Questions about latest updates

Today on my PC I had the options of updating Photoshop CC, Photoshop CC 2014, Bridge and Lightroom. I have two questions;
1. Prior to updating Photoshop CC, the version was 14.2.1 x64, after updating, the version was the same. Is that correct?
2. What is Photoshop 2014, I havn't updated this one yet, as I don't particularly want two versions of Photoshop.
Also,the update choices differ between my PC and laptop
On my Laptop, the only updates were for Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC 2014, no Lightroom or Bridge update, why would this differ from my PC?
I used the Update feature within Lightroom to update from v5.4 to v5.5, but the update link just took me to a download of v5.4
Can somebody please help to clarify what's going on?

The only explanations I can find for the Photoshop 2014 version are details about it's functionality. What I'm more interested in knowing is does this replace Photoshop CC when installed or does it sit side by side, meaning I'll now have two versions - if so, why? So in a couple of years time, I'll have Photoshop CC, Photoshop CC 2014, Photoshop CC 2015 and Photoshop CC 2016. That will be fun!
Also, I have exactly the same Win 7 and Creative Cloud and PS licensing and versions on my laptop and PC, but the options are different in the Creative Cloud app, for example I can't update Lightroom to 5.5 on my laptop but can on my PC.
Also, as I said in my original post, prior to updating Photoshop CC, the version was 14.2.1 x64, after updating, the version was the same. Is that correct?

Currently, my T61's screen is 14.1 XGA TFT 1028x768, and it can't work, thus I am considering to replace it with the better 14.1" SXGA+ LCD SCREEN .

Question about Software Updates in the Netherlands

Hello all,
! am new to the Netherlands and plan to buy the Lumia 1020. I have a question regarding FW updates over here:
Which network delivers the fastest updates generally or does the un-locked (country specific) phone get it first?
Also, if i choose to buy the phone on contract here, after the expiry of the contract, do i have to unlock the phone or will the provider do it for me? (Assuming that the phones are locked to the network in the first place, if not, please let me know!)
PS: I come from India, where we don't have phones on contracts and also receive updates very quickly!

generally if you want to free yourself from the constraints of networks, your best bet is to purchase an unlocked, unbranded handset from in-store or online. bear in mind that if you buy a handset from origin of another country in the EU, the warranty will still apply, but buy a 1020 that has a product code from outside the EU, then the warranty won't apply. something to be careful about.
as for operators delivering updates faster than others, this varies between updates, and really noone is able to predict this. as for the unlocking, that is between you and your network carrier, Nokia has nothing to do with this.

Driver & Application Questions
• Where do I download drivers and applications for my product  To download drivers and applications, please follow these steps: Click on SupportClick on DownloadsChoose the region you are in, and the countrySelect your product type, then your specific product/model and click next Choose your Operating System (such as Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit)Begin to download the various programs needed.
• Will future driver releases be certified for Windows Vista  Yes, all of our future releases will be Microsoft certified.
• Applications from the original Sound Blaster X-Fi CD do not work in Windows Vista. Will there be downloads available for all missing applications and when  Driver downloads and basic software such as the Audio Console are available for download from our web site. • Why does the packaging say Windows Vista Ready when there is no Vista-compatible install CD in the packaging  This is to indicate that drivers are available online to support Windows Vista.

• Why is it taking so long for Creative to provide full driver and application support for its products in Windows Vista, given the 6 year development time of the OS  Even though Windows Vista has been in development for several years and in public beta for a long time, the key reason for delays in providing finalised signed drivers for Windows Vista which affected several manufacturers is that the audio features in Windows Vista were incomplete until a few months before its final release. Other features in Windows Vista such as APO s (Audio Processing Objects) could not be installed for our products until do***entation and tools were available from Microsoft. This was an issue for all aftermarket sound card vendors. Since we received the correct tools and do***entation for implementation, we began working diligently to finish the development and release the driver updates for our range. Given the considerable number of products, it is not feasible to release everything at once, so we staggered the driver release schedule.
• There is a lengthy gap between driver releases. Would it be possible to have more frequent beta-version releases  We focus on delivering stable driver sets as this is more efficient than multiple interim releases. We anticipate releasing a further X-Fi update in the end-May/June timeframe. Feature Loss
• Why is SPDIF passthrough not working with Windows Vista 64-bit's Will it ever  SPDIF passthrough is available in the latest X-Fi update. For the Audigy Series, we cannot support this feature in Windows Vista 64-bit.
• Will decoding of Dolby Digital and DTS signals be supported in the future If not, why not  These functions are not supported at driver level in Windows Vista and going forward will be supported at application level by applications such as Power DVD or WinDVD.
• Will DVD-Audio be supported in the future  We are not supporting DVD-Audio in Windows Vista.
• Will 6.1 speaker mode be available in future drivers If not, is this because of Creative or Microsoft  No, as Windows Vista does not support this speaker configuration.
Bugs/Specific Issues
• Why is the CPU utilization on some Windows Vista systems significantly higher when using X-Fi CMSS-3D than on Windows XP  This is a 3rd party product issue on which Creative cannot comment. We have made CPU utilization improvements in the forthcoming X-Fi update.
• Why do I get BSOD and system instability when an X-Fi card is installed in my Windows Vista system with 4GB or more of RAM  This issue will be addressed in the next X-Fi driver update. It is also recommend to check with your motherboard manufacturer for the latest version of the motherboard BIOS.
• Enabling the Crystalizer during ASIO Playback with an Elite Pro causes reproduceable BSODs (CTEXFIFX.DLL) why  We have reproduced this issue and are working on a solution.

