Questionable programming on Channel 35

Several Saturday nights ago about 11:20 pm , I was flipping through the local channels and was shocked to see a filmed session of a man paddling a woman on Channel 35!
At first I thought I had stumbled upon a CineMax channel but soon realized that this was indeed one of the local access channels...This was definitely an amateur production but it was a bit surprising that Verizon would allow this type of programming to a company named NYCSEXYHONIES.COM....
I thought these channels were reserved for community organizations and not internet porn sites.....Where's the oversight from Verizon????
Not sure if I was the only person who caught this "show."

I hear what you are saying about censorship of content but I just didn't think these channels are supposed to be used for free advertisement of porn sites..
This programming is very objectionable when community groups who have very positive messages can't seem to get on these channels!! Just don't think free access for this ADULT SERVICE is how these channels should be used....
No one is arguing with your objection, they are only indicating that you are complaining in the wrong place.  Local access channel capability is provided by Verizon, however your local franchise authority / minuicipality controls who has access not Verizon.

  • Question about BlazeDS Channel internals

There is much useful information available about how an application developer would use BlazeDS to implement their application, but there is a shortage of information about how BlazeDS is implemented.  There are very general architecture diagrams, but no information on the actual network technologies employed.  This information is essential for forming estimates of the server hardware requirements of a design.  The alternative is to build the application one way, and then discover the performance characteristics afterwards.
For one feature of my application, the ideal structure would be to give the clients and mx.Consumer to receive non-polling stream of changes replicated from the database.  In this particular feature, there would be no subtopics, each client would receive the same data.  The question is would BlazeDS/Flex give each client 1 persistent socket to support the stream.  If this is the case, then this design poses a very significant load on the server.  It makes it easy for the developer, because he writes to only one topic, but if under the covers, the server is writing to one socket for each client.  It will require a lot of hardware.
Or, to state the question another way, would BlazeDS/flex use multicast, when there is a client Consumer subscribing to a topic, with no subtopics?

I have just found one clear statement in the BlazeDS documentation with regard to sockets when streaming:
"The Servlet API uses blocking IO so as with long polling above, you must set a configured upper bound on the number of streaming connections you allow. Clients that exceed this limit are not able to open a streaming connection and will fall back to the next channel in their channel set."
    BlazeDS Developer Guide, page 50.
This I did not expect, since non-blocking IO has been part of Java for over 5 years in the NIO package.  If I were to deploy BlaseDS on an Intel sized box, I suspect the blocking IO would limit me to maybe 300 concurrent users.  If this is true, it means that both streaming and long polling are unusable for almost any application on the public web.
Maybe the only option is to write a server in Java NIO that communicates with Flash Sockets.
    Did I miss something?

  • CAN program using Channel API receives only 0

    Hello everyone,
I'm get in stuck. I'm currently programming CAN interface for a transmission using PXI, Channel API and a .dbc file.
CAN configuration based on .dbc file is downloaded to PXI by MAX.
The problem is that it receives 0 for all the values by Channel API based program (Attached file), though it seems receiving meaningful data when I check raw data by Frame API based program.
Baudrate, CAN port, and .dbc file are correct.
    thanks!

    Hi Yuta
What I am expecting is that the sample rate is being set to high. When using the multiple channel - single sample instance of the CAN read vi, it will return a single sample for every period. The number of samples to read input is actually ignored and it will return a single sample for every channel specified. Therefore, if no data has been received within the sample period specified with the sample rate, it will return the default value as specified in the database file.
Due to the high sample rate, it might be that data is being received, but aren't visible on screen since they are quickly being overwritten by new (default) data. I suggest trying to use the Multiple Channels - Multiple Samples instance of the CAN Read vi to see if you receive values in this case. Or you could try lowering the sample speed (note that sample rate is not the same as CAN baud rate).
Also, make sure you are properly reading the data already in MAX's test panel as this would indicate if the database file is loaded properly.

