Questions about ringtones, skipping volume bar, more...

1) Both on my iPod touch and iPhone 3G the volume bar skips around the screen. I have had multiple products of the same SKU and they all have the same problem. If you have a response, include the number in your post.
2) My iTunes credit was reduced from 6.48 to 1.00
3) I bought a music video that never downloaded
4) Can I recover ringtones and music videos off my old computer that was stolen?
5) Keyboard lag. What's up with that?
6) Why does my mother's iFwn 1st gen have better picture quality than my iFwn 3G?

1) Not sure what you mean. Are you turning the iphone on it's side? This will change to landscape view. You can see where the volume bar should be in the manual.

3) Contact itunes support, they are very helpful. The link is on your receipt.
4) If the missing purchases are on you iphone you can attach iphone to an authorized itunes and hut File>Transfer purchases.
5) Many have reported this. Do you have 2.1 software update?

8) Without using foul language, explain what is happening. Many people have had their iphones replaced for similar reasons.

Quick Question About Ringtones and iPhone

I've looked through the discussions and could not find my answer. If you know of a discussion already posted please refer me to that.
Question: After buying a song from iTunes is there a statute of limitations governing the song's ability to create a ringtone?
None of the songs that I bought before my iPhone can be made into ringtones and songs that I bought a few days ago, which initially I could make into a ringtone, but did not, now can no longer be made into a ringtone.
Also, is there any program besides iTunes that can be used to create ringtones from any song?

No there is not a time limit that I know of. The bell has disappeared on mine too. Have you clicked Store>create ringtone?

A legit question about ringtones

Ok I do wish there were still were 3rd party apps but there not so here we go, I like ringtones and assign one to most of my contacts so I immediately know who is calling, I have submitted to apple and began buying ringtones from them (one as of right now). Most of the songs I want to make ringtones don't have bells by them which of course makes me upset but through posts I've read its a bunch of copyright issues and mumbo jumbo that I understood that kept certain songs from being available from Apple. Now I actually been looking around to other cell carriers to see what they were selling like verizion and guess what they are selling a lot of ringtones that itunes doesn't have huh? Then I went and looked on AT&T's media mall and guess what they to are selling them to, so my questions are 1. why isn't apple selling such ringtones? 2. Are carriers such as AT&T selling them illegally? 3. If I bought one from our service provider (ATT&T) would it be considered 3rd party even though their part of the party? 4. Does anyone that sells ringtones have to get their own approval to sell even if someone else is arleady selling them? I'm not complaining or ranting just want some insight on something I don't understand.

Question about ringtones

Hi everyone.
I've been a loyal BB user since 2008 and I have recently started using a Q10. I have a song that I use as a ringtone, but I want it to be strictly a ringtone and I want to take it out of the music folder and put it in as a ringtone.
Is there any way I can do that? Also, is there any way I can access the ringtones folders like with the Torch 9810?

AI, I moved it to a different folder and it still pops up in the music library.
In the Torch 9810, I could access the ringtones folder and specifically place on a song in there and it would be separate from the music library like any other ringtone. I can't do that with the Q10; it doesn't allow me to access EVERY folder; there are more folders available when I go to change the ringtone to one pre-loaded on the phone, but they can't be accessed via computer.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Stellar 4 GB first time user. I have a question about ringtones.

My basic smart phone before the Samsung was a LG touch cell. What I liked best about that phone was the ringtone. It would call out (voice) the name of the person calling or sending a text. I can't find this feature on the Samsung. Does anyone know if this cell has the capabilites of a verbal announcement ringtone for names on my contact list? Since it doesn't appear to be on the selection list for ringtones, is there an app I can download to add it to my Samsung for incoming texts or phone calls? I'm starting to like this new cell but I miss the verbal ringtone announcement.

To my knowledge, there's nothing built in on the phone itself, though I could be wrong. On my DROID RAZR M there is a way you can have the phone announce calls and text messages, so it's possible to do. I would look in the Google Play store to see if there's a free app that can do this for you, or see if you can find in the phone "app" some settings for announcing callers

Question about ringtones application

OK... so obviously the ringtones application is out there... why can't I get it... I have the latest iTunes and I have restarted my computer, plugged in my phone, etc. What else is there for me to do to get the application??? Can someone please help me?

What "ringtones application" are you referring to? There's no separate application from Apple; it's all handled within iTunes. You might find these pages helpful:

Question about using Pen Tool on more then one frame...

I have a scene where the actor is running towards the camera; I want to key an explosion behind him. I duplicated the shot and put a keyed explosion in between the layers. I used the pen tool and marked around the actor. I hit "add" on the drop down and the explosion showed up. Looks fine...
Now how do I animate the actor over a long period of time? I can't figure out how to add a different pen tool mark for each unique frame.

Hmmm. I masked my actor. Hit the stopwatch on Mask Path, then went to the next frame. I added another keyframe and changed the mask to fit the new position but noticed it still changed the mask for the previous frames. I can't seem to figure out how to edit frames individually...

Not much information in your post about when the volume bar is "messing" but taking a guess:
Settings > Sounds > Change with buttons > ON

Question about the ability of Genius Bar to help with outside software...

Hi I wasn't sure where to put this, but here's my question. I'm having a problem with the Sims 2 on my Macbook and I was wondering if I go to the Genius Bar will they be able to help me or are they strictly hands off when it's not a direct Apple product?
Also, I bought an external hard drive in the Apple Store but it's not an Apple branded product. If I'm having a problem with that, can I go to the Apple Store?

