Questions about Mapping GL Accounts to Group Accounts

Hi,
I have some questions about mapping gl accounts to group accounts while configuring OBIEE APPS 7.9.6.3 with EBS R12 as a source:
FIRST QUESTION.-
For file file_group_acct_codes_ora.csv, I have the following accounts from my customer:
101101 - Caja Administrativa
101102 - Fondo Revolvente
101103 - Caja de Cambios
101104 - Efectivo en cajero
This group of accounts is named CASH, now my customer said that this group begins in 101101 and ends in 101199 but in this moment only have this 4 accounts in GL, the rest of the accounts, I mean 101105-101199 are not used right now, they are gonna used in the future.
So, my question is, in file_group_acct_codes_ora.csv how I need to put this group:
In this way:
CHART OF ACCOUNTS ID,FROM ACCT,TO ACCT,GROUP_ACCT_NUM
50308,101101,101104,CASH
Or in this way:
CHART OF ACCOUNTS ID,FROM ACCT,TO ACCT,GROUP_ACCT_NUM
50308,101101,101199,CASH
I mean, is there any problem if I use the second way, or is necessary to do it in the first way, and why?
SECOND QUESTION.-
For file file_group_acct_names.csv, when I update with a new group of accounts, is there any rule or size boundary for GROUP_ACCOUNT_NAME?
THIRD QUESTION.-
For file_group_acct_names.csv, what is the value in column LANGUAGE? I mean, is EBS language?, DB language?, server language?
I hope that someone can help me, because I need to clarify this and don't do the first full load and this load ends with error because of this.

I'll take some broad swipes at this and let the smarter people come fill in the details.
We have a true 1:1 setup in our office and have moved to PHDs as a means of protecting against downtime. The thinking is that we will have a spare machine lying around with our base installation ready to go. If a user's machine fails we'll replace it with the spare machine, let it sync the user directory from the server, and we're back in business. It's no substitute for a real backup system, but it potentially avoids having to run a restore from your backups. It also reduces network traffic compared to plain networked homes, and still lets your users work if the server goes down, but provides the benefits of centralized management. John DeTroye wrote a nice article about this.
If you've already got data on your "client" Mac you will need to move it onto the server. PHDs will download data from the server to the client on the first sync, but will not upload a complete home directory from the client to an empty directory on the server. You'll find some posts in this forum discussing how people have gone about migrating data prior to that first sync.
WGM allows you to establish exclusions for stuff you don't want to sync.
One thing to watch out for in the scenario you describe is the so-called "rabbit effect." Assume Bob uses Mac1 as his primary machine. If one day he logs into Mac2 his home directory will be downloaded to Mac2. Once he returns to Mac1 he'll still be cluttering up Mac2 with his data. If he logs into Mac3 the next day and Tom and Sue are also periodically logging into different machines, you can see how you'll end up with a mess pretty quickly.

Group Chart Of Accounts and Group Account Number

Hi SAP Gurus,
For the sake of consolidated reporting, we are planning to create group chart of accounts and assign a Group account number to the GL account master. The structure is going to be like this:
Operating Expenses (Group Account : 461000).
Air Conditioning Exp   (GL account 461000001)
Elevators                   (GL account 461000002)
Coffee and snacks      (GL account 461000003)
This is being done to achieve a detail level reporting at the company code level and a consolidated reporting at a group level where the reporting would be based on group account or FSIs. We would define a financial statement version based on FSIs.
My question is : do we need to activate the consolidation (EC-CS) module to push the data to the FSIs or the data would flow automatically to the group account if we assign this to the GL master. If we go to fetch the data from the ECMCT table, do we need to have a consolidation unit?
Any inputs are highly appreciated.

Hi,
There are certain preliminary steps to be carried out in ECCS. You can find them under SPRO->Enterprise Controlling->Consolidation->Integration: Preparation for Consolidation.
You need to choose the type of consolidation, create Company, link it to Cons Unit in ECCS, Creating/Copying FS Items (each account in Group COA will have an FS Item; 1:1), etc.,
After the setup, you actually need to carry out Rollup or Flexi Upload for importing FI data into ECCS FS Items. This is done to Data Monitor - CXCD.
In ECMCT, typical selections would be Dimension, Cons Unit, Cons COA, FS Item.
I suppose these preliminary steps are requried for the data to flow to FS Items.

LDAPMAP: questions about mapping

We want to implement an interface between our SAP ECC6 and Microsoft Active-Directory.
I have some questions about the mapping done in LDAPMAP t-code:
1.
What the meaning of the structure and fieldname (e.g. structure-USERNAME; field-BAPINAME)?
They cannot be found anywhere in the DB or in SE36.
2.
How do I create new pairs (e.g. PA0008-TRFGR)?
3.
How do I communicate with these structure-fields, i.e. fill data to them?
Any help will be appreciated.

Question about locking certain folders w/diff.accounts?