  • Questions on pipe channel and e-mail processing

    Hi There,
We currently have a sendmail (on Solaris) based system that we use for our primary MTA. Our iMS5.2 (on Solaris 8) is used for message storage. We will want to migrate our sendmail system to the Iplanet MTA. However, I need some ideas on how to handle one of our scenarios: We have numerous sendmail aliases that pipe the message through a script. That script will then send a notification message to a group of users and then archive the E-mail into a directory.
I've looked at the docs regarding the "pipe" channel. It looks like I could define a bogus "alias-pipe" user and use the mailAlternateAddress field to define my various alias destinations. Then the script could just "switch" on the destination user to perform whatever actions are necessary. Everything I've read seems to indicate that processing e-mail through a program requires defining a user and that user then specifies the method to use. That requires "registering" the method using the "imsimta program" mechanism. I'd like to minimize the amount of work involved with updating and adding new alias programs. Does the above solution make sense, or am I headed down a deadend? Is there a better way to do this?
If I were to use the MTA's aliases file, could I send directly to the pipe channel?
    Thanks for your input,
    Roger S.

    Roger-
We are in exactly the same boat as you. Migrating from sendmail (AIX) to iMS 5.2 on Solaris. Everything is done except for trying to figure out how to handle the old sendmail aliases file. All indication are that the aliase would optimally reside in the LDAP. I'm looking into the unix2ldif utility to see if I can figure out some way of getting it to work. We have hundreds (literally) of aliases that need to be incorporated into our iMS environment. Currently iMS is our primary server running a SmarHost to our old sendmail box for the sole purpose of maintaining the aliases file. I'm anxious to get moved off of the old beast. I would be very interested to hear any solution you come up with. I have been dissapointed in the iMS documentation in the regard.

  • Newbie questions - reordering Freeview channels an...

Hi, I've had BT Vision for two days, and so far so good! Actually, it's much better than I was expecting. However, I've got a couple of questions:
    1. Is it possible to reorder the Freeview channels (e.g. so that ITV2 is next to ITV2+1)?
    2. Is there a way of listing the on demand programmes that you have partially watched, or do you have to remember what they were, and track them down again to continue watching (either through the on demand listings or by searching)? Related to this, if you pause/stop a programme and switch to live TV, is there a way to switch back again?
Would really appreciate any advice from those with more experience. Many thanks,
    Ed.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1. Sadly no. Must admit I'd like that too.
    2. Pretty sure you can't do this either, but I don't use on demand that much so can't put hand on heart. It will remember how far you got through a programme, but I don't thing it will let you find it again easily. The second part of the question is more interesting. On demand and recordings have a channel number assigned to them. If, while playing an on demand programme or recording you change channel without first stopping the programme the box will remember the fact that something is playing and start it up again if you go back to the appropriate channel: 902 for on demand or 900 for your recordings, but if you stop it first you'll have to select it again from the appropriate menu.
So lets say you're watching Wonders of the Universe on Replay and you look at the clock and see it's time for the BBC news. Press 1 on the remote to go to BBC1. Then when the news is finished press 902 and you'll find Wonders will spring immediately back into life where you left it. Same works for PVR recordings on channel 900.

  • This is a very simple question about multi-channel audio playback

I have an mp4 file that i made and i made it 7.1 surround sound, and i'm pretty sure that this 7.1 surround sound works, as it can be played in VLC. i'm using netstream to load my files now. How do i make it so that flash can playback all 8-channels of sound? I suppose kglad would know the answer

Flash doesn't support multi-channel audio (yet?)

  • Bursting - question about delivery channel

Can I call scripts with one of the delivery channels? Or maybe I can do it through filter, something like
    <xapi:filesystem output = "/tmp/1.pdf" filter="/tmp/myscript.sh /tmp/1.pdf">
    ??

Many reasons. For exampel one of our request is to call web-services for some bursted file. If I could call a script this will become doable.
You mentioned BurstingStatusListener . I didnt' find any reference to BurstingStatusListener in Administration guide. Can you give some example?

