Question Using E2500 on a LAN Network

I have a home network using the E2500 for my laptop & iPad.  I will be travelling to Germany & staying at a University dorm that has a wired LAN connection in the room.  I would like to take my iPad (no ethernet port) instead of lugging my laptop abroad.  Can I simply connect my E2500 to the university LAN without any further configuration of the router & use it as I would at home?

You may need to reconfigure the router to get it to work in this setup. The router needs to be configured depending on how the internet service works. Since your router is configured to work with your current ISP, you will need to reset the router. Connect an ethernet port from the LAN connection to the internet port of the E2500. If this doesn't get the connection working right away, access the router's page to adjust some settings.
What IP address does your computer get when connected directly to the university LAN? If the computer's IP is 192.168.1.x, you will need to change the router's IP to resolve the IP conflict. If this isn't the computer's IP range, you may need to enable MAC address clone to get the connection going. Internet connection type should be Automatic Configuration- DHCP.

  • Using a Wify-to-LAN bridge to wire my time capsule into the network

    Hi,
I have a time capsule as the core of my small private network, and I'm moving into a building which has a centralized internet connection which only has WiFi support, not a chance to get a wired connection.
I do want my time capsule to connect to the network so I can connect all my other devices to it. I have searched and read a lot about it and the conlcusion is that the time capsule will not connect to the wifi network and act as a router/network hub at the same time. Additionally I have several devices that can only be connected through an ethernet phsyical connection, for which I want to use the time capsule.
I have thought of using a Wifi-to-lan bridge such as, for instance, this http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Universal-Ethernet-Adapter-WNCE2001/product-review s/B003KPBRRW. Do you think that will work? do you have any advice as to how to get my time capsule online?
    Thanks in advance!!

conlcusion is that the time capsule will not connect to the wifi network and act as a router/network hub at the same time.
    That would be correct.
I have thought of using a Wifi-to-lan bridge such as, for instance, thishttp://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Universal-Ethernet-Adapter-WNCE2001/product-review s/B003KPBRRW.
I have no idea whether this will work.
However, if you configure an AirPort Express to "join" the Wi-Fi network, you can then connect an Ethernet cable from the AirPort Express to the Time Capsule and configure the Time Capsule as a normal router to set up your own private network for wired and wireless devices.
In effect, the Airport Express acts as a "modem" for your network in this type of setup, even though the terminology is not exactly correct.

  • [Question] Dynamic NAT on 2 different networks

    Hi,
I just want to ask if its possible to have same dynamic translation within 2 different networks like:
    interface gig 0/1
    1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 (LAN Connection w/ DHCP enabled)
    inteface gig 0/2
    2.2.2.1 255.255.255.0 (Wireless Connection w/ DHCP enabled)
Actually, the scenario was 1.1.1.1 is my LAN connection and 2.2.2.1 are my Wireless connection.
Hope this merits their favorable response. Thanks.

    Hi,
Do you mean that you want both of the said LAN networks to use Dynamic NAT/PAT towards a third interface on the ASA?
If you simply want to use the same NAT/PAT address for 2 different networks on the ASA then you can use the following configurations as example
These are PAT translations to a single IP address. Using a NAT Pool would change the configurations slightly.
For ASA software 8.2 and below
    global (outside) 100 3.3.3.1
    nat (inside) 100 1.1.1.0 255.255.255.0
    nat (wireless) 100 2.2.2.0 255.255.255.0
    Where
outside, inside and wireless = Interface "nameif" on the ASA firewall
100 = Is just an ID number for the NAT configuration. You can use other one also
For ASA software 8.3 and after
    object-group network PAT-SOURCE-NETWORKS
    network-object 1.1.1.0 255.255.255.0
    network-object 2.2.2.0 255.255.255.0
nat (inside, outside) after-auto source dynamic PAT-SOURCE NETWORKS interface
nat (wireless, outside) after-auto source dynamic PAT-SOURCE NETWORKS interface
    Where
PAT-SOURCE-NETWORKS = Is an "object-group" where you can define the source networks for the NAT/PAT rule
Hope this helps Please if you found the information helpfull
Feel free to ask more if this didnt answer your question.

