Question slide- Launch a full screen image in new window.

Hi,
I am using Captivate 4.
In the question slide (MCQ/ Matching) I want to have a transparent button over a thumbnail image.
On clicking this button, it lanches a full screen image in a new window.
The student views the image and answers MCQ, Matching (droplist) on the main screen/slide of captivate.
This new window can then be closed by clicking 'X' on top right corner of the window.
How to do this?

Hi there
Instead of a Transparent Button you should think instead about Click Boxes. But either way, Captivate doesn't allow Buttons or Click Boxes to be inserted on Question Slides.
However, Captivate does allow you to insert Flash objects on Question slides. So you could develop a Flash object that would carry out the desired actions when clicked. Then insert the object on the Question slide.

Please make sure that the next button is pinned to the right side as there in the attached image.
If it is already pinned, you can try removing any embedded HTML code and checking it.

Full screen images and full screen color background boxes are cropping horizontally.

Full screen images aren't loading and full screen color background boxes are cropping horizontally. I'm forced to make my images a full screen slide show (of 1 image) to make it work, but then I lose the option to pin the image. Am I alone in this?

I would like to have full screen images on a page that fits to most browsers. I don't know what would be the best width in order to acomplish that.

How can i put full screen images on my E65??

Well, when you say fullscreen, you mean you want it to cover the active standby apps, as well, as the clock and provider area? If so, then you would have to customize your picture and turn it into a theme. If not, then edit your picture to be 240x320 pixels in the dimension. Your picture could be larger in size as long as it has the same aspect ratio, it should fit in perfect. I have not tried this myself, but theoretically it should work.

Create a full-screen image gallery with MSO - breaks other buttons?

Hi - I'm trying to create a full screen image gallery to be accessible from any layout via a button. The ultimate goal is to use my layout as a presentation tool and allow the presenter to have an 'image gallery' button on each page,so they would be able to jump to a full screen image at any time. Most of my layouts have other buttons, scrollable content, etc. I thought I had a great idea: create a multi-state object with the first state being blank, and each subsequent state would have an image and also a full screen black box at 50% transparency. The problem is, now my other buttons are no longer working. I confirmed that the existing buttons will work if they are arranged to be in front of the image gallery MSO, but that's not a good solution. Am I missing something or is there another workaround? Thanks!

You have to put buttons inside each state of the MSO.
It's not really a workable design in the long run, you should probably rethink it It's also not good from an app performance standpoint as it requires loading full-screen images for each state into memory.

Lightroom launches in full screen mode on iMac

LR has just started to launch in full screen mode on my iMac without any opportunity to minimize it or move to another program. I would like it to launch like it used to where I can control the window size but can't seem to figure out how to get back to that capability. I have an iMac running Mountain Lion. LR is the only program effected as Photoshop still launches the old way.

The "F" key cycles through screen modes.

Blurry full screen image 4.x/5.0/5.2 RC (Develop Module)

I've zoomed to 1:1 and then hit F in this case. It's tempermental, it's not something that happens 100% of the time. I'd say more like 85%.
I've also seen it be sharp after hitting F and then go blurry when I try to pan left or right on the full screen image.
This issue really makes a dedicated monitor for full screen images when developing useless.

JInternalFrame Full Screen Exclusive mode lag Windows 7?

Hi everyone I'm not sure if i'm posting this question in the right category so feel free to move it. I recently have been playing around with full screen exclusive mode and JInternalFrames. Now what iv'e noticed is on every platform i've tried it works fine. When clicking and dragging the JInternalFrame to a new location it is quick and responsive. However when doing this same operation in Windows 7 the JInternalFrame lags significantly behind the mouse location as i'm dragging the internal frame. I haven't had a chance to test this on any other Windows platforms such as Vista or XP but I don't think it happens on those platforms, at least I don't remember this ever happening when I had Windows Vista and it doesn't occur in Mac OS 10.6.
The following are the circumstances i've found that produce this problem:
*1. The program is set to Full Screen Exclusive mode.*
*2. You are using Windows 7 (possibly other Windows platforms)*
*3. Click and drag a JInternalFrame to a new location.*
I've tried several things to see if it fixes the problem such as setting the look and feel to cross platform but nothing helps. In fact when the LAF is set to cross platform it is even worse.
Now i'm new to Full Screen Exclusive mode so i'm guessing (hoping) this is a problem caused by an error on my part. Here is the source code, i'd appreciate it if you give it a try. My question is how do I fix this lag so that the JInternalFrame is quick and responsive to the user dragging the window and i'm also wondering if this only happens on Windows 7 so if anyone could also tell me if they experience the problem I am describing and the OS you are using that would be great. Thank you guys :)
Also any input about wether i'm setting up full screen exclusive mode correctly would be much appreciated too.

