Questions bout updates

Hi, I have a question, I am getting annoyed over my Laptops constant updating. Every second day its telling me to that there are updates and to log in to get them updated, and each update takes at least an hour in a half to two hours, because I Have to click up date at least six times before its fully updated. this is annoying and I really dont see why it needs to update that often. I have never seen a PC update that much or for that long ever. This has just started happening the past two weeks, before that it would update once a week and take up to two hours with six restarts and that was way too much and too long I thought. HELP whats going on with this, and how can I stop it. its ridiculous.  Also....I do not like the they have removed the contact techinical online support chat option in the HP help.

Hi,
Sounds like those updates failed elsewhere that why they come back again and again. Now please try:
(a) Hold down Win key then press Q,
(b) Type Windows Update in Search box then open Check for updates,
(c) Please update one at a time to see which one failed
It's a pain but Windows 8 and 8.1 do not give much information about Update history like Windows 7 or Windows 10. You can change do not use auto update and manually check say once a week or Choose other update options.
Regards.

  • Question about Update Tables

    Hello Gurus,
    I have a question about "update table" entries. I read somewhere that an entry in update table  is done at the time of the OLTP transaction. Is this correct? If so, does this happen on a V1 update or V2 update? Please clarify. Similarly, an entry in the "extraction queue" (incase you are using "queued delta" will happen on V1 update. I just want to get a clarification on both these methods. Any help in this matter is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sreekanth

    Hi
    update tables are temporary table that are refreshed by v3 job.update table is like buffer, it gets filled after updation of application table and statistical table through v1 v2 update .  we can bypass this process by delta methods.

    If your phone is factory unlocked, or officially unlocked by your carrier, updating will NOT re-lock the phone.  If it was unlocke by unauthorized methods, any update or restore will re-lock it.

  • Coupla questions after updating to Snow Leopard

    Hi folks.  I just upgraded from Tiger 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard 10.6.8, and boy, do I have some questions!
    1. Are there any rules of thumb on reducing the probability that this OS X 10.6.8 will lock up?  For example, it seems that if I'm getting the computer out of "sleep" mode or even just using the keyboard or clicking the mouse after a few minutes of inactivity, it locks up if I hit more than one keystroke or click the mouse more than one time before the internal hard drive finishes whizzing.  I'm thinking that I need to get into the habit of pressing one keystroke, listening to hear whether the hard drive starts up, and if so, waiting until it settles down before making any more keystrokes or using the mouse.  Any other tips?
    2. What is the keyboard alternative to using the pulldown menu for force quit?  Unlike my experience with Tiger, if the rainbow is spinning, this new OS won't allow me to use the cursor to pull down the apple menu to get to the force quit utility.
    3. When my computer's locked up with the spinning rainbow, and the force-quit utility isn't working is there any way to get it to unlock, other than disconnecting it from the power source?
    4. How bad is it to disconnect the computer from electrical power when it's locked up but still running?
    5. When I was loading the OS, I thought there was a tutorial for Snow Leopard, but I can't figure out how to get back to it.  Can you tell me how I get it to run?
    6. I own an external HD for backup.  Please tell me that Snow Leopard includes a backup utility program, and how to use it.
    7. Final question for now--does Lion perform any better than Snow Leopard?  Not sure whether updating to Lion would make things better, worse, or no change (other than my wallet).
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    John

    Command + option + escape brings up the force quit window.  Note that odds are that if you have a spinning cursor you won't be able to use the keyboard either.
    3. When my computer's locked up with the spinning rainbow, and the force-quit utility isn't working is there any way to get it to unlock, other than disconnecting it from the power source?
    4. How bad is it to disconnect the computer from electrical power when it's locked up but still running?
    Pushing on the power button for a bout 5 seconds is basically the moral equivalent of "pulling the plug".  If it's the only way "out" then it's the only way out!  What's the choice?
    6. I own an external HD for backup.  Please tell me that Snow Leopard includes a backup utility program, and how to use it.
    As above, I recommend Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper.
    7. Final question for now--does Lion perform any better than Snow Leopard?  Not sure whether updating to Lion would make things better, worse, or no change (other than my wallet)
    Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  Same for usefulness and "better".  In my opinion it is a schizophrenic OS that wants to be the old OSX cross bread with a IPad.  Basically dumbed down.  It also doesn't run ppc code since there is no Rosetta.  IMO stay clear of it.  Play with it in the Apple Store to get a taste.
    Please, whoever is reading this, lit's not start a religious war here. This is my opinion of Lion (and many others).  But if you like Lion fine with me.