  • Getting most benefits of your LAN network

Thanks to take time to read this post.
I'm a *regular Mac user* who work on a small business and we using 8 mac vs 2 PC on our next work, recently i setup a mac (the holdes one in the place, a hold G4), as a "server". In fact, it is just a computer with standard *OS 10.5.X (not the server edition).* We use it *to share files* on a shared folder so avery body connect as guest and they drop files into the folder for other people. I also use it to create a *intranet site* where i can create HTML pages to display paste projets and internet links. I also create a *HTTPS file sharing* over the internet site (using CrushFTP) for transferring big files with clients, i use HTTPS becose i heard that is more secure than a FTP site. And finilly whe put lots of external hardrive on this mac and we *backup files* using Time Machine for people with Macbook, so they can backup wirelesly without aving to connect any hard drive to there Macbook.
So, *avery thing work fine but...* (becose there a but) I would like to get a little more of this setup.
1- I would like to be able to *connect to the LAN network over the internet* so any body at home can connect to there Mac at office. For the momment, with the HTTPS site we can only connect to the server. How can i setup de "Server" or the rooter to be able to connect to any mac in the network.
2- All the mac in the network use manuel IP adresse, i meen that the DHCP is close in the netwook. I did that becose it whase easier to create applescript apps to automate things, but *is that secure to have stable adresse* for all the mac if the LAN is accessible on the internet.
3- *What about security* wath do i have to do to make those new setup secure, so nobody get abuse by hakers or any other abusewares?
4- For the moment, the intranet web site is a standard first generation HTTP site without any interraction possible. If someone wan to add info there, he have to transfert my the stuf and i edit the html files with dreamweaver. I would like to give the possibility to all the workers to *edit html like the next generation of web site*, where i have to look for that, do i nead OS X Server? Is there a software to create site like this, like CrushFTP do, for the FTP site? I try to read on that but it's vary confusing. For exemple there a page on the intranet that show internet links for web site in relation to a projet, i would like to put a button so if you want to add a next like you just press in and copy the web adress and press ok to redefind the web page.
5- That's about it for the moment, i would like the create with this post a : *How to get most of your Mac office network for Dummies*, for people that like mac put dont studing in cumputer networking or things like that.
Hope to have lost of posts, and i hope to help other with that

You need to setup routes between ports on the external IP address and addresses/ports on the internal LAN. I haven't done this in about 8 years so I can't tell you how. I would just recommend you get a tool like IPNetRouter to do it for you. Just setup a unique external port/internal address/port for each machine. If your server is directly connected, you can do it there. If you have some sort of router, add your routes on that device.
Also, you haven't specified how you want to connect to the internal machines. You will have to decide that. You can route anything you want, but you need to know and plan for it.

That is fine. It will make establishing external connections easier.

You have Macs, so that is a good start. Just be sure to limit any routes that are visible to the outside world. Hackers will be able to get it and you will have to stop them on the client side.
Or, if you have more money and/or time, you could setup a VPN.

That is pretty open-ended. There are lots of ways you could do this: Content Management systems, configuration management systems (CVS), or dozens of other tools.

As of June 2010 I no longer maintain this FAQ. I’ve migrated to Lightroom 3, which I use for all my organizing and most of my editing (I still use the Photoshop Elements Editor for more involved editing).  Adobe has clearly decided not to invest sufficient resources for properly maintaining the Photoshop Elements Organizer– see my Amazon review of PSE 8. Lightroom is marketed to professionals and prosumers with tens of thousands of photos who demand adequate organizational capabilities, whereas Photoshop Elements is marketed to consumers, most of whom do not want or use the Organizer.
This page captures my answers to frequent questions about Photoshop Elements 6, 7, and 8 (Windows).  It’s mostly about the Organizer, since I know the Organizer much better than the Editor.
The versions to which each FAQ applies are indicated with the notation [PSE 6, 7, 8]. If I’m not sure whether something applies to a version, it will be indicated with a question mark, e.g. [PSE 7, 8?].

  • HP 6700 - Scan to mail through LAN network

    Hi,
My printer is connected with a LAN cable to our corporation network (not with a USB cable direct to my computer)
The printer is installed and shared on our print server and i connect my computer to the printer through this server.
Is it possible on that model to configure scan to mail through our LAN network?
Couldn't understand if it's possible or not...
    Thanks.

