Questions for upgrade WLC 5508

I need to update a 5508 WLC 7.2.103 to a version that supports the Access Point 2600 model, but the WLC administer it with a WCS version 7.0.230, which is the next version of software that supports the Access Point 2600 model and if that version is compatible with the WCS that I have?

Depending on what code version you require on the WLC, here is a matrix that will explain wht versions are compatible.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/5500/tech_notes/Wireless_Software_Compatibility_Matrix.html
If you stay with v7.2.103.0, then you need NCS 1.1.0.58.  Prime Infrastructure replaces both WCS and NCS so you might look at the upgrade from WCS to Prime Infrastructure.

  • Upgrade WLC 5508 to 7.4.121.0 problem

After I upgraded WLC 5508 from 7.2.111.3 to 7.4.121.0, all 3602i APs don't associate with the controller.  All APs were working/associating with controller on 7.2.111.3 at same setting.  IP address of APs are setup as DHCP.
The error message is "AP couldn't get IP address".
Any one has this type of problem when you upgrade WLC 5508 from 7.2.111.3 to 7.4.121.0.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
This doesn't look like software issue.
You have to check why the APs are not able to get ip address. Try connecting a PC to a swtich port where one of these APs are connected and see if you are able to get IP on PC.
Also check if the DHCP server is reachable and if there are IP address in the pool assigned for APs.
    HTH,
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Upgrade WLC 5508

I'm trying to upgrade my Cisco WLC 5508 with 125 AP's from 7.0.116 to 7.4.110, so it can support the new AIR-CAP2602 and the old AIR-LAP1142 at the same time, but for some reasons the AP's will not accept the new software.
    (Cisco Controller) >show boot
Primary Boot Image............................... 7.0.116.0 (default) (active)
    Backup Boot Image................................ 7.4.110.0
I have tried to predownload the new image to all AP's from the WLC, and it sucses, but the predownloaded image was not copied into the Backup image.
(Cisco Controller) >show ap image all

    Number of APs
            Initiated........................................... 0
            Predownloading................................ 125
            Completed predownloading................ 0
            Not Supported.................................. 0
            Failed to Predownload....................... 0
                                                     Predownload     Predownload
AP Name            Primary Image  Backup Image   Status          Version        Next Retry Time  Retry Count
    AP-xx-01               7.0.116.0      7.0.116.0      Complete        7.4.110.0      NA               NA
When I then re-boot the WLC on the new software (7.4.110), the AP's just show up in the GUI as "downloadning" and the the AP's re-boot. This going on and on, so I had to force the WLC to reset on the old software (7.0.116).
I think my problem is, that the AP's have the same image atached to both Primary and Backup, so my question is:
How do I clear the information about the Backup image in the AP's and downlod the new image to the AP's?
Can I ftp/tftp the new image direct to the AP's and Then do any configurations at the AP's to make it the Backup image?
    THX Frank

    Hi Frank,
(Cisco Controller) >show bootPrimary Boot Image............................... 7.0.116.0 (default) (active)Backup Boot Image................................ 7.4.110.0
Since your controller backup image is 7.4.100.0, when you pre-download the image to AP use the following ("backup" keyword instead of "primary")
(Cisco Controller) >config ap image predownload backup all
Then check "show ap image all" to confirm that new image version shown as pre-downloaded image version in your APs.
Then you can go ahead & swap the image on all your APs using
(Cisco Controller) >config ap image swap all
Then you can change the boot image on WLC to pointing to 7.4.110.0 & reset your controller.
    (Cisco Controller) >config boot backup
    (Cisco Controller) >show boot
Primary Boot Image............................... Code 7.0.116.0 (active)
Backup Boot Image................................ Code 7.4.110.0 (default)
    (Cisco Controller) >reset system

  • Upgrade WLC 5508 to 7.3x or 7.4x?

    Hi Community,
In order to enbale HA SSO on our two 5008 WLC's, I plan to upgrade them to 7.3 / 7.4 (currently 7.2)
Right now 7.3.112.0 is the latest release. We do not have any 1600 series AP's, which requires 7.4.
So here's my question..any reason going for 7.4 directly..or not going for it?
    Thanks for your thoughts/input,
    Stefan

There are a lot of open bugs in both versions which is the problem. We have had customers go from the 7.3 to 7.4 then to the latest 7.3 and they still have HA issues. We have had a few just get rid of the HA and go with the normal two WLCs with license model. Since many have hit different bugs, I can't really tell you which one pisses them off more.

  • Partition questions for upgrade

    Hi
I may choose to partition the hard drive on my mbp when upgrading from snow leopard to mavericks. I used Time Machine to backup.
Any good tutorial on partitioning and installing Mavericks?
For Mav. do I download an installer? So when actually installing it having internet connectivity isn't necessary?
If I've used Time Machine to backup, does it also backup my old Snow Leopard os?
Ok, a stupid question: I just watched this video where it appeared the guy partitioned his drive without erasing the drive. Can one do that? I'd be shocked if it's true.
SO, if I upgrade to Mavericks, I have the option to do an install just over the os I have, not a clean install, right?
    best
    elmer

    Thanks, gents for your replies!
My original reason to upgrade was so I could upgrade to Maverick. Now I'm finding that some oldre Apps (including Photoshop.cs (Version 8) aka CS 1 and Microsoft Office X) probably aren't supported, at least that's the official line. Also, my Canon Lide 80 scanner probably isn't either.
I'd almost like to install Mavericks on top of the Snow Leopard and see what does or doesn't work, then if unhappy with the result, clean install partitions with a small (25 gigs) partition of SL and the rest to Mavericks.
But that may rang from unwise to stupid. It's just that having partitioned years ago, I found it to be a bit of a pain just having dual systems and sometimes constantly switching between the 2.
    Opinions or suggestions?
Thanks again, gents, your input has been much appreciated!