  • Performance issue and functional question regarding updates on tables

    A person at my site wrote some code to update a custom field on the MARC table that was being copied from the MARA table.  Here is what I would have expected to see as the code.  Assume that both sets of code have a parameter called p_werks which is the plant in question.
    data : commit_count type i.
    select matnr zfield from mara into (wa_marc-matnr, wa_marc-zfield).
      update marc set zfield = wa_marc-zfield
         where werks = p_werks and matnr = wa_matnr.
      commit work and wait.
    endselect.
    I would have committed every 200 rows instead of every one row, but here's the actual code and my question isn't around the commits but something else.  In this case an internal table was built with two elements - MATNR and WERKS - could have done that above too, but that's not my question.

    Here's the question - why did this person enqueue and dequeue explicit locks like this ?  They claimed it was to prevent issues - what issues ???  Is there something special about updating tables that we don't know about ?  We've actually seen it where the system runs out of these ENQUEUE locks.
    Before you all go off the deep end and ask why not just do the update, keep in mind that you don't want to update a million + rows and then do a commit either - that locks up the entire table!

    The ENQUEUE lock insure that another program called by another user will not update the data at the same time, so preventing database coherence to be lost. In fact, another user on a SAP correct transaction, has read the record and locked it, so when it will be updated your modifications will be lost, also you could override modifications made by another user in another luw.
    You cannot use a COMMIT WORK in a SELECT - ENDSELECT, because COMMIT WORK will close each and every opened database cursor, so your first idea would dump after the first update. (so the internal table is mandatory)
    Go through some documentation like [Updates in the R/3 System (BC-CST-UP)|http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/BCCSTUP/BCCSTUP_PT.pdf]

  • Automatic Payment Transaction (F110) - questions bout Paymnt Doc generated

    Hi all,
    I have a question regarding to payment documents generated by Automatic Payment Transaction (tcode F110).
    After a payment run, some payments are created. But I found that same payment documents are generated over several payment runs for same vendors. And those payments pay for the same invoices.
    For example
    Run date   ____________     ID    ______     Vendor ______  Payment
    Jan 01, 2009  ______  ID001  ______  V0001  ______   P1
    Jan 15, 2009  ______  ID002  ______  V0001  ______   P1
    Jan 15, 2009  ______  ID003  ______  V0001  ______   P1
    Payment P1 pays for Invoices I1, I2, I3.
    It looks like the data is repeated.
    When I check tables, REGUH, there are 3 entries and 9 entries in REGUP (1 payment - 3 invoices => 9 records). It also is updated in BKPF and BSEG as well.
    The question is: how can I identify  which Payment Run (date, id) the payment document belongs to?
    I don't understand because i think SAP automatically generates document number, and it cannot be the same for every run.
    Please guys, help explain it for me.How does it work in this way?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello
    In this process, you will complete a payment transaction automatically.
    You should first enter some vendor invoices so that there are enough due payables available in the system. In order to reduce the work you need to do, we have created a CATT (Computer Aided Test Tool) that generates invoices automatically when activated.
    Secondly, you will create a payment program and enter the parameters necessary for selecting the items to be paid.
    Next, you will execute a payment proposal list and check its log. You will find that some items are blocked for payment. You will need to update the list in order to remove the block.
    Later, you will start an actual run. Then you will set the print program so that the payment forms and accompanying payment advice notes and payment summaries are correctly assigned to the payment run. Finally, you will print the payment forms. If you are using North American data, you will then need to analyze the check register.