I don't see the lag you describe. There's some flicker when moving the internal frame around rapidly (it looks as if the borders follow the content a split second later, but can't be caught in a screen capture) but that's no different when I show the internal frame in a normal (not full screen) window.

dbThanks for your reply and thanks for testing out my code. Could this lag be something wrong with my VM on Windows 7, cause the lag is extremely bad as in it takes a couple seconds for the internal frame to catch up with the mouse. I also just noticed that any other components in full screen exclusive mode on Windows 7 lag as well. Such as scrolling though a large amount of text, the scroll bar will lag far behind the mouse location and take a couple of seconds to catch up even when the mouse is moving fairly slow. I was hoping it was something in the code I was doing wrong but I guess not? Any suggestions on how I could fix this problem? It really makes my applications appear sluggish. For example when you click on a normal window such as in Windows Explorer and drag it to a new location the mouse stays in a fixed position on the window while you are dragging it. However with this lag the mouse appears to be "detatched" from the window and does not stay in the same location on the window while dragging. Does anyone else experience this or is this normal? I'm using Windows 7 64bit but I don't think that would make any difference. I'd also like to point out that I'm using Java 6 update 21 I don't know if that would make a difference opposed to update 17.

Cannot get out of full-screen view of main window of Mail.

I went into full-screen with the main window of Mail, and now cannot get out of it, even when quitting and relaunching. Exiting full screen only shows separate window for the highlighted email. How can I reverse this?

Push your mouse cursor to the top until the menu drops down. At the far right corner is the leave full screen icon. Select it.

Clicking "open image in new window" on a jpeg downloads the image

If I click on "open image in new window" or paste an image address directly in as the url, Safari sometimes downloads that image and sometimes displays the image directly in the browser.
Why? I'd like to always have it display directly in the browser.

At a total guess, the webserver at image.wink.com is incorrectly identifying the images as something other than an image file. If they claim it's a binary file for example, then Safari will treat it like any other file you would normally wish to download.

In Elements 12 Organizer, View Full Screen images are not loading. Have already tried disc cleanup.

It was working a couple of days ago, now when I select several images to view full screen, the page comes up, but the images don't. I have a PC, and have already tried doing a disc cleanup and defragmentation.

I’ve found a work-round.
This is embarrassing (for Adobe), as the work-round is to set the CPU affinity to single cpu mode. With that PSE 10 has been running in slide show mode for 3 hours now. Looking good!
On a temporary basis, from the task manager, show the ‘processes’ tab, right click on the PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe *32 process, choose ‘Set Affinity …’ unselect ‘All’ and select (check) any one CPU. (Under W7 32 bit I guess you won’t get the *32)
For a more permanent fix, using the start command with the affinity option is needed. This is not compatible with the PSE 10 launcher though, if you use the launcher you will need to set the affinity as shown above.
To use the start command, from a command prompt type start /? for the syntax..
Try a google search of “how to set the processor affinity” for further advice.
Now, should Adobe be reading this thread I have some advice for them:
“It is NOT POSSIBLE to conduct a reliability test of a program using a virtualized environment”.
I made the error of assuming that after the PSE 6 fiasco in a multi-cpu environment Adobe would not make the same mistake again. Well, they have. Perhaps this time they will conduct a root cause analysis of what they are doing wrong with their test plans and FIX IT, because I object to doing their testing for them, again.

IPhoto 6.06 stopped displaying full screen images

Using my four day old mac and iPhoto suddenly developed a problem: when I try to play a slideshow instead of the images appearing on the screen full size (which they did perfectly), I get a gray screen with a dashed box that has a "?" in it. Same photos that were used two days ago are NG. Also, I can see the thumbnails in the various libraries OK, but if I try to enlarge beyond about 2" by 3" with the slider, same thing (gray screen with dashed box)
I did get a prompt that the thumbnails were being rebuilt. How do I fix this?

If you made changes in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder you have two choices:
1. Return things to the way they were
or
2. If you cannot do this then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
Some FYI
It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss
Rolls in the iPhoto Window correspond exactly with the Roll Folders in the Originals Folder in the iPhoto Library Folder. You can move photos between Rolls, you can rename rolls, edit them, create them, as long as you do it via the iPhoto Window. Check out the Info Pane (wee 'i', lower left) the name and date fields are editable. Edit a Roll Name using the Info Pane, the Roll Folder in iPhoto Library Folder/Originals will also have the new name.
It is not recommended that you access pics in the iPhoto Library Folder except through the iPhoto Window. There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
