Versions of Software

Alright, I have several questions regarding eduational software from Adobe.  I will be attending school in the near future (now I am not enrolled in any type of school) and I notice that Adobe has huge discounts on 'educational software'.
What exactly is the difference between the 'retail' version of a program and an educational version?  Do you need some sort of student ID to activate an educational version, or proof that you're in school, or anything special like that?  I've noticed people selling unopened educational versions on eBay and from what I hear there are no differences between the software, but this makes me wonder... why the price difference?
Also, I plan on buying another Mac in the near future - probably for school.  My second questions is - with this software (educational), can I put the programs on both my Desktop and my Laptop, or will they only work registered to one person on one computer?  I've heard from people that serial numbers can only be activated so many times.
Final question.  My hard drive recently crashed, and I lost a good bit of stuff and had to re-install everything.  If this would happen again, can I re-install all of the Adobe programs to a new hard drive?  Or am I going to encounter the whole 'serial numbers can only be activated so many times' thing?
Okay.  I think that about does it.  Any input would be great.  Thanks.

In terms of contents, there is normally no real difference between the retail and educational/student editions. There may be some extra fonts or clipart in the retail version, but this varies from release to release and from product to product.
You must qualify to purchase an educational/student version. Such qualifications are listed on Adobe's website. Normally you must provide proof of such qualification to whoever sells such software licenses to you. You cannot buy now on the basis that you will be a student in the future. You must have the student status at the time of the purchase.
Unlike retail versions, educational/student versions of Adobe software are not transferable. Sales of such "unopened" software on eBay should be regarded with suspicion. Authorized Adobe resellers do not offer software sales on eBay. The software is either stolen, used (but repackaged), or pirated.
Most Adobe software, including the Creative Suite software, may be simultaneously activated on up to two computers owned and used by only one individual. The second computer is typically a mobile computer if the first computer is a home computer for students. For retail, typically the first computer is one's office computer and the second computer is a mobile or home computer. The computers are not to be running the software simultaneously. And no, two students can't share a single copy on two separate computers.
The software may be activated and deactivated but after 20 or so such cycles, you will need to call Adobe and explain what's going on to obtain any additional such cycles. If you are activated on two systems and a disk drive or computer blows out and you need to reinstall the software without having had the ability to deactivate on the blown system, Adobe's activation support group will normally grant you an extra activation, assuming that you don't have a record of abusing the priviledge (such as claiming your disk drive crashes once a month!).

  • Student Version install of CS2

I am running student version Photoshop 5.5.  I want to upgrade to student version CS2.  Should I first uninstall 5.5 or just load CS2 on top ?      This is a Windows XP PC.

Not sure what you are trying to say here. If indeed you mean PS 5.5 rather than CS5.5 and also refer to CS2, then there is nothing of relevance here. They are and will remain independent from each other. The only question would then be where you got "student versions" of legacy software when all you can buy legally is current versions, but I'll leave judgement on that to Adobe's employees. If you are referring to CS5.5, then you can handle this any way you want - a suite install will recognize standalone products and remove them automatically, if you so desire, replacing it with the package version. You can of course manually uninstall just as well...

  • A question about student version upgrade

    Hi everyone,
I do know, that student version is only for noncommercial work, and while i'm just a student, i don't wanna take that risk that I might get commercial work to do, and I would't be allowed to do it.
Now what I've got in my mind, is that i would first buy cs4 design premium - student version. Then I would update it to the commercial version (CS4).
The question is, can I update CS4 student to CS4 commercial, or do I have to wait until CS5 is to be released.
And IF I can upgrade from CS4 student to CS4 commercial, does it cost the regural upgrade price? ( ~790€ ).
I know that student version has full upgrade rights, but on the "whats egible for upgrade" it doesn't mention CS4 (for obvious reasons, usually people don't want to pay to upgrade to same program they have), but somehwhere in the european FAQ (here http://www.adobe.com/uk/education/students/studentedition/faq.html ) there was mentioned this
Can I upgrade from a Student Edition?
Yes, a Student Edition can be upgraded to a commercial version.
Now it is not clearly stated, that can we upgrade from later version to more recent one, or can we upgrade recent student ver to recent commercial ver
Location: Europe, Finland, so before you north americans tell me that I can use student version for commercial work, i'd like to say that It doesn't work that way in Europe.
Thank you for your time, I hope someone has a clear ansrew to me.

