Question-still need help please

After encountering an odd problem yesterday while uploading photos that forced me to manually shut down the computer, I could not reboot. I ran the disk utility, and it indicated repairs were made. But it still would not reboot. So I reinstalled Mac OS X, and now the computer will not accept my user name/password. Any suggestions on what I'm doing right or what I might do differently?

You may have to start the computer from the Installer boot disc and choose
from the menu options (not reinstall, again) to reset the Admin password.
It could be the same one you had before, if you like.
Did you do an Archive and Install -or- an Erase and Install?
How full is the hard disk drive? After it seems OK for awhile
you may decide if anything of value is in the old system and
if not, you could delete it. You may have to start up in SafeBoot
and run the built-in Disk Utility's "repair disk permissions" and
restart; there are some things other things you can do to help it.
Hard saying why the computer acted up. If the drive is getting
more than 70% full, you should be looking to archive files off
the machine's hard disk drive and then reduce its load.
How long have you had this computer, and what is its configuration?
PS: it would have been nice if you could have started a new
thread earlier on and kept the topic of your computer in there.
I see an earlier thread where the error message was a launchd
message, and that may have been helpful to know all the story.

    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Question, I need help please

    On my Macbook pro I use Microspft Office for Mac and I have several Powerpoint presentations which include short video clips.
    These play perfectly on the Macbook but when I connect to the big TV display using the VGA connector the video dissappears off both the MacBook and the TV and I am left with only the soundtrack. If I then disconnect the VGA plug the Macbook has
    still lost the video and I have to reboot to get it back.
    I assume there is a setting I need to adjust but don't know what I'm looking for.
    Can anyone please advise me?

    I think before you start the PP presentation you need to connect the second display (TV), go into the Sys Preferences/Displays and make sure that display is being seen and that the resolution is correct. you will more then likely also set it to Mirrored so the same thing shows on both screens. Once you have that working then start the PP Presentation.
    You can also check off "Show displays in menu bar". That way you have quick access to the display settings window.
    I think your problem comes up when you connect the display (TV) after the presentation has started without first making sure the resolution is correct and that it is set to the mirror mode.

    I am trying to familiarise myself with subclasses and want to create a subclass of java.awt.Button to override the background and foreground colours and have come up with this

    Earlier I said I was getting the message (The document “7/11Diverticulitis.pdf” could not be opened. Acrobat cannot open files in the “Adobe PDF document” format).  Several people made suggestions. I tried all of them. #1 I renamed the files and tried. #2 I made sure I selected acrobat 9 as the application I wanted to use while opening a document. #3 I tried to delete and reinstall. I cannot install it for some reason the process does not auto install from my CD?  Now what, I have already dumped my prior Adobe Acrobat 9 pro into the trash and emptied it!  I am so confused.  I use alot of pdf files as I have gone paperless. Before I created and read them with ease. Why would this happen just because I upgraded to a new computer. Again I am on OSXversion 10.6.8 Thanks for anything you can do to help!!

    I was wandering if the Cmos battery is dead or not working, does that mean the whole motherboard including the PSU and NB will not work or boot???

    CMOS battery mainly controls the time and date and BIOS settings when the system is off.
    I think your problems resides more to the PSU. Try another PSU and see if the same thing occurs .

  • Need Help Please with Ipod 20G

    Long story short....I had my Ipod 4G and computer stolen several month ago on a business trip(have police report). A friend of mine recently purchased a new Video Ipod and gave me his old 20G...pretty nice of him! I am about to have iTunes loaded on to my new computer. Here are my questions I need help with please.
    1. Will I need to setup a new iTunes account or can I use my old one?
    2. Will I have to reset my newly acquired Ipod before I can place my music on it? I did back up about 80% of the songs from my old Ipod. Or will I be able to keep the 1500 songs my friend placed on it?
    3. Or would it be easier for me to give him back his, cough up the $300 dollars for a new one and start all over?
    Can't think of anything else I might need to know. If there is something I am missing and you could help fill in the blanks for me I would truly appreciate the help.

    Sorry, but it would not be legal to keep the 1500 songs on this iPod that were your friend's songs, assuming that he's still using/listening to them on another computer.
    3. No, I think it would be worth it to keep going, and use the 20GB iPod on your computer. It's not many hoops to jump through, and you should be up and syncing in no time.
    Overall, it's fairly easy, and I would suggest that you keep going with this iPod.
    My note from question #2:
    If you connect an iPod that hasn't been attatched to your computer before, iTunes will most likely display [to the effect of] this message when you connect the iPod for the first time:
    "The songs on the iPod "~~" are linked to another iTunes library. Would you like to replace the content of the iPod with this current iTunes library?"
    Be sure to click on "NO" when you recieve this message.
    Then, click on your iPod's name in the left panel of iTunes.
    Click on the "Music" tab.
    Deselect "Sync Music" if it is already set to this option.
    This means that your iPod is on manual managing now, instead of iTunes automatically transferring songs to your iPod, or deleting them, which is not what you want at this time.
    Now, if you have any songs on the iPod that you need to keep (i.e., if you have some of your songs on this iPod)you have a few options to transfer your iPod songs to your computer.
    Method 1 - Manually transfer your iPod songs to iTunes using MacMuse's post. See it here -> iPod songs to computer (MacMuse post)
    Method 2 - Add your iPod's folder into the iTunes library (via iTunes). Read this post here -> Using iTunes settings to transfer iPod songs to iTunes
    Method 3 - Use a third-party program to get the transferring done. For a Windows computer, CopyPod should work good. Also, you can try out YamiPod

    puis configurez la recherche comme sur cette recopie d'écran.
    puis lancez la recherche.
    Ainsi, vous allez trouver vos modèles personnalisés dans leur dossier.
    Chez moi, il y en a une kyrielle en dehors des dossiers standards parce que je renomme wxcvb.template quasiment tous mes documents Pages et wxcvb.nmbtemplate à peu près tous mes documents Numbers.
    Ainsi, quand je travaille sur un document, je ne suis pas ralenti par Autosave.

    Hi,
    usually when you upgrade, it should not delete your files, but if it happens, than you should have a backup.
    Unfortunately it is very common, that people don't know, what exactly is in the backup.
    The question is, what files exactly you are missing? Own pictures, or taken with the device? Purchased music form the iTunes Store, or own? ....
    Documents and files are mostly up to the developer of the app, if they are part of the backup, usually not and you need to transfer them before.
    In the backup you will find just pictures from the Camera Rolle folder, everything else you should have on the PC, if you had it on the device.
    Same then for music, you can transfer purchased music from the device, but your own works just one direction, from PC to device, from device to PC it doesn't work.
    In future I recomand you to be sure how the backup works or use a 3rd party app (iExplorer) where you have a little bit more "freedome" than with iTunes.
    Or you maybe just restored from the worng backup
