Questions about buying a Zen Visio

Im thinking about buying a Zen vision M but i dont want to buy it and have creative come out with a new better product like 3 months down the line because it is alot of money and i dont want that to happen, is there a new player in the works already to surpass the features of the vision M or am i pretty safe buying it, and about the screen, what are your expierences with the screen , do the movies look good? alright thanks in advance for any responses.

in regards about Creative coming out with another player, i wouldn't know but then again i wouldn't put it past them. but in terms of features, the Vision M has it all so i don't really see why they would need to come out with another one?as for the screen, it's superb, i've already watched a couple of movies on it. i will say however at certain angles, the screen is dark, but if you look at it from head on you're perfectly fine.basically if someone is sitting beside you about foot away, it will appear dark for them, but as long as they are right beside you, it's fine

  • Question about using passwords on Visio

I have another question about the Vision:M. I was curious if you're able to password protect certain folders so that in order to access them, you have to put in a password. I know you can password protect files so it can't be messed with or whatever, but it doesn't stop the files from being viewed. Is there any way to do this?

there is an option somewhere in the settings menu to hide protected files, so you can't see them or edit them till the password is entered.

  • Questions about Micro and Zen Sl

    Hello,
I'm considering buying either a Micro or a Zen Sleek and have a few questions...
) Does the above players still require a dedicated/special driver on XP like the older players did (i.e. Zen NX) ?
    2) Can the players be used as a driver-less memory dri've like a USB memory stick, or does it need a driver for this (like Zen NX)?
    3) How is Creative's PC/Windows software these days - is it still bad and better to use 3rd party software like Red Chair's ?
    4) Does the players still require 00% accurate tag info. to properly cataloque the songs on the player or can songs be manually arranged and browsed in folders like on the PC ?
    5) Can both Sleek and Micro be charged thru the USB cable ?
    That's all, thanks
    /Beano

. For the Micro, not with the v2 firmware. See the FAQ post, specificailly "the difference between the Zen Micro v and v2 firmware". It seems that the Sleek doesn't have MTP firmware yet, I can't quite make head or tail of the posts about it.
    2. Again for the Micro, it has a USB mass storage mode. You can set up to 4Gb of the disk (the partitioned space has to be free of audio files) to work in this way. For the Sleek I'm not sure.
    3. It's a matter of taste. I don't have any big problem with MediaSource, but there's plenty of options out there. See the FAQ post.
    4. Yes, accurate tag data is vital.
    5. Micro definitely. Again with the Sleek I'm not sure.

  • Questions about buying a new Mac Pro for 4k video editing.

    Hi everyone,
I'm currently looking into buying a new mac pro and I have a few questions. I'm a filmmaker/freelance editor looking to get a system that can handle any/at least most 4k formats that I might throw at it, and will hopefully last me around 7 years or so, like my last mac pro has. I've saved up about $5,300 and am becoming more obsessed with getting it asap, but am willing to wait a bit and save up more if necessary. I also play the occasional elder scrolls or civilization game, and might run windows on the new system as well. So here are my questions:
    1. I've read rumors that a newer build could be released this year, with newer processors and graphics cards. Is there anything to point to when? I tend to buy things a month before a newer version is released, and I'd like to prevent myself from doing it this time around..
Here's the Build I'm looking at:
    6 core
    2 D700s
base ram to be upgraded myself to 32Gb (2x16Gb cards leaving 2 slots empty to expand to 64Gb later)
    512Gb-1Tb internal hd
    2. Should I be considering the 8 core? I'm not too excited about the additional $1500, but I want a system that will last.
    3. Is getting the two 16Gb chips of ram and leaving two slots empty a bad idea?
    4. I currently work with FCP studio 2 and love it. Not sure whether to go with FCP X, or adobe. Any thoughts?
    5. I'm not finding many deals for cheaper ram and hard drives. OWC's prices seem to be comparable to Mac's. I want to do the ram so I have room to upgrade to 64Gb later, but are there any hard drives out there that would make it worth upgrading it myself?
I appreciate any insights you might have. I plan on getting a decent raid and 4k monitor in the next year or so, but for now just want a base system that will keep me editing and will be ready for 4k when I take that next step.