    Hi MaorZ,
Welcome to the HP Support forums. I gather that you would like to know if you can use the scan to email feature on your Officejet 6700 printer in a business network environment.
The Officejet 6700 is a consumer/household product and all the documentation we have is based on consumer usage not a business network environment.  I’ve included the consumer document How to Scan: From the Control Panel (Including How to Scan Photos and Documents) with the steps to set it up.

No, not unless it is simply a network connection.
How is your IPTV being provided.. if it is using a separate vlan or separate vpi/vci in the adsl connection. Who is your ISP?
    Is the TP-Link ADSL?
Is the IPTV using a separate voice channel on adsl?
    Or a different vlan.
Sorry but it is something where a definite answer is not possible unless you provide all the details.
The setups are unique to each ISP around the world..
Here is one for our local ISP.

Google around and see if other people have had success.. the whole setup is tricky.. and it is hard if nobody has used it who actually understands networking.

  • Can I enable "Use default gateway on remote network" on VPN connection using Group Policy?

    Hi,
First timer here so please bear with me!
Environment: Domain Windows 2003, Clients: Windows 7 and Windows XP (with Client Side Extensions pushed out)
When creating a VPN connection on a client machine manually with default settings the "Use default gateway on remote network" found in [Connection Properties - Networking - IPv4 - Advanced] is enabled, which is good as we don't allow split-tunneling.
I have a test GPO that creates a new VPN Connection [Computer Config - Preferences - Control Panel - Network Options], but the above setting is unticked.
Am I missing something on the options for the GP preference to set this automtically?
I can write a script to directly change the C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk\rasphone.pbk file but would prefer if I could sort it all out using Group Policy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks a lot!
    David

    Shane,
There is actually a way to set the "Use default gateway on remote network" through Group Policy Preferences. And this may even be a better way to do it, because you may change this flag without touching any other settings, or other VPN connections.
(All VPN connections are stored in the same .pbk file.)
Here's the trick: Opening the .pbk file in notepad, I realized that this is actually an oldstyle ini-structured file. And Group Policy Preferences can update ini files! In the .pbk file the section names are the VPN connections names, like [My VPN],
and the property IpPrioritizeRemote is the flag "Use default gateway on remote network".
So, in Group Policy Management Editor, go to Preferences / Windows Settings / Ini Files.
Create a new object with Action = Update, and File Path =
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Connections\pbk\rasphone.pbk
(If this is where your file is located, I guess it is in c:\users if the VPN connection is made for a single user.)
Section Name should be the display name of your VPN connection, without the brackets.
    Property Name = IpPrioritizeRemote
    Property Value = 1

    Peter :-)
This is great, but just one question. I also want to append a list of DNS Sufixes in order (when viewing a VPN properties, this is buried in
"Networking --> IPv4/6 --> Advanced --> DNS --> Append these DNS Suffixes (in order)". However, for the VPNs I have manually created with this list populated, I can't see any entries in the rasphone.pbk. Does anyone know
    where these are stored?
    Cheers.

  • How do I tether my iPhone to my PS3 by using t-mobile or three network?.

Hi there my question is how do I tether my iPhone to my PS3 using three or t-mobile network?.

Not really sure what you're talking about, but it has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.  Did you read the other posts?
The SSID identifying the phone's WiFi personal hotspot isn't hidden, and shows up in other devices without needing to be entered.  If you're talking about the WiFi password that has to be entered in the connecting devices, that can be changed in the phone settings:
    Settings > General > Network > Personal Hotspot > WiFi Password >

  • RV042 quick VPN client cant ping lan network

    Hi guys,
I've just created a client2gateway IPSec tunnel on RV042 and use Quick VPN client on remote PC trying to connect this router.
Quick VPN showed the tunnel was establised. But I couldn't ping the Lan network behind the router RV042.
    Can anyone help me ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I modified the client2gateway mode to Client access mode.
Now I can ping (from QuickVPN client) to 172.16.1.0/24 network behind the router RV042.
But if I put another subnet as 10.92.x.0 behind this router, I still can't ping. Since Client access configuration is too simple, I cannot find a way to modify the subnet.
Seems 172.16.1.0 is default. Am I right?