  • Questions about updating linked .ai files

    I have two questions regarding linked images.
    (1) Sometimes when I make changes to an .ai file, the InDesign document will automatically update the image as soon as I save the changes in Illustrator. In other words, I do not need to update the link in the ID links panel.  Other times, however, the link will not update, and I have to click the yellow triangle next to the image in the links panel to see the changes. Is there a reason why this happens, and is there an easier way to update images than the links panel. In Quark, I could just double-click on the image and a dialog box would ask if I wanted to update the image. This isn't a big deal to me, but I thought I'd ask.
    (2) Whenever I make a change to an .ai file, the linked image in InDesign always re-scales, and I can't figure out why it does so or how to make it stop doing this. For example, I placed a bar chart made in Illustrator in a frame and adjusted its +x and +y values. It came in at 100% scale and I did not change that. Then, I had to make a change to a text label on the chart, which made the graph slightly smaller. When I updated the link in InDesign, it was re-scaled to 118.12%. I had to go into the +x field in the control bar and type in 100% to get it back to the scale it was before.  Is there a default setting I need to uncheck to turn this feature off? If not, is there by chance a simple keystroke that will let me re-scale the image quickly?
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    1. It sounds like you sometimes select the art or thename of the link and choose "edit original" and sometimes you just open the art and make changes. If you tell ID to edit original it updates at the save.
    2. There are two options, depending on version, for the relink behavior and scaling. In CS5 (and CS4 if I remember correctly), you have a choice between them inthe prefs, in earlier versions it's one or the other, depending onthe version. One option is to preserve the dimensions, which is wha'ts happening to you. The other is to preserve the scale. Exactly how preserving dimensions behaves depends, too on the cropping options you used when placing the .ai file. If you cropped to aret or bounding box, for example, changing the size of the art or removing a stray point affects the art or bounding box, but cropping to media would not change.

  • Daily I receive a question for updating my Firefox (s.6.17 MacOs), but when I agree the result is Or no contact with the update-server

    Daily I receive a message for updating my Firefox (3.6.17 MacOs 10.6.8) but when I agree, it takes quite a long time and then OR a message: no contact with the update-server OR something like: Sorry we cannot find xxxxx(?!).
    QUESTION: HOW TO UPDATE?
    [By the way: what about version 8.0! Is that perhaps for mobile-systems?
    With regards, Jan Stevens.

    If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
    Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
    *Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    *Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    *Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Question about updating SQL Server on failover cluster

    Hi all,
    I would like to better understand the update process of SQL Server (2008 r2) in a failover cluster environment.
    In our cluster we have 4 instances of SQL running, where two of them I am able to at anytime stop the instance and update it.
    The question is... Applying the latest update, will update forcibly all instances installed on that node, or do I have the ability to choose which instance I want to update?
    This way, I could "test" the update process in those two SQL Instances, as described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958734 and after finishing I would update the remaining instances.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.
    Nuno Silva

    Hi Nuno,
    It's a failover cluster issue, I moved it to SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery. So that you can get better help.

  • Question on updating Opportunities

    I am writing a Java code to connect to the webservices and do a query/update opportunities.
    I am able to establish the session and when I do a search with out setting the OpportunityId I get weird results with all the data blank/null.
    If I set the OpportunityId as blank string I do get some results.
    objOpportunity_Type.setOpportunityId("");
    Out of the oppertunities I get if I take one of the oppertunity ID and set it in the search criteria
    objOpportunity_Type.setOpportunityId("='XXXXXXX'");
    and run the query on it I am not getting any results.
    Am I missing anything ?
    Thanks