The late 2013 Mc Pro uses Intel Xeon ECC processors (error correction), and as far as I know Intel has not announced any newer Intel Xeon processors than those in the late 2013 Mac Pro.  I would not expect to see an update to the 2013 Mac Pro until the end of 2015 at the earliest and probably later than that.
If time is not an issue, then you should be quite happy with the 6 core 2013 Mac Pro.  It will do an excellent job with 4K video footage. And, yes, I would suggest getting the best raid system you can afford.  That is actually more important than processor speed since I/O is frequently the bottleneck when doing multi camera video or 4K video.
I have the latest version of Adobe's Premiere Pro 2014  CC installed on my late 2013 Mac Pro and i have used it a bit without problems.  However, I find it much much slower to edit with than FCP X.  Also be advised that if you Google you will find several individuals on the Adobe Forums who purchased the late 2013 Mac Pro and have not been able to use it with Premiere Pro CC because of either a hardware incompatibility or software issues between Premiere Pro CC and BMD's Resolve.  It is quite possible that I have not experienced these problems because I have not made very demanding projects with Premiere Pro CC on my 2013 Mac Pro.
I strongly recommend FCP X.  Apple released FCP X before it was ready, and many early users were unwilling to take the time to learn how to use this very different NLE which is not track based.  Apple has over the last 3 years since FCP X was released, issued more than 10 updates (all free), and the program is stable and blazingly fast.  I urge you to check out the FCP X training offered by Ripple Training and/or Larry Jordan. Both are inexpensive, and worth every cent.  Watch their training videos and you will be up to speed in FCP X in no time at all, and you will wish you had switched a long time ago.
If you can afford the 1 TB of PCie internal flash storage on your Mac Pro, then by all means get it.  For me 1TB is well worth the cost.
As far as editing 4K video, the format of the video will be important to the ease of editing.  For example, I am able to edit in its native format (XVAC S) several streams of 4K video form my Sony FDR-AX100 with no problems.  If I were editing Sony's XVAC format used in their professional 4K cameras, that might pose a problem that would require transcoding.  Similarly for other 4K formats. XVAC S is an easy format to edit natively because it is essentially a high bit rate h.264 format.
Best of luck on whatever you decide to do, and happy editing.
    Tom

  • Questions about the Jukebox Zen X

What is the difference between the Jukebox Zen Xtra and the Apple iPod? I'm just doing some research to find out which is better adn what the differences are. Also, can you transfer music straight from a CD player to the Jukebox Zen Xtra, or do you have to download the music to your computer first? If anyone has any information on this, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks and God bless.
    Sincerely,
    Mariah

I have tried the iPod and i currently own a Zen.
One major setback so far i have found witht he Zen is that it's not very shock resistant and unlike the iPod, it does not have a lot of anti-skip time.
One big difference for me is the scroll button on the Zen. When i tried the iPod, i really liked the wheel scroll thingy on the fron of the player. Its simple, fast and painless.
The Zen has a scroll thingy on the side. Its smaller than a finger tip and it's not so very easy to use. Also it digs into the skin and it hurts after continous use. It also doesn't feel very durable...but only time will tell.
The Zen can(unlike the iPod) play WMA WMV files. Much better sound quality, although a little bigger than mp3s.
Big plus for the Zen is the removable battery. A non-existant feature of the iPod.
The Zen does not come with a docking station, which the iPod does.
Another difference is the price. Sort of obvious there, but considerable.
I dunno...so far i have a few problems with my Zen, but i think that's specific to mine alone. If i was you...i would save a hundred bucks and get the Zen...but make sure u keep that store receipt...just in case.
Also, about your transfering music question, I am currently(as i type this) transfering from a CD straight to the player. It rips the CD first and then it sends it to the unit.
Depending on computer speed and whether you have USB 2 or not, it can take less than 5 minutes for 5 tracks.

  • Few questions about buying an iPhone in the US for European use

We're currently in NY and are considering buying an iPhone because it's way cheaper here than in Belgium.
Still we have a few questions, hope we can get some answers
    - You should unlock your iPhone, should we ask for that right away in the Apple store ?
    - Doest unlocking cost any money, if yes, how much ?
    - What happens to your warranty, can you go to a Belgian Apple store if something happens to your iPhone ?
    - Can customs make any problems if you get one or more iPhones unboxed in your baggage ?
Anyone who has done this and wants to share their experience, any other things we have to know ?
    Thanks in advance!