Hi ,  Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a terrific place to find answers and tips!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide. Learn How to Post and More  I understand that you have lost your network capability on your notebook and are unable to do a restore back to when it was working.  You are unable to install drivers for the LAN devices. Have you checked for viruses and malware?  MS Malicious Software Removal Tool Would you do this step, which will scan for corrupted files and try to repair them. Go to the command prompt  and run as administrator. Press Windows key +C to open charms.Type command prompt in the search bar.Right click and run as administrator.Type sfc /scannow and press enter.Once this completes restart your notebook and repeat this process once more. Now open Device Manager and show hidden devices, if the network adapters are not showing scan for hardware changes. Next you can try a HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).  This will reinstall the operating system and should not affect your personal files. If the network adapters are still not listed in the Device Manager, I would test the network adapter for a hardware failure. HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8).  Network should be listed under the component test in the UEFI which is the one you want to utilize. If for any reason that options is not available or the adapter is not recognized, if warranty is not a concern you can try reseating the network card. The next step would be to try a recovery back to factory.HP PCs - Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8) During the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss. If you have not already done a backup I suggest you do one now. HP PCs - Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 8) You can contact HP support for assistance or repair options at any time. Please contact HP support at Contact HP Support If you are not in warranty and you determine a repair is necessary you may also consider a local repair shop.  To say thanks for replying please click the thumbs up icon below. If this resolved your difficulty please notify people by choosing solution provided.  Good Luck.

  • I want to use time machine on a network drive

i know in the past Apple holds us hostage to buy their time capsule.  With Lion now launched, is there a work around to allow families to buy there own hard drive and use it for multiple macs for time machine?
Im fairly new to Mac, convinced my wife to switch, now here we are held captive to buy a TC when we already have a fantastic 2TB drive we purchased for a fraction of the price of a TC.  I dont care about wifi, I just want to save our Mini time machine to our MBP networked drive (or vice versa).
I currently have Lion on the MBP, and Leopard on the Mini.  After installing and hating Lion on my MBP, i have not "upgraded" the mini.  (although I am currently following the "upgrade back to Leopard" threads)
Thanks for any help or ideas.

In the past Apple was not holding you hostage by requiring you to use a Time Capsule for network Time Machine backups. Search on Google for Time machine NAS OS X (or something like that) You will find a number of drives that were working with SL.
Now, they did change the file protocol in Lion, so some of the NAS servers won't work with Lion, at the moment. So long as it is a decent company that makes the NAS they should be releasing a firmware update to get their NAS working with Lion.
One of the companies that put out a press release was Western Digital. They said they would be working on an updated firmware so that you could use it as a Time Machine drive.
Just look around the interwebs and I am sure you will find several that will work.

  • Is there any way to set up an Airport Extreme that had been previously used in a password protected network and the password was not provided by the seller ?

    Background -
My original Airport Extreme Base Station failed (would not connect to the modem). I purchased a similar, if not identical base station on eBay. Unfortunately, the purchased base station apparently was used in a password protected network. For what it is worth, my son gave me a Netgear wireless router, but it leaves a lot to be desired. For one thing, I use to keep the cable modem in the basement along with the Airport base station, with a printer connected to the USB port. The Netgear device does not have a USB port and also requires that the computer (in this case, the eMac) used to set up the network be connected to one of the ethernet ports. This meant I had to move the cable modem and router into my bedroom, a very undesirable situation. It then occurred to me that the original Airport base station Wi-Fi function might still work, and tested this hypothesis and sure enough, the Wi-Fi function does indeed work I currently have both base stations powered on, with my printer connected to the original. Both base stations appear under my Network icon, but neither Airport Utility 5.4.2 or Airport Administrator Utility 4.2 see either base station. I can select the original base station as my network, connect to the printer or even my other computers, but as soon as I try to select the new one, it asks for the password. I would like to somehow reset this base station and then redefine the network name and encryption.

I would suggest that you perform a "soft" reset on the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) that you just got from eBay. This type of reset will temporarily (5 minutes) disable both the base station and wireless security passwords so that you can access it with the AIrPort Utility to make the necessary changes.