    Max,
    Thanks for the quick response.
    Yes, The opportunity ID is in XX-XXXX format. I am able to see it using the URL you sent. https://secure-ausomxbqa.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/OpportunityDetail?OMTGT=OpptyDetailForm&OpptyDetailForm.Id=1-EES8EV
    But when I try to set that as the Oppertunity ID and execute the query in Java I am not getting any results. Here is my code snippet.
    String strServername = "secure-ausomxbqa.crmondemand.com";
    String username = "xxxxxxxxxx";
    String password = "xxxxxxxxxx";
    objSession = new Session(strServername, username, password);
    String sessionID = objSession.logonSSO();
    System.out.println("Connection Succesfull .., Session ID is= " + sessionID);
    OpportunityWS_OpportunityQueryPage_Input opQPInput = new OpportunityWS_OpportunityQueryPage_Input();
    OpportunityWS_OpportunityQueryPage_Output opQPOutput;
    opQPInput.setUseChildAnd("false");
    opQPInput.setPageSize("20");
    opQPInput.setStartRowNum("9000"); //using a random number here ..just for a test
    Opportunity_Type[] opportunityInputArray = new Opportunity_Type[1];
    Opportunity_Type objOpportunity_Type = new Opportunity_Type();
    objOpportunity_Type.setOpportunityId("='1-EES8EV'");
    opportunityInputArray[0] = objOpportunity_Type;
    ListOfOpportunity objListOfOpportunity = new ListOfOpportunity(opportunityInputArray);
    opQPInput.setListOfOpportunity(objListOfOpportunity);
    System.out.println("Calling the service...");
    //get the output
    opQPOutput = OppertunityHelper.queryOpportunitys(objSession, opQPInput);
    System.out.println("Oppertunity Output object = " + opQPOutput);
    ListOfOpportunity objListOpp = opQPOutput.getListOfOpportunity();
    System.out.println("last page= " + opQPOutput.getLastPage() );
    //int noOfOpportunity = objListOpp.getOpportunity().size;
    Opportunity_Type[] opportunityArray = objListOpp.getOpportunity();
    System.out.println("opportunityArray = " + opportunityArray);
    //Create the objOppUpdInput object for running the updates
    //using the same list that we got from the query as we are updating all the oppertunities
    //TBD: what is the second parameter, Echo ??
    OpportunityWS_OpportunityUpdate_Input objOppUpdInput = new OpportunityWS_OpportunityUpdate_Input(objListOpp, "");
    for(int i=0; i<opportunityArray.length; i++)
         Opportunity_Type objOpportunity = opportunityArray;
         //get the data
         System.out.print("Opportunity ID=" + objOpportunity.getOpportunityId());
         System.out.print("Account Name=" + objOpportunity.getAccountName());
         System.out.print("Account ID=" + objOpportunity.getAccountId());
         System.out.print("Account Location=" + objOpportunity.getAccountLocation());
         System.out.println();
    Another question I have is if I need to query all the opportunities in the system do I need to set the Oppertunity ID as blank string ?
    objOpportunity_Type.setOpportunityId("") ? If I don't do that I am getting oppertunities with ID as null and also I get some exceptions like "No user key can be used for the Integration Component instance 'Opportunity'"
    Thanks

  • Question about updating to Logic 9 and 64-bit

    Hey guys, thanks for reading.
    About 5 years ago I purchased the student discounted version of Logic Studio 8 (does not support upgrades of any kind).  I have used this until now in conjunction with many Eastwest and Spectrasonics audio units.
    I am now considering buying Logic Pro 9 to take advantage of 64-bit technology (which is a new concept for me), which will help my Eastwest and Spectrasonics audio units make full use of my 8GB of ram.  No more crashing or slowing, hooray!
    Here is my question: if I want to use all of the old reverbs, EQs, instruments, and jam packs that came with my Logic Studio 8 five years ago, do I need to purchase Logic Studio 9?  I was hoping I could just buy Logic Pro 9 and that all the old plugins and instruments that came with my Logic Studio 8 will still function.  I use Space Designer and a few select instruments from the Jam Packs quite frequently.
    However, because these plugins and instruments came from Logic Studio 8, five years ago, and I doubt I can upgrade the files in any way because it was the educational version, I'd imagine that they are 32-bit.
    Sorry if that was long and convoluted.  Logic doesn't have a simple support line and I want to make sure I buy the right product!

    If you buy Logic Po 9 from  the App store.. all that extra content is available to download directly from inside the Logic Pro 9 App now (It's a menu option) so you won't lose anything.... and you get all your old versions updated and the  for free!
    The Logic Pro 9 from the App store acts as both an upgrade version from earlier releases such as Logic 8 and as a fresh install without the need for any prior versions instaled.

  • Question on updating Premiere Pro CC from 7.0.0 to 7.2.1

    Hi all.
    I'm running Premiere Pro CC 7.0.0 (haven't updated it yet, I've been abroad for a while).
    I understand that there have been 4 product updates since then, which are 7.0.1, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.2.1
    I can see that all 4 updates are available as 4 individual downloadable files from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=98&platform=Windows
    My question is do I have to update the product running those 4 updates one-by-one in their released order ? Or I can just apply the latest one ? (I mean going straight from 7.0.0 to 7.2.1) ? Is that the same thing ? (I mean each update includes the previous ones ?)
    Many thanks in advance !

    Thank you very much for your quick response Ann.   So you mean I just download and apply the 7.2.1 update (the latest 297.3 MB file) which already contains in itself all bugs and fixes of all previous 3 updates since my 7.0.0 version, right ? (sorry to ask again, just making sure I got that right)
