The platform of the phone is Nokia Asha software platform 1.0.
The phone supports mobile Java (J2ME) apps and Nokia Web Apps.
Apps can be installed from any source though Nokia Store is of course the main delivery channel.
I would expect the key Nokia apps to appear on the phone sooner or later. Few apps like Nokia Nearby are supported since day one.
There will be SW updates for the phone, but few things have changed on this front compared to some older phones: now all SW updates are delivered Over-The-Air.
Video streaming from Youtube is supported.
There is no support for VPN current currently.

Before you close the application after using it.. Got to Settings-->Privacy-->and sel;ect Clear history and Clear Cookies..
See if this makes any difference..
..and as far as un-installing the application is concerned.. If the application came pre-installed with the phone then that may not be possible..

Questions about Nokia BH-905i

I have two questions:
1) When playing music, sound often drops out, especially when I move around the city. Is it because of the bluetooth interference? If so, is there any way to bring these dropouts to some minimum?
2) Sometimes, when I push play after pause, the volume goes up gradually. It is a very nice feature, but it seems to be sporadic. I mean, there are many times when the volume just roars back at full strength after unpausing. What this feature depends on? Is there a way to make this behaviour more consistent?
Excellent product, by the way. But the bluetooth sound dropouts really spoil the fun.

1 - There should not be any interference from other bluetooth devices if your N8 is paired to the headset. Are there any specific times that the headset decides to drop out? Also, it may be worth that the handset is not in a bag but rather in your trousers or jacket pocket to allow maximum connection strength.
2 - The volume sporadically changing could have something to do with the desired effects which the headset can perform depending on your device. Here are a list of different presets which you may accidentally activated during pressing different buttons on the headset.
To select the desired effect while listening:
• To activate the bass booster effect, press the multifunction key. The
headset beeps once.
• To activate the stereo widening effect, after one second, press the
multifunction key a second time. The headset beeps twice.
• To activate the bass booster and stereo widening effect, press the
multifunction key a third time. The headset beeps three times.
• To deactivate the effects, press the multifunction key a fourth time.
The headset plays a long beep.
Let us know how you get on, and if you are still experiencing problem with the headset, we suggest you to visit your closest Nokia Care point, where our technicians can help you more with hardware issues. Few questions about nokia lumia 720...

I recently bought a Nokia Lumia 720 and have a few questions I would like answering...
Why do we need to link our phone to a microsoft account? What if you dont want to link your email and your phone contacts? My phone is now full of useless numbers of people I havent spoken to\want to speak to.
Where do I report bugs that I find with the phone? I have found a few.
Why cant I sign into Skype without linking to a microsoft account too? [same issue as before]
It would also be good if we could assign custom ring tones... I thought this would have been a standard feature.

As I said, you can either set up a separate MS account just for the phone or you can filter you contacts under People > Settings > Filter contact lists so that you see only the ones you want to see. Linking to a cloud account is extremely useful for keeping a backup and for restoring the phone if you lose, change or simpley have to hard reset it. A friend lost his Lumia while travelling abroad, bought a new one on the spot, found a free wifi network and had all his contacts, messages and apps installed and running within half an hour.
I don't understand your last point - if you mean restart the phone when it is frozen for any reason, that can be done by holding both the Power and Volume Down button pressed for maybe 10-15 seconds until the phone vibrates and restarts. That is usually called a soft reset and you do not lose any settings or data except the date and time settings which you need to set again manually. Otherwise you can simply turn the phone Off and On by holding the Power button pressed.

Question about Nokia N97

I just ordered Nokia N97 ($699). Is it with a plan or not? Can I use this phone in China (WCDMA) because I do not want it to be locked as Iphone to AT&T.

u have a N97 and it is locked like an iPhone to AT&T. please explain again carefully what you mean. if you purchased the phone for that price, then it is most likely purchased outright (judging by the price you bought it for). if you are not sure, then ask the peopple you bought it from.
yes, most operators allow roaming when you travel to another country. all you have to do usually is ask in-store or call their customer support who will activate roaming for you (remember to ask about call charges as these can be high and hit you with a nasty big phone bill when you arrive back home).