  • Question about Student version and CS6

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question...
So I have a question about Student&Teacher versions in CS6 - Will there be Student & Teacher version for CS6 too?
P.S Sorry if there are some grammar mistakes.
    Hope You understand!
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply Bob,
I was actually referring to this exact page ( CS5.5 Production Premium, Student) http://adobe.ly/H6so7G (non-flash version because links were redirecting) where it doesnt list the offer on the left.
However, after reading this http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/cs55_cs6_faq.html and this http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/offer/cs55_cs6_faqchannel.html I'm assuming it must just be an error.
It doesnt mention anything about not including student editions and all offer pages I've seen have a link to the education store.

  • Bw Question :regarding the versioning

    Hii All,
I did post a question regarding to the versionining of the cube on friday 9th May and still i did not get any reply on that.Plz let me know.otherwise plz keep me posted that you are unable to reply to my question.
    My Question was :
In the Versioning of the cube ,we give that version a particular name and select the value type of it as : 110 or 130 or 140. what is this value type .. ? what does this 110,130 or 140 really mean ?
Why we need this value type.? and can we get some documents to read and explore this value type ?. Plz help.
    Thanks & regards ,
    Madhavi S Bichakal

    Hi Madhavi,
Basically in BW you'll find two characteristics used for versioning:
    - Version: Used to create different versions of the information
    - Value type: used to indicate what the information means.
    Examples:
Version 000 is usually Plan/Actual data (the final version). Then, for version 000 you will have different value types, like 010 = Actual, 020 = Plan, 030 = Target, etc..
Then you can have different versions (001, 002, 003) that are used in the planning process. You start with version 001, then you can move to 002, 003,... and when you have the final Plan, you move to 000.
That's the usual usage of version / value type.
but, you can use it as you want. The only problem that you can have is that if you rename the description of a value type, and then you activate a BCT that generates data for that value type and the description will be incorrect.
From what you said, you are using values from 100 and above, SAP uses up to 90 from what i've seen, so you won't have any problems.
    Hope this clarifies.
    Regards,
    Diego

  • I have some questions about student versions of software.

I am creating a website for my business, and I need Photoshop CS2 and Dreamweaver 8 right now. But I know that CS3 should be out soon, and it will be Universal. If I get the student versions now, can I upgrade them or will I be forced to buy the versions again? What is my best option? Thanks.

For that you would need to ask the vendors.

  • Question regarding student/teacher status for Adobe CC

I'm asking if I can qualify as a student/teacher status for Adobe Creative Cloud sale purchase.  Deadline is Dec. 1.  I have a U of AZ email address and I am a certified volunteer for the University. I have a bonified email address from the University but I wanted to know if this would qualify for this sale purchase.  I don't want to purchase first and ask questions later.  Thank you.

  • Question regarding scripting OS install + applications

I'm getting the hang of SCCM now and I thank you all who have helped greatly answering my (many) questions here.   It is really appreciated.
One of my next questions is - can I create a task sequence that  installs both OS and applications all in a single shot?   So I can basically click one button and provision a PC from start to finish - with OS, applications and everything in one
    shot?
    Thanks

Yes, you can. That's the whole idea of a task sequence.

Hi, I want to downgrade from OSX LEOPARD to OSX TIGER but I have a few questions regarding this. My iMac is originally from Sep 2007 it came preloaded with tiger. I have original install (2) tiger discs version 10.4.10.  I want to know if it is safe and what are the necessary steps to do so. Also by downgrading im wondering if a lot of apps nowadays support tiger for example I have photoshop version 5 and 4 these are very important to me. One last question does anyone know of any reliable virus protection for mac that doesnt slow down your computer? because I have read that a lot of them do so. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it! Here are the specs for my iMac
    Model Name:
    iMac
      Model Identifier:

      Total Number Of Cores:

Most of the time a perception of general slow performance is the result of installing third party junk alleged to speed up, "clean" or "optimize" your Mac, or to look for viruses that don't exist. Ideally you would know what you installed so you can uninstall it, but if you don't know or aren't sure there are techniques such as Safe Mode and creating a temporary user account to confirm that suspicion.
If you open Activity Monitor it may show a process, or processes, that occupy a lot of your system's time.
Slowness confined solely to web browser activity is often the result of an inexorable progress toward websites that demand ever more processor-intensive tasks. If your slow performance is strictly limited to web browsing, you might try disabling Flash by either uninstalling it, or use utilities such as ClickToFlash that allow you to control what Flash content gets loaded. Flash in itself is not inherently evil, but there is nothing to stop websites or the advertisers who pay for them from writing horrible Flash code that can do everything from hogging 100% of your CPU's time to causing random crashes. You can watch Activity Monitor as in the above to correlate these troublesome web pages with performance degradation.
You are correct; if your computer shipped with Tiger you may certainly revert to it. I forgot that Tiger was shipping on new Macs as recently as five years ago. To downgrade it would be necessary to completely erase your hard disk and boot with the Tiger installation DVD, followed by installing it anew. Such drastic measures are not necessary and you are unlikely to be satisfied with the results anyway.
Assuming your system is free of third party parasitic junk attached to OS X in an ill-conceived attempt to improve upon it, that your hard disk drive is sound and the boot volume has enough free space to work with, by far the best performance-enhancing improvement would be to add more memory. Buy as much as your computer can use and that you can afford. 2 GB is not that much any more.

  • Basic question regarding SSIS 2010 Package where source is Microsoft Excel 97-2005 and there is no Microsoft office or Excel driver installed in Production

    Hi all,
I got one basic question regarding SSIS 2010 Package where source is Microsoft Excel 97-2005. I wanted to know How this package works in production where there is no Microsoft office or Excel driver installed. To check that there is excel driver installed
or not, I followed steps: Start-->Administrative Tools--> Data Sources(ODBC)-->Drivers and I found only 2 drivers one is SQL Server and another one is SQL Server Native Client 11.0.
Windows edition is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, Service Pack-1 and System type is 64-bit Operating System.
    We are running this package from SQL Server Agent and using 32-bit (\\Machine_Name\d$\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn\DTExec.exe /FILE "\\Machine_Name\d$\ Folder_Name\EtL.dtsx" /CONFIGFILE "\\Machine_Name\d$\Folder_Name\Config.dtsConfig"
/MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E) to run this package. I opened the package and tried to find out what connection we have used and found that we have used "Excel Connection Manager" and ConnectionString=Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data
Source=F:\Fares.xls;Extended Properties="EXCEL 8.0;HDR=YES"; and source is ‘Excel Source’
I discussed with my DBA and He said that SSIS is having inbuilt Excel driver but I am not convinced.
Could anyone please clear my confusion/doubt?
I have gone through various links but my doubt is still not clear.

How Can I Get a List of the ODBC Drivers that are Installed on a Computer?

Thanks Shiven:) If Answer is Helpful, Please Vote

    Hi S Kumar Dubey,
In SSIS, the Excel Source and Excel Destination natively use the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider which is installed by SQL Server. The Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider deals with .xls files created by Excel 97-2003. To deal with .xlsx files created by
Excel 2007, we need the Microsoft ACE OLEDB Provider. SQL Server doesn’t install the Microsoft ACE OLEDB Provider, to get it we can install the
2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components or
Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable or Microsoft Office suit.
The drivers listed in the ODBC Data Source Administrator are ODBC drivers not OLEDB drivers, therefore, the Excel Source/Destination in SSIS won’t use the ODBC driver for Excel listed in it by default. On a 64-bit Windows platform, there are two versions
of ODBC Data Source Administrator. The 64-bit ODBC Data Source Administrator is C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe, while the 32-bit one is C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe. The original 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC drivers are installed by the Windows operating system.
By default, there are multiple 32-bit ODBC drivers and fewer 64-bit ODBC drivers installed on a 64-bit platform. To get more ODBC drivers, we can install the 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components or Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable.
Besides, please note that 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components only install 32-bit ODBC and OLEDB drivers because it only has 32-bit version, but the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable has both 32- bit version and 64-bit
    version.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Re-installing CS5.5 Student version on a new computer.

I've had this computer for a few years now and its beginning to show its age.
I also have the Student edition of Creative suite 5.5 installed on it.
So my question is, if my computer breaks down and has to be replaced, will I be able to install my student version of CS on my new computer, without having to pay etc.
I have the physical disc and code etc, so it should be fine right?
    Thankyou!

As long as the software is compatible with the new machine you can install and activate.  Your license is (normally) perpetual and allows you to have two machines with activated installations, so if you purchase a new machine you can still retain the original machine as a backup if you like.  Alternatively, you can deactivate the original installation and retain the extra activation for yet another machine.

  • Installing Student Version

I called Adobe and was told I qualified for a student version. Is there something special I will need to do when installing the software?

    Hi KCFan62,
You need not to do anything special to install the software. As you purchase the software and get the key, just follow the normal procedure to install.