Warranty will be valid only in the US. You will have to return the iPhone
personally or via friend/relative. Apple will not accept international
shipments for evaluation nor will Apple ship out of the country after
repair/replacement. You cannot have your US purchased iPhone serviced
    or replaced in the US.
LTE/4G on an iPhone purchased in the US will not work outside of North America.
Tax, import duty, customs fees are best discussed with the appropriate governmental
    entities in Belgium.
Be sure to ask in the Apple store for an unlocked iPhone - you will pay full retail price
plus applicable taxes. There is no charge to get the iPhone unlocked.

  • Questions about buying a new MacBook pro with SSD

Hello, I am about to buy a new MacBook pro. I'm going to get the 13 inch 2.8 dual core i7. I want a solid state drive also. I was going back and forth between the 128 gig or the 256 but I will probably get the 256. My computer will ship with lion but i am so confused about the TRIM support. Does lion take care of this? Dop I have to do anything like run a command or program to take care of TRIM?  Also, are solid states reliable? Should I get apple care? ( i really don't want to. Lol)

I suggest you buy the notebook with the standard drive and the standard RAM, if you were thinking about upgrading the RAM.
You can replace the original drive with a SSD at a lower cost then what Apple charges You can also buy RAM for a MUCH lower price.
    TRIM:
Lion only supports TRIM natively when used with a Apple SSD. BUT, REALLY BUT, You can enable TRIM support yourself on the SSD you install. I have a SSD in my MBP that I installed and I have enabled TRIM support on it.
Are SSDs reliable? As far as I can tell Yes they are. I have one in my Win 7 desktop PC for the last 9 months, No Problems. I have a SSD installed in my Dell Win 7 Notebook for the last 1.5 months, No Problems. I have a SSD installed in my MBP for the last month+, No problems. There are reports of SSDs failing but there are also report of standard hard drive failing all the time.
I used Intel 320 series SSDs in my 2 Windows PCs and a Kingston V200 SSD in my MBP. I switched to the Kingston because of the price and it runs on the higher SATA III bus speed, 6GB, where as the Intel 320 series only run at the 3GB speed, SATA II.

  • Questions about buying new Macbook

I have a 2001 iBook, still going and going. It was my first computer. I want to replace it by buying a Macbook. I make webpages, blog, no videogaming, no heavy graphics apps (like PS), only a couple of third-party apps.
I'm very short of breath so, even though there is an Apple Store in town, it's much better for me to order the Macbook, printer, and any accessories at the online Apple Store, if possible.
    1) The 2001 iBook out-of-box had 128mb RAM. I had to install more RAM (upped it to 384mb RAM) because 128mb was really not sufficient, even with my lightweight use. It had seemed slow and clunky performance-wise. I would rather just buy a Macbook with enough RAM to begin with. Is 1GB going to be the same problem - not quite enough? Should I buy the $1299 2GB model?
    2) The HD was replaced through AppleCare a year after I got the iBook. I wondered if it was my fault in a way because I was new to computers (I had a lot of Kernel Panics at first and once, without thinking I unplugged the computer at the wall socket once during an electrical storm, not realizing that wasn't a good way to shut down). Since then there have been no problems. Now that I have a even touch, work speed, and a sense of how the computer files are organized, I'm not a raw novice. I don't plan to experiment with the Macbook or make myself a rootuser, just work within the GUI. Do I really need AppleCare on the new Macbook? Are those AppleCare repairs largely brought on by user damage? I don't want to buy AppleCare unless it's suicide not to.
    3) I have the iBook on my desk on a piece of cardboard. It never overheats. It has never left my desk, and I don't ever use it on my lap. I like the iBook because it's compact, not because I want to carry it around to coffee shops. However, does a Macbook need some sort of special support like Rain Design iLap to raise it off the desk so it doesn't overheat?
    4) Can I buy the $29 Apple iPod Earphones to plug into the Macbook?
    5) Is iKlear really safe to use on screens? (I've always used water on my iBook, not very effective.)

You'll see a big difference switching from iBook to MacBook.
Unless you need the Superdrive, get the cheapest MB with a CD drive or for more money saving buy a refurbished from the online store. Adding RAM and changing the hard drive is easy to do in the MB if you need to do it later.
Applecare is only two years added to the original one year. You seemed to do fine without it for a number of years on the iBook so why worry about it. Applecare does not cover user inflicted damage, just manufacturing faults.
I have a new Penryn MB which does not seem to have any heat problem but I still use an incline base under it for the typing angle. I sometimes pressure the MB with PS, video, burning and such but no problems.
With the world aflame with iPods and other MP3 players, you can get a wide selection of earphones at most computer/electronic stores. I like the in-ear type which makes the music sound like it is in the middle of my brain instead of coming from the outside.
iKlear is recommended by Apple but I find it streaky. I use a moist cloth, don't touch the screen and keep my hands clean when using the computer.

