Questions about syncing multiple MobileMe accounts on one iPad

You can set up multiple MobileMe accounts; however, only one MobileMe account at a time can be used for Find My iPad and for syncing contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes. (iPad User Guide p. 32)
Okay.
If you've done this already (created multiple MobileMe accounts on your iPad), can you please tell me how syncing two accounts to one device works in practice?
What prevents the merging of contacts and calendars between two MobileMe accounts and one instance of the Calendar and Contacts apps?
As a matter of functionality, and assuming there is a way to avoid merging this information, how does one access separate calendars and contacts from separate MobileMe accounts in the Calendar and Contact apps?
Thanks!

  • Is it possible to sync multiple mobileme accounts onto the iphone, syncing ical calendars for these multiple mobile me accounts ?

I am trying to sync two mobileme accounts into my iphone and each account have different calendars ( all being with ical NOT CALDAV).
Now, my question is can I sync these different calendars, belonging to different mobileme accounts, into the iphone? please assist me on this matter.
Basically i want to have a work calendar  to share with my colleagues and a personal calendar to share just with my friends and family.

You are correct.  This used to work in the past although admittedly I haven't tried it for some time as it was of no direct use for my purposes.
If the goal is to see another MobileMe account's calendar(s) on your iOS device then an alternative would be to share the calendar(s) in question to yourself.
    Example:
Assume you currently have MobileMe user account A on your iPhone.
Login to MM user account B with me.com which has the calendar you wish to have access to on your iPhone
    Click on Calendars
Click on the Share button for the calendar you wish to see added to your iPhone.
Type in the MobileMe email address for MM user account A and set it for read & write access
Login to MM user account A on me.com
Go to calendars and accept the invitation to join the calendar you sent from MM account B
Go your iPhone (you may need to turn it on and off to make the calendars refresh ) and check your calendars, you should now have the other calendars added to your MobileMe account A's calendar
Note: You can repeat step # 3 for each of the calendars you wish to see on your iPhone.

  • Multiple iTunes accounts on one iPad

I just today purchased an iPad2, and while we were in the Apple store, the gentleman helping us set up the iTunes account on the device, using my daughter's iTunes account information.  Is there a way to have 2 iTunes account on a single iPad, as I have no need for the anemic vocal stylings of Taylor Swift?  If not, is there a way to put my music into her library and then just have Mommy's stuff on its own playlist?

You can sign in and out of two different iTunes accounts on the iPad but  - if the iPad is for your use - since you both have your own computers - I would recommend creating your own Apple ID and iTunes account. This way you can sync to your own computer and she can sync to hers.
Go to Settings>Store on the iPad. You should see your daughter's email address which is her Apple ID. Tap on the email address and a window will pop up that will allow you to sign out of her account. Then you can create your Apple ID and iTunes account.
This article will explain how to create your own account with a credit card.

The only thing about this is if you bought something already with her account - and I'm speaking only about purchases now - you will lose those items when you sync to iTunes. Any free apps can be downloaded again so no need to worry about those.

  • Question about syncing multiple ipods to one iTunes library

I have an iPod touch (2nd gen Ver 3.1.3) that I sync to my computer. My daughter recently got an iPod touch (2nd gen Ver 4.0) that was under her father's account. I reset her iPod in order to put it under my iTunes store account. Next I synced her iPod with my computer adding only the items she wanted (games mostly and a few songs).
iTunes didn't seem to have a problem with our devices being different versions. So far so good. I have only synced her device once and haven't synced mine since. We have both purchased apps straight to our iPods and they aren't backed up.
    My questions are:
    1. Before syncing, will I have to go check everything I want every time in iTunes?
    2. We use some of the same apps and games. Will the game data and/or app data be written by another players data? Can you tell I'm really just concerned about my TapFish score?
I'm holding off on syncing until I know the answers.

well, it would be better to keep everything checked in your library and instead create separate playlists for each mobile device.

you can use as many mobile devices as you want with a single iTunes library. iTunes treats each device separately.
i have two Nano's, an iPod Touch, and an iPad syncing with the same library.

  • Syncing 2 itunes accounts to one ipad?

I have an ipad2 for work (plus a work itunes account). Can I sync music from my itunes account (personal) that my wife and I share at home?

I think things may be getting confused with terminology a bit. You can only sync an iPad with a single iTunes library on a single computer. That iTunes library, though, can have content from up to five iTunes Store accounts. So if you're purchasing content from a home account in the iTunes Store as well as from a work iTunes Store account, or you're using a single account but purchasing from both the home and work computers, then you can have it all on your iPad. You just need to get the content into iTunes on onto a single computer, whichever one you have decided to use to sync your iPad. If you need help moving content from one computer to the other, post back and we can help further with that.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards.

