Questions: First Downloaded Video to Mac

I have a Panasonic VDR-M30 with a mini USB port for downloading videos. It does not have a Firewire port. My PowerBook, using iMovieHD and iDVD, does not seem to recognize the camera, which is connected with a USB. 1) Is there a way to get my Mac to recognize a USB camera? 2) Does a MiniUSB -> Firewire cord exist that will allow me to connect this camera to my Mac and have a successful download? 3) Are there any "secrets" I should know that will help make this seamless? e.g. opening any ports, etc. Thanks for your help.

Well not to P on your leg more but it also records on DVD in MPEG-2 format not DV so you cannot edit what you have. And if it uses the the little DVD's vs. full size ones you cannot put them in the Powerbook either as it will wreck the drive. And you can't connect it to get the data off the DVD.
However if it is reasonably heavy you can hold the door open with it.
Get out there, get a refund and get a DV camera.

How do I populate my iPod classic from iCloud without first downloading to my Mac (there is not enough space on my Mac)?

I have approximately 16G free on my iMac. All of my music (20,000+ tracks) is in the cloud.
I want to entirely fill my iPod Classic (160G) but I cannot free up enough interim storage on my iMac. Is there a way to load the iPod Classic without physically downloading to my iMac first?
In other words, I understand I need to connect the classic to iTunes on my Mac, but can I load the iPod Classic from iCloud, through iTunes without downloading first.

Thanks - Unfortunately I figured that out yesterday. I tried downloading a bit at a time and populating the iPod. I had hoped that when I deleted it from local it wouldn't really dissappear from the ipod and I could download a bit more. as you likely already know, that didn't work.
Rats.
I deleted my iPhoto libraray and videaos and that made space for the 20,000+ tracks. About 18,000 fitted on the 160GB iPod.
Now I have to restore the iPhoto library and videos.
A lot of work...

What Download Video Program for Mac is as Good as Orbit is for Windows??

12/29/2008. Friends, I have searched and searched and searched for a video download program for Mac that will download videos from almost any website besides just YouTube and such, but to no avail. The latest OrbitDownloader 2.8.1 for Windows is excellent and will do this for Windows on a PC. What similar download video program for Mac will perform as excellently or almost as good?? I've tried Firefox's Video Downloader Helper but can not get it to work. I've tried Mori but don't know how to get it to work. I've tried Perian but again don't know how to get it to work, I just get a window that says "Uninstall." 1/2/2009. Thank you all for your help. I love this wonderful feature I find about Apple Discussion Forums, so many friends. I did not know about Perian's instructions until you informed me. [www.perian.org/#watch] I'm glad that I gave the example of "POV Inheritance," because it is somewhat complex. First a person must locate the POV Inheritance website. For Perian, to go into Windows Activity at that point shows only that line. No one told me that I must click the wee arrow to the left of that line. Then a long drop list appears. But none of those help. So one must return to and on the website click "Watch the streaming video online" or ". . . now." That brings up another sub-website on which a person must click "Watch the Full Film." Then one can choose between five "chapters," and go into Windows Activity again. Then appears "net + public affairs player: video." Then one clicks the small arrow on the left of "net+ public affairs video" and sees 17 selections. All except one are small kbs. One has a large megabyte file. Select and Command + C that, and then go into Windows Downloads and Command + V [paste]. Then the download begins. And the person must do that for each of the five chapters. The other option is not to click any of the "chapters" but instead click "Watch the Full Film," and then click Windows Activity and then the small arrow left of "net + public affairs : video" and on the drop down list appear, among many, the five separate chapter files [the ones with large megabyte files], and continue as per a few lines above. The Perian procedure is simple. Getting to the line to be downloaded, in this case, is more complex, and so a good example from which to learn.
RealPlayer 11.0.0 [or 11.0.1] and its RealPlayer Downloader work very well too and may be simpler.

I tried the "Internet Recovery" option and finally saw Mac OS X Mountain Lion's install page but after waiting 7 hours when I just thought its going to start installing, I got another progress bar with 36 hours remining time to download "Additional Components" then after progressing 2-3 hours, it shows "Unable to write installation something..., Contact Apple Care"
Then I accidently rebooted the machine and now it seems Internet Recovery don't work anymore, it shows "support.apple.com - 40 something!" error, and finally when I tried to reboot using Recovery HD, I found it's gone as-well!
To be honest, I don't know what to do now, I am and dissapointed... also I do not have any Apple Store nearby, there is an authorized country reseller almost 650/km far away from my residents and they even charges too high (like $250) for doing such repairs (as per phone conversation)
If anyone have any idea or anything to help me with, please do share- I'd be eternally grateful!

How to install
When you click a link, a download of the installer file occurs to your Downloads Folder usually located next to your Trash Can or in your Users Folder.
Open the folder and double click (or File: Open) the download and icon can appear on your desktop which you open and inside is a installer package which you double click on to launch the installer.
OS X will check the download to make sure you intended to start it and that it's not malware it knows about.
Follow the installer instructions to install the software onto your computer and quit when finished.
Some require the browsers to be closed first, others require the machine to be restarted to enable the software.
Once the install is completed, remove any and all downloads from your Download folder, it's safer to keep this folder empty so you can keep track of what appears in there.
Drive by downloads of malware can occur and reside in the Downloads folder, mixing in with files residing there and await your click to install.

Question about downloading and accessing video in FC Express. HELP!

Very new to Final Cut Express.... Is it possible to download video (from a Canon Vixia HD30) via firewire to an external drive then access the video footage for FC Express from that drive? Or does the footage still need to move to the computers drive? Bottom line is if possible I want to keep my main drive as clear as possible. HOW TO: Enable videos downloaded to my MAC to play on A-TV

I have several videos downloaded to my MAC's hard drive that I'd like to play through A-TV. Is this a situation where I'd have to transfer these files to iTunes in order to play them through A-TV? Can it be done by syncing the file with A-TV? How do I do these things?