Maemo 6 (aka Harmattan) is the next maemo OS (think XP to Vista) There isn't any firm guarantee it will run on the N900, but it is due out 2011 by which time the N900 will be quite old in phone terms.
DRM is something Nokia seems to love. They back Microsofts DRM heavy media formats (wma, wmv), they use DRM to manage their games, they use DRM to manage the ring tones on the devices!! Even Nokia music store sells music with DRM (how 2007 of them!! Seriously, DRM on music downloads?? *YAWN* get with the times, Nokia, please!! I can't sync my phone with Nokia music as it copies every track every time I connect my phone and your technical support haven't given me any assistence, so WHY would I pain myself further by using your DRM heavy online music store!?!)
DRM requires kernel (and potentially hardware) level intervention. Maemo traditionally uses a fairly stock Linux kernel and as such DRM doesn't really feature that much..if you have "root" access on the device you could potentially fairly easily circumvent it.. (why? to gain access to stuff you already own?)
To overcome the issues, DRM needs to be fixed into the kernel OR factor in other DRM hardware. It may come on the N900 already, dunno, haven't seen it yet.. but if not I don't think we're going to see it before Maemo6
In terms for future proofing..
The N810, announced end of 2007, ran OS2008 (maemo 4) which is already end of life.. under 2 years later..
To answer your question, Maemo 6 will be for future devices and *may* be available for the N900..
Don't get me wrong, though.. I don't see this as a problem.. I've owned a 770, N800 and N810 and I will own an N900 when its out.. each time the hardware got a lot better.. more RAM, camera, keyboard, CPU..

Questions about Nokia Music Player - "Most Played"...

MY PHONE: NOKIA 5530 EM
View count on music, well i always like this function on music players in general.
But i don't really get nokia's one. Because i made some tests over the past months and i'm almost sure it isn't based on view count. Not only view count, at least.
1) What is the "most played" playlist really based on?
2)Can i somehow, view/edit the view count, or what other setting that determines the "most played" playlist order?
3)Can i somehow edit this "most played" playlist?
4) If i use PC Suite tranfer phone option, will it carry those auto playlists, view counts along with the rest of the transferred things?
I wanna know all that because i want to buy a n97, but want to keep my music counts.
If someone can answer this it would be great.

Personally at this stage when C7, E7 and N8 have all been announced and N97 has a **bleep** load of issues, I would dissuade you from the N97 and tell you to buy one of the 3 I mentioned.
Anyway, The music player on the N97 is exactly the same one on your 5530 (if you have v30 firmware). As far as I know, most played is based on how many times a music has played from top to finish. Furthermore on Ovi Suite, it is quite easy to just make your own playlist as opposed to relying on autoplaylists

Question about Nokia Camera

If I reinstall the Nokia Camera app, will I still be able to reframe my pictures?

I also own a 6151, but with a different product code respect your, but I can't upgrade too :-(
My cell is a generic no brand Italy one.
I don't know exactly why Nokia would update only a few product codes of this beautiful phone via NSU.
Please let us update our phones!!!
If you go to a service center there could be an update also for your branded phone.

The alarm app uses the standard Nokia alarm tune as its default tone. You're right, when you create a new alarm, you'll need to set your preferred alert tone manually. Currently, there's no setting to change this. However, we'll take your feedback as a feature suggestion for future SW updates.

I have a Question about Nokia Smart mode on Lumia ...

how come when I take a picture in smart mode it never use the flash, all the pictures come out dark, I like that it allow you to pick the best shot, but if theres no flash none of the shots would look decent enough, unless I was in a bright room

smart mode takes 10 images (this number may change depending on the phone model) in ~2 seconds which means single flash burst will not be enough for all 10 images and you need a better light source.

1- How Can I Send MMS to email ?
in this Phone ( 6288 ) it just accept numbers for sending.
and i couldn't type an email address . ( on other phones you could easly type email address except phone number )
and i must use mms service to sending email . is any way or some setup i must do to send mms to some one email's?
2- when i browse the web by this phone ( 6288 ) i only see
webpages without images . is this phone work only on wap sites or i must setup something else? ( the service that operator give us is not just wap and other phones have not any problem to see web as normal with images and... )

about NOKIA N80
it is writen in the technical support for this product that:
- it has a memory card miniSD 128MB expandable memory.
is there any way to make this memory 512MB OR even 1GB to store more pictures , music , files ... etc ?
- in NOKIA 6270 there is a 3D effect for voice of the phone to listen to music in a loud voice . do this feature exist in NOKIA N80 ?

there is no date because no date has been announced. no manufacturer ever gives a release date for anything, just a release period. go ask at your nearest phones4u or something - they will give you any date you want lol!