If it's a question about the installation, system requirements or compatibility with your MacBook, the Mac Genius can probably help. If you're having some kind of issue while using the Sims 2, you'll probably have to contact .
The same is true with the hard drive. If you need some help getting it connected or even formatted, they can probably help. However, if it's not powering up or you're losing files or some kind of operational issue with the hard drive after it's connected, they'll probably refer you to the manufacturer.
Usually Apple can't support other vendors' products. Someone here may be able to give you some more advice, since none of us work for Apple. There may be someone here who's already had the same issue with the Sims.

I've learned by reading other topics that I can't upgrade my graphics card on my Macbook Pro because it's soldered into the motherboard or somthing like that, but please tell me if there is any way to get more video ram by chaning some setting or upgrading something else. The only two items that a user can change on a MBP are the RAM and HDD (Retinas not included). You have what the unit came with and the only way you will be able to change that is to purchase a MBP with superior graphics
If you are very much into gaming, the I suggest A PC. They are far superior for that type of application to a MBP.

Question about composite index and index skip scan

I have a confusion.
I have read Burleson's post on composite index column ordering (http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_composite_index_multi_column_ordering.htm) where he writes that
"......for composite indexes the most restrictive column value(the column with the highest unique values) should be put first to trim down the result set..."
But 10g performance tuning book tells this about INDEX SKIP SCAN ::
"... Index Skip scanning lets a composite index be split logically into smaller subindexes. In skip
scanning, the initial column of the composite index is not specified in the query. In other words, it is skipped.
The number of logical subindexes is determined by the number of distinct values in the initial column.
Skip scanning is advantageous if there are few distinct values in the leading column of the composite index and many distinct values in the non-leading key of the index......."
So if we design Composite indexes acc. to what Burleson said then how can we take advantage of index skip scanning. These two staements oppose each other,don't they ?
Can anybody explain this ?

Round trip workflow with proxies between Premiere and AE / a more general question about how these programs work?

Hi all,
I'm new to editing with proxies in Premiere and have some questions about how to handle the relationship with After Effects. Say I have a rough cut (with proxies) and I want to send it to AE to do some effects. The simplest thing to do seems to be to replace the proxies with the originals in Premiere, send the project to AE and do my thing. But if I then want to send the project back to Premiere, it will involve the original files, which are too machine-intensive for me to edit. In theory, it seems like there should be a way to send the project with original footage to AE, do effects, send it back to Premiere, and then replace it with proxies to do further editing while retaining the effects.
This leads to a confusion about how AE works. When I do an effect, am I correct in assuming that it does nothing to the original file? If that's the case, it seems like it shouldn't matter (in the editing stage) what file AE "applies" an effect to (proxy or original). But I feel like there's a hitch in this workflow. The same question could also be asked about going back and forth in Speed Grade.
Perhaps there is no real answer to this and the best option is to save effects and grading for after I have picture lock, but sometimes that's not entirely possible or convenient, etc.
Hopefully this makes some sense—It's a little hard to explain.

Short question about the nano controls

Hi. I'm probably going to buy a 4Gb nano today, but first I'd like to ask a short question about the << >> buttons on the click wheel.
I read in a forum that the << & >> buttons are actually 'skip' buttons (only used to play the previous or next song respectively), and that it's impossible to rewind or fast-forward within the track you're listening to. This is extremely important for me as I have several 2-3 hours mp3, and I need to be able to access different parts of the file quickly (eg. not having to actually wait 1 hour to listen to my favorite part). I found this to be an important feature, and I can't believe Apple hasn't thought about it.
Anyway, I've never used an iPod, that's why this question may sound plain stupid.

The iPod fast charges to about 80% and then trickle charges the rest of the way to prevent damaging the battery/iPod. A full charge takes more than an hour or two though the battery indicator will show full. The best way to tell if a full charge has occurred is to unmount the iPod from the computer but keep it connected. The screen will show an animation of a battery. When the animation stops the battery is fully charged.
Also, as your battery discharges the indicator will eventually show red indicating the battery is about to run out...in an hour or two. After you've owned your iPod for a couple months you'll figure out how much time you have left when the indicator turns red - it depends on a number of factors including play volume, equalizer use, etc. In real world use I'm getting over 11 hours.
The headphones are...average. If they didn't hurt my ears I'd find them acceptable for my pop music but not so acceptable for acoustic and symphonic nor music with booming bass - because they don't boom the bass.
I encode the majority of my music at 256 AAC and I've noticed no distortion caused by the EQ. This, plus your complaint about the earphones, leads me to think perhaps you got a bum set of phones. Borrow a pair from someone else and see what happens.

Some questions about the integration between BIEE and EBS

I'm a new bie of BIEE. In these days, have a look about BIEE architecture and the BIEE components. In the next project, there are some work about BIEE development based on EBS application. I have some questions about the integration :
1) generally, is the BIEE database and application server decentralized with EBS database and application? Both BIEE 10g and 11g version can be integrated with EBS R12?
2) In BIEE administrator tool, the first step is to create physical tables. if the source appliation is EBS, is it still needed to create the physical tables?
3) if the physical tables creation is needed, how to complete the data transfer from the EBS source tables to BIEE physical tables? which ETL tool is prefer for most developers? warehouse builder or Oracle Data Integration?
4) During data transfer phase, if there are many many large volume data needs to transfer, how to keep the completeness? for example, it needs to transfer 1 million rows from source database to BIEE physical tables, when 50%is completed, the users try to open the BIEE report, can they see the new 50% data on the reports? is there some transaction control in ETL phase?
could anyone give some guide for me? I'm very appreciated if you can also give any other information.

Both 10g & 11g comes with different versions of BI apps which supports sources like Siebel CRM, EBS, Peoplesoft, JD Edwards etc..

This is OBIEE modeling to create RPD with all the layers. If you build it from scratch then you will require to create all the layers else if BI Apps is used then you will get pre-built RPD along with other pre-built components.