I'm about to let my girlfriend use my Mac, so I made a seperate account for her. I just don't want her going through all of my files and " stuff ". Is there anyway to lock certain folders in my account? I tried using parental controls but didn't find the file I wanted to Lock in the options.

When your girlfriend is logged in on her account your folders are locked to her. Your Home folders are only accessible from your account.

Question about ACS 5.1 and user account expiration

Hi All,
Is there a setting on ACS 5.1 where you can configure the user account's expiration? Speaking of users locally configured on the ACS.
If not, can you accomplish this with an external db such as MS AD? How ?
We are looking for a way to manage our guest's hotspot so what we can create temporary users without having to purchase any aditional hardware/software.

As far as being able to do this in AD it is possible you can look at the following documentation which shows how to configure AD attributes, I have helped a customer retrieve the lockouttime attribute in his AD environment, I dont think this attribute is present in the 2003 DC because I was unable to replicate this attribute.
Another step would be to use useraccountcontrol -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305144 - if set a simple condition that if this value is 512 you can permit access, when you lock the account it will add the status of disable to the type of account if it is 512 (Normal_Account) it will equal 514. The most secure is to see what value you have for the guest account by retrieving the attribute after you create the account, create a condition that matches this account.

Question about mapping AD to OID

I'm trying to determine the correct entries for the activechg.map file.
I have 2 issues to resolve:
1. Most of the user accounts are in the AD users folder but I also have user accounts in an AD OU named "Cust Ser Reps". So do I need the following entires in the map file?
CN=Users,DC=norris,DC=intra:cn=Users,dc=norris,dc=intra
OU=Cust Ser Reps,DC=norris,DC=intra:cn=Users,dc=norris,dc=intra
2. I have a second AD domain (swtp.intra) that resides in a different forest from norris.intra. There is a 2-way external trust between them. How do I map this domain to OID? The OID is only setup for dc=norris,dc=intra.

The answer to question one is "yes" that is exaclty how you do it. If you have users in different parts of the tree you can modify your Domain mapping rules by adding the second tree and both will be synced with OID.
To answer your second question, if you have a forest of AD servers then you should only sync with the Global Catalog Server. This will ensure that all changes made to any of the AD servers in the forest are synced with OID. You can read more about this in Chapter 43 of the OID admin guide.
If you have multiple independant AD servers then you need to create a new DIP profile for each one that you want to sync with using ODM to create the new profiles.

Question about mapping logical sources to dimensions

1) On my physical layer I have one fact table (FACTS_DETAILS) linked with CATEGORY dimension table. Other fact tables (aggregated data) don't linked with this CATEGORY dimension with physical joins.
2) On my BMM layer I have mapped my dimension "Category" with my FACT_DETAILS.
3) Other LSTs don't mapped on "Category" dimension, as they do not linked with Categories on physical layer.
4) When I try to display detailed facts by CATEGORY - it's ok.
5) When I add another dimension (For example, COUNTRY) i get error, because COUNTRY dimension isn't compatible with my FACTS_DETAILS.
The question is: how to avoid displaying error message at Answers in such situation? Maybe it is possible just to not display data without error message?

Sounds like you need to architect your physical/logical model a bit better and also you need to set the appropriate levels in the LTS for your facts and dimension logical table sources.

Question about adding keywords to a group of images in Aperture

Hi all,
Not sure what I am doing incorrectly, but I am unable to add a keyword to more than 1 image at a time, even though a group of images is selected. So, for example, in Browser view, with 4 images selected, using the keyword HUD, I drag a keyword to one of the selected images, and only the one dragged to gets that keyword, not the others in the group.
Any ideas?

Not quite sure what the purpose of that button is.
You'll laugh about this sometime not too long from now. Sometime, you will have a bunch of photos selected and *not want to change your selection*, but you'll notice that you need to add some metadata or adjust just 1 of those pictures. That's when you use the "primary only". When you find yourself in that situation, it'll be like a "eureka" since you're currently wondering what it's all about.

Database design question about historical data in a group of tables

Hi Folks,
I have a group of tables having relationships among them. In order to keep the change history, we can not update the data, instead, we add new data to the table(s) and mark older data as whatever non-current status. They all have timestamps in these tables.
For example, If table Parent changes, we add new record Parent(new) and keep older record(s). But the table child has not changed, so how could we link the parent and child table(s)?
One solution is to use a unique sequencial number to identify the snapshot of all these group of tables, so the FK contains this sequencial number to keep all tables in sync from point of time t1 to t2 and so on.
But the problem is if only one table changes, we have to insert new records to ALL tables with the new sequencial number to indicate a new snapshot of all group of tables, this obviously has lots of redundancy when change occurs in one place only.
However, If we only adds new records to a changed table, lets say Parent, how could we distinguish the current record in Parent table and its child tables to reflect a consistent snapshot of all tables? Because the record in parent table Parent(t2), Parent(t1) all associate to child(t1), since at time of t2, child table has not changed, only Parent table changed.