  • I have a question about using multiple ipads in our school.  Each of our teachers have a iPad and AppleTV in their classroom.  The issue is, with our classrooms so close in proximity to one another, is there a way to pair teacher

I have a question about using multiple ipads in our school.  Each of our teachers have a iPad and AppleTV in their classroom.  The issue is, with our classrooms so close in proximity to one another, is there a way to pair teacher #1 iPad to its AppleTV without effecting/projecting onto the adjacent teachers #2 classroom AppleTV?

    Not as such.
Give the AppleTV units unique names and also enable Airplay password in settings with unique passwords for each teacher.

  • How to make multiple MobileMe accounts work in iCloud?

I have 2 MobileMe accounts.  One is an old @mac.com that I use strictly for e-mail.  The other is my current @me.com (with an alias @me.com address) that I use for everything including iTunes store account.  I've already moved my @me.com account to the cloud.  Here are my questions:
Do I move the @mac.com to the cloud on my iMac?  Will it override any calendars, contacts, etc.?  I want to add it to my iOS devices as well (iPhone and iPad at least).  I see under accounts on my iPhone I can add an iCloud account, but can I add it without compromising all the data from my @me account?
Do I have to do anything to the alias account to move it?  Will it go away if I do nothing once MobileMe goes away?
    Thanks for any help.

    Of course.
And instructions can depend on which OS X is installed.
For v10.7 Lion > OS X Lion: Create a new user account

  • Few questions about syncing

    Hi,
I have a few questions about syncing. Since this is my first iphone and apple product, I'm not familliar with it. My mother bought the tomtom app for navigation. And she said that it has 3 uses (for 3 different devices). Now the app is in her library on her computer. So if i try to sync with her library, it will erase all my previous apps. How come? Also I'm planning to use a laptop in college so I'll have to sync it with that.
What should I do to keep my apps?

All 3rd party apps - paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the app. This is required by 3rd party app developers to prevent people from stealing from them with paid apps. If not for this, you could pay for and download the TomTom app which is not cheap and all your friends and family members with an iPhone could install the app on their iPhone without paying for it, which in effect is stealing.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library on the same computer, but in regards to all iTunes content - music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.

  • Managing Multiple Galleries (i.e. multiple MobileMe accounts)

I have a family MobileMe account and wish to manage some of the family members' galleries from iPhoto. I know that I can have multiple iPhoto libraries if necessary, but have not been able to figure out how to manage multiple MobileMe accounts (and their galleries) via iPhoto. Any tips?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The best approach to managing multiple MMe accounts on one Mac is to have multiple User account on that Mac, one for each MMe account. That also would require multiple libraries unless you will have all of the photos in one. If that's the case you can move the library to the Shared folder and access it there from each account.
In each account log into the appropriate MMe account via the System/MobileMe preference pane. Then enable fast user switching via the System/Accounts pane to make it easy to switch user account.

  • HT4436 can I have multiple icloud accounts on one device

can I have multiple icoud accounts on one device (ipad)?

Are you sure only primary account can use Find my iPhone?
I added a secondary account to my daughters iphone and was able to use it for Find my iPhone.
It warns you that the Find my iphone service will be disabled on the other icloud account.
I think this is a good change so I can use a single account to track all the devices.
Looks like only photostream and documents/data are tied to the primary account.

  • Multiple gamecenter accounts on one apple id

Before IOS 7 I was able to have multiple gamecenter accounts under one appleID.  One for my phone and anohter for my son on his ipad.  I have not figured out how to get his gamecenter account up and running again without settign up a new apple id, which correspondingly means I have to reinstall/buy all the apps again.
    Help.....

After 2 hours worth of searching with no answer, I decided to run a test and it worked. This is what I did to have multiple Game Center IDs on iOS7. (People responding may have over looked this detail because they assumed it was obvious, but it wasn't)
Answer: you MUST have multiple Apple ID accounts, however, you use the main one to log in to SETTINGS > ITUNES & APP STORE.
    1. I deleted the Alternate Email Address associated with my account
    2. I created an entire new Apple ID with this email address
    3. I login in to SETTINGS > ITUNES & APP STORE with my original Apple ID (credit card on file)
    4. I login to Game Center, iCloud, etc... with my kid's NEW Apple ID
So purchasing still goes under our shared account and game center, iCloud, etc... go under my kid's Apple ID.

In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account.  The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.

  • Sync multiple icloud accounts to mac

Can I sync multiple icloud accounts to a mac

You can add additional iCloud accouts to your Mac as secondary accounts by going to System Preferences>Internet Accounts (Mail,Contacts,Calendars)>iCloud and entering your credentials.  Secondary accounts will only sync mail, contacts, calendars, reminders and notes.
Additionally, you can sign into different iCoud accounts in different user accounts.