Every time I open/start Firefox, in addition to my previously opened tabs (if any), it opens (or has started opening) an additional... 4-7 tabs...

The "Mozilla Firefox Start Page"
and (sometimes?) a "New Tab" consosting of the 'most frequent' pages...*
* Refuses t update itself...Such as whe/if I unpin previously pinned sites in order to re-arrange them... [<places 1, 4,5,6 pinned> ...adjust it by unpinning 4-6 and re-pin them in/to places 2-4>]... Every time FF closes and re-opens, it resets to the previous 1,4,5,6 pins, with the EXACT SAME pages in the unpinned places... Deleting and repinning, or changing up the pinned pages does nothing for the long run...when the browser ENDS and stats up again...Back to the previous "setup"
Wanting/needing help getting it to STOP opening the unwanted "thank you for updating / latest changes to" tabs, and updating the most recent tabs/sites collection.

1. Start Firefox

2. Close the unwanted tabs
* Done
3. Wait 2 minutes
* Done...repeatedly to the point that there's been -HOURS- between FF sessions.
4. Restart Firefox and see if the tabs still appear on startup.
* Done, and -YES-

FF_BEFORE_restart.png -- Showing the current tabs opened, also depicting the "New Tab" window and it's 'speed dial' offering of most viewed pages
FF_ADJUSTED_Speed_Dial_window.png -- Showing (generally) how I put my speed dial windows.
FF_AFTER_Restart.png -- FireFox AFTER closing it and restarting it.
FF_RESET-Speed_Dial_Window.png -- The New Tab tab/window as it appears after adjusting, de-cluttering and "prettyfying" it.
You CAN ignore the 2nd & 4th pictures, as that problem isn't immediatly important...But yes, so far, closing the "excess" tabs, closing [waiting] and re-starting does nothing other than starts FF, closes the tabs, and restarts the browser...Only to have the annoyingly unwanted tabs in question reappear.

I finally jumped the ipod banwagon. I got 60GB color.
and I like sofar what I see.

what are the supported tags of vCard for ipod. since I do them manually and then port them on.

Photo is not uspported on the iPod photo, although it is on the iPod video.
The most recent change for the iPod photo is software v1.2. I think that's the 6/26.

Question about Live Update....

I'm reading about the whole live update process and I have a question regarding using it as a hardware upgrade medium. I need to swap out the primary boot drive in a sparc system with a larger drive. I've created a new boot environment on an external drive and I want to move it in in place of the current boot drive. Sounds like what I would do is create it then activate it, swap the drives and it should work, am I correct in this assumption? Seems I would not want to activate on boot though as when I physically swap these drives the external will assume the scsi ID, controller etc of the former boot drive, correct?

Question about Flash Update

I'm not sure where to ask this but its been nagging at me. I read that Adobe released a Flash Update that fixes 5 critical flaws that Macs are open to. Is this a legitimate update? I am curious because the link www.adobe.com/go/getflash/ changes to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ I am hesitating to install because I am worried it changes to a phishing site and I don't want to end up with a trojan. Has anybody done the update? Apparently Adobe also tries to stealth install AIR. How can I make sure only Flash is installed? Thanks for any help.

Right, and if you'd bothered to read my post you'd realize that the update that fixes the latest vulnerability is not yet available. That is what I was saying - there's no point in looking for it yet because it does not exist.