There are books on the subject of dealing with time series data. You may need to read one or two as this is a very complex topic. Though not applications of time series classification are complex it is difficult to tell based on what information can go in a post.
What has to be reflected on the parent when a child row is changed? Do both the old child row and the new child row belong to the same parent?
What activity at the parent level would affect the child rows? That is, is there any activty on the parent that requires new child rows to be populated?
One way of tying the child rows to a specific set of parents would be to carry the parent key, timestamp to the child as a begin_parent_timestamp and then also potentially have a end timestamp if a change to a parent ends the relationship. If changes to the parent do not ever end the relationsip then the end_timestamp would not be necessary. In this case if you want to join a parent to only the most recent version of a child you can perform a select parent kye, child key, max(parent_timestamp) from child group by parent key, child key. One child row would match serveral parents.
Without more specifics it is hard to make suggestions that might prove usable but your table relationships might be too complex to deal with in this kind of forum.
There is a newsgroup on database theory that may be a good place to seek ideas on this type of problem.

ok, my problem is this :
I use /faces/* mapping and i want to be able to put my links like
this :

If do it like this then my apache doesnt find "the FacesContext" (i know it's a common problem).I know that I should change the link to "faces/login.jsp"
and it works if I do it , but when click on the link the address bar changes to
http://localhost/mysite/faces/faces/login.jsp
U see ? It ads one more /faces in the address. If I click many more times the address tends to look like that.

The login.jsp link is in a navigation bar which is in all my pages , if u're wondering how can click on the same link again and again.

I think I could change the links to commandlinks but i would like it to solve the problem using output link .One reason I used output link is cause it felt natural not to do otherwise.I mean I use command links and navigation rules , when there are many more possible outcomes. Here I want that everybody should be allowed to access this link .Btw, the link is not login.jsp cause u're right i should use a navigation rule for authentification , I just used login.jsp for example.The actual link is "viewsellads.jsp".
As for the "/faces/login.jsp" or "faces/login.jsp" , when u put no slash he goes to http://localhost/faces/login.jsp
But my web application is in a directory called "example" so I want tomcat to put the entire path .For short when I put no slash it goes where it should

The reason this is so frustrating is probably cause I think I had the same problem some time ago too , when I was writing a site just with jsp and servlet. I didnt know there how to solve some relative path issue either, but

Question about mapping art to a 3d object

I'm looking for help with mapping art to a 3d object using the extrude and bevel effect, and I keep running into the same issues.
I've attached an image of what I'm trying to replicate (on the left) and where I am currently at (on the right). The left image is what we're looking to duplicate, in a 3d manner, but I'm not able to add the roll tail (which now needs to have a bit of a curve coming towards you), without there being numerous surfaces in the 'map art' box. What I am hoping is that there is a way to create one surface that wraps completely around the roll, and then down to the tail, and curling towards the viewer. Currently when I do this it creates numerous surfaces so I have to map the art to piece it together and it doesn't line up with the other mapped art. I would so appreciate any help you can offer!
Also, I'm not able to get a great shadow inside the roll, is there something I'm missing with the lighting options?

Question about Mapping& Typecasting

Hi, I am trying to typecast this map into characters at the end. I started by inputting the file as a byte array and have the treemap map it out and count the characters. But since I used bytes it comes back out to me as integers but what I want to display is characters. I'm not sure where I should typecast it since I just write System.out.printlnt (m) in order to print out the list. Any ideas?

First of all, your Map object must have the following type parameter:
Map<Character, Integer> m = new TreeMap<Character, Integer>();Then, your foreach loop is more resonable if you extract from the byteArray byte values, rather than int values - As the array is an an array of byte elements...
Finally, you may remember that char is, in deep, a numeric value, interpreted by java to a character. So, you can cast a byte value into a char:

Question about mapping.

How would I "map events to the indices of an array?" For example, I have an array that looks like:
{2, 2, 2, 6, 4, 10, 1, 1}
Instead of explicitly storing each event, I'd like to have the index of the array represent the event and have the element hold the number of times the event occurred. For example, the above would be:
Result of event: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Number of times event occurred: 2 3 0 1 0 1 0 0 0 1

If the events you're tracking are densely packed integers--that is, most or all of the integers in a given range--then you create an array. Let's say you're tracking events identified as 1-10. You'd create an array of 10 ints. arr[0] is how many times you've seen event 1, arr[1] is the count for event 2, etc.
Numerical array elements are initialized to zero upon creation, so every time you get an event, you increment the corresponding array element: int eventId = getEventIdSomehow();
arr[eventId]++; On the other hand, if your events are the numbers 1 1,000 2,500,000, 10,000,000, and 2,000,000,000 then you don't want an array of 2,000,000,000 elements just to track five of them. In that case, or if the events can't be identified as densely packed intgers, then use a java.util.Map. The key will identify which event, and the value will be the number of occurences.