  • Some questions about buying an Ipad2

I want to buy an Ipad2 but if I order it online I need to wait for 2 or 3 weeks.
I am in Manchester(UK), by any chance the Apple store will stock some Ipad everyday??
Cuz if there are I would rather queuing outside the shop than wait for the order.
    Can anyone answer my question?!?
    Thx xxx

    You can pre-order.
    1. At 9pm go to to apple website for the machester store: http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/manchesterarndale/
    2. Then click Reserve Now and follow the instructions.
This worked for me. However, there is limited supply so you have to be online and ready to go at 9pm or you will miss the boat. Also, you have to collect next day.

Can the Zen Micro Photo only do one thing at a time? Like you can't have pics and music at the same time? "The 5GB version will hold 6000 photos or 2500 songs*. " thats what the website says...im confused please help!
That is referring to the maximum capacity if you were to only use it to play MP3's or only to use it for photo viewing.
So yes, you can carry both MP3 (and other music formats for that matter) as well as pictures at the same time. One can even assume you'll be able to view photos while listening to music.

  • Hello everybody, I hope you are all well and enjoying the day.. I have a question about buying a LABTOP.   I don't know what to get and my illness makes it hard to w

Hello,  I hope everyone is doing well.
I am looking for an inexpensive laptop to run any or all Adobe programs on them.
I am taking classes at a local college so I can changed my life. The problem is that I have
something called Fibromyalgia; which is a fancy word for wide spread pain and just when
your Dr. runs out of things to check for. Basically sitting in a chair too long hurts my body.
dose anyone have an idea of what Labtop to buy or what I should make sure the
computer has in it before I buy it. Are there any laptops out there right now that can
    handle running adobe programs.

    Re: That garbage is unreadable.
If you really want help, stop messing with the fonts and post so that others can read and offer suggestions.
Or better yet... try a search, I'm certain you'll find a solution to whatever issue you're experiencing.
I have found that many times it is the things that make you most angry that push you to action. This was the case here. Thank you for causing me to get so angry that I found the answer myself.

  • Question about buying a new macbook for developing

I am looking to buy a macbook for iOS mobile app development. My current macbook is a 2010 white macbook 250GB storage and 2GB memory. It is full of music videos and everything else I have downloaded in the past 5 yeaIt will only be for using Xcode and browsing the internet. I am looking at a Macbook Air or Pro but I don't know exactly how much power I will need. What macbook would best suit my needs?

For me there is always  something else I need to get the job done besides what I had originally planned to use. So have extra resources to include this is alway helpful. You may not suffer the same problem as I do.
Besides when I am in the development mode, the last thing I want is for the computer I am working on to slow down. For me this is a terrible distraction and could be the reason I do my developmental work on a Mac Pro. But then you might not be as sensitive to computer speed as I am. I have been told i am hypersensitive to computer speed.

    Hi Sara,
The minimum system requirements for that player are:
    Microsoft? Windows? 98SE/Me/2000/XP
If you have Windows98 (not SE), then that won't work correctly, it does not have proper USB support.

  • Question About Buying a Charger at the Apple Store

My Powerbook's charger is broken (the piece that goes into the port snapped off) and I was wondering if it is possible to purchase a new charger at the Apple Store. I know I can just order one online, but if I buy one at the store, I won't have to wait for them to deliver it. I am currently borrowing my sister's charger, but she needs to use it as well, so I want to have a new one for myself as soon as possible. I also need to know if the Apple Store accepts cash, as I do not have a credit card (my dad has one, but I don't know how soon he would be able to go to the Apple Store as it is a few hours away from our home).
    Thank you.

Alex, it will be worth your effort to locate the phone number of your local Apple store and make sure they have the charger in stock before you make the trip.
    2nd Everywhere takes cash
    Cheers Don,
Oh one last thing If you would have ordered it online you would have had it the next day. 2 different times I have ordered online, a charger like your after and an Airport Extreme Base Station and both arrived the next day FED EX.
