Question regarding using two separate IPODs on same computer

I recently bought my husband an IPod since he loved mine so much. I already had ITunes on my computer (obviously), so I had him signout and then establish a separate account under his name before attaching his IPod to the computer. Once on ITunes, my library remained in the que even under his new name. He was thrilled because it saved him the issue of having to mess with downloading songs. He deleted off some songs, added others, and moved things around. Now, no matter what name you log-in under, the same library and playlists come up. Is there a way to fix this, or avoid it from here on out? I want MY LIBRARY back.

It sounds like you're talking about logging into your separate iTunes Store/Apple accounts which will only affect which of those accounts is charged for purchases.
It does not change Libraries or anything of that nature so, unfortunately, unless you made a back-up copy of your iTunes Library file before your husband started making changes, your LIbrary - as it was - no longer exists.
As for the future, you may want to have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base and let us know if it brings you any combination of joy and/or satisfaction.

  • Can i have two separate ipods on one computer?

My husband has an ipod shuffle and I do too.  His computer is fried - can I download his tunes off his ipod onto my computer and keep them separate?

    Hello, cinruss.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Multiple users can authorize the same computer.  However, the media libraries will be combined.  The best option may be to create a new user account on the computer specific to him.  The articles below will help you with this process.

  • Two different iPods sharing same computer and iTunes

How do I set up a second iPod on the same computer but keep them separate?

Plug the new iPod into your computer and go through the iPod Setup Assistant when prompted. If you want to transfer different music to each iPod, try the options in this article.

  • How do I manage two separate Ipods on same PC?

I have filled up 160 GBs of music, but it keeps coming. How can I set it up so that future music goes onto a separate play list (I guess), and then loads onto the new Ipod?

See this Apple support document for a couple of different possibilities.

  • Can I use two microphotos on the same computer

If so, how? Can I just plug it in and go or do I have to install the software again? How do I transfer music from one to the other? Can they be plugged in at the same time? Many questions........

To answer your main question above, of course you can! I have three Zen Micros 5GB now being used on my computer including about fi've Zen V Plus and a bunch of Zen Nano Plus Players.
As for transfering from ZenMicro Photo directly to another ZM Photo, it doesn't have a line in. So what you do, is use Creative Mediasource and transfer all your music or whatever to the CreativeMediasource library and then transfer it to your other player.

I recently updated from my Ipod shuffel to a Nano. The software automatically updated my computer when I pluged in the new one, but I have given my son my shuffle and have not been able to get it to work on my home computer, can I update his on my computer that I use for my nano?

The ca-55 was the only adaptor to convert a car-k91 to pop port, you can not change it to another type of connector, you will have to buy a new kit.

  • HT204053 What are the pros and cons of 1) choosing to use the SAME Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or 2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides

All is in the title, so I repeat it below with a better identation.
What are the pros and cons of
    1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
    2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
    P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

  • Need computer to recognize two separate iPods using 2 libraries on single login

I have a family who has two separate iPod 5's, and Ive created two separate libraries for them on a Windows 7 machine under the same login.
I know how to open iTunes holding the "Shift" key and double clicking the icon, but what I want (and what Apple SHOULD have coded into iTunes IMO) is for the computer to recognize which iPod is associated with a specific library, and open the correct one in iTunes when the iPod is plugged in.
Currently, it is opening the last library that was opened.  Sounds a little silly, but holding shift, and selecting the library every time is not going to fly for this family.  They are not that computer savvy.  This seems like something that should automatically be done...if not I consider it a bug in iTunes.
They are using the latest iTunes/iPod firmware.
    Any help?
    Thanks,

I know what you need to do!
Buy yourself a turntable and some records - you know, that vinyl stuff (that I grew up with):
When playing an album (a twelve inch LP record), there was a ceremony to go through: slipping the record carefully out of its sleeve, handling it by its edge and centre label but not the playing surface, skillfully flipping it over and round to the read the centre label, making sure you played the correct side. Then getting up every twenty minutes to flip the record over to side two, or put on a different album altogether.
And if you were a singles fan... sitting next to the record player, preparing the next 7" (seven inch) that you were going to put on; removing from the turntable, the record that had just finished, and putting the next one on in its place as quickly as possible.
    A ritual in fact.
As great as vinyl was, you would then appreciate iTunes and all it has to offer.
*Flippant and light-hearted, but not sarcastic.*

Have the project, events and media on one drive which is common to both macs.
You can download FCP X to both macs using the same Apple ID that it was purchased with.

  • Can I use two separate computers with the same adobe ID.  I want to update my kobo from either unit

Can I use two separate computers with the same adobe ID.  I want to update my kobo from either unit

I doubt it is possible to run two instances of iTunes on the computer at the same time.  To do so would require two users to be signed in and running iTunes under each user.
The better solution would be to either clean up and merge the two libraries or have iTunes running on a second computer.

  • Using iPhoto library by two accounts on the same computer

I have tried to use iPhoto across two accounts on the same computer using the fast switching.
I have found that i could access the iPhoto library by opening the app with the option key down and pointing the user to the library in the primary account.
the library shows up in the second account, but no longer in the primary account.
since it would be better and more useful for me to have the library show up in the primary account, now I cannot switch back.
the app finds the library OK from the secondary user, but not for the primary.
i just get a message that the photos are loadig, left it for three hours, and nothing loaded. the library appears to be intact.
I can point the primary user app to the backup disk and see all of the photos there, but don't know what to do to bring things back to normal here.