First, I read what you wrote, but you obviously did not read what Joemac79 wrote. Joemac79 did NOT ask about the 'latest" vulnerability. He said he read about Adobe fixing 5 critical flaws and asked if the link was legitimate, as he was worried about phishing sites and picking up a trojan.
The 5 fixes are legitimate and he should go ahead and update. When the next update is released fixing more vulnerabilities, he should update then too. It is not "too early" nor is there "little point" in updating now. Joemac79 didn't ask about the latest vulnerability, but yes, we should all be aware of how we handle PDF content.
Joemac79, I have upgraded and installed the update with no problems. There is no reason to delay updating the Flashplayer.

Satellite Pro A200 - question about BIOS update

I have a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7E) with Windows Vista and XP that were installed recently.
In Toshiba's driver page (BIOS update) says:
"This Bios is only compatible for Notebooks with Windows Vista!!!!"
1) Should I update my BIOS(1.4) or is it going to be a problem for my XP windows?
2) Has anyone try it?
3) Is there documentation about the BIOS updates (bug fixes, etc)?

I think the description should be clear if the BIOS description says that the BIOS is only compatible for notebooks with Windows Vista then you cannot use it with Windows XP.
I think nobody should check if an Vista BIOS would be run on the XP notebook because mostly a wrong BIOS can damage the motherboards ROM on in your case some notebook features will not run correctly.
I didnt find also any reports about any fixed BIOS bugs it seems something like that was not published on Toshiba European site.

Need help: question about itunes update problem

I started up iTunes yesterday and a window popped up saying there was a new version of iTunes to update, so I did it, and now I can't save equalizer presets! The feature doesn't work at all anymore, and it used to work great. It just goes back to Manual every time, and just won't save anything you put in. This really frustrates me, as it was one of my fave things about iTunes. Can anybody tell me what happened? Can I fix it or go back to my old version without losing my library?

Basic questions about downloading updates and smartnet licensing

I have been trying to get a definitive answer to these questions by browsing around cisco.com, but so far no luck.
1. I manage an ASA5510 for which there is no current smartnet contract. It is running an outdated code version (8.2) of the Security Plus license. Is it allowable to download the 8.4 image and upgrade the ASA as long as I stay within the Security Plus license, or would there be a fee?
2. Same question in general for routers without smartnet: If I have a router running old v12.x code is is permissible to upgrade to 15.x code as long as the featureset remains the same?
3. If I were to purchase a new ASA feature license (e.g. SSL VPN 50 users) and then install it on this ASA, would the license be recoverable if the ASA were to become unusable because of a hardware failure?
Help on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated. All doc I have found so far either seems either contradictory or ambiguous.

Answer 1:
If you do not have a SMARTnet agreement for the device that you support, you will be unable to download updates for that device. You will need to have a CCO login with an active SMARTnet agreement for that device.
Answer 2:
Same answer to question 1 applies to routers. You will be unable to download updates if that device does not have an active SMARTnet agreement.
Answer 3:
If you add a feature, like updating the user license, you will be unable to transfer it to a new unit. This is because the license is bound to the device serial number. The new device will have a different serial number.
Just to mention also, If you add a feature and have an active agreement, you will need to purchase a new agreement to cover that feature. The original agreement only covers the original device. If it goes bad and needs replacing, you will receive a replacement like the original. It will not contain the added license and you will be unable to install the license on the replacement unit because the license is bound to the serial number. The replacement will have a different serial number.

[SOLVED] Question about package updates and ABS

Hello,
I have manually compile my kernel in order to apply a patch my laptop needs to suspend. So I use abs and customize the pkgbuild. A few days ago when the update for kernel26-2.6.33.3-2 came out, I thought I'd just refresh abs, rebuild, and then I'd be up to date. But instead now pacman -Syu tells me that there is still an update for the kernel.
Does building from ABS not get you the latest package update?
Also, what exactly is the package update compared to a software update? I'm guessing that it is an arch only update to the package but the software itself is the same version. Or am I totally off?

When building via ABS, the package installed gets its version from the PKGBUILD ($pkgver-$pkgrel). Pacman just looks at available version vs installed version to tell if you should upgrade.
Your abs tree was probably just not up to date; just because pacman -Syu says your mirror has a package, doesn't mean building via abs _at that moment_ will get that version.
Be sure to run `abs` to update your tree, then when you're editing the PKGBUILD, check which version it's building. In some cases, you can simply increment those numbers right in the PKGBUILD before building as source files are often fetched based on those variables, etc. -- but I don't know if I'd recommend that when building something like the kernel.