  • CS6 Install Question Program Files (x86) 64 Bit

A bit confusing on Installation of CS6.
I have 8 ADOBE CS6 folders that installed into "PROGRAM FILES" and 8 installed into PROGRAM FILES (x86).
There are two versions of ILLUSTRATOR, PHOTOSHOP AND BRIDGE. One 64 Bit the other is 32 Bit.  Is that normal?
After downloading first time, I noticed on my desktop a folder -"ADOBE CS6 Production Premium"   Inside that folder was an Adobe Folder, inside that a SETUP.exe  file. So I double clicked on that...and more downloading started. (So I don't know if that was a second download, or a redundant download, normal or not?)
I don't know if ADOBE installed into the right locations?  Why into two different locations (plus a folder on my desktop?)   Is it all supposed to be in one place?
Everything WORKS. I had to create shortcuts for the programs onto my desktop. All of the software works fine.
I just don't know about the two versions of those three programs - 64 and 32 Bit versions?  Is that normal?
I also don't know why some software installed in the two different locations? Is that normal?
    THANKS!

Yes, It is absolutely fine , With CS6 we have got 32-bit and 64 bit version of the software , and it is by Windows that all the 32-bit apps get installed in the Program files(x86) folder however all the 64-bit apps get installed in Program files folder.
No need to worry just enjoy the apps !!!

  • Question: Programs that work with Nikon D600 .NEF files

I recently upgraded to the Nikon D600.  With that, I’m unable to open RAW images in the programs that I currently have (PS Elements 9).  Does Photoshop Elements 11 have the correct software (Camera Raw 7 and higher)?  Or will I need to get the full version Photoshop CS6?
Thanks for any help you can offer!

PSE11 will handle your NEF files but you will need to update immediately after installation using:
    Help >> Updates
Also look at Lightroom 5. Unlike Elements it has all of the raw tools from CS6 in an intuitive interface designed for photographers by photographers.

  • Question about Logic Channel EQ

When i use Logic Channel EQ to cut low frequencies of say, a kickdrum (in this particular case up to 200hz), the level meter on the channel increases quite a bit. I thought cutting frequencies is supposed to reduce the volume? Also there arent any other plug ins on the channel. Is this normal?

At it's default setting the low cut on the channel eq has quite a bit of filter resonance at the cutoff point. This resonant boost is what you are hearing. If you lower the Q all the way this resonance will be gone and you will get only the cut you are looking for. If you use the graphic analyzer be sure to set it to maximum resolution as it is quite misleading otherwise.

  • Question about audio channels in FCP

Because of the way audio was captured with a few clips in my sequence, the clips audio is only coming through one channel (speaker). The other channel contains nothing. How can I duplicate the channel with audio and assign it to the other speaker?

I did notice that. There are a small few of us on here.

  • [Other 865 Series] MSI 865PE Neo2-V and Dual Channel Mode Question

Hello, I have a quick question regarding dual channel mode with my current motherboard. I have an MSI 865PE Neo2-V and am wondering if it is possible to enable dual channel mode while having three RAM modules inserted in the motherboard.
For example, I currently have one 512MB PC3200 module in my computer. If I purchase another 512MB module and run them in dual channel mode, will it be possible to buy a 1GB module or another size module, and still have all three slots run in dual channel mode? Or is dual channel only operational on this motherboard if only two of the three slots are occupied?
    Thanks.

Dual channel requires an even number of sticks.

I think what you do is F-Port trunking channeling !
port-channel as a zone member ? I assume you will do pwwn based zoning; in which case the answer is NO !

  • Listings by Channel?

I just switched to Verizon FIOS from Comcast. I have a question about the Guide. Is there an easy way to view the TV listings for one channel, and then use the arrow buttons to move through the channels. For example, I want to view all of today's programs for channel 511. I then want to view all of the programs for the next channel. I know you can select the Guide and select the right arrow to move through the time slots, but in this case I only want to see the listings for one channel on screen and not all of the surrounding channels. I have searched this forum and the internet, but haven't found an answer. I know you can use the search and enter a channel number to see today's programs, but it's not easy to scroll through the channels that way. I have the QIP6416-2 DVR.
    Thanks,
    Ron

    JasonGM,
That's the way I'm doing it. Unfortunatley, Comcast had an easy way of doing this. You would go to the Menu, and select listings by channel. You could enter the channel number, and it would give the listings for that channel. You could then just push the right arrow button to move through the channels. Using the Verizon search feature, you have to do a new search for each channel that you want to view.
    Thanks for your reply!