  • Prep. Questions for Upgrading Tiger- Snow Leopard for Iphone 4.

    Hi,
Like everyone else, I failed to realized iphone 4 was not tiger compatible. Regardless of my carelessness, and my ill-feelings towards Apple for this strange move, I have a few questions that I keep getting mixed answers to and would like to finally clear some of them up. I sincerely hope someone can help me, I've been using my phone for about 2 weeks now with no contacts/apps/previous data, and the longer I wait, the more it's grating on my feelings.
    Background:
I have many applications on my computer, like the adobe suite, games, ect. that I am worried about making the transfer. So far, no one seems to be able to tell me what is going to happen to them when/if I upgrade. I do not have the keys for the adobe suite anymore..... could this seriously screw me?
    2) I've purchased the simple, $50 family pack snow leopard install discs. Again, I'm planning on jumping from 10.4.11 to whatever comes pre-installed on those discs. My computers specs meet the requirements for snow leopard, so, Is there any problem with this? Sources online say I'm AOK, and only after I bought it from apple and bring it home do they tell me (as I called to ask about backing up my hd) that I can't use this, that I need the box set with Iwork and Ilife.
    My frustration rises
I just really need someone to help clear this up for me before I accidently fatally lose everything on my computer because I was given false information.
    3) Incase I do totally bomb this, I'm attempting to make a copy of my harddrive to my external through Disc Utilities.
Say I do upgrade successfully to Snow Leopard, but the Adobe Software is lost, would I be able to restore my computer back to this current Tiger state from my external?
4)Is it just not possible to run Snow Leopard with my current versions of Imovie, Iphoto, ect?
I'm trying to keep cool, but seriously, if I have to go back and buy the box set just to upgrade my Iwork(which i don't use) and Ilife set, and then on top of that, repurchase the Adobe suite because it won't make the switch, I'm going to not only be furious, but lose a lot of respect for Apple.
Thanks for any help you can give me. Seriously.

The Box Set is "recommended", not essential, what you have will work.
Say I do upgrade successfully to Snow Leopard, but the Adobe Software is lost, would I be able to restore my computer back to this current Tiger state from my external?
First off, the only way to be 100% safe is to have a bootable Clone of what you have now.
Get carbon copy cloner to make an exact copy of your old HD to the New one...
    http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
    SuperDuper...
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/
Or the most expensive one & my favorite, Tri-Backup...
    http://www.tri-edre.com/english/tribackup.html
Boot from the clone and make certain everything is OK before install SL on the internal, then you could in a worst case scenario clone it back to the internal, or have 2 different OSes to choose from.
Is it just not possible to run Snow Leopard with my current versions of Imovie, Iphoto, ect?
I use iMovie 6 HD in SL/10.6, but be sure if installing iMovie that your current version isn't named iMovie so it doesn't get erased.
and then on top of that, repurchase the Adobe suite because it won't make the switch
You don't mention which versions of Adobe Apps you have.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

  • Macbook 2008 - Questions for upgrade / RAM or install Win7

    Hi,
I have a MacBook 4,1 early 2008 edition - 2 GB RAM, 2.4 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I know with the latest upgrade in OS, as Apple mentioned I am not eligible to upgrade to Mountain Lion. I was wondering if -
    1) I can upgrade my RAM to 4 GB? or even higher (not sure if possible)?
    2) Can I get the Video card changed (and hence make me eligible for OSX upgrade) ?
    3) Also I had Windows XP installed on a partition in it. Recently I removed it and now I am planning to put my licensed Win 7 copy on it. But when I try to install it using BootCamp, it shows me error that the 'files cant be moved' to make partition. I was wondering if I can repair my disc wihtout the original Lion CD (As I just upgraded it from Appstore and didn't buy a CD of it)?
    Any expert comments?
    Thanks

You can upgrade your ram, owc (www.macsales.com) has a great reputation.
Sorry, you cannot change the video card.
If you are running Lion, you should have a recovery partition that will allow you to boot into recovery mode. Press and hold the option key as you reboot. If not, you can boot into internet recovery mode, i forgot the key combo for that. From recovery mode you can run disk utility. You can also destroy any partition you'd like. (including the OSX partition and the ability to boot your computer, so be careful.)

    Hi,
My understanding is that for fully WLC 5508 integration with ISE 1.1.2, it needs Version 7.2.103.0.  Question is if customer has 5508 with either 7.0.230 or 7.0.98, and ISE 1.1.2, can AAA part work?  what part will not work, any potential issue if they don't upgrade 5508 to 7.2.103?
